Happy New Year everyone, I hope 2013 will be a happy, healthy, and successful year for you and your loved ones.
Thank you for all your comments and well wishes. The holiday season was a very different experience for our family this year as I was stuck to my IV pole three times a day battling endless antibiotics for Lymes disease. The good thing was, I had no stress running around buying unneeded gifts for everyone but instead really enjoyed the love and intimacy of sitting around the fire, focusing on my turkey, and watching movies with my family and close friends. David took the kids to serve meals to the homeless at the midnight mission in downtown L.A. and to them it was our best Christmas ever. I know it sounds cliché, but I guess life throws us what we can handle after all.
Anyway, on to the scoop of the day -- more drama in Beverly Hills! Again, this blog is only meant to give my perspective but not to be judgmental in any way.
Kyle’s dinner party seems so uncomfortable for everyone. The minute Faye starts talking I just want to push the fast forward button. Every word that comes out of her mouth is so abrasive and feels like a violation, because as far as I know, she seems to be of no importance in this group besides being Kyle’s best friend. I don’t feel her opinion to be inspiring or motivating in any way. She is saying Lisa and Brandi are working together, but to me it seems obvious that if anyone is “working together” it’s Kyle, Faye, and Adrienne. Packs of wolves work together, girlfriends shouldn’t. It’s OK to have an opinion, but it’s not OK to be rude.
Would love to have your master cleanse recipe - Is it posted somewhere? Please share if you will. Thanks!
Love you being on the show! Don't leave - We need a few sane ones... You, Lisa... the others are on and off their rockers each week but you and Lisa seem very normal!
Until next time...
PS: Having severe hot flashes... Got something for that? Please share if you do... I know the bioidentical hormones Suzanne Summers talks about would help but the treatment is very expensive... I can't do it. Any other advice would be appreciated.
I am so glad you joined the show. You bring maturity, balance and class. You are definitely, my fav! I wanted to send you best wishes on your recovery. P.S. - I could not agree with you more about Faye. She was completely out of line and I felt her attack on Brandi was mean spirited and totally uncalled for.
Thank you so much for talking openly about Lyme's. I have tried to find a doctor in Southern Ca, who can help us too. After hearing you talk about your treatment compared to what we've been prescribed I feel I need some advice, as we are told different things by different doctors and are left confused. Can you share the names of a doctor or doctors? Thank you adding class to at least 1 Real Housewife cast.
You are simply awesome! Every week you continue to be an example of class and dignity.
Hello, i was wondering if you would share your recipe for your lemon cleanse!?
You are such a breath of fresh air to this group of ladies! I have really enjoyed you. I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy reovery.
Yolanda, Your opinions are so right! Who is Faye? What kind of friend would create discomfort in her supposedly best friends house. If Faye was a true friend she would keep her rubber lips closed, her opinions to herself, and allow Kyle to host her dinner party. Loved your comment in Ojai about these women not being able to communicate, like normal people. Not only are you classy, and beautiful, but girl you are normal, just like my fellow Brit Lisa.
Yoland why are you really never on the show ? any way yes about Faye please someone take her off the show she has no class at all is really not her business what the other ladys and kayle should not be with her it shows her true colors both of them love the drama.. lets see what happens tonite!
Yolanda, you are so right about Faye. No class and low class. Remember her from our days in LA, not to mention the OJ episodes. Why oh why are they dirtying the cast with her? She has wanted prime time attention for years.
Again, Very well said, Yolanda! I love reading your blogs. You speak how it is. I love that about you. You're very quickly becoming one of my favorite "reality" tv stars!
Yolanda you are beyond classy! love you! please stay the same! love you for being classy and real!
You're one of my faves! I love that you speak your mind without acting like a crazy person (you wouldn't think it would be so hard, but no one on these shows seems capable of it!) and I love your house and lifestyle, too! It's great to see someone who is using her riches to facilitate a lifestyle that is ultimately about health, tranquility and beauty in your surroundings, new experiences, and so on, rather than just having $20,000 sunglasses or a new expensive car or whatever. You make being rich look a lot more fun than some of these ladies!
From your blog: Quote..."Thank you for all your comments and well wishes. How many times do people go out and buy something that will either...1) be returned after Christmas 2) given or donated or 3) sold in a spring yard sale? There are exceptions of course, but this happens a lot. I really like that you may be very well off financially, but you seem so down to earth and natural and calm. I believe you could be happy...no matter where you live. You came from humble beginnings, so you are well aware of how blessed you are. I also like your natural approach to health and wellness. Hopefully, some of your ideas will help the other women get healthier, too. I grew up in a family who used a more natural approach first. Medicine was only if absolutely necessary. You bring a welcome balance to this show.
Would you make a blog post on the drink recipe you made for Kyle the other day?? How many times a day should you drink it, how many days, ect. Thank you! Love you on the show!
I don't agree at all with what Sheana did. She knew he was married and so did HE! She is young enough though, that this won't DEFINE who she is the rest of her Life. Brandy and showed that she was truly sorry. Brandy forgave her, and that is all that matters. WWJD!? There is judgement here and now...and it was over the minute Brandy put her arm on Sheana's shoulder! I thought Brandy did wonderfully with her, and the situation.
Love your blogs Yolanda. I am really enjoying how you are letting us get to know you little by little rather than with an onslaught.
I love how you very politely and graciously call everyone out on their nonsense. It is so refreshing and nice to have someone like you on the Housewives. You bring zero negativity and only good energy. Hope you return!
I agree. I think she's great and really wish she would get more screen time. I'm afraid that since she doesn't bring any drama they might not ask her back next season.
Yolonda said: "I have been in turbulent times in my life where I felt so desperate for answers that I visited psychics and clairvoyants. It might seem strange, but it just gives you a sense of hope and direction at that particular moment, and I think that’s what Taylor is looking for."
Again, I totally agree. Personally my most turbulent time so far has been when my son passed away suddenly. When I felt so devastated, grief striken, and shock I reached for everything and ANYTHING that could give the briefest moment of comfort or relief. I gained a ton of weight because I got hooked on those Nestle's ice cream cones, again even 10 seconds of "joy" was worth the consequences. I also reached out to various psychics, mediums and readers. Quite a few were simply cruel and would take money from the saddest of people convincing them that they could "help" the situation. I did my best not to fall for too many of those, but I did find at least one medium that I was/am convinced was for real. When I now watch Teresa on the TLC show "Long Island Medium" I am reminded of my medium. I have to say she did give me a great deal of comfort and it was worth not only the money, but the funny looks I got from my husband. Thanks Yolonda for stating your willingness to be open to these kind of ways to get comfort and not sticking with most people and claiming it is worthless information.
I would love to keep quoting Yolonda because I felt she had many wise things to say this week. At times it feels like her and David are "pretentious" but in SO many ways you are very down to earth compared to the materialism that the other women potray.
Yolonda said: "Kyle says “my girlfriends are like my sisters.” Hmm, somehow I am not feeling a true sisterhood here. If my best friend went off on anyone at a dinner party I was hosting, I would politely interfere and put an end to it. IMMEDIATELY!"
Again, spot on. I agree with EVERYTHING you had to say about that "pit bull intervention"..ahem I mean dinner party that Kyle had.
I wouldn't want to be one of Kyle's girlfriends if she treats them like she does her sister, Kim. I was appalled when she reacted the way she did at Taylors dinner get-together regarding the cigar bar! It was almost like she wanted to cast a bit of suspicion on her own sister's sobriety. She has been less than supportive of Kim all season, tossing snide remarks her way constantly.
Yolonda said: "Sorry but Sheana does not seem to have a moral compass and needs to go home to her mom to get re-educated about what’s right and wrong. At the end of the day Brandi is better off because she is a good woman, she will meet the real love of her life soon and find happiness while her ex will be paying the dues of karma for a long time to come!"
Spot on Yolonda! My fear is that Sheana's mom could be as "lost" as she is, these type of girls/women seem much more common these days then they were in the past, or maybe it is just because of shows like this one highlighting so many of them. I hope it is the later, for my daughter's sake anyway when she gets married.
Yolanda you ar a breath of fresh air. You are elegant, classy and very smart. So glad Brandi has a friendship with you, she needs all the nurturing she can get. Brandi reminds me of a lost soul, and i hope by the end of the season she is as happy as you. Thank you for taking the time to blog every week, it makes us (the viewers) feel you care about us, and to give us your OPINION, I appreciate it thanks
Finally a voice of reason!!! You are a class act!! If Faye continues to be on this show I for one will not watch. She is vial, fake, nasty and is washed up..Kyle, Adrienne and Faye are bullies. It is so sad to watch these (and I use this term lightly) ladies who are adults and claim to have class. pffftt!!!! It's disgusting!!! Kyle is so insecure with herself.
What you said about Kyle, Faye, and Adrienne, is right on. What you said to your daughter about playing sports was completely backwards. How are you on Bravo and throwing around the word "lesbian' as a negative? Having a 'lesbian" for a daughter is nothing to be "afraid" of. Playing sports does not necessarily give someone a "masculine" build. Probably the worst thing that you have said is something to the effect of, "What I want is for my daughter to have a feminine body." It's not about what you want. You already had a modeling career. Let her do what she wants.
I don't think she said lesbain like it was a neagtive. Come on, a little sensitive aren't we?
LisLwr 614EMBR What LisLwr said.
Seriously, people taking Yolanda saying "lesbian" as some sort of insult is ridiculous -- there are many slur words for a woman who's sexual orientation is other women -- lesbian isn't one of them -- in fact, that is the proper word to use.
IOW: The "L" is GLBT does stand for "lesbian," ya know.
hank.decat LisLwr 614EMBR i think it was the way she said it and in the context that it was said, not the word itself, that made some views react negatively toward the statement.
LisLwr 614EMBR It's the entire sentence that makes it deffinately(sp?) sound negative:
"I was AFRAID that my daughter was (long pause) lesbian...
"Afraid" imply's that she would consider it to be a "negative" to Yolanda if indeed her daughter announced she was a lesbian.
YOLANDA---fix up Brandi with a handsome, RICH, GOOD guy. Please,,it'll drive the other women nuts!
Oh, and I forgot, please tell your husband NOT to do the "talking heads" bits. it's a no-win situation for him. He's a celebrity, so I'm sure his ego (which he absolutely deserves to have) wants himself on camera, but don't let him, it opens him up for criticism, and that will only put you in defense mode with the viewers. This is your show, and we love him on the pedastal we have him on already. Camera time when he happens to be home is great, but not the chair. Please don't let him commentate on the women's issues...The producers will want him too, but don't! It was great that he told us all how much he admires you, but next season, have him stop the talking heads. Trust me.......
BAM Yolanda... I LOVE how you write honestly, and let the chips fall where they may from the other women. Though I do think it's a bit of a cop out to say it's not meant judgemental,,,when you're judging things they did, but that's just an observation, not a criticism. Oh dear, I do see how what I just wrote is the same thing you did, lol. Listen, enough with the holding back on the show. You are the voice of reason, and we are all breathing a "Yolanda sigh of relief." Lisa is a "voice of reason" too, but she's a little regrettably (I'm sure) neuteured, because she had previous relationships with these women as you haven't. She has a delicate tight-rope act to perform, that we see she's slowly being forced to fall off of, as she's seeing Kyle for who she is. So get in there and kick some social awareness houswife butt. Tell Kim (who only seems to listen to you,.) that it's time to grow up, and tell Kyle, that her manipulations are as apparent as Adrienne's wish is to be Bethenny. Come on- gloves off Yolanda. Please be the viewer's voice. We're behind you!
You really hit the nail on the head when you compared Vyle, Faye and Adrienne as working together like wolves. That’s exactly how I see it also. Faye----Who is she? And Why is she even on the show? Stay true to Brandi and Lisa they are the ones who have class like you.
I love you Yolanda and your blogs. You are the voice of reason in this season. I however do not like you bringing Schena's mother into the mix. She is a grown women and responsible for her actions and her mother should not be blamed for being a home-wrecker. My siblings and I were raised by the same woman but I am very different from all of them. I don't want to sound full of myself but I think that I'm a much more caring person than the rest of them; and I posses a lot of other redeeming qualities that they do not. That just goes to show you that in the end people will do what they want to do no matter what. Respect is common sense.
I think you are one of the classiest and elegant of all the housewives. Your life seems very extravagant, yet simple compared to all the drama from others. I just turned 45 and feel like it. I was wondering if you could give some pointers on how you look so timeless and if you could post the recipe for your master cleanse and how it helps the body.
Love you Yolanda . There is nothing like watching a woman of CLASS. I truly believe that the only two with any class on that show are Lisa and Yourself and I hope you get Brandi under your wing and help her in that department. She seems so vulnerable . I can't stand Kyle , Kim or Taylor . You are a wonderful addition and I look forward to seeing more of you.
You are awesome!! Love watching someone on the show that seems real in spite of your wealth. Nice to see you cook a meal and sit down to dinner with your children. Hope we get to see more of you on the show.
I really like you! I find you to be compassionate, honest and loyal! I also admire the fact that you see things how they are and state your opinion with class! You're great!
You are really cute. Your spirit shines. You have a really happy, sunshiny glow that comes from inside of you, especially when you smile. I love your nickname, YoYo~ very fitting. I could probably find reasons to fault you, but I don't even want to because you're just so cute. Love watching you with your family!!
Yolanda: thank you for being a lady, I love the show but I am so horrified at the level of rude behavior from some of the women...I could not believe the talking when you husband was playing the piano at your dinner party. Kyle always is in the middle of someones drama complaining about how it affects her..Adrianne needs to get a grip on how to deal with issues I could not believe what she did at Maricios Party...Brani may have been wrong for what was said but how are Adrianne and Paul right for behaving so badly...that issue should have not been brought up at the party....Kim is sober yeah...very good and allot of hard work so kudos. All I can say is if you have such a secret that is so personal about your family why the hell would you put it out to an aquantiance....
My husband is a wise man and says I have very few good friends those are people you grew up with they know your family. YOu don't tell such secrets to people you just met or have an occasional drink or lunch with those people are aquantiances.
