Fairy Tales Do Come True... It Can Happen To You!
Depicted by Michaele in her fictional fairy tale as the Wicked Stepmother of the bunch, I laughed when Michaele likened herself to Cinderella, and my beloved other housewives, the Ugly Stepsisters! That's hilarious! When Michaele was out to lunch with her assistant Jen and talking about Lolly, she said, "That's the power of Facebook, so be careful. If you are out there doing crazy things, it's going to come back." Yes, Michaele, you know that all too well!
Cat and The Republican Party
Well we all know where Cat stands when it comes to the Republican party in our country! I believe that Cat has made the exception when it comes to me, because when we talk politics, our positions are basically the same as to what we would like to see changed in America... health-care... education... and this is just the beginning. Being a Republican, I was feeling frustrated by my party's lack of leadership. When Presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain added Sarah Palin to the ticket, I praised him for thinking outside the box and choosing a woman, however, I didn't feel she was qualified to be Vice President let alone THE President if something should happen to him. Obama's platform of change and hope led me to vote for a Democratic president for the first time in my life.
I loved the scene with Cat and her children in her closet trying to find something inappropriate to wear to Edwina Rogers's fundraiser for health-care reform. The fact that she showed up as Sarah Palin made me LOL and wish that I had actually been there to have witnessed that moment! So, okay guys, has Cat earned her "get out of jail free" card yet, cause I know y'all have expressed some pretty strong opinions about my dear friend. As I said from the beginning, you'll either love her or hate her. So what's the consensus now?? I'd love to hear your comments on this.
lynda: You're our favorite but we think this is your best blog yet. You seem so comfortable even in the worst situations. It's hard to believe that Tareq gets so much air time since he's hardly a housewife and yet he seems to act like one. Ebong and the other house husbands seem to be civil enough. And thanks for the poem.
Well for what it's worth (and if it actually gets posted) I like Cat, would I want to go head to head with her? Depends on the day!! I think she's real, warts and all (and I'm figuratively referring to her being such a 'trollop') I am enjoying what is considered to be the most boring housewives venue. Personally, I think the original (OC) is last on the list now!! Lynda, so far you are doing the South proud!
Hi Lynda. Love the DC gals....well most. Michaele I could do without. As far as Cat, I truly think she has been rude. However, I am beginning to see she just calls it as she sees it and makes no excuses for it. I sure wish I was like that. I don't know what it was about this episode, but I really really like her. She definitely has a supporter in me.
Really enjoyed the show this week. I love Cat, liked her from the start, very funny, very interesting.
You are so together. And you represent southern women very well. The one thing I really like about this show is that there is no screaming. Everyone behaves properly, but we all know what is true and who is real, and you are definitely real.
been watching DC, it's growing on me, only because of you gals. being from Arkansas i agree, there is all kinda of racism. you asked, i like Cat. she expresses my feelings, say it to the face, not the back-side. good luck in your new home.
I adore you...love watching you and your family..and your man is gorgeous! Congrats on being such a great example...and I love Cat!
Hi Lynda,
First, I wanted to praise you on staying away from the drama. I can tell you are a very centered woman. Just a quick note though on something you said tonight. You mentioned that you were the victim of "reverse racism". I understood your point but just to clarify, there is no such thing as "reverse racism". Any kind of discrimination based on race is racism, it doesn't have to be against a darker skin color. It's all semantics, I know but I thought I'd share anyway. Thanks! You're great! PS-Love the house and understand why you wanted to move to the burbs to have some nice open space for your family to gather!
Lovely comments. I enjoy your interaction with your children. Seeing you in the kitchen frying up bacon and 'serving the menfolk first' certainly rang true with this Southerner. I have four children, four grandchildren and two great granddaughters. I try to have the clan, including 'significant others' for the single grandchildren, over once a month for dinner. Cramped, noisy, fun! We tell tall tales and laugh a LOT! I just love it! I'm 73, so it wears me out a little, but it is SO worth having them around. The son's request for his birthday supper August 6th was home-fried potatoes (18 russets), fried okra (4 lbs.), pinto beans (2 lbs. dried) barbecued baby back ribs (6 racks). A standard item on the table for him is Grandma's Molasses to go with the biscuits before dessert. He got it all and all 14 who shared the meal ate until they hurt, or so they said.
I wish you and the rest of the cast a successful run. Try to keep the animosity to a low level. This past year the ugliness on the New York and New Jersey shows was annoying! I wanted to take them aside and give them a little talk about manners, profanity and civility. Since when did the "f" word become an accepted form of speech among ladies? The usage shows a limited vocabulary since there are so many words that could be used in its stead.
Good luck and years (at least five) of happiness in your new home!
Lynda,
you rock - I love watching you on the show. After the crazy that Jersey housewives has been, I'm grateful to be able to watch someone I actually like. I hope you're loving your new house!
Lynda, I can appreciate everything you have said in your blog. I like Cat I think she is a hoot and when she showed up as Sarah Palin it was LOL funny to me. Contiune to be the down to earth person that you are and please continue to call it as you see it.
I really didn't like you in the begining but now I am starting to see M. true colors...I see what you mean...that constant smile and all those digs...pheewww...anyways, nice blog!
Lynda, you are awesome! I really enjoy seeing you and Ebong on the show, as well as your adorable pug Ichiban (I think that's the spelling?). You really seem to rise above all the drama.
I also love that even though I'm a Democrat and you're a Republican, you seem to be so open-minded and have friends of both parties. You are truly classy and I'm glad to see you have bonded with Stacie, Cat, and Mary. Thanks for clearing things up about the Lolly situation!
Lynda, You, Mary, Cat, and Stacie are my favorites on the DC(I watch all the House Wifes). I have no respect at all for, you guessed it the "Worst Couple" on the show. Well every show has at least one but yeah for DC you have two, LOL. I look forward to the show every week and hate for the season to end. The show is great and I look forward to the rest of the season and seasons to come. I also look forward to your new home. I can't wait to see how you decorate it. Good luck with the show. I will see you next week, LOL.
Sincere Fan, Shelia in Texas
I happen to like Cat and her dry sense of humour, Now I keep hearing hte other housewives state that she is to blunt for DC but is it really the city?????? I would rather deal with her sense of perspective becuase you know exactly where she is coming from----no walls and no bs. I know its very hard for other people to hear the truth upfront but I dont think she is nuts rather she gets to the point. If you can't handle it then get out of the way because she is definetly not running for homecoming queen and I dont think she wants to LOL anyhow she is keen on her impressions of the people she meets and is pretty much on mark maybe thats what disturbs them so much. Don't lose that sense of humour!!!!!
Linda, Bravo...and I admire that you always recuse yourself from attending any functions where the Salahi's maybe present. It doesn't make sense to go somewhere and be a hypocrite by pretending to enjoy the company of another, when it is not true.
I have always liked Cat and don't mind how she speaks her mind. I laughed though when she was having high tea with Edwina and Edwina was speechless when Cat was discussing healthcare and in her mind it should be a right and not a priviledge (which I wholeheartedly agree with!). She was damn funny showing up as Sarah Palin.
Both you and Cat keep it real and that is refreshing!
Linda you are the best. I love the fact that you stand by what your words. You do not like Michaele and her husband and you do not pretend to. I am not sure why they did what they did to Mary, it was pointless. I gain a new respect for Staci and her husband. They really supported Mary doing this most embarrassing situation.
I just love the poems that you find to include in your blogs. I read your blogs just for them. To your question about Cat, she is growing on me in a favorable way..
Lynda,
I was shocked to hear you say someone refused to serve you back in the day in South Georgia. Can you eloborate, and let us know which establishment was this because I don't believe you.
I absolutley love your idea of ending with a beautiful quote!!! You're amazing, keep doing what you do!
I think you are on of the more 'real' housewives and very smart! I would enjoy a conversation with you about politics. I do need to say that there is no such thing as reverse racism. Racism is racism whether it is done to black people, hispanic people, german people, jewish people or white people. To call it 'reverse racism' implies that racism only happens to black people and it is simply not true. I am a caucasian business woman and experienced racism myself in Atlanta! But, while disturbing, the experience does humble you and make you want to make the world a place for all of us to live together in peace!
Lynda, love reading your blog after each show. Thanks for taking the time to write it and share your life. Love watching your family and your relationship with Ebong. Thanks for getting past the negative racial influences of the deep south (I am a native Mississippian and African American myself) and forging what appears to be a very loving and supportive relationship with a handsome African man. You and your family are lovely and a breath of fresh air. I look forward to seeing more of you all and wish you life's very best.
LOVE you on the show Linda...I love a lady who isn't afraid to get her manicured nails dirty. You're the perfect mix of down home reality and up town class, and you and Ebong are a beautiful couple. The poem was beautiful also. Thank you for welcoming us into your life!
Linda, you are absolutely fabulous. I just love the relationship you have with with your kids, friendships and Ebong. You are a woman to look up to. You are classy and adorable but know how to express yourself with some fiestiness. Perfect combination. I am so glad you are on the show! BTW does Ebong hae a brother? haha
I've been a devoted "Real Housewives" fan for several years now and I always find that there is that one Housewife who, at first, appears to make quick judgments of the other Housewives, but who later is truly revealed to be just...I guess you could say...."real" (and "right"!!!!) In my opinion, you have captured that persona perfectly....and I love it! Thank you for your honesty in our (the viewers) journey towards understanding who the "Real Housewives of DC" really are!
And....your question about Cat....I would like to submit my vote for "Love Her!" Enough of the superficial courtesies! We need more people like her! Wouldn't it be great if everyone could be a little more honest like Cat.....maybe then there would be no more "back stabbing". Each person would know where they "stood" with others!
Looking forward to more!!!
Your comment at dinner about you having been discriminated against was because you are white was ridiculous. Why do people try to act as though they know the struggles of blacks, gays or any other minority?
Hi Linda, You are absolutely fabulous. I love the relationships you have with your children, friends and Ebong. You are a woman to look up to...Very classy and adorable but express your opinions with some feistiness. That is the perfect combination.I am so glad you are on the show! BTW does Ebong have a brother? haha
I am white, my husband of more than two decades is black. He never once experienced prejudice from my family, friends, or in any public place. I was ostracized by my black girlfriends (they told me I stole their man); I experienced bad attitudes from people in public places in our predominantly black community; and coldness from some members of his family.
No one needs to be surprised and certainly not offended to hear that a white person experiences prejudice from some blacks. In our experience, I took the full brunt of the ignorance; my husband, none.
I love both Lynda & Cat they are a breathe of fresh air. They actually say what they mean & mean what they say! Such an easy task one would think yet so many can't seem to accomplish either. I love that they are woman that have both career & family. They are not afraid to speak their minds & why not when one is as intelligent & confident as these two women are. they are great role models for people everywhere. Good luck in all your endeavors ladies. It is certain these two make RHDC worth watching!
YOUR HUSBAND & YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE,MICHAELE & TART SHOULD TAKE ALOTTTTT OF LESSON'S FROM YOU TWO.
The more Cat speaks the more I get upset. It must be true what they say that Europeans hate us. What kind of comment is that "I know your American but please have manners" Now she is putting down the health reform & education. Not to mention mocking our politicians. All I have to say to Cat is if you don't like it here go back to where you came from. If it is better over there stay there.
I love Ichiban! I loved the scene with you and your family touring the new home and love that you brought him with you as part of the family!
You're smart to stay away from events where Tareq will be present. That's an adult thing to do.
Love Cat, love the DC franchise.
Wow! The poem you posted was the exact thing I needed to hear this morning. Please know by sharing who you are and expressing yourself by posting something as simple as a poem is reminding others or at least me what is truly important! Faith! Thank You-

I wasn't sure about you at first, but you are quickly becoming my favorite.
