Season 1
Hello, readers! I hope you enjoyed this week's episode.
This was a particularly hard one for me, as I felt everyone was in a very difficult position.
It is impossible to shoot a reality show in which the people do not interact, and the tension created by Russell's email to Camille put pressure on the group that was going to make it hard for everyone to be at the party together. And while this isn't mentioned much in the episode, Taylor had lost her phone in Las Vegas, which is why Kyle and Lisa were unable to get a hold of her. It was a difficult moment for everyone involved.
But like I've been saying all season long. We captured the reality of the situation. One friend threatening to sue another friend. It wasn't pretty, but it was very real. And with a trip to Hawaii for the entire cast looming in four days, hard decisions had to be made.
Thank you for addressing some viewer questions/concerns. I hope you continue to do that, esp since the ladies don't!
Thanks as always for your wonderful behind-the-scenes perspective. This was a hard episode to watch, for many reasons. I don't know who makes the decisions about casting but I hope Kim will get the help she needs before she signs on to another season. Also--Brandi seems like a good combination of nice AND a pot-stirrer, but...how can I say this...what makes Beverly Hills stand out is the lavish lifestyles of the cast. I can't speak for all viewers, but I love seeing Lisa's, Adrienne's and Camille's houses, clothes, parties, etc. And Kyle is so glamorous and beautiful. Brandi is just not on par with them. She'd be good on the O.C., but she just doesn't fit in with this cast. Same with Dana, she just doesn't seem to fit in either.
"And while this isn't mentioned much in the episode, Taylor had lost her phone in Las Vegas, which is why Kyle and Lisa were unable to get a hold of her. It was a difficult moment for everyone involved." -- Good thing it makes for good tv though eh?
Taylor, whether deliberate or not, has an extremely negative influence on those around her. The pattern is chaos and turmoil for those who get involved with her. As a result, if she is on Season 2, I will not be watching despite the fact that I love Fabulous Lisa, Wonderful Adrienne, Classy Camille, Controlling Kyle, Kooky Kim and Tell it Like it is Brandi. Really, Taylor's drama is better suited for Dr. Phil. And if she actually wants to work on her issues, maybe Dr. Drew.
Re: The phone. It would be interesting to know if Kyle's messages to Taylor included any indication that they should not come to the party. If the messages did, then I think it is possible - probable - that Taylor pretended to lose her phone. She appeared to be acting in that car ride. She just loves the spotlight. Poor Russell only seemed eager to please her; be more personable.
a behind the scenes show would definitely be interesting to watch!
question: Why for the love of grace did you ever think viewers would want to watch someone like Dana on the show? I think I speak for most of the audience when I say Dana completely brings down the show and makes it so annoying to watch. Please tell me this is her only season with RHOBH!
First of all, I absolutely love your blog! I love how honest you are about what happens behind the cameras! Ive always wondered how all the action is captures and how many crews there are! Now I know!
Question 1: Was Russell removing his mic when they returned to the limo after being dismissed from the party? If so, is that allowed during filming?
Question 2: Do any of the wives have their own vehicles or are hired drivers their only means of transportation?
Did Taylor and Russell go to Vegas without a camera crew? The body language in their limo was interesting - her body was angled away from Russell's, although she leaned her back towards him for a kiss, and Russell's body was completely angled towards Taylor.
The BH cast is intriguing with their wealth and drama. The tragedy around Russell and Taylor is actually rather painful to view, knowing the sad outcome. Brandi and Dana are entertaining as add-ons, but not enough to carry a main "storyline," so to speak.
I didn't see the episode but it sounds like taylor "LOST" the phone after she read the text messages. IJS
Question: How much interaction does the crew have with the cast members? Are there strict barriers that cannot be crossed that the crew is made aware of?
I have felt extremely uncomfortable watching much of this season knowing how tragically the Russell drama ended, but also because I feel that I wouldn't be able to handle a situation with a friend in an abusive relationship any better myself. I think it would be great for viewers if at the reunion or some other later episode you consulted a therapist for how viewers could handle a situation better if they knew someone they cared about was in a bad relationship. Is there a constructive way to show tough love for your friend to convince them to get help or leave a bad situation? I sort of feel like that was what Camille was trying to do but got angry so things got worse instead of better.
What is the deal with Kim and her boyfriend? Once she sobers up she will see this guy in the same light that her sister does. My mother would cringe if I brought someone home like that. No wonder her children want to stay away. Maybe showing Kim finally hitting bottom and getting into rehab would be a way to clean her up. Brandi isn't a good fit for BH either. What? Does Brandi drive acrosss town to be on the show? Come on get better people on here. I would rather see more of Giggy pooping on the carpet than watch Kim and her slobbering ways. Uck!
You should give Brandi her own show on how to get through a divorce/break-up. This is a painful situation we've all been through. Brandi's been through it publicly and seems to be handling all the negative energy around it really well. There's something hopeful about her and really, she's too funny and genuine to shine her brightest on the RH.
Just read your entire blog start to finish...it is my first time. I would love to see some more behind-the-scenes pics. I would also LOVE to see a behind-the-scenes of What What Happens Live. Can you suggest to Andy, please?
Anyway, RHOBH is my absolute favorite show and keep doing what you're doing!
Dana kissing up to the Richard sisters at her game night was embarrassing! OMG, when she said to Kyle "were in this forever" and Kyle said "who" she was reffering to her and Kyle being loyal to he new bff Kim whom she had met that night!!! then at the white party she was talking to Kims "boyfriend" she said " Kim is a sweetheart, she needs love" guess he replied something? and she said get this " I CAN TELL YOU HAVE A KIND HEART" she can tell? after him saying hello. she's only seen Kim a couple of times, Kim calls her by a different name and she thinks they're bffs ! pathetic thats all i have to say !
I'm finding this a bit hard to buy. Adrienne and Paul are discussing what to do. Paul is clean shaven. Adrienne calls Kyle hours before the party and tells her about the message from Russell to Camille. At the party Paul has a goatee. He grew a goatee in a matter of hours? Seems a little staged to me. The entire episode played out like a badly written soap opera. Seems like the only one being her true self was nut ball Kim.
Thank you for your insight and hard work to capture what we see weekly. I have to say I’m becoming frustrated as a viewer, seeing Kim “pop up” intermittently, living incidents from past episodes like they happened yesterday. The other ladies “show up,” and take a lot of heat at times. It would be difficult for me to believe that Kim is earning her pay. I do not feel that is fair to the other ladies.
It is also frustrating that Kim and Taylor do not blog. It is as if they may be thinking that if they do not appear on a particular episode or don’t blog, then nothing that we saw happened. Truly unfair to the viewers and our intelligence.
Thank you for reading this.
i must start off by saying i love the show. however im sick of all the drama between kim and brandi, grow up all ready admit you have a problem kim and get help or go to rehab.also the whole taylor situation is out of control. im with camille on this one dont tell your friends that you have an abusive husband if you dont thats not cool. also do not blame your friends when they confront you with the things you have told them, and certianly dont let your husband threatened lawsuits because your the one ultimately that told your friends he is abussive. taylor get your act together figure out what you want and keep your life with your husband private if you do not want to face the music when it comes bback to bite you in the ass. happy holidays to the ladies of bh see you in the new year.
I cannot believe that Taylor didn't listen to her messages. I lost my phone but I could still listen my voicemail. Hmmm...
If Shana Hughes, Shana Taylor, Taylor Ford, Taylor Armstrong or whatever name she chooses had really lost her phone in Vegas, why did she tell Kyle & Adrienne that Camille should've called her? I think her lies are catching up to her. It's time for her to go. Compared to the other housewives, she's classless.
Since everyone is making suggestions.....I would like to see the three Richards sisters have their own reality show. Kyle could stay on this one too because she seems to thrive on drama. Toss Taylor and add Dedra since she is there all the time anyway. (Linda Thompson would be a pretty entertaining addition too.) And get someone else around Brandi's age because she does not fit into this menopausal group. Perhaps you should have the old wives on one show and the young wives on another. Because fewer and fewer ladies on the show are now married, ditch the term "housewives" altogether. Kyle is the only one that is even close to being a housewife anyway. Just call them "women".
MerryChristmas and /or Happy Hanakka Dave. I stipped watching housewives of NYC because Jill and the one that didnt wear any underwear to her Marie Antoinette party (I can't even remember her name( wee just too vicious and mean. That being said, I am almost at the point where Beverly Hills Housewives is having the same effect on me. Kyle is a snake in the grass. That whole crying scene of her on the front lawn was so fake and horrible acting to boot! She is self-centered and cold hearted unlessit has to do with her and making her look better. She genuinely appears to play to the camera. Brandi is a delight on the show. I hope you keep her for next season. She is funny and I love her foul mouth! I think the Kyle and Kim are jealous as hell over her. Camille I like watching for her outfits. She must have a great stylist! I love her clother. That yellow dress with the torquoise earrings was to die for! She looked so pretty. Too thin for my taste but her clothes are so well done and fashionable. Kyle is the most beautiful but her personality ruins it for me. Kim I feel sorry for. I hope she gets the help she needs poor thing. Dana really doesnt add anything. She reminds me of a gal that ws always lower middle class and then married money. Telling the price of everything is what makes her really look the fool. Funny but pathetic. She tries too hard to fit in and it blows up in her face. Plus her house is empty! Strange. Adrienne and Lisa are great and I enjoy seeing their homes. I have to say those wedding invitations were hideous! Tacky! I also think those two while both have nice figures, the clothes they wear are too tight and just look uncomfortable to me. I think I got everyone. Oh Taylor. How could I forget abouit her. I really think she is like a con, a grifter or a hustler for money. I think thats what Russell and her did to make money. They have this regular looking house but spend 60,000 grand for a 5 year olds birthday party? Whats up with that/ she like Kim needs professional help. Sad for those two gals. Anyway, I still have Atlanta which is my second fav and now you have Tabatha coming back which makes me happy and still a fan of yours. Thank you for your posts and listening to my opinion.
I enjoy watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. However, I do wish someone would change the theme which seems to permeate the entire show and that is the bickering and fighting, whether it be simply the negative words the cast throws back and forth or the near fist fights shown between Brandy and others. I would rather be alone than be with friends that treat one another in this way. Your treatment of Russell Armstrong was way too much period. Nearly everyone standing around debating why Russell should be sent away from the party, as if it was everyone's business, rather than between Russell, Taylor and Camille. I thought the entire scene a bit much and made me think how painful it must have been for Russell and Taylor being turned away from the party. Russell obviously had some problems, but who would not with what we have seen on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. This episode showed how the cast really felt about Russell Armstrong. Not to mention the general feeling throughout this season when Russell was criticized at almost every turn.
Russell committed suicide and I would hate to think I let my desire to be among an elite group drive me to such an end.
Lisa, Brandi and Camille are very open and real, but Kyle,Taylor and Kim are very silly women. They should embrace the fact they have a chance in a lifetime to represent BH in a very positive light, but they act the way everyone expects people from BH to act...mean, fake and superfical. Come on ladies get your act together.
Several different people tried to call and text Taylor, but why didn't someone call or text Russell? This day and time everyone has a cell phone!!!!!!
You need to stipulate in the contracts...No Blog=No Paycheck. How totally unfair that the two biggest trouble makers (you know who) can get by week after week of causing the biggest scenes without being accountable for their actions. It's bad enough Kim doesn't show up half the time but she should at least explain her behavior. And if Taylor is of sound 'enough' mind to pen a book, I think she should explain herself also. So what gives with that??
Thank you for airing this season, the comments and the mistrust around Taylors situation. Being a survivor of abuse, I know the extremes a person goes through to make it all ok, to try and make sense of your situation by saying things outloud to others, and yet not living in the reality of the situation. Being able to look in and see that if someone came to me with my story I would be judgemental and confused and tell her to get the heck out, yet at the same time being bound by the inability to move in my own situation. Having friends feel confused and even doubtful of what has been said lead to the turmoil that goes on inside your head, it feeds the thoughts that "I am the one that must be crazy" even my friends are doubting me, he looks and seems like a nice guy, does anything for anyone we put on smiles and go to events - when I say outloud what is real - I must be crazy to be here because IF what I am saying is true a sane person would leave....if I am sane then why am I not leaving????? Thank you for showing this very real side of abuse, the doubt from even the closest. Thank you.
Kyle was my favorite when your show started but no more. She and her wacky sister, who is worse than Kyle, have proved to be downright mean and vicious. Remember producers: audiences like conflict, it's what makes a story, but they must like the actors ,or they won't watch the program One villian per episode is enough, or maybe the "ladies" could take turns playing "bad girl" but now you don't have too many actors left whom audiences find likable.
I LIKE TO ADDRESS KIM THIS SEASON,SHE HAD NO BLOG, BUT WHAT WAS HER ATTITUDES TOWARD BRANDI? SHE DONT LIKE BRANDI BECAUSE SHE THINKS BRANDI IS POOR OR SOMETHING. OR THAT BRANDI IS NOT CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH THAT SHE IS,SHE DONT BOTHER WITH PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT RICH!!! PLEASE GET A LIFE.
Friends don't sue friends??? When was anyone on the show a friend to Russell? When did anyone on the show try to befriend him?
I would not say get rid of anyone I like them all. I learned how not to act from Kim, I do feel bad for her. I learned how to dress from Lisa. It is best to be humble from Camille. hardwork from Adrianna. Taylor, no comment. Kyle and Brandi, how to keep it real. even though Kyle get caught in a lot of cross fire this season (she spread herself thin). By far the best housewives on television.
First, I love Kim. Kim is just trying to find herself, she is real and I love her. Secondly I feel like I should say something about taylor. Wasn't it just last year at the white party Russell wanted to leave ASAP like ten minutes into his appearence?! Maybe if Russell woulda extended the olive branch then the other hubbies woulda done the same!
I was very afraid for Taylor as she went back in her home with Russell when the were rejected from the white party. Did the crew check on her to make sure she was safe? If her husband was that abusive I would imagine the scene taylors friends made would have enraged him
after reading your blog reguarding russells behavior, (threatening to sue producers over comments made on film). the man was desperate to protect what what image he had left. It's hard to tell what russell was thinking during all of this, but his face and his comments while being confronted by the other housewives and husbands, he felt that he was in the right, then when adriAnne told him that she read the email, he stgarted backtracking, he didnt know what to say or do. I blame taylor for russells demise and death. it was her that wanted to live the lifestyle of beverly hills, he put them in debt to serve her. why dont she blog? is it the guilt? she shud not get paid if she isnt gonna blog, very unfair to us loyal viewers
Thank you for giving some insight into what goes on. But, please understand, as a viewer this season has been WAY to difficult for "entertainment" purposes. With the screaming matches, meltdowns, lies (Taylor), mean-girl attitudes, I'm too stressed watching it. Been a fan of BRAVO for a LONG time...please make some adjustments so us viewers, who don't necessarily thrive on drama and watch women bring other women down can enjoy this show again. As others have mentioned, if Taylor is is sound mind to write a book, make appearances, etc., there is NO excuse for her not to blog and provide the viewers/fans who have kept these shows on the air. Brandi is a pleasant and entertaining addition, and I sure hope she come back - or better yet replaces Taylor and the Richard sisters.
I think Lisa & Pandora's wedding planner should have a spin off show of his own. He seems like a real character and he is really fun to watch.
Okay, I have to say Bravo, you are losing me. New Jersey, yuck, Atlanta, why, Beverly Hills, Taylor (?!?!?!), OC is maybe the only one I can stomach. A little drama is one thing but you guys need to calm it down...puh-lease
Hi there - As a viewer I love to read the Producers take on all this! RHOBH was a favorite for me, however, the show it has become "The Taylor Show" is extremely painful to watch and most viewers have enough going on in their own lives they watch BH for the entertaiment and the life style and to get away from their own issues for the time being!! And the fact that both Taylor and Kim receive special treatment as far as blogging and such is a complete slap in the viewers faces. Taylor can pen a book, host NYE parties and the like but she is exempt from show protocol?? Makes me sick...... Thank YOU for taking the time to update the fans however!!

Thank you for your blogs that provide a different perspective on what goes into these shows we enjoy so much. I get very frustrated when people claim all reality television is scripted. Can you address this once again please.
