OK, mama is home and catching up on two episodes. Took the false eyelashes off, the hair extensions out, and it’s time to blog. Yes, it’s the end of Fashion Week in New York, and I’m feeling TIRED.
If I were Mary, I’d have wanted to jump over the table and pound that drunken Tareq for his horrible accusations. Since we are in D.C., not NJ, Mary did not do that. She listened to Tareq implicate her daughter for (what?) car theft? Equipment damage? Hard to say, and now of course there are stories online that this happened two years prior to filming, but never mind. Going off what we saw onscreen, Tareq didn’t have the cojones to come out and directly tell Mary what Lolly allegedly did, and I don’t buy it for a second.
Cat got sassy with Edwina Rogers, and I lapped it up. Personally, there’s something I truly love about women attempting to be polite when their political beliefs are questioned. Edwina really just wanted to be on camera, invite Cat to a party and serve some cucumber sandwiches. She didn’t want to talk about healthcare, which Cat sensed and pounced on. Well played, Cat.
The men came out this week! Jason continued his papa bear role, from backing up Mary last week with Tareq, to finding a potential bridge to Stacie’s birth father on Facebook this week. Meanwhile Rich wore fetching orange pants and sardonically reminded Mary that the only way her supersonic closet lock will work is if she uses it. We then moved on to the Men Against Breast Cancer gala, which touched us here in Brooklyn as Simon’s first wife is a 16-year survivor of the disease. What a great segment, of course made humorous by the ladies’ reaction to the male models on the runway. Were we at a fashion show or at Chippendales? Regardless, I’m glad we got to see Paul Wharton again, even if only on the runway!
8 million? 8 dollars? 800? 800,000? Did anyone else wonder what went along with the number eight Tareq mentioned as his house price range? Michaele busied herself with dreaming of the $20 million home they drove past in Spring Valley, or wanted to stay at the Four Seasons – she couldn’t decide which. No matter, as long as it’s not a condo. Perhaps they could have bought Lynda’s Ritz Carlton apartment?
Speaking of Lynda, she cracked me up. What former Southern Baptist converts to Judaism, burns sage and pours holy water all over her new house? Lynda, that’s who. I hope she does fabulous things with her windows and the other things she wants to fix up.
After I got over my anger at them being included on the show, I wanted to find ways to feel sympathy for the Salahis. I don’t. They bug me. I didn’t care about their renovation plans for the winery, or that Tareq and his mother have issues. I didn’t care about Michaele’s tears; I just wanted her off the screen. On the other hand, I wanted to jump through the TV and hug Cat when she tried to hold it together over the loss of her friend. Funny how that works.
Please come back....DC is killing me! Miss You, Bethenny, Sonja and Ramona big time! How did you and Simon make out during fashion week? Love the two of you. I can't stand to see Jill's mug shot everytime I open up DC's blog page! (yuk) Be well~
Alex, As someone who took such criticism from other cast members, I am shocked at your blog! You are jumping on the bandwagon and blasting the Salahis'.
Wow, I misjudged you.
Fun to hear your take on the DC girls and guys. In agreement with your observations. I get a kick out of the viewers who defend bad and spooky behavior. Maybe, it's the need to cheer for what they preceive to be the underdog. Or they are themselves the spooky people in their world and they need to defend their position. Who can say. You look great and looking forward to more ny fun.
Love your blogs Alex, you tell it like it is! Looking forward to seeing you on the next Real Housewives of NYC!
Don't think you are one to judge what the Salahis can or cannot afford. None of us are really in the right to speculate. Would you want someone to do that to you? Its very hurtful and demeaning. I was surprised to see you do this as you are a lady who rarely resorts to these silly antics. I hope all is well with you and your sweet family. I am a fan of yours just was surprised to see you go on to this particular topic and wanted to voice my opinion. All the best.
Hurry back NYC! Always enjoy reading your blog. The Salahis bug me too! They're creepy. Do you find it strange that every time they are shown they are staying in a new place? Who moves around that much? I can't wait until RHONY returns.
Hi Alex, I was just diagnosed with breast cancer -- "Invasive Ductal Carcinoma" -- scheduling surgery tomorrow. I'm scared. Please pray for me.
I really really adore you. I hope you and Simon and the kiddos faired well through the stress of fashion week. God Bless you.
Love Alex as usual. Expect only truth from her.
As for the Republican health-care lobbyist..........come on!! She deserves what she gets.
Why don't people just get over last season of NY. Jill is the heart and SOUL of NEW YORK CITY. The same few haters on the internet have NOTHING better to do than write mean words. Love not hate. I pray Jill comes back this season strong and smiling. We will always love us some JILL ZARIN! DC ROCKS..
Alex--How can you cheer Cat on for being so unbelievably rude to Edwina?! The time for ideas and healthcare discussion was yet to come at the reception that Cat was being invited to. Edwina certainly kept her poise while being attacked, and kudos to her! Cat behaved in a classless manner. Go back to England and wait two years for an operation, Cat!
Love your new look & how you write! Polished and concise! Looking forward to RHONJ returning and seeing more of you and Simon.
Dear Dear Alex, It is so hard to be patient whilst waiting for your take on things! As per usual, you are spot on. You were my first adored one and that was out of the chute. Now, and there are others I include in the glow of love but I must say, Cat is right up there with you. I do not know that she is as cultured as I find you to be but I do know that she is articulate and savvy as all get out! You have my heart. She is in the running. I do find Mary, Stacie and Lynda all to be quite lovely and truly their own people. Nothing fake in those women and I look forward to enjoying them. Don't care to mention those horrendous bores, the you know whos. Hope you and your boys are having a blast, Candace
Alex, great blog as always....so look forward to your postings!! They are always "spot on". Ditto, no blogs from Jill, please,Bravo.
I AGREE with EVERYTHING you said, Alex, 100%. Love you and looking forward to seeing you again on RHNY!!!
This is the last post I'm going to attempt, since most don't seem to make it online. Very frustrating! Anyway, I didn't know Simon had a first wife! Interesting revelation! I like you when you act normal, flawed, and don't discuss "camera time." Looking forward to the RHONY!
Alex, I love your honesty. To the point attitude. What will you do without Bethany for the next season? You both are such the same and so close that I know I will miss seeing the both of you together. I love RHONY. I love the fact that you do what you want to do and not what people want you to do... You wear what you want and parent the way you see fit... Will you be writing another book? Stay strong and have fun with your boys.
Alex, Please don't misconstrue, but I sincerely enjoy reading your blogs far more than watching you on RHNY. Your blogs are mature, concise, and well written and just thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't care for the "messenger mouse turned mean girl" you portrayed last season. I guess I just like the way you write best! Keep it up and Bravo should hire you as the RH blogger and guest on all the shows.
Loved you blog as always Alex and was sooooooooooo glad Jill didn't chime in where she isn't wanted.
Keep up the good word and BRAVO keep Jill outta here.
Great blog Alex! Bravo should have you do an interview show, kinda like Andy's. You seem to have your finger on the pulse of the intelligent viewers.
You are so cute. You do tend to see the humorous without being too bitchy which would not be good on you. Can't wait to see you soon.
Alex, I love your insight and honest opinions...and ever since you stood up to Jill on RHONY, you've taken and worn that title VERY WELL!!!! I absolutely adore you and your honesty! Hope all is well in NYC!!!
