Lynda Erkiletian

Lynda talks about putting together the fashion show.

on Oct 5, 20100

I can’t believe we are nearing the end of Season 1! ONCE AGAIN my blog post is late… I apologize for the last several weeks of late posting, however, my blog is very personal and is not something I want to delegate to someone else. As I have explained earlier, the fall is truly my busiest season, so it is sometimes hard to make time to complete this to my satisfaction on time. Again, I thank you for your patience, in addition to all of your comments, love and support.  Please, continue to follow me on Twitter at THERealLyndaDC and check out my personal website at www.LyndaErkiletian.com.

Before I get into this week’s episode, I want to give a shout out to Half Yard Productions, the producers of The RHoDC. They have done an exceptional job showcasing the true essence of our nation’s capitol with its majestic monuments and memorials, cultural institutions, embassies and streetscapes. These city vistas are artfully filmed and sure to boost D.C. tourism! Bravo to the production crew! It makes me proud to call D.C. my home.

Fashion in the Nation’s Capitol
As I previously addressed in my blog post dated August 12th, "A Whole New World," “In addition to advertising agencies, department stores, and publications, our clientele also includes Embassies, which makes our agency unique in the industry.” Washington, D.C. is an international city rich in history, art, and culture –- and that includes fashion. This week, you got another look inside my professional life. As an agent, it is my job to provide a service for the client while representing the best interests of our models and stylists. Often times, that includes giving them advice and guidance to be the best they can be.

During the go-see for Burkina Faso, I call a male model out for not cutting his hair as I had previously instructed. His hair looked nothing like his composite card, which means that a client booking based on his pictures alone would be misled. This misrepresentation could result in a cancellation, which would be bad for the client, the model and especially the agency. I may appear critical at times, but I am very passionate about my job and there are many facets to what I do. Whether my talent needs to see a dermatologist or a dentist, hair stylist or nutritionist, I will advise them to consult the experts needed to improve their image.

Gracious Offerings from Burkina Faso
I am honored to have been invited to the Burkina Faso Ambassador’s residence to meet with the ambassador’s wife, Araba Yonli, and designer, Clara Lawson-Ames. I was already impressed by the creative direction undertaken by event planner, Nenye, to showcase Clara’s gorgeous collection and looked forward to learning more. After meeting them and hearing about the women of Burkina Faso who helped create the line, I wanted to support them by wearing one of the remarkable couture designs they had hand-stitched. As a petite woman, I present a challenge to any designer, but Clara was very patient and spent the night before the show helping me find the perfect dress. I felt like a princess going to a ball and I am forever grateful for her kindness and generosity, as well as for opening my eyes to a beautiful and culturally rich part of the world to which I had not previously been exposed.

Lynda, I love the rope chair you have in your apartment. Where did you get it? Please email or post information on it. Thanks!

Lynda, please tell me where you got that cool chair that looks like rope and knots but is in an almost half-egg shape that you were sitting in while talking into the camera several episodes before the last one. I want one for my home. Would LOVE to know.

Why did you not go to Stacie's when the Salahi's were there? You had the cast there to watch the hearings. You had alot to say while watching the tv, why not go and tell them what you had to say, face to face? I am sure everyone concerned would have felt better. Okay, maybe just you!

Why do you hate on the Salahis so much? Its a bit strange that you seem so taken with them, talking about them non stop. When I observed you with the others watching them on TV as they were at the hearing, you were practically drooling at the idea that they were going under. It was kind of creepy to see you so excited. Why....is there something we don't know?

I totally agree, I really like you Lynda but your way to hard on Michaele...remember she's only human. Give it a break.

I just don't get how anyone can enjoy other people's pain period. That really says something about who you are. You all need to rise above and either be there for the Salahi's or move on from them and leave them in the past. If someone is your enemy you walk away with your head held high and live your life, you don't have parties to watch their court trials. Is that all the joy your life has to offer? What a shame.

Lynda: from another southern ladybelle, you are one of the classiest women I have ever seen. You hold your head high and don't take no crap! I love your entering montague of "giving people enough rope to hang themselves." I love it! Love and light to you and those you love. Bye-bye darlin'

You appears to be very judgemental OF YOUR EX-FRIEND -Michaele. I like Lynda happy with her boyfriend or family. Cool it with the judgement of others.

Dear Lynda, When the first show aired you were not portrayed in a very good light. As the season progressed, people really saw the soft side to you. Your beautiful family. Your kind boyfriend. You're good people in my book. Btw, your blog photo doesn't do you justice. If your renewed for a 2nd season (without Mickaela I hope) change your blog photo. I live in wine country in northern California. The Oasis winery is a joke. It looks like a dive compared to our wineries. Sorry for the negativity, but I'm sure you can appreciate where I'm coming from. We all know, even you, the best wines of the USA, comes from California. Good luck to you and your dear family.

You wear what looks like a tiny diamond cross on your neck. I was just wondering if it is a cross. It's petite but definitely catches the eye. Love the show. Anxious to see next series.

Started watching very recently, but I just wanted to let you know that I think it is great that you got the issue of marriage equality - and your support - on national television. I am impressed that you took advantage of your publicity (on a silly, but entertaining show) to make a statement about an important civil rights issue.

Loved watching you work. U are a true lady. The fashion show was awesome. Lolly is an adult and it's time to drop all the crap that was said at the winery and let her defend herself if she runs into the plastics..

Hi Linda,

Just wondering what brand and style watch you were wearing in last week's episode? It was a silver toned tank watch worn with causal clothes....Thanks!

Linda, I have soo enjoyed watching you be the "voice of reason" on this season. You are a very eloquent, interesting, loving and centered woman. We could all take a lesson on proper manners in any situation from you! You are friends with most of the housewives but seem to still stay clear of all the drama and I respect that soo much! Some of the antics by the couple whose names do not need to be mentioned are absolutely ridiculous! Thank you for letting us have a look into a small part of your life and I hope to see another season of you and your family!

hey lynda. i just watched the video "baby boo's bday party" and am posing this question to you, mary, and cat. is paul like a pet to you girls? i am not trying to be unkind to him, but he has the maturity of a 12 year old. almost everytime i have seen him on the show, i have wondered why you are all so drawn to him. he acts like a child. i just wonder what it is that draws you all to him. in no way have i seen him act like or respond like an adult. i don't get it.

Lynda, I LOVE you!!! You remind me of my own mother; smart, beautiful, classy, caring, successful, kind and the list could go on!! She instilled in me my love of books, & I absolutely love the above poem "Beauty." It really is special to me as I knitted an afgan that had this poem on it for my sister after she announced to my family she was a lesbian. She had a hard time at first but after she realized my family & her friends loved her no matter what, she knows what a very beautiful, confident, chic, caring, loving, smart woman she is! She & her partner hope to marry soon, & my family (extended family also) will be there for both of them!! Stay yourself Lynda, keep surrounding yourself with the wonderful people you do, and continue to reach out to those in need!! The world could use more people like you!!!

I would like to commend you on your beliefs and your honesty. I would have protected my true friends, just as you did. (in reguard to sending pics to security for the fashion show) Also, I think your home in Virginia is beautiful, I can't wait to see how you redesign that georgeous home! I, like you, am a southern lady, transplanted to the north. I can identify with saying ya'll, and using your southern ediquette, and people being in disbelief. Keep being true to who you are!

Lynda - you are my favorite DC Housewife! Your ability to be a positive presence in any situation while at the same time, recognizing and calling out those that are full of it is truly a remarkable balance! I think there are many special people in this world but you are a true example of a women who is unique, interesting, an obviously devoted mother, an independent women, and a role model for all of us women trying to have it all. I look up to you and hope to see more of you next season!
