Welcome back for another week of RHOBH! Before I talk about the third episode, I thought I'd answer some questions that you asked me from last week's blog.
The number one question I received was when are the ladies going to blog? I'm sure you're all thrilled that they are back! I apologize for the delay, but obviously, we've had some extraordinary circumstances to deal with this season. Thanks for your patience!
Hwatcher suggested we poll the audience to see what they really want to see. In Hwatcher's case, he (she?) thinks the glitz and glamour are enough and we don't need to show the drama. Well, Hwatcher, this was a common comment in the blogs in Season 1. However, for every comment we got like that, we got another one begging for the drama. We work very hard on RHBH to be a three-dimensional show. We want to incorporate every aspect of the ladies' lives, which means bling, family, laughter, and yes, drama.
Viewer in Medina, OH wants to know how Bravo decides which cities are being selected for Housewives franchises and how the 'Wives are then cast. I've only worked on two of the franchises –- RHOC and RHOBH –- but I imagine they select them based on a city being able to show something distinct from the rest. NYC seemed a logical second choice after Orange County. While Atlanta and New Jersey offered unique perspectives. Secondly, once a city is selected, a casting director will be hired and they start their research. Sometimes they advertise auditions, and sometimes it's just word-of-mouth.
Beverly Hills Housewives is my favorite of the franchises. The major thing I like about BH Wives versus the other Wives shows is that they aren't constantly hawking some product that they've decided to sell or song they've over-digitalized. It's very annoying when Ramona is always pushing her wine or her jewelry or Theresa her cookbooks......and the list goes on and on. It starts to look like a constant commercial rather than a look at their lives.
Dave, your blogs are great! Lucky to know while watching that I can ask about anything that confused me and hopefully get an answer.
For me I was confused during the scene where Paul and Adrienne were discussing going to the game and the suite. I didn’t feel there was enough background info given leading into the scene about why she shouldn’t be attending. Just my opinion. The whole way through the scene I was trying to figure out why the fans would be so angry with her?
How do you decide which friends of the wives will be allowed in the scenes and have reoccurring roles on the series? Do the ladies specifically list friends they would like to shoot with or do you choose people you want to shoot and the wives must become fast friend or enemies? I love Faye, she’s funny. Not sure I’m going to love Brandi. I realize she’s a wife scorned but she certainly didn’t handle the situation like a lady in the same way Camille did. Really loving Camille so much more this year and Kim too!
Also, I feel if Taylor can do paid interviews out in the press (ET, Dr. Phil) and profit from this tragedy she should be able to write a Bravo blog. I’m not diminishing what she is going through at all. She is first and foremost paid by Bravo and I believe her first obligation should be to Bravo.
Heading to China & Korea on a two week vacation. Will be anxious to get back and catch up on episodes. Thanks for a great series!
Since the series is called real house wives of, etc, why are you casting single woman? Such as the new women joint BH.
To answer a question posed, I want to see the reality of their lives, if you are shooting any less, then I am not getting why I watch.
Question: What can the fans do to express their heartfelt caring & praying for Taylor and her family? I am sure I am not the only one who has been praying for Taylor and her daughter. C.K 22
Why do sometimes show the same footage over again on a different episode? For example, you showed Lisa looking at the empty building next to Sur in two separate episodes. I would think you have more than enough footage to not need to show the same thing twice. I have seen this happen on other Housewives shows.
Of course everyone on the plane signed the release. It's not like the subway, where you can just catch the next train 5 minutes later.
It seemed like Kyle had a slip of the tongue this week when out to dinner with Maurico. She said "When I was getting/When I was doing my makeup..." That leads the viewer to believe she didn't really do her own makeup. Do all of the ladies travel with hair and makeup artists? Do they have their makeup done before they shoot every scene?
