Season 3
Season 2
Season 1
Hello, everyone! Did you miss us? Well, we’re back in a big, happy, gay way!
I’m going to start by telling you a little back-story. When my kids were small and they would often ask me, “Mommy, what does gay mean,” I would tell them “gay means happy.” In my determination never to lie to them, it was my way to give them a truthful answer that they would be satisfied with in their age-appropriate understanding. It also served another purpose. Instead of having to get into a difficult conversation that they wouldn’t even understand, I started a positive word association for them early on.
As they got older, we would have discussions and we would answer any questions in the best way we knew how. Through our discussions Rich and I thought surely they would eventually ask us about Aunt Rosie. But the question never came. I know what you’re all thinking, “How could that be?” I have to be honest and tell you why I was relieved it had not come up before. For years Rosie and I had our ups and downs, not unlike many siblings. Growing up I always felt that I was different than Rosie. We liked completely different things, but we always seemed to have fun. However, as we got older our differences would sometimes feel like a big wedge between us. Rosie would go from being so completely happy to other times when I would see such sadness and pain in her eyes. Sometimes she would even be so down and upset that we didn’t spend much time together at all. I always wished she would just say the words so the wedge would be gone and we could be as close as sisters are meant to be. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I had invited her to a party and she said she wouldn’t come. I was infuriated. Why was Rosie doing this? Why does she want to be so distant? I demanded an answer. Then it came, fast and furious. Rosie yelled at me, “I don’t want to come. I don’t fit in, because I’m gay!” My response was, “So what, nobody cares about that.” And then I followed with, “Phew, what took you so long? Everyone loves you for you.” And that was that. We hugged and we cried for a while.
Rosie came to the party and a load that had been lifted. What an unnecessary burden she had been carrying for so long. If only she had spoken to me sooner. If only I had demanded an explanation for her mood swings. I kept asking myself why I hadn’t approached her sooner. I could have helped her or even just been there to listen. I learned so much during this time. The most important lesson I learned is that everything comes about in its own time, and you can’t force something that’s not meant to happen. Life has an amazing way of putting things in your path at just the right time. Try hard to pay attention to the signs and learn the lessons that come your way. When you have true, honest moments in your life, embrace them and they will change your life forever.
Rosie is the BEST amongst all of YOUSE GUYS.
Kathy,
Wow, bravo has turned into gay T.V.. Not a fan of the whole gay agenda and having it shoved in our faces everytime we turn around. I wish people would quit talking about their "sexual preference", it's not courage to talk about it on national t.v., it's their bedroom activity...Who cares.....
This episode was uncomfortable because you and your friends treat Rosie like she is a circus act - you should be ashamed of yourself.
GOD DID MAKE HER THAT WAY! She loves herself for who she is and I admire for that! You should be ashamed of yourself!
Rosie's coming out was very emotional to me. Thank you for sharing it on air, and for keeping it real. She is an awesome Aunt. I loved that SHE wanted to be the one to tell your kids. You have a special family. Thank you for sharing them with us. You are a roll model.
Rosie, Rosie, Rosie!!! She is the best and her interaction with the family is wonderful. I enjoy seeing Rosie, I like the story line now. Little sick of the fighting and I cannot stand Teresa! Still love Caroline and Rosie is the best character. I am not gay, I am the mother of three but I think she is courageous and BRAVO is courageous for airing the Caroline's brother's wedding and showing the REAL DEAL WITH ROSIE!
Rosie, Rosie, Rosie! She is the best and I appreciate her interaction with the family and how she talked with her niece and nephew. I love her courage and the courage of BRAVO to air Caroline's brother's wedding and show Rosie's struggle. I am not gay, I am the mother of three but I cried for Rosie!
Loved your blog, love when you are supportive to all of your family members! Keep staying positive, love that you have stopped acting like a mean girl!
I love your sister! My mother came out to our family when I was 3. I grew up not thinking anything was different with my family until about 4th grade when I started hearing the word "gay". I remember asking my mom if she was as she dropped me off at school one day. She said her was so nervous to talk to me, but I was really just wondering if the word I had heard applied to her. Ha she stressed for nothing. Just want to say Rosie is lucky to have you and you are likewise lucky to have her!
I admire your children! Fine job thus far Mamma, Take a bow! They have such sweet hearts that shine in every word or action! I've never heard them brag or make fun of others. Keep it up girl. I'm okay with you. At first I was still out about it. But you don't seem to be trying to bury anyone to make yourself look taller. I've seen a woman who biggest pride comes from taking care of her family and home. Tell Rosie thumbs up from Alabama and that boy of yours made me laugh until I near peed!!! "Gaydar" LOL :-)
Beautifully written. I am so happy you focused on what was important in this episode! Please stay focused on the positive and what is beautiful in each of your family members. I think it will go a long way. I love Rosie and was so touched by her honesty tonight.
Oh Rosie, you're one of my favorites! God loves you and so does the rest of America! Keep it up girlie!
I love your blogs because Ive been going through the same situation as your sister Rosie did, I have been hiding it for so long because of what others might think but I'm happy to be who I am I pay no attention to negativity.. I have been bullied all my life and close friends of mine and family know about me and they said "Phill, we love you no matter what" I like who I am and im not gonna change for anyone, I am gay too. and I have found that im much more happier with who I am because when I was being bullied and harrassed I wasnt happy, so your sister Rosie a true inspiration :) Much love to you Kathie :)
Kathy I love you and your family!!!
I LOVE Rosie...please make her a housewife! What a breath of fresh air and an inspiration to so many.
rOSIE IS SO BRAVE, YOU MUST BE SO PROUD OF HER... kaTHY, YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY SHOULD TAKE A BOW... brava!
I really liked the way Rosie spoke to Kathy's children. It was touching to see how much Victoria felt for her aunt. One thing I want to say to Rosie, "Please quit smoking." do it for yourself and your family. I did years ago and never regretted it!
I loved how open and accepting Joseph and Victoria were to Rosie. They are truly good kids with big hearts. Rosie seemed to really enjoy heather lol she was smitten! lol
Love you Kathy, but you're too normal for this show..which means 'boring' to Real Housewives viewers.
kathy i just wanna say that i love you and you are the best out of all of them. you have a great personality and you always stay out of the drama this is why i love you :-)
GREAT BLOG KATHY!! A beautiful tribute to your wonderful sister Rosie!! Much happiness to her throughout her life. Loved the talk between Rosie and your children!! You are really beginning to grow on me...and it's refreshing to not hear all of the Teresa bashing. It's very disheartening to see a group of people tearing one person down when none of them is perfect. It really should stop. Thank you for heading in the right direction!
Bravo to you for a positive blog!!!!!!!!!It is refreshing to read your blog about the episode without all the negativity that other housewives deem necessary to put in their blog every week about Teresa!!!!!!It was refreshing to read about your relationship with your sister and to get a better understanding of Rosie who is a pleasant delight on the show.
First off I would like to say I think you have the most beautiful heart of anyone I have ever seen. You are refreshing and a joy. With that said, I applaud you for your love for your family. I think a few people could take lessons from you.You are a beautiful person inside and out.You have a wonderful support force within your husband and children.Oh..I must mention.. I love you Rosie! You both have gotten my respect. Continue loving yourselves and your family and don't let anyone stand in your way of being the wonderful people that you are!!! Stay strong..
Cried the whole scene with Rosie and your babes....so sincere, real and honest...your children are amazing....and you are a tru Georgia peach!!!
I am so glad that you and your family decided to come on the show.Victoria and Joseph are very beautiful, well grounded young adults that were blessed to have you and Rich as their parents...Speaking of Rich: he is one helluva guy!!!!I find him very witty, sometimes a little crude, but best of all he is probably the most sincere, and loyal friends a person could ever hope to find in this lifetime, of course I don,t need to tell you that since you already know that and more..Rosie is awesome,I got a real kick out of her baby sitting all the kids!!!!!! Take care, Sami
I love Kathy and her family and that includes the amazing Rosie, any normal human being can see the love and respect your family has for each other. Please tell Rosie that I want to apologize for the ignorance of people still in our society who do not accept or understand. Who cares!! I hope she is able to find a special partner that will love her, cherise her, adore her, treat her like the world class gem she is!
I've never written or wrote on any other persons blog, but I feel I had too. The world wants to give you a special gold medal for putting up with diva Teresa (sorry) I know she's your family, but sometimes, you have to put boundaries up, so that she knows what you will tolerate and what behavior is acceptable. My heart breaks for Rosie that she had to hide or felt that her coming out would push her family away, I know she had to do it on her terms, but she seems so much at peace and I pray she finds a partner who is not a opportunist or fame seeker, but a true partner who adores her and treats her like a queen and doesn't try and change her in anyway. God bless you all, may you life's be fuller of love, bless and prosperity! Truely your family has touched my heart and that's makes your family endearing!
Rosie what a wonderful and beautiful creation you are of God. I am a christian women and absolutely love you on this show. You are so down to earth and just so fun and likeable. I wish you many blessings and I want you to know there is no judgement here and it would never be our place to judge another human being. I hope to see you and your family in many seasons to come.
Wonderful episode filled with love and acceptance. You are a wonderful mother and sister. Because you only "come from a place of love" your comments and actions truly reflect this. Stay true to yourself, and the other ladies will, hopefully, come along!
You know your husband really is disgusting, to tell that guy to get on a chair so Joey could (and I won't say it) was disgusting. You guys are always first to call out Teresa's husband everytime he says something crude but you never mention when your husband does. As far as Rosie goes I'm sure your kids have know for years she's gay, they are not as innocent as you think. And really who cares, she is what she is and it does not make her any less of a person.
Everyone is talking about accepting people for who they are. You have tried to be loyal to Teresa....but you are on the fence. Maybe everyone should accept her for who she is. She doesn't understand everyone and everything, all the time. Maybe you should understand her...it's ignorance that she doesn't understand things. You should support her. Otherwise love you and your family. I bet Rosie becomes a housewife after Carolynn and Jaqualine are gone! She is way more real.
Kathy U did not have anything bad to say about Teresa. I am very Happy to see this. Some do seem obsucessed with her they talk their whole blog about her, Joe and the kids with a dirrerent measure then everyone else. It is not for us to judge people. Those who live in glass houses should not be throwing stones. I do wonder Kathy why whe Joe Gorga says something inappropaite and dunb its so cute but when Teresa and Joe do they are bashed so bad. Has nothing to do with their IQ its just hard for some to put into words what they are thinking or feeling Love is Love I agree
I luved this episode!!!!! Being a mother of a 22yr old gay daughter I totally agree with the msg Rosie is trying to get across. My daughter had a hard time accepting tht she was gay (more less telling me & the rest of the family), but im so glad she didnt hold it in any longer than she already did. Major Props to the Wakile Familia, Manzo & Laurita Familias, Rosie & Bravo TV. Job well done........BRAVO!!!!
God bless Rosie. She has such a wonderful support system and is very lucky to have her family behind her.
Kathy, you seem so kind and I know your image means alot. Would you ever consider leaving the show for Teresas sake? It seems her cousin should have called her about joining in the first place. I do appreciate you bashing her less. She doesn't air certain issues. She now can't confide in her friends, family or even her brother. EVERYTHING she says can and will be used against her. If she said negative things about you to what she thought was her close friends..she never said them on air...never. And Rich forget it. Joe starts an argument and your entire family still blames Teresa. whew!!!
U shouldn't trust or let Caroline treat ur cousin Teresa that way...the way she talks about Teresa is sick. U ready don't love ur cousin ...u just in this for the money and cam like Melissa and joe . So sad
I fell in instant love with you and your family last season and I can't wait to see what happens this season.I would first like to tell you how much I ADORE you and your family. You have such a precious family. You are BEAUTIFUL,and very kind, as are your son and daughter. And your husband is funny, sweet and very protective of all of you(Your a very lucky woman to have a man like that in your life). Your mom and sister Rosie are just cute as could be. The only one little thing I can find wrong with you. Is that you are so worried about making up, and getting Theresa back in your life. Right now she is on cloud nine(and high with her extra bit of fame) with her Cookbooks. Please don't take this the wrong way but I purchased one of her cookbooks and my Lasagna still turned out dry. That was one thing I wanted to ask you. Every time and I mean every time, I make Lasagna, and Stuffed Shells the come out dry and no flavor. For once I would REALLY like to make either dish where the ricotta filling is nice and creamy In order to try and make mine somewhat creamy I add ALOT of Provolone cheese or Mozzarella cheese. I'm not asking for any of the Family secrets but I was wondering if you could maybe give a few pointers. I have tried several recipes from the back of the pasta boxes and even on The Food Network and it still doesn't come out right. I just want to make a nice creamy Lasagna or Stuffed Shells. I know the answer may come from one of your associates, but I would appreciate any help you could possible give. Thank yoou,Lisa
I'm a straight white girl. Is there a problem with me that I'm unaware of? And your husband is inappropriate on so many levels, I don't even have the energy to write about it. He makes Joe Giudice look like a saint. I've never seen Joe act so creepy and gross towards young women, as your husband did towards those servers. And the comments he made to Rosie about those young women? She was even uncomfortable. I wonder if they were even of legal age. But Kathy, I am beginning to like you, and you have really lovely children. You just need to try to be your own person, stop with the people pleasing so much. Best of luck, God Bless.
I watch the Real Housewives as a guilty pleasure, but I grew up idolizing Cliff Robenson in my home town and someones I looked up to as a child has resulted to reality TV...how disgusting.
I am impressed by your family life and your unconditional love for your sister. Such a good example of treating a person as a person and not judging them by their looks/sexuality. Good for you!! Your kids seem to have grown up into quite the gentleman and young woman. I'm sure you and Rich are so very proud of them. Love Rosie!!! Wish you all continued happiness and good health!
Too bad your part of this episode didn't end after Aunt Rosie had the talk with your kids, cuz it all went downhill from the moment the catering-girls arrived at the shore house. That whole shore house party was so uncomfortable to watch. I felt bad that your sister was treated like some kind of freak mascot and the bizarre sexual comments made to the guest former basketball player? No words. The only one who came across more fame whore-ish than the Wakile-Gorgas (if such a thing were possible, I know) is the ball players wife! I hope Rosie at least scored after being such an obvious object of ridicule.
Where were your kids?

I think you told your kids Kathy at the right time about their aunt Rosie being gay. I think they had an idea that she was gay. It had to come from her to let them know she was gay. I think you and Rich handle that issue the right way. Waiting for them to get older so they can understand better.
You have to be honest with your family and friends.
