A Fresh Start

Teresa responds to recent bankruptcy rumors and sets the record straight for inquiring fans.

Jul 27, 2010

But it's not a fun or an easy process. If you've ever been unfortunate enough to be involved in a legal situation, you know it's a lot of back and forth between both sides. Right now, our bankruptcy trustee is trying to get an auction going, and our lawyer is objecting it. Every day, there are new tactics used, stories circulated, and details "leaked" to the press, but it's all part of the legal wrangling. All I can do is rise above it, keep my head high, and know that at the end of the day, I have my family, my health, and I'm in God's hands. Nothing else matters, certainly not a lamp.

As for the story that I wanted money to appear at a charity event, completely false. I have never charged to appear at a charity event, nor do I accept anything for helping charities. And I help as many charities as I possibly can. I'm actively involved in Project Ladybug, but also Pancreatic Cancer, Autism, AID FOR AIDS International, the Red Cross, and Clean the World. I'm giving up Labor Day weekend with my kids to appear in My Big Gay Italian Wedding for charity for four days in a row. And I'm so honored and happy to do it.

I've never heard of the shelter that's complaining about me, but they called the person who books me in clubs and he told them he doesn't do charity, and to contact me directly. It's very easy to get a hold of me at my website, and I do check every email. I can't help every single charity that asks of course, but I do as I many as I can. I have no idea why this charity would try and bash me in the press, unless they were looking for press, which they obviously got. I did notice that Danielle was in attendance at this particular event…. Coincidence? Hmmm….

So let's talk about this week's episode. I actually really liked it. It was a nice change from the constant drama to just get a peek into everyone's life. I can't believe I've been married for 10 (well 10 and half years now) to Joe. We had a great anniversary.

You also got to see how we hang around and play games with our kids. Weren't they so cute playing Monopoly? And Milania had to be the shoe. Of course!

I also really liked seeing Christine's Sweet 16 Party. She is a beautiful girl, but you can tell she's counting down the days until she can leave that house. Poor Jillian has a little longer to wait. We finally got to meet their dad, and I think it's obvious where they got their good looks from! Jillian singing was so sweet, but it nearly broke my heart that Danielle was pushing her so hard. Of course, Danielle turned everything back around to her. Typical. I thought it was creepy that she would wear her engagement ring just to make a statement to her ex-husband's new wife. Sad.

Thank you for finally addressing all the redic rumors! Your fans know not to listen but at least now the rest of the world will too.

I think you are an amazing mother and wife and good luck with everything!

You are a classy lady Teresa! No need to explain your business, but I understand why you did. Watching your family makes me laugh and you and Joe are so cute together. REALLY looking forward to the follow-up cookbook - I've already made all the ones in the current book and they are Fabulicious!!! Keep on and stay strong!

I just wanted to tell you that I love watching you and your family every week!! Keep your head up and continue to ignore the haters!! I am praying that all of the money issues go away soon!! Keep being the fabulous women that you have always been!! :)

Ps Bravo please post this!! I don't understand why you don't post everything everyone writes except the ones with dirty words in it!!

You're terrific and don't feel that you have to explain your financial situation to everyone...we just enjoy watching you and your wonderful family on tv..don't change.

do like nemo and just keep swimmin' just keep swimmin'!!!

Teresa, I love watching the RHONJ. Your family is beautiful. I love how Joe gave you your anniversary present in the chocolate cake and it had icing on it. It was adorable! I really hope your attorney can get your belongings off of that auction. I looked at it today. It lists everything in your house- even some of the furniture from the girls' rooms. Good luck with it all. You are wonderful and so fun to watch!

You owe no one an explanation about what goes on in your privte life!!!People seem to thrive on gossip and are so judgemental.... Continued success to you and your lovely family....love love love ya!!!

I am sorry for your problems. Just ignore the haters. you are a great mom and wife and person. You and joe are hard workers and things will turn around for you.My prayers are with you. Just keep being so nice.

you're amazing woman teresa. i wish i grow up to be a strong beautiful woman and mother like you amore.

xxx

Teresa, Thank You for being so honest with your fans! Keep your head held high! I wish you and your family only the best!

Our family is in the construction business and has been hit hard by the downturn of the economy. As you said, as long as you have your family and health you will be okay. My prayers are with you and your family and hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Teresa, you are normally one of my favorite hw's but your statement about not allow gossip to bother you really gets me to wondering if you really did sit out there on that chair to confront D just to start someting with her and if you dont allow it to bother you why when she said that your house is in foresclosure did you get set off?? i think you as well as D tend to stir up the pot and then run away...

Teresa, You can always make me laugh with the things you say! Loved the monopoly scene-especially when Joe said the game board was torn! Your kids are FABULOUS, too! I don't think you need to justify or clarify the private aspects of your financial situation, but I understand why you are doing it. Love, love, love you! Happy Anniversary to you and Juicy Joe!

Hi Honey! I have to tell you I have now cooked just about every recipe in Skinny Italian, and they are all fabulous! I am a very experienced, skilled cook, but these recipes are very quick (good for work nights)and easy - and they always turn out perfectly.

I love to see you and Joe together - it is so clear how much love you have for each other! Joe's poem was so sweet.

I am sorry to here about your financial problems - we should all think, "there but for the grace of God go I." One layoff, one illness, and POOF! a lifetime of work can be lost. I don't understand why the trustee is auctioning off your beds and stuff - you are supposed to be able to keep things like that that you need to live! Stay strong, and ignore the haters - they are just jealous. They think life is a zero sum game, and that if you "have" that keeps them from "getting". Not true!

Great blog. It is refreshing to see you discuss all the tabloid/blogs topics. Granted, Some of the things I haven't heard of, but they did make me laugh.

You go Teresa!!! Screw what the haters say! Rise above!

Love ya lots!

i love love love u! i just "liked" u on fb and i was so upset to see what all those hateful ppl had to say about u. i think its just aweful whats going on and i hope ur house isnt in forclosure. no one should have to go thru that. ppl need to stop being HATERs and support one another. Yes everyone is suffering in this economy so i hope things work out for u and ur husband joe. i love love love u both and especially the kids:)

Teresa,

Keep your head up. We just built a new home and my heart breaks thinking of you and your family having to possibly give up your home and/or auction off your possessions. No matter how catty and vile people can be, I feel that in these times, most of us are just a paycut or a layoff from being in a similar boat. Decent people are rooting for you and your family, especially if it means more game time with your girls and less screen time for Danielle and her geriatric friends!

Good for you!! Rising above and overcoming adversary is an excellent example! I love love love you.

Love, Love, Love you and Joe and the relationship you share not only with each other, but also you beautiful little girls. Life is full of hurdles, and each time you hit one and fall, you get right back up and show them you will win. With all your friends and supporters there is no doubt in my mind you will be fine. As long as you have your family and friends you are blessed.

im team teresa all the way. you go girl! and i like the way you always keep your head high no madder what. :)

Teresa, Teresa.... It's gotta be so tough to deal with your Personal financial issues in front of the World, but when you signed on with BRAVO it becomes fodder for all when you, or ANYONE affiliated with the show makes a misstep. I just hope that your adorable daughters realize that money, (and material goods), do not make the person, it's their character that matters. What's the worst thing for me to think about when reading of all your Family is now going through is how it gives Danielle, (the woman who couldn't BUY character or class),some credibility in the lunatic rantings she was making on the show about your finances. UGH! You just have to hold your heads high and concentrate on the four most important PEOPLE in your world, not your "possessions", and someday all of this will be a bad memory. You've had your 15 minutes of fame,(and then some), but you've had to pay a VERY dear price for it, I don't envy you the road you're on now...

Teresa, I just wanted to say way to keep a positive attitude and to reiterate what is important, as you said it isn't a lamp. I went through something similar with my family and it was hard and embarrassing and I didn't have to live it in the public eye so I wanted to send you some positive energy in what must be a difficult time.

Good point on Danielle wearing her engagement ring... I thought I was the only one that thought that was done with obvious intentions other than wanting to just wear it as a ring.

Hi T.,

I gotta say you are My Fave housewive of NJ...Love you so much. I love how bold you can be! Anyways, i just came across an article on the internet regarding the auction you'll be having on Aug. 22. and read a couple of details regarding your bankruptcy. I was appalled considering last night's episode where Joe gave you that HUGE diamond. I was wondering if you already filed bankruptcy isnt it a little hypocritical to be spending so much money on diamonds??? Am not sure if this is true or not, and I hope it isnt, because it makes you seem a little tacky.

Love you!

Teresa good luck to you.. I think you are a very strong women to keep you head up while going threw this time, Everyone likes to have nice things but as long as you don't allow those nice things make you who you are, you will be fine.

Love Love Love you Teresa!!!! I love how you keep it real! You and your fam should have your own show....I'm sick of the "D" drama!!! You are what reality TV should be about, not all this made up fake drama.

Could you please address the ring you recieved at your anniversary? I noticed you made no mention of it. thank you

Enjoy the new apartment over the pizzeria.

Great blog! Love you on the show!

TERESA,

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOU ON THE SHOW! I NOW GOT MY BF HOOKED ON WATCHING, ALTHOUGH, I'LL ADMIT IT'S A LITTLE ANNOYING TRYING TO CATCH HIM UP ON EVERYTHING THAT'S BEEN GOIN ON.LOL. AFTER WATCHING A FEW EPISODES, HE SAYS I'M TOTALLY LIKE YOU HAHAHA...THE HANDS IN THE AIR WHILE TALKIN, THE LOVE OF COOKING, EVEN THE FACT THAT MY LIL GIRL IS A TOTAL DIVA...I DON'T RAISE TOMBOYS EITHER. LOL. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO! I LOVE WATCHING YOU WITH YOUR FAMILY! I LOVE THAT YOU CAN KICK ASS BUT LOOK FANTABULOUS WHILE YOU DO IT :0)

Congratulations on yours and Joe's 10th Anniversay - in this day and age - it's not easy to stay married for 10 years and you guys are hanging in there - better or worse - richer or poorer - good for you!!!

Enjoyed watching you this week - my best to you and your family and will continue to keep yours in my prayers...

Ciao' Bella

Hi Teresa, So glad you spoke about the issues you are facing and all of the press it is getting. Just so you know, I do think "fugazi" in italian means "fake" and thought it was so thoughtful of Joe to make an attempt to give you a "symbol" of his love for you. You seem to have the strength it will take to work through the tough times and the more important things you own are the love of your husband and children. Stay strong, tough and chin up...the only way out of all of this is working forward and ignoring your cynics. Oh, and by the way, the more positive you stay, the better following you will have....don't let Danielle or anything she says about you pull you to her level. It is so obvious she now has a new PR team working to clean her up and it is time...if for nothing else, her children. You have so much going for you instead of against you as long as you stay focused. Remember, even "the Donald" bounced back more times than one. Just "pay attention" to what is really important in your real personal life. Always remember "pride goeth before the fall". Stay strong.

Thank you for clearing up the rumors! Keep your head up and keep taking care of your fabulous family! Remember, God doesn't give you anything you can't handle...You and Joe will be just fine! xoxoxo

I just have to say Teresa I am a single mom of 4 teenagers and I know how hard it is to have to file bankruptcy and start all over I have recently finidshed that ordeal in my life and I do feel as if I have a fresh start again to do it right this time for me and my kids. I love watching you every Monday and your a splash of fun every week keep up being true to and your family love ya

Hi Teresa!! It took a lot of courage to blog about your financial situation. I know, Ive been in the same boat, but worse. I basically have had to start over again at the age of 48 and in 3 weeks I will be graduating from college. Just hoping now that there is a job out there for me. I just know that no one knows how scary it is to have to "restructure" your life. But you have a wonderful family that has their arms around you. Don't let anyone steal your joy - because you have beautiful daughters, a wonderful husband, and a big heart!! Keep smiling!! All my best - Patty P.S. I love your one liners! U crack me up!!!

you do a wonderful job with your family! love watching you guys! love ya

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you, Teresa! You have a beautiful family and YOU are an awesome mom!!! Hold your head up high, girl! You are so right. As long as you have those beautiful girls, "Juicy" Joe and your health, what more can you ask for!

Theresa, you have a wonderful husband, and four absolutely beautiful children. I know what it's like to go through what you're going through financially. It's hell. Work to make memories with your husband and children that don't revovle around spending large amounts of money. Anyone can buy a good time. The memories that will last, and will keep you strong as a family through this difficult time are the genuine day-to-day memories that you make just spending time together. I hope that you stay strong, and know that your true fans are rooting for you! God Bless...

Teresa, I think you are great! Joe and the girls make an ideal family. I know you will be OK with your current situation. You and Joe are smart, hard working people who will do just fine. Times are tough and so are you! Pay no attention to the "haters", we all know how they are. I wish you all the luck in the world. You are, indeed, a NICE LADY!!!

Teresa i think you are a great mom and i wish you and your family the best of luck.

I love you and the other girls (except D) and I wish all of you the best. My husband has also had to reinvent himself and things will get better with the help of God. Keep your spirits up and I hope there is a season 3!

Teresa I love watching you on the show. I think your husband seems like a down to earth guy and can see how much he loves you. You both are so cute together. Keep your head up and don't worry things always have a way of working out. You have a gorgeous family and no amount of money could ever replace that. God Bless! Carla

You are right to ignore the gossips and haters. This is the time for you to circle your wagons and protect your family. Thank you for being brave enough to share what you are going through. This cannot be easy.

Hi Teresa, I want to say that you and your family are lovely. I love the necklace you wear, it looks like a rosary, is it one of a kind or could I ever find one? I am looking forward to trying your recipes, I just got your book. More people should be as dedicated to their children and husbands and realize what a waste of energy it is to be negative about people they dont even know. Gotta make dinner but just wanted to tell you that! take care.

i freaken luv you and your husband! I think you to are awesome together.

Teresa

I too had to go thru bankruptcy after my husband died and I was left with bills I did not know how to start paying.

It has been hard and I never tried to hide the fact from my family and friends. It was a way out and like you said a fresh new start.

Teresa you are the best! xoxo

Teresa,

I admire how you live your life in front of the camera, yet make no excuses. In my opinion (whatever that's worth), you are who you are & that is fabulous! I think you're doing a great job as a wife, mother, and friend!

The economy sucks, I'm glad you're being so open. It just shows no one is immune. It makes you even more real than I already knew you were!

Keep up the fab, love!

Jess
