So everyone wants me to rip on Jersey a bit more. Truthfully, it speaks for itself. How can I beat up on Teresa and Jacqueline? They are simple girls who don't seem like they could defend themselves. As far as the stage mom thing, I was half wrong. I'm sure Teresa created this precocious, pretty little girl with a set of luggage to rival that of J. Lo, but Gia seemed to be quite the little actress on her own. That scene where she carried her luggage, sorted through her jeans, answered her cell phone and said that everyone wants her now confirmed for me that she was an actress in the making. The gossip girl call was more exciting to me then Teresa who left the decision up to Gia. Feeling better about this plotline.
I'm happy that Jacqueline's eggs seem ready to roll, and rumor has it that she currently is pregnant. Cute husband and thank God we saw that he exists. That scene hit home for me since this chicken has no clue about her eggs. Aside from the fertility conversation, Jacqueline's story is underwhelming. She should thank her lucky stars for the Danielle controversy because it is what keeps her relevant and interesting. Neither she nor Teresa on their own are riveting whatsoever. The people around them keep them alive.
Everyone still loves Caroline, but I'd love to see a bit more about her other than the lion protecting her cubs. I thought there was no reason for her to be so upset at the dancing scene. Danielle is nuts and she took her dance lesson seriously. The rest of the cast obviously went for the show or to act interested or for a good group activity. I would take a free lesson with a professional seriously too (minus the leotard and tap shoes) not to mention that she can dance. We will later find out how and where she honed her dancing skills.
Bettheny, You're right on point with your assessment of last night's episode. I thought it was only me but to be honest I'm bored. Like you said, the only thing the show has going for it so far is Danielle's drama. The other wives don't seem to have much going on other than talking about Danielle. I'm trying to hang in there but I'm losing interest fast..
B, Once again, you nailed it. My question is who pays cash for furniture, moving, etc.? Something's fishy there.
Bethenny, you are hysterical. That comment about Joe the ignorant dude putting a hit on you made me spit my coffee out! Loves you girl!
Cattiness? That's like the tiger calling the kittens ...cats. You haven't even retracted your claws from your own Housewives season 2. You are the epitome of cattiness in all its purrfect glory. You, my feline friend, can claw with the best of them. You were sooooo catty this season, and I for one, was glad Alex called you out on it on the reunion show. So before you get too catty by call the NJ housewives catty, look in a mirror....or better yet catch the RHONYC on Bravo and see yourself in action.
Bethenny you crack me up! You hit the nail on the head girl. P.S. I am with you on the Hot-lanta crew. They were all a hot mess. Too fun to watch! Danielle reminds me of Kelly. Needs the drama and approval a little too much. Danielle has more brains though. At least her arguments make sense! She'll be aw'right. There's a good egg in there.
You and Jill are my favorite out of all the Housewives. They could do a show about the two of you and it would be a hit! The comment about the sleazy troll boyfriend is dead on and gave me a good laugh!
Some interesting points, but why did you have to call Teresa and Jacqueline "simple"? Sort of patronizing, don't you think?
Sometimes I wonder if you play up the "I'll say what I want and own it" thing, but I'm still a fan. It just makes me cringe a bit when you overdo the devil-may-care attitude. I wonder if you'd rather judge people than get to know them because it's safer emotionally...but, to borrow your phrase: What do I know?!
I am sure that Joe did not mean the gay comments. He appeared to be going out on a limb and far beyond his comfort zone by taking this class. When the teacher corrected him and then Danielle made her snarly comment he reacted out of embarassment. It is not like he was screaming obscenities and threatening to kill him.
Bethenny - You are unbelievable! I lost so much admiration for you this past season because of your own cattiness and how nasty you were to Ramona on the reunion show. Loved when Alex called you on your crap too! Why are you so mean? To call Theresa and Jacqueline simple is just so low. I, for one, love them! They are "real housewives"...you know, like the title of the show?? Sorry that they don't have book deals and a sharp tongue like you. They actually have husbands, children, beautiful homes, and they are nice to boot! Didn't love the gay comments, butTheresa's husband is adorable. And, you know what, have a child first before you start judging the parenting thing. You have no clue.
Bethenney, I happen to enjoy the episodes of the NJ Housewives. The show (including your's) is always slow to start because we're just getting to know the women and their "drama". As for Danielle, if she were "real", wouldn't she have fessed up about her past to her close friend Jacqueline, who she says is like a sister? The fact is, and as you have often said, when you sign up to do reality, everything is fair game - including your past. I think you're being a little hard on this group when the show has only begun. As for husbands, if the NJ husbands are anything like Mario - keep them off the show. He's a huge distraction and a drama queen! Personally, I don't care how the husbands play into the show. It's called Housewives - as you pointed out on the reunion show.
You are right. I've said before that this show is lackluster and could do perfectly fine with just Danielle and Dina and we could eventually see some interaction between the two since it's obvious that the only source of actual entertainment is the apparent drama between them. The show is already 4 episodes in so I think we can all agree that the character development has reached its zenith and we have come to know as much about these individual women as we will be allowed. All we seem to get is a lot of intermittent reminders that Dina is an interior decorator, that Jacqueline wants to get pregnant(and apparently that has worked out in her favour - happy about that), and that the other 2 mothers/wives are happy just being that. Even Dina's relevance on the show rests on the scandals surrounding Danielle. This is by the far the most humdrum and vacuous ensemble since the real housewives series began.
You know this cattiness is bit strange, because the four of these women have no other outside interests. I mean, the NYC folks had occupations and such, even aspirations for themselves. Cattiness is inevitable to a degree, but what's with the attitudes when everyone seems to be in the same got-nothing-to-do-all-day-but-talk-about-people-and-make-myself-look-better boat? Seriously, the only class I've seen taken was dance -- anything else going on? A charitable organization was mentioned, but not much. Just she said/and she said again! That's it. Oh yeah... let's not forget breasts. Very important. LOL!! The show is strange, but I suppose it's a different flavor that Bravo wants. Unfortunately, just another ridiculous stereotype of New Jersey and its occupants.
I like this show much more than the others. They are true "housewives". No one is cattier or meaner than the ladies in NYC, and it hurts to watch them. So nice to see women with real home issues, even if their homes are so much lovelier than I will ever see!
i like that you're defending danielle to an extent. i really don't think she's malicious like the other women make her out to be.
Bethenny, You nailed it to a T! I love you and Jill and cannot stand Kelly! You need to keep that cow in her place! Kelly needs a good head shrinker or something. She acts like she is Marilyn Monroe or something!! Can't wait till next season. Stay sweet and true! Love Ya Biatch, Mark
Last time I checked, EVERY housewife show has been incredibly catty! Look back on your season, and the NY Reunion...it was all about cattiness. I understand you're trying to be funny, but you don't have to say that Jacqueline and Teresa can't defend themselves...I thought that was a bit unnecessary. And I really don't think Teresa's husband meant all of his comments to be taken offensively. Love your humor, but you don't need to rip apart the show and all of the housewives!!
Please say there is a NYC Housewives Season three! You gals are my favorite thus far! So real, genuine, and amazing..sans Kelly..
I respect you 100% more than ever after hearing your opinion on danielle. It's nice to see someone has a lite heart when it comes down to people's past! It speaks volumes about you! :)
I thought your blog post about these New Jersey housewives was spot on. Good for you for giving Danielle the benefit of the doubt, but I think Bravo really missed the mark by picking three women from the same family. Diversity is really what makes this series interesting and the NYC housewives is head and shoulders above these boring NJ gals.
You are always 100% on the mark. BTW Jill and Andy Cohen added me as Facebook friends...but i haven't heard back from you
Bethenny-I always enjoy watching and reading your comments re the New Jersey cast, and agree w/many of your insights. But when "reality" show members say things that may be perceived by others as negative (such as Joe's gay comment), it seems to me that such comments should either be taken as a reflection of who they "really" are (and it's possible that he was just expressing how he really feels) or that they were taken out of context or exaggerated/blown out of proportion. For example, have any angry veterans complained about all the times you've compared your dealings w/Kelly to "having flashbacks of Vietnam"?
Bettheny, We're on the same page. I'm so proud of you Bettheny! NJ Housewives come on! Take some advice from some "REAL"housewives of NYC. There's no gay bashing on that show. Mario
Hooray. (DId I just say Hooray!!!)
I am so glad that someone out there can actually sum this up as eloquently as you did. All I have to say is.... I agree. :)
Love your viewpoint Bethanny! Hilarious. I have to disagree with you about Jaqueline and Teresa though, I love those two! I do agree with you about Danielle - what the heck happened between her and Dina that Dina hates her so much? I hope that we can get some answers!
bethenney-loved the pics of you and constantine today! go see ROA- your inner rollergirl will love it! love you[and jillZARIN]! ...still hate tamra[sorry!]
Good for you for saying it like it is. I think you pretty much hit it all in your blog. And all I can think is I sure hope no one ever digs up the things I did when I was a young adult!
Bethenny, I agree with all of your blog post. But you have to admit in every Housewives show there was at least a moment of boring and not boring. I've loved every season, and as time goes on it gets better and better.
Regardless of whether I agree with your opinion or what you say, I just like the way you say it!
I'm the same way, total ballbuster with men. And with my female friends? Don't ask me my opinion or you'll get it. I'm not the girlfriend you come to when you want something candy coated.
You're my new Carrie Bradshaw!
Ok Bethenny, Give it a rest. you are one of my fav NYC housewives. But you havent been making a lot of sense.
I'm beginning to think you are just trying to keep up with your smart-ass one-liner image, OR that Bravo is asking to write ridiculous things in order to boost ratings for this show.
Teresa's husband is a typical guy. I am not a fan of when people use the word "gay" to describe things, but come on he was not gay bashing.
And Teresa can stick up for herself just as much as you or any of the wives have.
Uh, "Viewer", Bethenny didn't say that Tamra and Gretchen's feud was interesting! She said those two girls, as well as Kim and NeNe, were all "entertaining in and of themselves." That statement means - now read slowly - that those girls were entertaining to watch in clips of them alone! Kim drinking wine out of a wine glass in her convertible in the parking lot - hilarious! Who does that? Ramona from NY - dancing in the lawn by herself, Vicki from OC - doing everything she does, and so on. The NJ ladies don't entertain us as much as we're following their story-lines.
I agree 100%. If the rest of the season is centered around bashing Danielle for the whole hour, I'm out.
I totally agree with everything you said. It's funny because while I was watching the show last night, I was thinking everything you wrote. The cattiness has to stop! It's cattiness overload. The thing that I don't understand is that if everyone "Hates Danielle", then why invite her to everything? Sometimes I think these women like to have her around just to talk about her. If this cattiness doesn't stop - I don't know if I can bear to watch! And by the way, I don't agree with the comment that you were catty in season 2. There's a difference between cattiness and being honest and direct. These women have a comment about every little minutia. So what if Danielle was serious about her dancing. Who cares? Maybe she felt like “learning” something new…. Ahh…there’s an idea….
My thoughts exactly. Seems like Teresa is desperate to be liked by the Manzo family. Watching them all gang up on Danielle was gross. Danielle does have 2 lovely daughters and deserves credit for that. Watching these ignorant people prance around their marble "palaces" isn't worth the time.
Bethanny, I'm happy for your success from the show, but lets keep it real. You aren't the person who should be giving advise regarding marriage, and kids. As a fan of your show I was so disappointed in this last season. The Kelly scenes made you look like a jealous school girl. I have to say that the Jersey Girls are Fabulous!
Thanks Bethenny for calling out Teresa's moron husband for the gay comments. Totally unacceptable and he should be ashamed, but I doubt that will ever happen.
I'm hoping that the IRS is watching the show and making sure that A Hole is paying his taxes.
Love Caroline, Dina , Jacqueline and Theresa. Jacqueline, listen to your family so you would not be hurt by an outsider in the long run. There is always truth in a scandalous book like that.
While I think you are great on your show, I have to say NJ seems to be my favorite so far. I don't know why you keep insisting Dina's husband needs to be on the show.If he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to.Didn't you have Jason on the show and looked how that turned out.And all the rest of the husbands on your show need to step back and realize it's about their wives, not them.As for Teresa and Jacqueline, so what they are not fighters or drama queens, but I do enjoy them.I mean the whole thing with you and Kelly got very old very quick and I find it a little "high school" for two "adults" to be fighing over nonsense. It seems all the woman on your show love to fight and cause drama and its just so childish.
B- Who are you to give any kind of relationship or parenting advice. Your not a wife or a mother. your selfish and you overrate yourself!!
Oh Bettheny, I like all the Housewives series, however calling other women on "their" cattiness is making you look like a hypocrite! After watching the reunion show, my head was spinning from all the yelling! I think you have a little hard time when the other series are on. Step back and let these women and the audience enjoy their air time!
Bethenny, I agree. I was really uncomfortable watching the Danielle-bashing scenes. I mean maybe she did do those things but it was her ex husband who wrote the book so I think everything should be taken with a grain of salt. I looked it up online and I found its really had to get a copy. So at what length did these women go to in order to obtain the book? They are pretty mean and I really don't care to watch high school girls go at it anymore. I hope Bravo actually posts this comment!!
I think the all the housewives shows are fun to watch. Tell me why did Bravo pick you to be on The Real Housewives of New York? You are not married and you are not an ex-housewife. You do not have any children...I am not being mean, but the show is about the Real live of rich housewifes! I do not understand why you are on the show, unless you are making money promoting your business on a reality show...I am a 40 year old single woman with a great man I share my life with....Do not worry about finding a man...He will find you. Life is good regardless of your single or married status...Life is what you make it..On that note, I do not think you should be on the New York housewife show, since you are not a housewife or ex-housewife.
