Shaking Things Up

It's a Housewife first! Caroline explains why the Jersey girls are shaking things up at Bravo.

May 12, 2009

Hmmm, I have to admit, when I saw myself on the show, even I was afraid of me! The truth of the matter is, I am the marshmallow that I am shaped like. (I think my camera was broken, it was stuck on wide angle constantly...LOL.) As far as the kids go, NO, I do not put Lauren's shoes on for her, NO, I am not the witch of Albie's girlfriends present, and as far as Christopher and his career choices, you will just have to watch and see - he may surprise you! I will admit that I am one of those moms who does a lot for her children, but I can't help it. I have so little time left before they leave home and are out on their own. Letting them go is proving to be one of my biggest challenges in life, and bittersweet for sure.

Hmmm, I have to admit, when I saw myself on the show, even I was afraid of me!

Teresa, oh Teresa, what can I say? Love, Love, Love...Mwah, Mwah, Mwah! The one thing you can always count on when Theresa is around is laughter. She is absolutely hilarious! Her girls are absolutely adorable and as girly girl as you can possibly get. Theresa is crazy in love with her husband and is very dedicated to her girls. I am so happy to see Teresa and Joe finally move into their dream home.

As far as Dina and Lexi go, watching them together is like watching any typical mother/daughter relationship in any city, in any state in this country. Lexi is 13 going on 40. Her sense of humor is very dry, and not many people get it, but such is life. I think it would be great if Jill asked Dina to be her doubles partner in the next Ramona/Mario match. That would be the match of the century! LOL!

I tend to avoid the blogging world- but I absolutely love your personality. The day I have my family I would only hope to run my household as you do. I love how you are the Godfather{mother} ;) of the group! If in Jersey the men are or look like your sons; I think its time I leave Staten Island and find me some Jersey Boys...

1st I think your beutiful from what ive seen so far inside and out. Im a mother of 5 ,5 and under its hard and i think you do a great job of keeping things together. I love that your so close to your family I hope my kids turn out to be so close too. Angel

I am so excited for this season to begin. I am a religious watcher of the show, and I am looking forward to see what is to come. Your son Albie is adorable! I think I am the same age as him, and I also come from a close Italian family haha! :)

Caroline, you don't owe anyone an explanation about how you feel about your kid's. That's how we feel about our kids we never want them to leave the nest lol until we see their rooms. You are very close to your family and that's very rare in these days and times, don't change your family values.

Honestly, I thought you came off great and totally normal! Being protective of your family is your job - being a mom to your kids is also your job. Maybe it's because I'm a Jersey Girl, but honestly, I see nothing to criticize.

Teresa and her girls are adorable, and Dina and Lexi totally normal, and God Bless Jacqueline - teen girls are tough! Looking forward to more of your family.

I really admire how close your family is. I grew up in about the same size family as yours, so I know how important it is to protect one another and always be there for them. I'm only 21 years old, but I would love to have a family like that someday or become a part of one. It's very inspiring to see families out there that are still going strong when tradition and family values are not so prominent in the world today.

Also, Albie is so handsome. Tell him I said so :)

I love The Real House Wives of New Jersey!!!! I am an Italian mother of 3 boys, I grew up in South Philadelphia and now live in Boca Raton, Fl. It was a treat to watch "REAL" women, should I say more??? This is going to be an exciting season, can't wait!!!

Hey Caroline I just drop by to say that you and sister Dina are so far my best housewives favorites. And if this is better then the housewives of NYC then I am ready to see everything lol. I have to admit you're right about being street wise then book wise. Books can take so far but being street wise can lead to the promise land. I have to admit when taken care of your family I would do teh same thing if I had a son by the way your oldest son is HOT lol anyhow I can't wait until I iwsh the shows was running non stop

caroline i know you are coming from. I would do anything for my kids and grandchildren. when i grew up our family was together, we could have a fight but dont let any body outside mess with one of us. I am irish. nice talking to you.

So far, there are only 2 things I have to say about you...the 1st is that it seems that you are who you are...there is no wondering what you are about...and that is an incredible quality in a person. The 2nd is I'm glad to see that family is #1...ALWAYS! Being a fellow NJ'n I 100% agree! You always need to stand behind your family...even if they are wrong, family is family!! I can't wait to see more!

you scare me- You all scare me...Threats and intimidation... You all realize that this is being watched on TV all across America??? The way Bravo is marketing this makes you all seem like your MOB members???

I hope we see more of you as a MOM...I already like that about you. Plus- I like your style-hair and clothes...

You so far dont come across as a wealthly "spoiled" brat. I like the fact that you see it takes hard work to get what you have. I certainly hope that you do some charity work with all that you have.

Your my favorite...but i am scared

Caroline, two words: YOU RULE!!!

I think you will be my favorite of all the housewives (although I also immediately liked Dina, Teresa and Jacqueline, too!) because you have it all going on: funny, happy, smart, a cool mom, strong, loyal and fiercely protective... the ultimate woman!

Last but not least, you are totally cute and so NOT a marshmallow! I think you look super fine... like a real freakin' woman, and a HOT one at that. I would be proud to have your body. Hello! We don't need any more anorexic chicks parading around on television.

I'm definitely liking the New Jersey housewives best of all. It's obvious you guys are being yourselves rather than trying to portray someone you're not (Danielle excluded), and bonus... super entertaining. Thanks for the laughs so far!!!

you're my favorite caroline! you make me wish i were one of your jersey little sisters! muwah!

i can already tell you are my favorite. work those curves girl!

Caroline, I love you already and I've only watched the first show! I appreciate that you hold on to tradition and old world values with your family. I come from an Italian family myself so I can relate. By the way, does your son Albie have a girlfriend? If not, he should definitely have a spin off dating show on Bravo!

You are by far my favorite!! Im from jersey not to far away and you are my mother to a T.

I thought I had the only insane Italian family but I guess we're all the same! haha

I absolutely adore you! I wish I had a big sister like you and lucky enough to have a strong and loving family like you. Good luck!

Love you guys because your real, fabulous and italian! The best Real Housewives yet! Oh and Danielle is so desperate! LOL!

Caroline, you are an amazing role model. You have a great family and I wish my large family were more like yours I am also the youngest like Dina and would love a big sis like you. You didn't come off as scary to me, but as a woman who takes care of those she loves. I have grown up with an Italian side of our family (by marriage) so I guess I understand the dynamics. I got a real kick out of the mother approved strip club don't we wish they were all that way! lol You are amazing and don't ever let the haters and their comments get you down, there is always someone out there who would love to do that. Stay positive and God Bless!

Dear Caroline,

I wasn't sure about this show, & to be frank I'm still not.

However your first sentence in your blog, I found to have humility & humor. Which I find endearing.

I also am at that stage in life where my kids are leaving the nest(I have four kids, one in college & two more leaving for college this fall) so I know of which you speak,& bittersweet is the perfect word to describe it.

Some thoughts on girlfriends (three out my four kids are boys) I have told my children what to look for in a "good partner" & I have told them how to be a "good partner". Which I consider just as important. I expect to be asked for my blessing when they get married & then no more. For in the end you have to trust your parenting ability & have faith in your children as people to make correct choices, & if they make mistakes then they as adults need to handle it.

I wish you well on your new venture with the show & both of us much joy as we see the payoff of our hard work in raising our children & personally moving into a different part of are lives. Hopefully one in which we do a little less for others & a bit more for ourselves. LOL!

caroline it looks like you have your hands full with such a large and together italian family..... im looking forward to the housewives of NJ .....

Hey Caroline,

I know you project a tough jersey girl persona, that you're hard and will cut someone who messes with you. I think all this may be true, however, I see you have a heart of gold. You can tell you're an amazing mother. You really esteem your kids the way the best of mothers should. I really liked how you said your about Christopher that he is in the school of life as opposed to saying he didn't go to college. It's nice to see someone who underneath it all, is really a protective yet nurturing mother. You really seem to be a wonderful woman and my favorite of the show. More reality shows need people like you.

caroline

I admire your parenting it was so good to see a parent with old school values for a change. But really your not Mrs Corleone here, it was like seeing an apisode of the real life Godfather family only a bad version of it. Lets get real here, i my self believe strongly on family values and my children (3) do come first to me as well but i dont go around acting like I am the Like Mrs Corleone. No your not that scary my mother was more scary than you. Actually my MOther in law, Maron she is scary.

It is very hard to let go, I dont know how i will ever let my children go even though i know i have to. I still got long way to go I have a 13yr, 2yr and a 4month old but still dreating the moment becuase before you know it in a blink of an eye, its here. take care and keep those family values in check, they will appreciated when they become parents.

I wish you were my big sister... I love you so far...

Caroline LOVE LOVE LOVE all of you. As a Jersey girl (fort lee high school graduate of 1981) and a Bergen County girl at that - I felt like I was watching old friends from high school. You guys are real, upfront, say what you have to say and are loyal to your family. I am greek and grew up in a greek/italian/jewish/irish neighborhood, so I felt like I knew every one of you. I was very excited that words or phrases I have said to my "ny artsy" friends for years were now on national tv (shkeeve, douche). love it! I know the Brownstone and glad everyone is now getting to see it. I know that you guys have done alot of good work for the community/fundraisers from the Brownstone - thank you for that. peace and gratitude Alexis

You seem like a nice person, you mean well but you all seem like such caracatures. Jersey wives by way of Sopranos casting...it will make for an interesting show, that's for sure.

I like you, Caroline. It is so refreshing to watch a woman be totally devoted to the family and the home the way you are. In this society, materialistic items are of more importance than having a close knit family. In your case, you put family first.

Best wishes

Hey caroline!

Love Love Love, Jersey housewifes! You guys are awsome. You are a wonderful mom and you children are very lucky to have you. I am the same way with my son. Can't help it! It was love at first site! People who arnt italian don't understand it a "Mamma" thing!...LOL!

Can't wait to see what happens this season!

You are, by far, my favorite on this show. Your love of family is what I grew up with. Bravo to you for saying what you think and not making excuses for it.

i think that you stick up for your family and thats great.

There's nothing wrong with a Mama helping her son get ready for a nice party nor shower them with love and attention. I have two boys and a girl and my boys seem to need me more than she does and they're younger! I wish I had a big family around me because that's what it's all about. Let your kids know that you'll always be there for them no matter what!

I think you came off great. !!!!! Loved you..... Also I think your comment about Dina playing with Ramona is wonderful.....

I think you might have let the cat out of the bag??? So Jacqueline is pregnant?

I think you're a wonderful, caring, supportive mom. You already my favorite, right along with Jacqueline! Can't wait for the rest of the season to air!

I love your take on Danielle - LOL!!!

love your family! you seem really close which is so important. watching your family made me miss mine:)

Caroline, I think you are AWESOME. In the Preview episode I knew you would be one of my favorites. How Dina's husband isn't on the show? Anyway I look forward to the rest of the season.

You are terrific. I enjoyed watching you on the show last nite. I am an Italian NJ mom of two teenagers. I see exactly where you are coming from. Keep it real. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I love you already ! Strong woman who adores her family. I'll keep watching.

oh my gosh i just watch the show i fell in love with you! you are by far the bestest wife ever on all the shows.

i can;t wait to see more!

I want you to adopt me!!! You and your family seem so fun!!

I agree with all, you are awesome! Why couldn't I have had you for a sister!

Greetings, Caroline!

I knew right off the bat, while vieweing the preview's of your show, that I would be able to relate to you, of all the New Jersey Housewives. Your "Old-School" approach to raising your children and being the doting wife to your husband. Family comes first, career second. That's is my approach in life as a wife & mother of four daughter's. I admire your devotion and love for your family. If I ever had a sister, I would look after her just the way you do your baby sister, Dina! :) My daughter's and myself stayed up until midnight (EST) watching the premier of your show and already we are addicted! All of you are Sophisticated, Classy, Family Oriented and Fun-Loving. Just what we viewers enjoy!

LOVE YOU!!! I love how you're so supportive of your children and what their future plans are. Not many mom's would be so proud of their son's aspiring dream to own a car wash/strip club (brilliant by the way)!! This season is going to be AMAZING :)

I love you, I think you are the first "real housewife" that they've ever had on this show. I think people are forgetting the definition of a housewife-a woman who does not go out to work but stays at home to manage a household. :)

Caroline, I can't tell you how excited I am to watch you this season!! "Throwback" is an understatement! You are the quintessential Italian mama...I love it!

I want to be just like you when I grow up!

Hello there. This installment is by far my favorite. You NJ ladies seem the "realist". I love your attitude and look forward to seeing you this season. You rock. And you look great too. Love that black and white wrap dress, you looked fab in it.

I think you are a fabulous wife and mother!! I just went to an event at the Brownstone and let me just say- Although I'm generally not a fan of Pasta, but your Penne Vodka was really quite delish!!

You do represent the oldest well, however, you should. Somebody has to maintain the guidance and set the example and BOTTOM line when the others are too nieve are scared to do so. You are traditional but I wouldn't use the word throwback..hint..stop calling yourself that, but thats what the family needs to keep everybody above waters. I related instantly when I saw how you watch out for Dina, I am the same with my baby sister..even when they start thier own battles:)) God bless ya.
