We All Scream for Ice Cream

Kathy's ready to take on a sweet new challenge.

I told you all Beatstock was fantastic! Now you can see what I meant. Both Gia and Melissa were amazing. We had so much fun watching them perform. Gia certainly has become a great dancer. We are all so proud of the great job she did. It’s wonderful to see that she has found her passion at such a young age. Melissa really rocked her performance as well, and with each new song you can definitely see that she is coming out of her comfort zone. Her voice and stage presence keep getting better and better.

The Fancy Food Show is a huge trade show. It’s amazing to see how blk started last year with a small booth and has now grown into a huge exhibit. It’s a testament to the terrific partnership that Chris Laurita has formed with his nephews Albie and Chris and the rest of their team. It looks like he may need to crack the whip from time to time, but what are uncles for? How adorable was Greg when he met Patti LaBelle? Come to think of it, they both seemed equally smitten with one another. Lots of luck to Albert and Caroline with The Brownstone Sauce. All of us from the neighborhood have been enjoying it for years, and I’m sure everyone else will love it as much as we do.
No matter where life takes you, it’s always great to remember where you came from. So when I decided to take my dessert making hobby to the next level, I thought Gelotti’s Ice Cream shop in my old neighborhood was a perfect place for me to create some special desserts. “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!” And who doesn’t love ice cream (or should I say gelato) in the summer? It was a big step for me to get out of the comfort of my own kitchen and decide to make desserts for the general public. So going back to my roots seemed like the logical place for me to start and produce a sampling. I was thrilled that Sal Sigona our longtime friend and owner of Gelotti’s was receptive to my idea as well. We all go back such a long time. As a matter of fact, Rosie’s first job was working for Sal and his partner when they first opened. It was and still is a favorite neighborhood gathering spot.

I’ve been a stay home mom for the past 17 years and my job has been to keep everyone happy and my household running smoothly. I’ve gotten very good at that part of my life, however, my business sense isn’t something I’ve had to work on in quite a while. I’ve been very fortunate to have Rich to rely on for that, and honestly I’ve always liked that arrangement. So Rich’s little pep talk was great and the push that I needed. But wasn’t I supposed to give the pitch? I’m the one who’s making the desserts and doing the work. Some habits are hard to break, and if Rich’s compulsion to take care of me kicks in, I’ll take it. That’s one habit I’m glad he has, and I hope it never changes. I’m a lucky girl. See you all next week!

Dina: What am I Doing Here?

Dina Manzo explains what it's like to sit on the reunion couch.

Hi all,

I kind of meant what I said on that couch -- this show is so f---ed up. As I sit and watch the reunion, I wonder what goes through people's head sometimes. Bobby literally spitting on me as he screams at a friend of 10 years, Jim whipping out his files and then of all things says I have a fat ass, LOL! For what? Fame? I literally sat there saying to myself time and time again, "What the hell am I doing here?" Again, not ever saying I'm too good, but just different. There is something really beautiful that came out of this though...I am seeing some real proof of my practices. Take a look

Sending you a ton of love for your support!

Dina xoxo
