Rodolfo's Not Good Enough for Karent

Ana thinks it was ultimately beneficial that Karent heard about the Rodolfo article.

Bimini Trip Part 1

Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes in the middle of nowhere you find yourself. -Author unknown

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ah, the infamous “cast trip.” We have seen every city embark on one. Housewives have traveled far and wide from Kenya to Ojai all seeking the same thing: healing. After enduring months of filming, a little healing trip is just what the doctor ordered. But is true healing possible? Can we really heal the wounds that we either deliberately or negligently inflicted upon each other throughout the course of this season? Call me cynical, call me jaded, but I was not optimistic. I’m not sure there are enough Band-Aids in the western hemisphere to stop the bleeding of our gaping wounds, but (for the most part), we tried.

Bimini is an idyllic setting. It’s so close to home and yet seems thousands of miles away. What a shame that the weather did not cooperate. Elsa’s prediction was eerily accurate.

We boarded the plane with high spirits, good energy, and a lot of Adriana’s luggage. I was grateful that we did not need the flare guns or the flotation devices that Marysol kept demanding.

The houses were just beautiful and our rooming arrangements predictably safe. Perhaps mixing it up a bit would have aided in the “healing” process but considering our history as a group, playing it safe was a good idea. A girls trip is always fun and this was no exception. I love spending time with Alexia and Marysol, and once Adriana arrived -- it was a full house.I was surprised to hear Alexia telling Lea that she had something to discuss with her. I would have expected her to share that with me first since it dealt with something I had been accused of early in the season. The first time I heard of it was when she told all of us while we were getting ready in the bathroom.

To find out that Rodolfo was carrying on with another woman in Mexico did not come as a shock to me. I had used air quotes all season when referring to their “relationship” because the whole thing seemed like a farce. I always assumed that they had agreed to feign a relationship because it would make good TV. After seeing Karent’s reaction, I believe I may have been wrong about her participation in the charade or perhaps she agreed to it in the hopes that he would fall in love with her. It seems that Karent is/was in love with Rodolfo, and while the information was harsh to deliver and process, I believe it ultimately contributed to her decision to end the relationship. I am happy for her. Rodolfo is not good enough for any woman and he’s received more airtime than he deserves. When Alexia disclosed that Rodolfo’s new love interest was a 24 year old named “Ana” I felt some vindication. After all, I had been accused of texting someone when I didn't, and mockingly described as an “older woman” all in the first episode! Needless to say, compared to a 24 year old, we are all a bunch of hags. To say there was a bit of poetic justice in this new development, is quite the understatement. To relish in it at someone else’s expense is not my style, and as you can see by my facial expressions and reactions, there was nothing about that confrontation that I enjoyed. I won’t waste valuable blog space to Karent’s reaction to this information, as it was consistent with all of her previous reactions. Makes you wonder if a river cruise through Egypt would have been a more appropriate cast trip.

How much healing will take place on this trip remains to be seen. Tune in next week for Part 2 of the Bimini trip.
In the meantime, here’s a recipe for Bahamian Conch Fritters that you will love!

Peanut or canola oil for frying

2/3 cup all-purpose flour

1 large egg, beaten

1/3 cup whole milk

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper or more to taste

1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

¾ cup fresh conch meat

3 cloves of garlic, finely minced

¼ cup of sweet onion (like Vidalia), finely chopped

1/4 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped

1 large celery stalk, finely chopped

Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Sauce for dipping:
Combine the following ingredients in a small bowl and set aside until ready to serve with the freshly fried fritters.

1/4 cup of mayo
2 tablespoons of chili sauce
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

Heat oil in a large pot, deep fryer, or deep skillet over medium to medium high heat. About 360 degrees.
Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl (flour and spices) add the milk and beaten egg and stir until just combined. Do not over mix! Add the conch meat and vegetables and combine gently.

Using a tablespoon drop the batter gently into the hot oil and fry, turning once until light golden brown. Drain well on paper towel.

Serve immediately with sauce for dipping.

Buen Provecho and thanks for watching!

Until next time,

Lea's Double Standards

Adriana explains why she was so surprised by Joanna and Lea's behavior.

I would like to start by saying that I tried my best to bond with Joanna and remain friendly after attending her bachorelette party and wedding. I truly was hoping for a budding friendship. All season long, she criticized me in her weekly blogs, criticized my wedding, and even then I took the high road and didn't engage in the low blows and continued hostility she has demonstrated towards me for a while now. However, I couldn’t stay quiet any longer when she started to attack my credibility. Enough is enough! I've learned that bullies like her will not stop the attack until you stand your ground. She showed me her true colors when she stated she wanted “to rip my head off.” Such aggressive behavior like that could no longer be ignored. Joanna is always stating that she is beautiful and because of that she thinks she has license to act UGLY!

Furthermore, I couldn't remain silent while she was attacking Lisa and being so cold to her and her struggle with infertility. Claiming that Lisa is a party girl and is always drinking is not the attitude of a friend. Joanna and Lisa had been friends and even had dinner together the night before and all was well between them, until Joanna decided to turn on Lisa... I was shocked, how can a friend blatantly attack her friend with such coldness?! She should not talk about things she knows nothing about!

Another shocker was to see Lea sitting there silently and not coming to Lisa's defense... She crucified me this season and did a complete character assassination of my person for not speaking up when Ana attacked her last year, so I was very surprised to see her do the exact same thing to her new bestie... Double standards, as usual!

In conclusion, don't judge others unless you have walked a mile in their shoes!
