Let me begin by saying how entertaining this week's show was for me to watch. The banter was so fun and light and I learned a lot about myself! The dress in the show did not end up being my wedding dress. I actually hired Janie Bryant from Mad Men to make me a custom one, but now that may change again as her popularity has ballooned into the stratosphere, and she does not have time anymore.
Every time I get somewhere with my wedding, I seem to have some sort of setback. Maybe it's the "force" telling me to let it go and just marry the man I love without all the hoopla. I guess because I'm a wedding planner, I want it to be a presentation of my work, as well as a celebration of my love. I was married once briefly in my early 30s, and I eloped -- so maybe a part of me stupidly feels the bigger the wedding the more likely it will work this time. Please Tweet or Facebook me if you have any vendors I should check out for my wedding. I welcome the advice!
I was surprised to see that Kyle thought our lunch was awkward. I found it really fun. I'll have to ask her about it when I see her. I am not embarrassed by my son's accomplishments. He just turned two and continues to excel in his language skills and reading. I am actually going to a French pre-school today for an orientation. As many of you know, I like to study basic Neural Science and what I found out when I was pregnant is that the brain works out like a muscle so teaching your child any language is good for them. It doesn't matter which one. I am teaching my baby Thai because Miss Sue, his beloved Nanny, and her children, Nat and Joanne, speak it fluently to him, so it makes it easy for him to learn. I have many baby training techniques using multiple resources, which I've been using to teach your baby the encyclopedia, math, or reading. ' In addition to committing "Row, row, row your boat" to memory forever, you can also include facts about the world that you struggled to learn in high school!
I'm in the publicity business, I know how it works. And your blog just answered my question. I read a brief bio about your business and realized you get paid for product placement. So, rather than my first impression of you--thinking of you as an insecure name dropper who is dying to fit in with the other girls--I now realize (thanks to your very specific details of where to buy the glasses) that it was all a pre-staged plot for product placement. I am pretty sure this was all worked out beforehand with the store's owner and those glasses were either given to you or heavily discounted in return for the name-dropping. I have a feeling I'm going to have to keep an eye out for your not-so-subtle product placements all season, which I'm sure you have worked out with various brands. Not dissing you. I actually feel relieved that you're not that shallow after all :)
Dana, I feel like deep down you are actually a fun, down to eart girl. But the way you're coming off on this show is like you're trying WAAAY to hard to fit in. Please let go & just be yourself. We, the poor people, do not want to hear about your $250,000 sunglasses when we can barely feed our children. I watch this show to forget my troubles & laugh at the sillyness. I think I like you but can't stand much more of the price and name dropping, it's annoying. : )
If you're really a wedding planner, why do you have to ask random people for suggestions on vendors. You should know this.
Has Dana just become rich? Why does she have to give the designer and price of everything she wears?! Who does that? That's just classless really!
Cute but tacky episode! I am looking forward to seeing how you gel with the others and what role you settle into.
Hi Dana! you are a great asset to the RHOBH. I loved watching you. You are funny witty and down to earth. Your son as sooooooooooo cute :) Can't wait to see you next week. Oh yeah keep rocking out the sunglasses, you go girl!
HI Dana! I really enjoyed you and thought you were funny, humble, and a great asset to BH.Can't wait to keep on watching you.You go Girl. Oh and keep rocking the awesome sunglasses!
I think you're funny & gracious, so far. What a welcome addition to the show! Like you were, I am a 6 @ 5'3", & find it insulting that you were called chubby. Don't listen to that broke down Rod Stewart wannabe! If TV really adds 10 pounds, you look great. But, I just started hitting the gym, as well - I am setting short term goals. Congrats on size 4. Loving you so far!
Finding Franco and his Luxuriator store in Beverly Hills was one of the best things that ever happened to me. He is remarkably talented, caring, honest and a perfectionist. I wear trifocals and no one has a clue. The several pair I've worn over the years are extremely light-weight and flattering to my face. When was the last time you got a compliment on your eyewear? I get compliments from strangers constantly. Franco takes care of you and his prices are worth it. His store is beautiful and his frames are unique and stylish. He is an expert in his field. I would never go to anyone else, especially those optometrist's offices with a frame business on the side.
Hi Dana! I see some of these crazy RHOBH fans are ALREADY giving you a hard time. First, you have to be a strong person to join the cast of one of these shows to here's to you! Second, do NOT let them bring you down, they are probably just jealous because they are not on the show and you are. Third, you define YOU not people who have nothing better to do then write these comments (lol yes me!). So don't let these crazy "fans" get you down! You never know when half of them are gonna flip the switch and start feeling the opposite. Keep being yourself and who gives a ---- what these people think, you live in BH!!!!
Who cares about what other think about your 25K shades. If you can afford it and it's your money then more power to you.
There seems to be a niceness about you but your bragging is off the charts and not entertaining at the least. 25K for glasses while giving only $400 to Kyle's charity event is like Lisa giving a $25 gift certificate instead of dinner for 4, as she did. And the bragging that you do about your son, lucky you that he is doing so well already. But did ya ever stop to think that you could be bragging to someone whose child has a learning issue or medical issue? You gotta get real and apply a filter before you decide to brag.
You are cute and bubbly. Who cares that you spent $25,000 on sunglasses. It is so great to see a happy person. It is invigorating....
I like that you have a good sense of humor, its refreshing. I think it is more interesting to get to know someone and then start finding things out about them, like oh wow, she's loaded, or wow she is super smart. Its more mysterious and interesting rather than having it shoved in your face. I tend to brag about how great of a deal I got something, not how extravagant of a purchase it was, that is just embarrassing.
Why do you have to say how much something costs immediately!! It seems that when people talk about much and material things they are lacking somewhere else in their lives.
I usually don't comment on what people wear, but since you brought it up...........the $25,000 are not all that. They didn't even look good on Cammille!
I don't understand those who said did she donate to Kyle's charity: Last week she said she was the one who bought Lisa's gift certificate to her restaurant!
Hey Dana Love you on the show. You are a welcome addition. Im so tired of seeing Taylor cry I loved seeing you. You rocked that dress and the glasses. Its BH so if you can wearit or buy it, then do it and you can. Plus at least your son didnt pee in the grass. Cant wait to see more of you!
You made sure to share your $400 donation to Kyle's charity and $25K on sunglasses? I found the donation comment last week distasteful enough, but you topped it this week. Like Camille said, those with money don't feel the need to state it.
I like you alot Dana, you seem to be a really nice person and your a great addition to the show. You are "fun and light." Those sunglasses look great on you. As we said when I was younger, "If you got it, flaunt it."
No one should have to apologize for who they are, (unless you're a criminal). Plus, this IS Beverly Hills Housewives, not skid row, so...? What's the problem? :D
Thank God I have someone I can relate too! I over share and some may seem I am bragging at times, but I am just so shocked and surprised at what I have, I tend to tell ppl what things cost. Shoot me! Don't change!!! When you made the sunglasses comment..I have done that a few times as well! ( take off a zero or two..lol) I laughed and said ..OMG she is me!
Look forward to seeing more of you!
I think you're funny, too. However, talking about the cost of things is off putting. No matter what it is or how much it costs. Clearly, the other people on the show were uncomfortable with it - even tho most of them could afford them, too. I think this is one of those valuable lessons to be learned. (did you see the episode w/the b-day party Taylor threw for her child? She came off as obnoxious) Other than the bragging about the sunglasses, I liked you. Your child...brag all you want! I do it, too :)
I think I would have liked you more if you bragged about giving $25,000 to the charity event vs. spending it on a pair of sunglasses.
You seem like you would be a great time to hang out with! Your sunglasses are beautiful! I keep thinking sunglasses or the kids college loans? Can't imagine! Look forward to seeing more of you and hope everyone is nice to you!
I love your fun and light-hearted spirit! You have good energy and you are just what this show needed! ....And Im 5'3" and a size 4 and people think Im chubby...It's so ridiculous!!!
Why should you not buy something you want? These that say oh my gosh you should have given that to charites....come on people you buy what you want....do you not??? Hers is more because she has more...you bought a computer and have interent?? and cable or satellite....should we say that is wasted money and you should spend that on helping others? NO...so dont judge she gives to charities and she also spends big deal...should she brag about spending no I hate that as much as anyone but who has the right to say oh my gosh you should have given that to helping others and not on yourself?? Do not judge others people unless you want to be judged!!
I am not a believer in saying how much something costs.....and I am also not one who says you SHOULD FEEL BAD for spending it.....I am sure you give to charities and you also buy what you want....Just because you have lots doesn't mean you have to do without....I don't...I don't have lots but do I have alot by others in my money group yes...do we help charities yes.....who is to say give it alllll??? Come on those who tell you that...I bet we can look at there lives and say what you live in that size house you drive that car?? You wear those clothes? Come on people.......she helps she can spend just cuz she is not living in a tiny tiny house driving a second hand car and wear second hand clothes doesn't mean she is bad.....just doesn't need to brag!!!
Dana, you seem like such a wonderful person. And I love that you are teching your son another language at a young age. I became fluent in Spanish after learning it when I was in high school. My only regret is that I didn't get to start when I was younger, so kudos to you.
I really like your down to earth, unflappable nature so far. The way Kyle pretended to your face that everything was good, and then ridiculed you behind your back wouldve set me off!! But you totally let them roll off your back, instead of being filled with anger and bitterness about it. I love your style!! Everyone has their quirks, and the women will have to get used to yours. :))
Why did you feel the need to tell the other women how much your sunglasses were worth? They all seemed to be put off by that. I took it as trying to fit in the group, but you never hear them talking about what their items are worth.
I actually liked that you said how much the sunglasses cost - the whole point of watching the show is to see how the other half lives!
Dana, I wasn't a fan at first, I thought that you were just plain tacky, but you are growing on me. You are light and funny and I hope they keep you around for more.
P.S. You are not chubby, even at a mere size 6! Do NOT fall for that superficial BH BS. A lot of women have your body shape - don't make them feel bad about it by falling for the ignorance in BH.
We all have our moments of insecurity and I'm happy my moments aren't on tape with millions of viewers! I wish all of these women could get out and do a mission trip or connect with people in a different way to gain perspective. It would be really hard to live in LaLa land.
I'm glad I read your blog. You're not as obnoxious to me now (although, boasting about $25,000 sunglasses in this economy was.) I wish you luck on RHWOBH. You're gonna need it. Looks like it's going to be a rough season so, watch your back!
I think you should stop bragging about how much money things costs, i.e. $25,000 sunglasses - that's a little ridiculous. Makes people uneasy, regardless of how much money they have. The minute someone commented on your glasses, you were like "did you hear? $25,000!!!" And you mentioned several times about the Castle outside of Paris that you're "renting" for your wedding. Tone it down a little, missy. Otherwise, you seem really cool and genuine!
You are a welcome addition to me! I found you to be honest and very real. No. B.S. about you. I like people like that. Hopefully we will get to see some of your wedding on the show. I like you and what you do with your money is your business. I love how proud you are of your son. I'm the same way with my daughter. Keep being you!!!
