Thanks again everyone for watching the first season of The Real Housewives of D.C. It's been an amazing experience in so many ways. The show was a great opportunity because although Washington, D.C. is the most powerful city in the world, it's not just known for politics. Washington, D.C. is also known for its philanthropic events combined with large social components. The show also focused on people from different backgrounds/experiences and their interactions with one another.
I am still amazed at the people who recognize us. We are so humbled by this and hope we've helped to show the positive qualities of the Washington, D.C. area.
In last week's episode and blog post, I briefly addressed the unfortunate incident between Lynda and Tareq. I wanted to wait until everyone (as in the cast and audience) saw the final cut of the reunion show before going into this mess.
As part of the promotional tour for the premiere of The Real Housewives of D.C. in late July 2010, the cast (women and for some strange reason Tareq) went to Los Angeles for a press junket. The press tour was over several days ending with a group dinner at Trader Vic's in Beverly Hills. As Lynda explained, towards the end of dinner Tareq was screaming and being verbally abusive to women. Lynda had asked Tareq settle down as they all have had an enjoyable evening, and it would be better for everyone to calm down. Tareq cursed at Lynda by saying "Shut the EFF up." Lynda replied in kind by saying, "You shut the EFF up," after which Tareq threw a glass of red wine in Lynda's face. Bear in mind that this exchange was witnessed by many people including press who were at an adjacent table. A few of the press members were also doused by the wine that had been thrown at Lynda.
I pause because I want you to picture this exchange and experience. Men, imagine if your girlfriend was cursed at by the same miscreant who then threw a glass of wine in her face! Regardless of the reason, that behavior is not acceptable. Even wild animals show more decency to one another. Many of you would have violently escalated your response to your woman being attacked. I would have acted similarly had I been there! Either way, it wouldn't have been a pretty picture.
On the reunion show, my comments were truncated as my anger was a lot more verbally manifested than was shown. Many would agree that I tend to be more reserved at times and the fact that I said, "I would have put him to sleep had I been there," only further expresses the rage I felt.
In NO way was it acceptable for Tareq to throw a glass of wine at Lynda, NO MATTER WHAT, and I'm shocked that no one else did anything! I hope someone did and it just wasn't mentioned. When Tareq kept replying "Michaele has MS" as his defense, I was DISGUSTED!
Unfortunately, Tareq violates the man rules. There was no other "man" present, hence his behavior. It's unfortunate!
You are a true gentleman and exhibit true class. To be honest, all of the DC "men" with the exception of Tareg were stunning exhibits of what a man should act like. I don't think anyone with common sense or decency once questioned just how full of crap the Salehis are and how people like that are just plain dangerous and exhausting to be around. All of your folks are simply too dignified to even be associated with those clowns. With that said, however, I can only imagine just how frustrating it has been this past year to constantly be thrown into their self-made drama and how you and LYnda have conducted yourselves shows what great people you are.
Enjoy the time off and thank you for being a role model to all men out there !!
You are THE MAN!!! Lynda is definitely one lucky woman to have you beside her. I can only imagine the pain you would have inflicted on Tareq if you were there when we had the gall to throw wine at a woman - what man does that? He is totally unacceptable and a disgrace to all the men out there! Wishing you good health and happiness!
I have no doubt that if the situation were reversed that Lynda would have been there for you. You are a lucky man to have found a woman that is so grounded and can share her life with you. I like Lynda found myself in love with a younger man with integrity, whom I admire as a person. Our third anniversary and the begining of a life ever after. Isn't life Grand!
I admire "all" of the men of DC with the exception of Taraq. You, Rich and Jason are all classy gentlemen. As is Paul and oh, I hope I'm not leaving anyone out. Please just continue to exude the grace and class that you have shown thus far and I'll never be dissappointed. The ladies of DC are lucky to have such charming and classy men in their lives.
You write so eloquently. I have really enjoyed watching this first season of the DC housewives. Wow! What a season! I too think that the Salahis are incredible storytellers and will do whatever it takes to spin a story, to have an outcome in their favor. Their actions speak volumes! They do talk in circles and will not directly answer any question. I can not imagine how frustrating that must have been for all of you! You and Lynda make a beautiful couple. I look forward to the next season. Thank you for your beautifully written blog!
There are only three DC husbands worthy of anyone's attention. Tareq is not one of them. Thank you, Ebong for setting everything straight for the viewers. You rock!
It's refreshing to finally watch emotionally healthy and self-confident people have relationships on a reality show. RHODC was a delight in that regard. I'm sure some people tuned in to watch the drama created by the dysfunctional couple but I kept watching in spite of them. Best wishes to you and Lynda. You two, obviously, have something profound between you.
You and lynda are my absolute favorite couple out of the entire housewife series! And the way you write makes me turned on!
It's a rarity that someone can be so eloquent in describing the atrocious behavior of the silly Salahi's. Linda is a very lucky woman to have you in her life. You both are very classy people. Wish the two of you much happiness.
I'm confused. The show is called "Real Housewives" so why was Mr. Salahi included on this press tour in the first place? Furthermore, if that "jackhole" was included, why weren't the other ladies' spouses/partners included as well? You definitely should have been there and now I completely understand why Lynda refused to have him on the set w/out you present. Was he just tagging along with his wife on this tour or was he part of the interviews?
I was surprised and enraged for what happend to Lynda with Tareq Salahi. This couple are delusional. They are living in a new world of their own and the worse is that they do not acknowledge that. I am sorry for Lynda. I hope to see you on the 2nd. season.
God Bless you and Lynda

Ebong; I bet you noticed the look on Tareq face when you said, "he'd be asleep" it was priceless. Tareq is a coward who picked on a woman, and he could never go toe to toe with you. Thanks for being one of the good guys!
I think you missed a really important fact. If you were at the dinner with Lynda, his fakeness would have never thrown the wine to begin with. He can't stand up to a real man and I doubt if he could stand up to a woman. Lynda is a lady but some day he will come up against someone like me who is not such a lady. Then he'll learn to respect both women and men.
Ebong.....since you're taken by the fabulous Ms. Lynda...where can we DC ladies find more men like you....tall, dark and handsome!!! I'm looking to get hooked up! I'm in the DMV area, so clue me in on where to find them...or just him (meaning one)....all I need is one good one. Thanks :-)
You have her back. GOOD FOR YOU!! And good for you for acting like a gentleman when face to face with those outrageous idiots. My husband, like you, would have called Tareq out. I would have been proud of him and I'm proud of you.
Ebong, Thank you for saying what many have been thinking "lights out". Any man who would use such vulgar words to a woman and in public only shows what a low class person he is. And then to throw a glass of wine on her that just shows he is a little mean boy. He needs to be taken to the woodshed and get a down and out good whoopin for his actions. I feel sorry for his mom who raised a little ignorant, hateful, arrogant, don't tell the truth, woman abuser idiot. I doubt if any buisness if they saw this show would have any relationship with the likes of him. And all the people who say poor Michaele, please give us a break, she has rolled right along with the little lying dirt bag
OMG.. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE on the show. I just wish you would have been in L.A. But the troll would not have done if you had been there you can see what a worm of a person he is.. His poor mother!
I agree with you 100% but you know, you can't try to make sense out of crazy. Those people are crazy and make me not even want to watch the show for all their insanity. The fact that the media even gives them air time is disturbing.
Lynda is so lucky to have a man like you! I wish you guys all the best. I think she is absolutely fantastic and it makes me really happy to know she has a good man in her corner. Good luck to you both, and I hope there is a second season so we can see more of you!!! (without those disgusting Salahis!)
