One thing that no one can ever take from you is your word. I was raised with the motto say what you mean and mean what you say. The reunion was extremely difficult for me. All of the nonsensical behavior that we have been subject to this season from Boris and Natasha came to a head that long September day. It was difficult to watch myself become so exacerbated by the lies and false accusations, and to see myself visibly display the emotions I was experiencing: anger, hurt, and frustration. Even when confronted with solid proof these people still arrogantly sat there denying all. It was unreal. After a season of fabulous fun with my family and friends it made me sick to see it all end this way.
As parents, one of the primary values we teach our children is the importance of being honest. As I sat on the sofa during 10 tedious hours of filming, listening to lie after lie coming from a couple who are masterful storytellers, I wondered how we got to this point. I have never in my life been put in such a confrontational and frustrating situation nor watched two grown adults be so blatantly dishonest. My family, close friends, and my charity have all been negatively affected by these individuals. At the end of the day I know what I signed up for, and in the reality TV world the name of the game is drama. What I was experiencing was not drama. This was about two delusional individuals who still can not answer a "yes" or "no" question. Ultimately for me they stooped to the lowest of lows by falsely accusing our daughter of a serious crime that she had no involvement in whatsoever. I can easily say that I am relieved that we can all move on from spending precious time and energy talking about these people. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'm ready to move on!
Wish bravo would bring back this series of housewives! Exspecially now even more so around election time. Mary you were great!
I so admire you and RIch for being so composed and admirable while the two CRAZIES continued to tell lies about you child to your face!! They totally frustrated me, so I can only imagine how frustrated you, Lynda, Cat and Stacie must have been. Thank goodness Michaele and Tareq don't have children. What is fiasco that would have been!
I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to showcase your charity work. I think Andy Cohen and Bravo could have reigned in the crazy. You appeared to be doubled over and babbling trying to make them tell a straight story. They don't know how. I feel sorry for them at this point, but at least they have been exposed. You and Rich were among the most adorable "Real Housewife" couples. (Stacie and Jason are my other favorites).
I have embraced the new Housewives of DC, and I think you all are my new favs. Mary, you remind me so very much of a dear friend I lost many years ago. I'll be waiting for Season 2!!!
hey mary, reading your blog I just about bust a gut laughing, you refered to "you know who" as boris and natasha. I hope you all decide to film a 2nd season, but please, please do not invite michaele and tareq, they lied to you all, even lied to bravo to get on the show. and dear mary, you are not the only one with a lock on thier closet, my therapist told me to put a lock on my closet too.
I just have this yukky feeling that the RHODC will not be coming back. If that is the case please let me say I have enjoyed you, your family and most of the others of the cast!!
Mary, Thoroughly enjoyed you this yr. Especially your facial expressions. You are a very caring person and that was evident. Hopefully there will be a 2nd season without Boris and Natasha. They add nothing and too much time was spent on them esp. at the 2nd reunion show. It was important to ask the questions but once the ferris wheel started going around Andy should have moved on quickly. The rest of you are so much more interesting why give them any time?? All the best to you andyour darling family.
So well said, Mary. As usual, you showed grace and poise under the weight of the amount of b.s. being handed out by Mr. and Mrs. Nut Job. Hope to see you all (except the Salahi's) next season.
Thanks Mary for being so down to earth and real. I enjoyed watching you so very much. I hope you all will be back for season 2.......minus Boris and Natasha.
Thank you Mary for providing information on your charity; I live in the MD/DC area and was not familiar with it. Your upcoming event sounds great and what a worthy cause. All the best
Mary, what I like best about you - more so than any other housewives on any of the shows, is the fact that you are constantly referencing what it's like viewing yourself & what you learn & what you need to change. I would think that would be the number one reason to do a reality show (of course not all think like I do) it's refreshing to see someon who sees this benefit.
On another note, how can one find out more about Lolly's artwork? Does she not have a website?
I really hope that when you return next year it will be w/o Tarek & Michaela. I couldn't watch them again & do not get why Bravo insists on putting others in the line of fire from their ilk....a la Danielle Staub....horrible to do that to the rest of you.
PLEASE 4- GIVE ME!! I made a comment on the very 1-st show( about best friends), and now I regret it, I commend you for being one of the 3, YES 3 most "REAL" (as Cat would call it) of all the housewives(also sitting on the same couch together,in case anyone is confused about which 3 housewives I am writing about ) on BRAVO!!U R Awesome, you kept your composure and "gasped" every time I did and all 8 of my friends for the RHODC REUNION SHOW!! If there is one thing we all agree on( other than NEVER to go on a reality show and ,this will NEVER make it to your blog!lol:) is "why did Andy allow "THE ANOMALY" (or is it anomalis lol:)to ALSO "highjack" the reunion show after, they clearly" highjacked" the reality show?( RATINGS?) It also seemed to all of us that every question that Andy asked, always ended up going back to the "Salahi's or should we now call them "The AnomaliS"??, oh that would'nt be a word or would it??)I hope to see you next year along with all the other" REAL HODC"!!!!
Although you and Cat were my favs from this segment of the RH dynasty, I wonder if you still stand by your comment that you don't have a history of talking bad about people, in light of the fact that you did, in fact, speak gossip and badmouth the madam and her husband. I totally get it, that this was after they defamed your daughter's character, but still, it was shocking that the honesty and integrity you seemed to have had, was tossed aside. You still rock, and I am really sad that your family was unsubstantiately dragged through the mud. Since you are from DC, mudslinging must be common place, but I think that was over-the-line for them to do. Blessings to you and your family
I think Reunion 2 says it all. At that time you portrayed the RHODC filming as putting your whole family at risk, and that the Salahis highjacked the show. Mary, you appear to be a bright woman, so let's be frank: you knew what you were getting yourself into when you signed on for the show. Don't blog now saying it was such a blast, because it comes off as disingenuous.
Hey Mary - You are THE girl . . . Loved watching you, your family and your life on the show this season. Your sense of humor and the way you live your life - reminds me of myself. You know what it's all about and please - lets not talk about those nasty people anymore. They don't deserve the notoriety or watching all of us react to such disgusting behavior. They are dumb . . . I'm happy to move on from all of that. Keep it up - you're doing it all right. Good Luck.
You are a sweet kind and caring mother, friend and wife but I was disappointed towards the end of the sesason. Maybe it was the exposure ot lynda and cat but it just seems like a harder side to your personality was revealed and it wasn't becoming. I have a feeling that isn't the real you and you are that soft, sweet, fun person I sized you up to be.Perhaps reevaluate your friendships and see who is good for you and who brings toxicity to the table. I wish you luck and keep on smiling...you have a lovely spirit!
If I were you I wouldn't do this show again, man did it breed hostility and hate. So negative and so much drama. I blame Lynda for most of it, since she is kind of the mother hen, a lot of her negativity seemed to rub off on you and Cat. I know you are a good hearted person who has a gentle soul, it is not like you to be mean and hateful. Just seems like you have nothing to gain by being on this show, you have an awesome family and am sure lots of great positive true friends. This show kind of gave me the creeps towards the end. Just bad karma all the way around. Good luck.
Mary, You are filled with grace, style and class. I am so excited that you will have your own website soon and that you are designing crosses!! I really hope there will be a season 2. Good luck with all your endeavors! You seem like a remarkable woman!
Wonderful, that's what you are. I love the way you handle yourself, always taking the high road. Oh, and your clothes=divine.
You and Stacy came off as the most intact, sweetest and most fulfilled. I really enjoyed watching you two at the reunion show, but did not like the attitude you both displayed at the reunion, and have a feeling it was just Lyndas super negative energy you were feeding off. I have a feeling it was not easy to escape it. I am wondering if there is another show, would you do it again? It seems to be really hard to have your life under a magnifying glass and even the most innocent thing can get lost in translation. I hope you will carefully choose your friends. I got such negative, toxic vibes (literaly) from Lynda and Cat that I hope you will think twice before befriending them, they just seem so miserable that they don't have anyones best interest at heart. You have a darling family and I wish you well!
Well Mary while you don't care I am going to tell you what I think. When you were making fun of Michaele for being a Trish McEvoy makeup artist...how elitest of you..SNOBBY MUCH? That IS NONSENSE!
I don't care much about what charity you do or how attractive you "think" you are or your daughter, or Ted Gibson, or your CLOSET! What I think MATTERS is the way you carried yourself at the Reunion. How you can think you are any BETTER than anyone else is beyond me but you definitely give off the impression you do.
Actions speak louder than words. Frankly you all were a bore, brought tears to my eyes and I will be THRILLED if YOU ALL become OBSOLETE. Waste of space you all are. CHEERS!
Off topic, but I just saw an ivillage article with a tour of your home. It is beautiful! I love your style: classic, traditional, and luxurious. You have done a wonderful job of decorating your home with enduring styles and neutral colors. If you are ever looking for a house-sitter, I am your girl! :)
