Cooking from the Heart

Kathy talks about her all-time favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.

Jun 6, 2011

It's that time again. It's great to be back. I hope everyone had a wonderful week!

I would like to start this week by thanking all of the incredible viewers for inviting us into your homes each week.

I especially want to thank everyone who has been so very kind and supportive towards me and my family on this blog and other social networking sites. Your wonderful and encouraging comments have meant so much to us.

OK, OK everyone I get it. I know I'm supposed to talk about the episode when I blog. Last Monday I was coming off of a very long weekend, and I was feeling great and looking forward to the summer, so try to understand why I just wanted to enjoy the positive place I was in.

I also know this isn't an advice column, and no, I don't think I'm Caroline, nor do I care to be. Caroline is doing a great job on her own. She certainly doesn't need any assistance from me.

That being said, I will talk briefly about last week's episode, because I have received so many comments in regards to it.

all of you want theresa and joe to make up.....but you also continue to stir the pot....

OMG, those desserts looked wonderful! When you had The Gorga's over the meal looked fab also!! You should open a cafe or bakery.

I love you and your family Kathy.

I hope you release a cookbook, Kathy. Your food looks AMAZING!

Kathy, I love to bake especially around the holiday's. Why don't you write a book on Making Italian deserts. I would buy the book and I am sure others will too.

I can't wait for your Italian Desert cookbook to come out! Get those recipes out and go for it!!!

Dear Kathy,

I think you are marvelous and you do not need Caroline's approval. I love your husband and two kids, you seem like a genuine family. Stay positive and don't let the other wives influence who you are. I LOVED your desert table, it was awesome!

Kathy, I know Rich is not a housewife, but he is my absolutely favorite house husband from all the different shows! He reminds me of a Lebanese Jeff Goldblum....he is hillarious! I just hope this show doesn't change you or your family....anyhoo, glad you are on the show!

We need a cook book from you, including the FABULOUS pastries during Thanksgiving!

Hi Kathy, Just wanted to say that I think you have no reason to apologize and that if anything Teresa should apologize for her outburst. I do think you could have possibly chosen a better time to confront her because you know she is a hot head and has trouble controlling her temper. I think it's really nice that you did try to initiate a mature and calm conversation. I think Caroline is just defensive and on guard for any bull$7it because of everything the drama that happened with Danielle so don't take it too personal.

You can come to my house and bring dessert for Thanksgiving anytime. It looked delicious!

Kathy--all I can say is "PLEASE make an Italian Dessert Cookbook". Your dessert table looked amazing. I love cooking italian food for my family but I have yet to master the dessert. Just a suggestion--which I hope you will consider!!

Your dessert table was incredible! Magnificent! If only we could taste what you made! When does your dessert cookbook come out? Soon, I hope! :) I loved it when you burned those muffins, I know it's super frustrating, but it IS good to see that like the rest of us, you're not perfect. But the end product - that dessert table - was truly a thing of beauty!

Kathy--all I can say is "PLEASE come out with an Italian Dessert Cookbook".. your dessert table looked amazing, and I could see the love you put into it. I love to cook real homemade Italian dinners for my family but I have yet to master the desserts. Just a suggestion, which I hope you will consider.

OH YOUR DESERTS WERE TO DIE FOR PROPS TO YOU YOU HAVE A TALENT

Thank you, Kathy. I enjoyed reading your blog this week!

Your desserts were amazing. I wish I could have been there to taste all of your hard work. You might want to consider writing a dessert cookbook, I would certainly buy it! I enjoyed seeing all of your family together sharing a holiday meal together. I love family time, especially around the holidays. This is what the show should be about, not all the drama created by others. May God bless you all and I pray that you all find peace and a way back together.

wow..you/re deserts looked amazing...i wanted to grab one right off the table..

Kathy, Your desserts look fabulous and so, so pretty. I think you do try too hard to be accepted by Melissa and her sisters. I think also that you have been manipulated by her to abandon your blood relatives. It appears that Melissa is having a change of heart towards Teresa, brought on by bad reactions of fans. You will get caught in the down draft. Beware and stay out the the melee, can't you see Melissa fires up Joey and stands back as he becomes agitated with Teresa. Stay out of it Other than that you seem to be okay. I didn't care for you at first but you are growing on me. Take care.

Kathy, just wanted to say that your dessert table looked amazing!! And very delicious. Good job....

Wow Kat you put my baking to shame! I'm the dessert chef in the family. You should think about opening your own bakery. You can bake it all. I believe the way treats are presented is half the battle. You knocked it out of the park. Not only did the desserts look mouthwatering. The way they were presented made them look like art. Good job. I'd say it looked like the Gorgas had a great Thanksgiving party.

Love you, and your family.

Hello Kathy, I really enjoy watching you and your family. Have a great summer!!!!

BTW, Were 100% from Italy. During thanksgiving. Ma makes the homemade lazana homemade pasta and all. My pop cooks the bird. Everyone pitches in. Our Italian men like to cook. The women clean the mess while the men watch football.

You still are not addressing why you and your husband consistently bash Teresa.

Oh Kathy,

Bless your heart. So cute to hear you say that you love Thanksgiving because everyone in America loves it. Um, maybe you should just double check that with the folks living on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Or the Hopi, Ak-Chin, Yavasuapi Reservations et al, etc....... Um maybe they aren't loving Thanksgiving so much. But picking out a turkey to slaughter and baking a bunch of yummies sure looks like a great time!!

Oh never mind, I really shouldn't have thought you would understand anyway.

Still can't admit that you made a mistake approaching Teresa at the fashion show? You spoke to Melissa & Joey in the privacy of your home, spoke to Caroline in the privacy of her home but you can't give Teresa the courtesy of speaking to her in private. You must not like Teresa much and it shows because all you and Melissa do is trash her. Leave her alone already.

Kathy, your dessert spread looked absolutely amazing! Would you mind sharing your recipes, especially for the tiramisu?

I think you're a nice, down-to-earth addition to the show, and hopefully you'll stay well above the drama/fray.

Your desserts looked amazing! You said that you love to bake, I think a dessert cook-book is in the making.

Ummmmmm...what was with your husband's mask and whip on the bull? Just a little creepy.

Kathy You say you dont want to appear as a troublemaker to Caroline but you are and everyone sees it. At the christening you could have helped your cousin Joe to keep the peace for the sake of the children which as you say is so important to you. Joe is the one who behaved badly not Therea all she did was walk over to say congrats and Joe is the won with the temper problem thats his problem not Theresa if he cant control himself then thats what medication is for. You are fueling the fire and shame on you and Melissa for trash talking Theresa at kim's store. What a pathetic display that was. I think you and Melissa are jealous of Theresa for her sucesss and if shes smart she'll stay away from both of you!!!! The two of you dont belong on the show but your trying to compete with Theresa and we all see it.

I don't think you did anything wrong when you spoke to Teresa, She is the one that needs to apolgize to you.

You are a good person, stay that way.

I really like you, however, I don't think you treat Teresa fairly. Teresa's sister-in-law is messy and so are her sisters. You need to encourage your cousin Joe to really reach out to Teresa and he and you need to show mor rspect for his parent's.

Kathy -- it's too bad that everyone in this show wants to be "right". You say you didn't owe Caroline an apology but wanted to just clear the air and make sure your good reputation remained intact. While it doesn't look like you did anything really wrong, it was definitely a bad time to bring it up. If you've ever watched any of the previous episodes you would have known that Teresa does not like to be confronted or questioned about her behavior. You could have apologized to Caroline for your bad timing. At least owning up to bringing this up in a public forum (so what you brought her to another room .. people and cameras are there) might have made a more positive impact on Caroline. Hopefully you will remember this in the future ... of course, then this would actually be a pretty boring Housewives show if these things didn't happen ....

Loved seeing all of your desserts! They all looked too beautiful to eat! You are very talented and I'm glad you have found your passion. You seem like a very classy lady and mother. Keep it up!

I think you are great!!!! You try not to get sucked up in the drama and you act very maturely. You're a great asset to the show!!!!!

Kathy I loved you on this episode. It's nice to see you in your home cooking with your family around you. Sometimes there is too much nasty drama on these shows. It's nice to see the simpler side of life. I can't wait for your website, I hope you share your recipes. God Bless you and your beautiful family!

I love Teresa, Joe and the girls.

Siblings are no matter how close seem to have "moments of conflict." Teresa and Joe may have worked things out sooner had people stayed out of their business. If you expect your son's and daughter's relationship not to change or grow over the years (and have good and bad times) you are kidding yourself. Point blank Caroline doesn't want any of you to air your dirty laundry at the Brownstone and involve non-family members. I have to admit your husband is a bit creepy. Between Melissa's husband Joe and yours I don't know who has the worst mouth.

kathy such beautiful desserts. of course we can expect a dessert cookbook soon. everyone is doing it, so jump on the train. i think you really try hard to please bravo, but i think you also care. just always assume Teresa is at fault. REALLY NOW! you should have known that the moment you even hinted that Tre left her children unattended you were going to get the "click" (see the clip of Melissa looking for her children and saying "i dont know where my kids are')

I couldn't believe all the pastry you baked. The table looked gorgeous!!!!

You have the most gorgeous eyes EVER! Love you and you wonderful family. God bless.

I can't believe how much baking you did! Wow! That is a lot of work, sis! Your husband seems great. I feel the same way you do thinking about my kids feuding. It would break my heart.

You're the bomb. I love your husbands sense of humor and his enthusiasm for you! Your kids are also great and I love the friendship they seem to have (it was funny to hear them predicting the competition between their future kids). They seem to have inherited their parent's senses of humor and easy going spirit!!! Best of luck to you. You all seem to be filled with positive energy and I hope the series brings nothing but positive energy your way!!!

I'm finding we have a lot in common. I loved your eye for details. Anyone could tgo to a bakery and buy desserts... I love cooking, baking and decorating. I want it to be perfect. Why is there something wrong with that??? LOL Loved the show... look forward to getting to know you more. So far, I really really like you. I'm a huge fan of Teresa's... so here's hoping you guys can put the past behind you and become close once more!

Kathy

Your desserts looked INCREDIBLE! Very nicely done!

As you said in the show - you usually don't spend Thanksgiving with Melissa & Joey". So wake up and smell the coffee - Melissa is just using you to make Teresa mad. Melissa and Joey are so immature I'm not sure how you can stand to be around them. Who rides a mechanical bull like that in front of kids. Really - you should have followed your instincts and not gotten on. I would like to say your desserts looked sooooo good. If you were on better terms with Teresa, it would be nice for you to showcase a couple of your desserts in one of her cookbooks. Which I own both and use often - I love them.

Nice blog...I get the impression you are going to copy Teresa and write a book..your excuse will be, "its a dessert book"

i don't know why you are even on this show , except to be melissas' sidekick in trying to make teresas' life harder.

Your a very sweet lady and your family is very close and loving. I almost started cryng when you were talking about your children at dinner. Caroline and yourself have the same family values. Love and happiness
