Overprotective

Kathy Wakile isn't ashamed to admit that she's very overprotective of her kids.

By Kathy Wakile

Hi everyone!

Wow I'm really late on this week’s blog. Sorry for the delay. I've been a little busy wrapping up some projects that I'm working on. I can't wait to share them with you as soon they're ready. Check out my website and see what’s new.

OK let's get to the episode.

I really enjoyed watching the Gorgas and Giudices getting the kids off to school. The excitement on their little faces were adorable, and their parents were also so funny as they scurry about to get the kids back into a routine after a carefree summer. It feels like only yesterday I was following the school bus to school as Victoria started kindergarten. I know, I know, that seems a little neurotic and overprotective, but I just couldn't help it.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 premiere May 5th at 8/9c on Bravo and stream next day on Peacock.

That's the way I was as soon as I became a parent, and I guess you can see some things haven't changed much in 18 years. I've always been the type of person that devotes myself wholeheartedly to something I'm passionate about. When it comes to my kids, it's on a whole other level. I've always looked at parenting like this; when we leave our homes we lock them and we store away all of our valuables with such care. Well what's more valuable to us as parents than our children? I think that you would all agree that there isn't a single thing. Overprotective? Yes, that's my duty and my passion. After visiting The University of Maryland, I actually gained a new perspective and became much more open to Victoria going away to school. As I mentioned, I didn't go to college and I really didn't know what to expect from campus life. The students that gave us a tour were wonderful and so informative, we were lucky to hear all of their experiences. I'm glad that they had a great sense of humor as well.

Visiting our nation's capital was an added bonus to our trip. Although we have visited Washington D.C. with Victoria and Joseph before, this trip was much more profound since they are a little  older and were able to gain more appreciation from the experience. It was a great way for Rich and me to share some of our family's history and the sacrifices our parents made to start new lives in America. As we sat at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial it isn't hard to become inspired as we look around and recognize the struggles and sacrifices of our forefathers that have fought for our freedom have made.

I leave you this week with my final thoughts and prayers for all the victims of 9/11 and their families. For the survivors I pray that you find peace. I continue to give thanks to the brave men and women that protect us and our country's freedom here and overseas.

Lots of Love,

xoxo Kathy
