The time has come to say goodbye! This may be the last blog I write for RHWODC (unless there is anything I just have to add next week)! I had to add a couple of quotes to this blog too.
I moved to USA with my daughters to support Charles' career in 2008 and accepted the offer to appear on this show having absolutely no idea what was going to happen on any level. I had never heard of the show as I rarely watch TV! I'm a music girl and prefer writing usually. It was Charles' boss that recommended I went for it when she put me forward, and of course I would never have accepted if he wasn't behind the idea. Also FYI Charles was taken off covering the White House in January PRIOR to filming as Newsweek could no longer afford to cover it along with Time magazine. That was one reason she recommended the show, good promotion of his incredible talent! So his job at the WH was not affected by the show. That's BS.
I truly loved him very much, he completely broke my heart, and it's taken me months to rebuild any confidence. Without airing our dirty laundry on this blog, no one would be able to imagine in their wildest dreams what was really going on behind the scenes or what major issues there were from the start with our marriage. Our divorce was inevitable, and once again I had to put my daughters' happiness first, then my own, in order to be free, which took a huge amount of courage and strength I wasn't sure I had at the time. He DID NOT leave me, I asked him to leave until he could behave like a responsible adult around the children. It was like jumping off a cliff into the emptiness. But I did it, because I had to for the children's sake first and foremost.
I NEVER blamed the show for my impending divorce FYI. If we had a strong marriage, we could have worked through everything. I supported Charles in everything he did, it sadly just wasn't mutual.
"To look back is a task. It is like re-entering a trap, or a Labyrinth, from which one has only too lately, and too narrowly, escaped." Louise Bogan (1897-1970) American poet and critic.
Cat, Cat, Cat I absolutely love, love, love you! If it had not been for you, this show would have been just as terrible as the NY, BeverlyHills and House Husbands shows! I love that you are honest and up front but yet you still have a heart of your own that can be affected by others. You are an amazing woman and I know for a fact I'm not the only Cat lover! We support you and pray that you return next season or else I'm going to cancel my DVR recording of the show! I would love to sit and have tea in DC some time with you because people watching with you would be a hilarious time. Chin up love
Cat.....I will miss you!!!!!!!!!!! You and your "realness"!!!!!!!1 You tell it like it is, and that is the way it should be! don't ever feel bad for being honest! I will be glad NOT to see that psycho Michaele again, but am hoping that you will be back!!!! Stay real!
Please tell me you're coming back next season!!! I will miss you terribly if you don't. I can truly relate about how horrible divorce can be and I thought you were great the whole season while going through such difficult time. You were truly the only homest one in the bunch. Best of luck to you in whatever you do! You'll be missed!!!!!!!!
Cat, I get you. You have a dry British wit, you're clever and quick, intelligent and sassy. Thoroughly enjoyed you all season and knowing what you have been going through the things you did and said and how you looked sometimes is completely understandable. You have a good heart, one can see that. Michaele is a kook and I do not believe it is all Tareq generated. Erika is jealous of you, that is plain to see. Stacie shoud never have supported her actions and Stacie leapt to the wrong conclusion about you being biased (I think she is ultra sensitive one that issue). Mary and Lynda are darling, good friends. Wish you and your girls who are the cutest, all the best. You have done a good job with all the turmoil.
I have a similar character flaw (?) in that I tend to say what I think trying to be funny sometimes and other times I just feel the need to be honest and say what others are thinking but afraid to speak the truth. It is a hard lesson when feelings get hurt unintentionally - so I feel your pain in that regard. I still think it takes all kinds for the world to work and we happen to be the kind that speak the truth as we see it. Everyone is not expected to see it the same. I love your sense of humor. I don't believe it is a Brit thing - it's just your personality, and I happen to like your genuiness, unlike the Barbie. The other girls are great too. Please come back!
This American LOVES you!!! I did not start out loving you I didn't even like you at first. But you quickly won me over. I think the moment was when you confronted the "Republican Healthcare Lobbyist". You go girl!!!!!! You have bollocks of steel. It quickly became apparent to me as the season went on what a good heart you have. You may be rude and obnoxious at times but you are honest and real and brave and I adore you. I can't imagine filming a show like this at all much less while dealing with what you were going through. As far as not crying in front of your children that is life. I like Stacy but I think she broke a "woman rule" critisizing your parenting in that instance. Life sucks sometimes. I know I have a child with Autism and sometimes he and my other two children see me cry. I worry how it affects them but I can't keep them in a bubble (as much as I wish I could). Children need to see that it is ok to be sad or angry. It's ok to cry. As long as they also see that you pick yourself up and dust yourself off and make the best of a bad situation. Your girls see that. You will find happiness again, if you haven't already and they will see that too. You're teaching them how to be a survivor and that's the most important lesson a woman can teach her children (especially daughters). BTW I really really REALLY hope you're on the next season. You're the best thing about this show and I would miss you SO much if you left the show. But whatever you do I wish you and your children happiness and joy.
Wow....this blog blew me away. Very nicely written. Although I actually liked you throughout the season and wasn't all that offended by your "rudeness", I now like you even more. Everything you said is spot on and I respect you for it.
I hope if anything good has come of this trainwreck season and all the horrific things that were going on in your life is that you now have a genuine fan base as well as some very close friends in DC (some of your fellow castmates).
Best of luck to you!!!!
Thank you Cat for letting us into your lives in what must have been a very trying time for you. You were my favorite from the start and I am so sorry that you have been misunderstood. Many warm wishes to you and your girls as you embark on this new chapter in your life! Your strength and your warm nature was very apparent to me...be damned all those that hate, they just don't get it! And if they still don't after reading this blog where you poured your heart out to us, then they are the ones who need help. Thanks again and much love to you from this fellow mom!
Cat, loved you on the show. So sorry for your problems and things will get better. It must have been very difficult for you but, you seem to be a very strong person and I believe you will rise above it all. I hope you love the USA as much as I loved England. I visited there last year and it was wonderful, and so were the people. Can't wait to go back.
Good luck, best wishes and many blessings for you and your girls. You are not a mean girl. You are a beautiful person, thats how GOD made you and bullocks on any who think different.
Love you Cat! So sorry about Bravo leaving your Father's segment out ofthe show, due to the "Plastic not Fantastic" couple. Infact-- you made the show!! At least somebody put there is real!! Good Luck with everything!! And your Book!
Good luck to you Cat. I enjoyed you on the show. Too many people jump in and judge and forget that this is a tv show with cameras rolling, and some very creative editing. You were brave to do this show with what was going on in your personal life. Cheers for that and I'd so like to see some of your critics jump in there and do better.... Success on your book...
Cat I absolutely adore you! To be honest, I had very little hope for this RHW show because D.C. seems so very stuffy. But now I wish I lived in D.C. so we could hang & wear pink together. I think you are smart, hysterical, incredibly strong, a great mom & refreshingly honest. I may be an American citizen, but I think I have always had some true Brit honesty inside of me. I know what it feels when people make a rash judgment about yourself just because you are totally honest with them. When times get tough, remember to "just keep swimming!” (I love that quote)
Cat I think your great. I love a woman who speaks her mind. If people don't "get you" it's their loss. I never thought you were rude I just thought you said what was on your mind with out being all PC about it some people just can't handle that.
Cat, I do hope that you will be back for Season 2. I rather enjoyed you and all your antics. I do understand how you feel going through a divorce, it is not easy. I think you are a wondeful and caring person that people judged without getting to know you. You stood up for what you believed in and one of them being not putting up with all the lies the Salahis fed everyone. For anyone to believe anything that Michaele says is beyond me. I enjoyed your blog and wish you all the best!!!
Cat,
You were my favorite housewife on RHODC. I sincerely hope there will be a season two, and that you will be on it. Thanks for your sincerity.
Your Fan, Sarah
Bravo! Everything you said makes perfect sense. I think you are a very genuine person. You even having kind words for Stacie when she obviously hurt you. Best of luck!
Cat I adore you and you tell it like it is. Do not change!!!! You are WONDERFUL don't let ANYONE tell you differently. You can come and hang out with me anytime you want!!!!!
Charles is an idiot and you don't need him......You sooo much better than him. The world is waiting for you!!! GO GIRL!!!
Cheers to the most misinterpreted Real Housewife in history (pun intended)! I have loved EVERY minute of watching your story unfold in RHDC--your blunt nature (while "rude" at times) has been refreshing in a culture that has been taught to smile even if they have a mouth full of poo--thank you for your ability to call a pile of poo a "pile of poo" and not a flower garden!! Hope to see you back for Season 2. All the best, dah'ling!
Oh Please, many of us have been there, what seems like good choices turn out to be bad choices.. selfilshness all the way around.. Best of luck in your future..You'll be okay as long as you respect others as you choose to be respected.. :>)
Cat - you rock. I, along with many others as you've mentioned before, was not exactly sure what to think of you at first. But I have to say as the show progressed, your true colors shined through, and we were all able to see what an awesome, smart, witty, strong and independent woman you really are! It's been so much fun watching you! Wishing you all the best as you move forward with your new life with your daughters. Hope you come back for second season as the show wouldn't be the same without you! Also, what a great final blog post - it seemed very you - pure, raw honesty!
Dearest, Darling Cat,
You are absolutely fabulous and gorgeous too! I love your no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is personality. It's balanced by a true heart and self-knowledge that most of us wish we had. Your girls are lovely and intelligent. Kudos!
At the reunion, you were glowing and seemed lighter. Here's wishing you the happiness and success you have earned and deserve. And thanks for my new favorite word, "bollocks." Would LOVE to hang out with you!!!!
Best wishes, Catherine Baker
Cat, I just loved watching you on the show and felt you were frenquently misunderstood. I wish you wouldn't go, but know if I were in the same situation would do the same. All the best to you and your girls!
Cat! I actually read your blog from begining to end! I have never done that before if the blog was more than a "page" long! I "get" you!!! You are, by far, the "realest" of all the housewives of all the franchises!!! You talk like you're not coming back for another season. Please reconsider if this is true! It wouldn't be worth watching if you were gone. I cannot relate to dealing with a divorce but I can relate to sadness (over the loss of a loved one) and dealing with a not-so-perfect marriage. I commend you for the way you chose to raise your girls. They seem like very well adjusted children. I wish you loads of luck!!! You deserve it! Muah!!!
Cat, I like you! You are fun to watch and you call it like you see it. I hope you are back for Season 2 without Mr. & Mrs. Plastic but not Fantastic. The show would be fine with just you, Lynda, Mary & Stacie. Esp. since Rich, Ebong & Jason are hilarious.
Cat, I hope you're on for season 2 and I hope there is a second season! You've been a joy to watch and I'm sorry that things were stressful for you during filming. I think you have the funniest one liners!
You are not so much rude as you are raw & human. I think you are brilliant. Hope to see you back soon.
Cat! I appreciate your candidness and honesty. Separation and divorce (especially with children involved) is pain and a different kind of lonliness a person can't understand unless they've gone through it. I know that pain, that lonliness, and I thank you for sharing some of yours in the blog. It can't be easy to put that out there. Wish you all the best. Perhaps you will pioneer "Real Housewives of the U.K."!
Cat, I sure hope you return for a season 2. I loved you and your honesty on the show. You were my favorite and feel you brought allot of character to the show.
My very best wishes to you Cat. I truly admire your strength and enjoyed watching you on the show. I can relate to the situation you were in with your husband during that time and I know that it took a tremendous amount of courage to follow through with the show committment while things were so unsettled in your personal life. I look forward to reading your book.
I know you must hear this a lot, but I heart you! You and Lynda are my two favorite housewives of the entire franchise because you, more than anyone else, stay true to yourselves and keep it Real!
Honestly, I never perceived you as rude. When it comes to discussing the important things, i.e. people you love (like Charles), you keep things incredibly classy. It only seems to be when you are dealing with bullshit (pronounced Sa-la-hi?) that you become unpleasant, and even then you are only saying what everyone secretly wishes someone would. Occasionally you were aloof, but, as you said, you were alone in a foreign country, thousands of miles away from everyone you care about. Who wouldn't be?
my favorite moments of this season were: a) Your Tyra impression (that was when i knew i would really like you) b) Your lunch with Edwina c) You chillin with Jason B... you guys are hilarious!
It is my understanding that you will not be back on the show if there is a next season, and you have to do what is best for you and your kids. But I wish you the very best, and will be staying tuned as to when the book comes out! I cant wait to read it!
Cheers
Cat, I think you are awesome! I love that you "tell it like it is"! I hate people who "blow smoke & sunshine" up (you-know-where) all the time! I think you have a good heart and you don't say things w/ malice. That's why I enjoy your perspective. I'm glad you found such good friends in Lynda & Mary living so far from home, family and comfort zone. Good girlfriends will help you get through anything! I too hope you'll be back for Season 2! Wishing you all the best!
Cat, looks like you have many fans - you can certainly add me to your list. First you are beyond beautiful - I'm crazy about your smile and your punchy straight forward (no hold) attitude. You are blessed with confidence and class and beauty. I'm a gay man, but I love girls, especially the energetic beauties. To be honest, I was nearly married to a vibrant confident woman in the early 90's. Your energy, mannerisms, wit and careful word choice reminds me of her. Please consider appearing back for future seasons. You bring style and opinion to this show as a main character. It is a shame that your relationship with a long-term loved-one. However, observing you through the show and reading your blog, confidently you will reach peace, I hope ! Best of luck to you - you are truly beautiful (mind and physically) - Obviously, if I was not gay, a woman like you would certainly interest me ! Nevertheless, you seem like a sincere friend to have. Only the best for you, Cat !!
Cat, i must say that you are a stunning lady. So many times i could see your pain this season, although you did an incredible job of maintaining. I just wanted to reach through the screen and let you know that someone could see and understands. I do hope that you will be in season 2 as well. You are an incredibly beautiful woman with such strength i definantly applaud you.........praises to you and keep the courage my lady.
Oh Cat.......gonna miss you for sure. You nailed every point and I am glad you did so. Yeah, Lynda, what a fabulous woman, and Mary as well I'm sure once the social rigamaroar is gotten through. But, anyway.......love you, your daughters and the doggies. Cannot wait for your book and I will be first in line to buy my copy. Charles was obviously off and sometimes it was painful to watch you try so hard with him. Hope you will be coming back, even though I'm sure you're wanting to get back to London........but there are those of us who felt that you were the greatest, you were real and you definitely put it out there for us. Thanks Cat, and blessings to you and the girls.
Catherine! You have been such an inspiration to me through these shows, as a women who speaks her truth, so consistantly, it is very hard not to have respect for you. Although I adore, totally adore Stacie, I felt thier judgement of you was a bit rushed...and in a society where race is still a sensitive topic, for BOTH, white and black people, it is understandable, that misunderstandings can arise between new friends. Although I can sense and understand and see your genuine heart and mind, and in time all things genuine come to our rescue. You are a women that I look up to, and has class and was, as was most of the show, a group of revolutionary spirits, lighting up the television with new ideas and conversation, and giving the world a group of women with some real class...something that is priceless for our girls to see. I cherish your spirit, and your wit, which had me rolling on the floor laughing most days. If people are uncomfortable with others honesty than the fault is of the recieving line. I can't wait to read your book, and as a women who lost a close friend to suicide as well, you, unknowingly held my hand through your journey. I wish you the best and adore you, truely, and you have been a gift to America. So thank you... and keep purring Kitty Cat!!
You are the most thoughtful and thought-provoking of the show. I never watched and thought you were rude. I thought "what an outrageous and funny (and ultimately good hearted) lady!" I can't imagine the pain of dealing with a divorce while being filmed for a TV show. And I can't imagine the insult of doing it while having to deal with the Salehis. Best, best of luck. I'll look for you in your next life as a writer! As Coeurdoux said, "Chin up love." :)
I am not a full fledged fan but do want to say I thought you wrote an excellent blog above..really enjoyed it and wish you well. I have to say I started off not liking you at all then you kind of grew on me especially when I learned of all the behind the scenes problems you were dealing with but then when I saw you at the reunion show with the cynicism back and the constant eye rolling and the turning to the other mean girl (Lynda) to find common ground about various mean comments being made, it kind of had me feeling the way I did at the start of the season, I am sorry to say. I think you have a lot to work out and i am sure you must be thrilled the filming is over, I could never be on a show like this being scrutinized for my every move. I am sorry your heart was broken but I am sure you will find love and true happiness again and probably when you least expect it:)
Grace, class, funny, loving, powerful and honest to a fault. You are by far my favorite of the housewives - period! I do hope you will be back for another season. Looking forward to release of your book - I'm sure it is as funny and honest as you are on tv. Wishing you all the best in your future!!!
Cat: I never thought you were racist or even rude, just misunderstood. You were actually my favorite HW from the very start! I think judgmental people like Evil Erica sit on the edge of their seat waiting for some white person to say something that seems even remotely racist and then pounce all over them. What you said about Obama and Tyra wasn't even a big deal, they just happened to be black and that makes you a racist???? I think people need to chill out. And that colored comment? If taken out of context it would definitely sound racist and I think you knew that as you said on the reunion. It was a joke and that's the way I understood it, as banter between you and Paul. And it was funny. People just don't know what others are going through, like your marriage going down the tubes the entire time your filming. So you have an off day and go to Aunt France's in a sour mood and again you are labeled a racist??? These people are ridiculous!!! I think this whole thing escalated because of just one person-Erica. She is truly a mean girl and needs to get a life. You, however, are wonderful and should stay just the way you are because you are perfect. I can't wait to read your book. I wish you and your girls all the happiness in the world because you deserve it. And the Salami's? I won't even waste my time talking about them, they are a complete joke. God Bless!!!
Cat you are AMAZING! And just by watching this show, I 'get you' as well! Continue to be who you are and don't let the people bring you down! You have been a fresh of breath air on this show and I'm truly a fan!! Hope to meet you at an up and coming book signing soon :-)
Cat, You are a beautiful woman, at the beginning I felt you were rude as the show continued I found you to hilarious. I love your sense of humor and speaking as a black woman that work in a workplace majority white, the colored remark with your friend was funny not offensive at all. I hope Staci's Nigerian background does not make her analize every black joke.
As for you relationship that is your business and if it was time to end it who better to know than you. Why Michaele thinks among all her social climbing events she still has time to be a relationship expert is just, you know. REALLY.

cat you are british you have no right what so ever to be in that show and how dare you ridicual micheale
