BH Producers

BH Producer Dave Rupel answers your questions about new cast members Dana Wilkey and Brandi Glanville.

Oct 3, 20110

I hope everyone enjoyed the latest episode. Most of the comments from last week asked about the new cast members, Brandi and Dana, so that's what I'm going to blog about this week.

As a reminder, Evolution Media produces only RHOC and RHOBH. All the other Housewife series are produced by other production companies, which may handle things differently -- so I can't speak for them.

Viewer Guess12 loved last year and wanted to know why we felt the need to add anyone? Actually, there were several reasons. Camille was in the middle of a custody battle that was taking up a lot of her time, so she couldn’t commit to shooting full time. Also, Lisa was covering the royal wedding for HLN, which you saw in tonight's episode, so she wasn't as available as we would’ve liked. With some of the ladies busy with other activities it felt natural to introduce a few new faces.

Caliviewer wants to know what the difference is between being a full Housewife and a "friend of a housewife?" Good question! The full Housewives are the central personalities we are following throughout the show, so the biggest difference is that the "friends of housewives" we feature alongside our Housewives are not followed individually. Meaning, you'll never see a scene of Brandi with her friends, or of Dana and her fiancée, without any of the Housewives present. They also are not in the main titles, and don't have graphic title cards.

Love Brandi!!! Get rid of Dana! Her overt superficiality cheapens the designers' labels.

LOVE Adrienne Maloof-Nassif like no other, but Brandi just screams "trash" to me. I really like all of the other housewives as well despite some irritating things some of them do (T. Armstrong is a total fake, for example) I like Dana as an addition but she needs to learn that having money doesn't mean you flaunt it. It's gross. But I do like her overall.

Keep Brandi. Please don't bring Dana back. Please. Seriously, Please. She's more annoying then Theresa from NJ!

Have you ever thought of filming a season while the last season is going on? showing us their reaction to the interviews from the other ladies and twitter and facebook wars etc...? Then film the reunion? WOW would that change the drama effect.

I think that the friends are pretty interesting and should be made full cast members

Usually when a new season of Housewives start, they update the group shot of the women at the end of the commercials...Why is Bravo using last years group shots?

I just out of all the housewives opening credits. I love RHBH the best!!! I was just wondering how you make those, and how you decide what the ladies say?

Thanks for this blog it's so unique from the other series. It's nice to have questions answered.

Carleem, Kyle IS a cast member. It's not the same thing.

Carleem- To answer your questions it's because Kyle IS a main housewife. So, unlike Brandi and Dana, Kyle shoots with her family and friends (including Faye Resnick) without other housewives being in the scene. Whereas, Brandi and Dana only shoot scenes when other housewives are present.

You have Brandi and Dana blogging (who aren't major cast members with titles) but still no Kim. Why?

So why is Kyle filmed with Faye Resnick quite a few times without other castmates?
