Hello from New York City! I am writing this blog from my bed at the hotel, overlooking Central Park. It's an incredibly beautiful day and even though I wish I was running up and down 5th Avenue or strolling through that park right now, I am excited to rest up to go and see Andy tomorrow night on Watch What Happens Live!
Thanks again for all your well wishes. I am on Day 54 of my treatment and I continue to see some bright spots in my days.
Looking back, though, I can see myself struggling to keep it together and participate as each episode airs. The Lyme disease had so severely affected my brain functioning that it was extremely hard for me to think, form sentences, and stay focused. I was always trying to be so extremely healthy because it was the only way I could get through my days.
Anyway, on to the Bravo matters!
This was the perfect Saturday afternoon in Malibu, and it was so much fun having Lisa and Kyle over for lunch at my house. I absolutely adore Suzanne and have a lot of respect for all the awareness she has brought to anti-aging and bio-identical hormone replacement. I have read every one of her books and whenever I spend time with her and her husband Allen I always feel inspired by how energetic and vibrant they both are.
I just want to thank you for doing this show. You bring a calm intelligence to it. I enjoy that you do not stoop to the level of some of your cast mates and remain calm and focused. If you could just teach them how to have a disagreement without yelling, that would be great. I understand in order for this show to keep its ratings it has to have drama but I think you could help change how that drama plays out. I hope you will be around for awhile. Good luck to you!
You are the only one who is REAL. Your the best thing that has happened
to this show. Love the way you handle the other girls on the show.
Yolanda is terrific. Btw, my anniversary is 11-11-11 and I am a Sheltie lover. I hope you're healthy and Lymes-free. If not try the Law of Attraction! Thanks for your peace and for your sharing of all your positive and loving perspectives.
Yolanda, I adore you. You have such a sweet and genuine nature, such a gentle and loving soul. I'm seriously considering the master cleanse. Thanks for your inspiration!!
Yolanda you are the best!!!!! Please write a book on your diet and exercising plan. Also write about your recipes and decorating...you have beautiful taste!!
Can't help but laugh at the comments that call you a name-dropper. Wondering what they think you are supposed to say when they ask where David is and you tell them he's home with Barbra Streisand. Do they expect you to lie?
You are an absolutely stunning beauty and so down to earth. I loved that you ordered a green drink at the Four Seasons. Thought it was typical and funny of Lisa to try it and not like it. She is wonderful. Loved it even more when you weren't in the least offended and enjoyed your drink. It's exactly what I do when my friends/family think I'm 'depriving' myself when making healthier choices. Actually, I think I'm 'indulging' myself by eating nutritionally rich foods. It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? The fact that you are glowing brighter than these other attractive women is proof that health is the true wealth.
This is what I enjoy. Getting a glimpse into your lives, homes, etc. It's a nice way to relax after work. I don't want to see people attacking each other out of spite. It's upsetting. It's negative. So I fast forward through the Kyle & Fayke portions. However, I replay the scenes that you and Lisa are in. I love your house, the grounds, the lemons, the flowers, the interior design, the view, the relationship with your husband and children. You inspire me to want to bring more beauty, health and harmony into my life. Ah.. that's it. I love to be inspired and you are inspiring.
Thank you for being you. Fortunately, you don't need the money, so the moment you don't want to be on the show anymore.... flee! Then, if you want, get a show where you can focus on the things that are more important.
Best wishes to you and yours.
I just want to let you know that I find you to be by far one the of the most beautiful women in the world. You carry yourself in such a respectable fashion at all times and I envy your ability to stay calm and collected in the most extreme circumstances. The way you conduct yourself just adds to your beauty. I hope you will remain a fixture on the show. Although you may be wealthy you don't seem judgmental or allow money to interfere with how you treat people. In my opinion you are the most relatable housewife on all of the series. I hope you continue to stay true to yourself and your beliefs. I absolutely adore you and would love to meet you in person. Stay true and beautiful and keep doing your thang for your man. I also enjoy taking good care of my man and showing him how much he is appreciated. God bless!
Yolanda, I like you You are one of the few grownups on the show. I like that you call them out when the women get catty. If you want to keep the knives out of your back, steer clear of Kim, Kyle, Taylor and Adrienne. Keep Lisa, Brandi and Marisa around. Dont get caught up in the drama of those other idiots.
I just love your outlook and perspective on things. Your home is beautiful and I love your views on relationships. You bring such a breath of fresh air to this show! Maybe there's a health/wellness/lifestyle book in your future? I would love to read it!
You are such a good sport! I love that you didn't complain at all at Brandi's pole dancing class. I love your go-getter attitude! I love you, Lisa, and Brandi!
I'm so glad you are on this show and grateful to you for sharing your journey. I had to tell you that my 29 yr old daughter wants to BE you!
I also told my husband about the term 'second spring' used for menopause and he said "Hell, you've been going thru that since I met you!"
We've been together 33 yrs - and (he's right) - I'm feisty!
We're both fighters so get better EVERY day, Yoyo. You are a JOY!
I like you Yolanda. You have a good head on your shoulders. I hate to say, but Suzanne Sommers is a charlatan as far as I am concerned. I don't have strong feelings, really, but I don't like her whipping out her pills. So 'product placement.' Whatever . . .
Anyway, I always enjoy reading your blog. Xx
Yolanda, any chance you could post a link about what your workout routine is? You look amazing, clearly whatever you are doing is working! So glad you joined the cast!!
I have been busy the past few weeks and have not been able to keep up with the episodes of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I was able to watch one of your shows today and wanted to comment again. You and your husband are a pleasure to watch and I love to watch how you try to please him by preparing something special for dinner and then, carrying it outside for just the two of you for dinner. You must have been trained well in the arts of marriage. I read your blog that you have been sick and I wish you a quick recovery. You are a wonderful addition to the cast.
again~give the artist you ripped off the rest of the $ for his painting. SUPPORT struggling artists! Your in the loop of artists, you should get it. Did you see how you looked bragging how you ripped him off? Not Pretty...
I haven't been following the blog and don't know if cast members check in, but just in case I wanted to share the website of an herbalist who my doctor recommended I check out for his recommendations on natural treatment for Lyme disease. We suspect I have a very old infection, I've been chronically sick for many years and am only recently starting to unravel it. I don't know if Bravo will let me insert a direct link, so his name is Stephen Buhner, the website is Buhnerhealinglyme dot com. He doesn't sell any herbs himself, just makes recommendations, and people apparently are getting results. I've had some alternative testing and treatment (basically energy medicine), and it seems like the herbal combo he recommended was helpful for me, I purchased it from Green Dragon Herbs, it's basically the Buhner recommended blend and seems like a very high quality product. My most recent test showed no evidence of Borellia Garini. I know you are into natural remedies (I'm well familiar with the Master Cleanse among others), so if you haven't heard of this, in case the antibiotic regime isn't effective long term, this might be something to check out. I hope you are successful! Lyme can be so devastating, and different in everyone. Take care.
Yo, I hope your feeling better, people don't realize how tough it is to be sick and not know what's going on. I pray u make a full recovery, ur blessed to have access to all the medical care! Wish I could afford Bi-odentical hormones! Susan looks awesome! I find you warm and accepting, I love your garden, time for garden party next season WHEN your well! Loved the scene where your cuddling w your man, every man is happy with a home cooked meal!
Your amazing! I feel the same way about my husband! Married 32 years and loving it! Please don't let these girls ruin what you have! Stand up for yourself! What Taylor said was demeaning! I think that definitely comes from jealousy! I love your home ! I wish I didn't live in the Midwest so I could grow lemons! But we do have cherry and apple trees!
Watching this last episode I finally understood your connection to Lisa. Yolanda you have obviously taken your friends side and Brandi's for that matter. I like Lisa and I have no issue with her other then her biased attitude for Brandi. In Lisa's case its normal because she is angry at Adrienne and she believes that Brandi had her back. You on the other hand dont know Adriene and you make remarks about her and always jump down the other ladies throats for defending their friend who isnt there to defend her self. Yet its ok for you to defend Lisa who is there to defend herself. That is hypocritical dont you think? You come across condencending and honestly someone like you needs to be knocked down a couple of notches. You say you are happy and your life is amazing and all that. Good for you! concentrate on that and keep your nose out of the Adrienne situation. Honestly you dont know the whole story only what Lisa and Brandi told you. You know the saying there is always three sides to a story!
I had no idea you were sick with Lyme disease oh my goodness I hope you feel better soon. thank you for showing us what it's like for a true lady to run a household. lots of love to you.
Hi Yolanda, the more I watch you, the more I like you. Hopefully your personality won't change through the course of the show. I admire you as a woman and especially as a wife. Curious to see more about your lifestyle, diet, and exercise tips. Do you have a personal website/blog where we can get more of you? =)
I am so happy how fast you caught on to Kyle being the pot stirer that she is. If you get a chance View season 1 or 'game night' to see how horribly her and Kim treated Brandi. Talk about mean girls and bullying. I think all the viewers jaws hit the floor...it was absolutely unbelievable. You are a pleasure to watch and have a wonderfully open mind. Take care.
I think your amazing I love watching you every week your awareness in a healthy lifestyle has empowered me to take the next step in my 2nd spring I love that expression by the way 40's are something to be proud of with 4 children of my own there grown , nothing wrong with me time , I'm following the cleanse too 20lbs down awesome , keep up the great work on RHOBH
I impatiently await your entertaining/homemaking/recipe book...of course you are writing one, right?! When you speak, people listen, and I think your style is natural, unpretentious, and accessible. love your home, and appreciate your wisdom!
You seem to have aspirations to become Malibu's answer to Martha Stewart. I wish you much luck with that, but I also caution you. Your husband seems like someone who enjoys being the center of attention. I don't think he will enjoy you eclipsing him by becoming the biggest celebrity in the house.
My new favorite. I admire that you are not afraid to stand up and speak your mind, nobody pushed you around. Your honesty is so refreshing on this show. You are beautiful yet understated. I was beginning to get bored with the show, but now I will continue to watch. Bravo, get rid of Taylor and Adreinne - yawn. And yes Yolanda, you need to write a recipe book.
I love that the trouble makers (Kyle, Camille, Adrienne, Taylor) cannot put you down! You are just too classy and strong for them. They look like fools when they come against you. Love that you are on the show (along with Lisa of course).
I honestly started watching the show because of you. You are sush a great model for women in this society! I am sorry you are going through this issues with your health but you are a fighter and you will win this battle. I would like to know if you have a website where you share your recipes? Everything looks so awesome on the show, I was wondering you would share it with us?
I was sorry to hear you are having health issues. I too have health issues so I know the struggle.
I wish you weren't so preachy and didn't name drop as much as you do......kinda drives me crazy.....I'm just sayin'.
You can google it or they now sell it in health food stores! It is the lemonade diet or the lemonade cleanse. It is easy to find; Amazon has the ingredients for sell.
@Florida_Gal...You're SO right! Health is the real, "wealth." Money cannot buy happiness, peace of mind or health. Some of these women do not, "get that." Real beauty comes from within. If I re-watch any portion of the show, it is always the scenes with Yolanda and with Lisa and Ken. Yolanda and Lisa are both blessed to have husbands who love them for who they are.
@ccwriter...Yolanda is the one I most relate to on the show. I grew up with a mom who used a more natural approach to health first...and meds, but only if absolutely necessary. My maternal grandmother lived to be almost 99. She was more alert in her later years. She was an outdoor enthusiast and loved life. Yolanda also came from humble beginnings and she is very aware of how blessed she truly is. I also came from humble beginnings. I had parents who taught us appreciation and gratitude for what we did have. I feel Yolanda could truly be happy anywhere. She puts her family first. The best word I can use to describe her is CALM...even during her battle with lyme disease. She is also bringing the often misunderstood illness to the forefront...which will help many others who have suffered the same symptoms, not knowing what was wrong. She brings such a positive energy to the show with no expectation of, "entitlement".
@Itokagi23 YES! Yolanda is a much needed breath of fresh air and class!
@Nightengale I agree. Kyle is definitely a mean girl. and a major source of drama. She loves to instigate a good fight and then back away and watch the sparks fly...then ride in with her fancy car and be "miss understanding". Makes me wanna hurl.....
@LillianPush Kinda hard to eclipse an idol like David Foster........ he's a legend in the music industry......He was a month long topic of study in our recording class at the art institute!
@Nebfan22 Thank you Yolanda (bowing at her feet), for so eloquently telling Kyle to put a fork in it already or as Brandi not so eloquently puts it to STFU. LOL Brandi I love you but learn from Yolanda. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can't understand how no one picked up on the fact that it was originally Kyle who brought the topic of Adrienne up in the first place. Poor Brandi who I love fell for it. And now she's convinced she's the sole cause for everything. Kyle pumped it for all it's worth and she keeps on. Like you said, she spoiled THREE dinners carrying on about Adrienne. Enough already. Where is Kyle's husband, Mauricio to tell his wife to shut up already PLEASE.
@joyceluvsjames I don't think she name drops. She's just connected. At least she's not a wanna-be like the others
ITA - It's baffling that many folks don't realize the gifts that man has given the music industry.
