I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving! Personally, I have so much to be thankful for -- which leads me right in to Kimberly's graduation. Growing up as a child actress, there was much I got to do and yet so much that I missed out on. Therefore when I had kids I made it a point to make sure that they could do anything and everything that they dreamed of. A great education was definitely right at TOP of my list!
Kimberly and I had two very different ideas about what she was going to wear to graduation. However, since it was her special day I left it up to her decide. She came home with what looked to me like a t-shirt dress. . .not exactly what I had in mind. I was a little confused at first and thought to myself, "Wow, things sure have changed since I was young." I do have other children who have also have graduated and I knew that she was missing the mark on this one. Kimberly always has beautiful taste, but this time it was time for Mommy to take charge. So off we went to look for a dress to see if we could compromise! We did it! We finally found a dress that was just perfect and made us both happy.
When I saw Kyle talking with her girls about where Alexia should go to schools, I had a flash back to last year with my kids when we had the very same conversation with Kimberly. We were all sitting in my den and discussing where Kimberly should go to school. My oldest daughters were encouraging her to go out of state and experience a new city, while I sat there and encouraged her to stay in California. I didn’t know how I would handle her moving somewhere far way. I totally understood what my sister was saying. Kimberly got accepted to colleges far away in Oregon and even Boston -- and I couldn’t be happier that she chose to stay in state and is just a train ride away. Our family is so close and I would love to see our daughters get to go to school close to each other.
