What is it about the Gotham bachelor party that makes every woman want to arrive nearly naked? I think between Bethenny, Kelly and myself we had one full dress ... when confronted with NYC’s bachelors, best to be as scantily dressed as possible. I was surprised that Sonja covered up so much! That was the first night I wondered whether B might be pregnant, though at the time I told myself she was just glowing because of the engagement (and had her hair extensions in!) We arrived and no sooner had we gotten past the red carpet but Jill hit the eject button on her red fighter jet, ahem banquette, and raced to the opposite side of the room. Although I had been hearing it from both sides, I couldn’t believe that things had gotten SO bad Jill couldn’t even share a booth with her until I saw it happen. Just the sort of thing you want to experience when you’re over the moon about getting engaged – your former best friend can’t even breathe your air. First Kelly tried, then Simon tried and Jill still wouldn’t go talk to Bethenny, claiming she needed Bobby by her side. If she’d said she wanted him to hear the news and congratulate her at the same time, that would have been plausible but I don’t think that was really it. Bethenny and Jason decided to leave and said their goodbyes, then outside there was Jill again. Wow. Ring – a – ding – ding. Yes, B’s ring is a gorgeous piece of jewelry, but it’s a symbol of the engagement, which comes from the commitment made to spend the rest of their lives together which comes from the love they feel. It’s not just about cut, carat and color – isn’t there another C in there? Can’t remember. Ah yes, clarity. At this point we all could use some. Maybe Jill felt uncomfortable and didn’t know what to say, so she pounced on the ring. Maybe I’m giving her too much credit. Who knows. At any rate, the congratulation confrontation ended and so did the episode. If you think that was dramatic ... wait, oh, just wait.
Until next week, and if you’re in the Miami/Boca/FLL/Tampa area, we hope we’ll get to meet you!
Alex, I think you are great! You always have a classiness about you and keep yourself out of the mess! Bravo to you! Way to go Alex!!! Debra
No so sure you are one of my favorites anymore tonight was very ugly of you in the episodes ahead . . .
Alex...still adore you stay classy. also you have not made a comment about your returning next season..we are all waiting, as I have stated before no Alex....no me!!!
Alex, I just love you and Simon. You have been a breath of fresh air this year. I can't wait to see what happens between you and Jill!
Alex..you are my favorite housewife..beautiful, smart and most of all kind. Don't let those back stabbing, gossip hound housewives corrupt you...love the show and good luck with the book.
Great blog as usual, though I wish it was longer :(
You were completely right about Jill she wasn't waiting for Bobby she just wanted to scorn Bethenny again, once she realized the hoopla and attention the engagement would get she decided she wanted a piece of the action and went to chat with Bethenny....
she had 3 opportunities why now suddenly? -- because there was positive attention and diamonds surrounding Bethenny and she wanted a piece of the action!
I hope you Never change...I must admit season 1 I could care less for you or simon..but as the years has passed I have grown to LOVE you!!
I have to say first of all, that I love watching your family, it truly does make me happy to see all of you together and seeing the bond that you share with Simon is truly something special, kudos!
As an east coast girl, I feel as if watching the housewives of New York is something I can really wrap my head around, all of you are so real. Living in Virginia and clinging to the fact that all we have is being honest with one another and putting forward the true person you are is important to me. I feel like you, Simon, your children (so adorable!), Bethenney, and Jason all show your true colors and I feel like if I met you on the street in passing you would be exactly the person I see on screen, how refreshing.
Congrats on your new book, I do not have any children but I am sure it is wonderful! I wish you and your family all the best and I hope you are truly having fun traveling and spending some time with your fans. :)
I've enjoyed watching you this season. You and Simon seem completely normal compared the other housewives this season! I can understand how Bethany probably enjoys talking with you as you are a calm listener.
Alex thank you for being a genuine person. I stopped watching of the other "real housewives", only to keep watching housewives of NYC, because there seems to be more substance. This season made me start to wonder if I had to give up housewives all together. You seen to be the real deal, so I'm still in for housewives NYC. Hope I haven't been snuckered. I'm glad your are there for Bethenny.
Hi Alex, I'm really liking you this season and I'm sorry to correct your grammar, but you "feel bad," not badly...just like you don't "feel sadly" or "feel gladly!" You say that you "felt badly" a lot on the show and it's an incorrect usage of the word.
Brooklyn, this show is has become almost intolerably nauseating, but you are a breath of fresh air. keep it real girl. XO
I must say that you have really surprised me this year and let us get to know the real you and what I've seen I just adore! Unfortunately we have got to know the real Jill and the real LuAnn...think we've always seen the real, or shall I say, unreal Kelly and the really out there Ramona. Stay close to B if you can, Alex. She really needs her friends right now since the Mean Girls, Jill, Kelly and LuAnn seem to have it out for her and with her being preggers, it's not a good match. If she weren't...look out! Anyway, thanks for saving B from the vultures! Love to finally meet the real ALEX.
I love you, you are so real. Im so happy you are on the show. Keep up the great work and congrats on the book.
Hi Alex! The best part of tonights show was you and Bethenny having the REAL lunch. Not uncomfy, not waiting on the fight to start - not waiting for the fake congrats. Totally totally down to earth and a great friendship moment for you and B. Loved it! So I have picked up on what I guess Jill, Kelly and Luann think is a secret jab at Bethenny, the wearing of the furs. Not only do they literally look stupid, but it just goes to show their jealousy of Bethenny and her PETA campaign. I can hear them now, "lets all wear fur to make B mad"... them running out and getting them and making their plans. My name for them "The RATfur Pack". Not only is wearing it sick - the ones they are wearing are all fugly and zero on the fashion scale.
Alex, you were stellar this week. Really classy and nice to Bethenney. I honestly don't know how any of you stomach Jill. She is truly a legend in her own mind and always turns everything into some kind of pity party for herself. She was insufferable tonight, on every count.
You seem to really be the one who is coming out the best this season and that is cool for you. I love that you take the high road and don't let those insaniacs drag you into their stuff.
Alex, you have truly gone from being my least favorite housewife to one of my two favorites (Bethenny being the other). Your maturity and good sense are a breath of fresh air every week!
I think it was OBVIOUS that Jill felt uncomfortable from Bethanny's rude reaction to Jill's congratulations....talking about her ring was just small talk. It might have sounded awkward because they're not the best of friends at the moment, but honestly? That's the way I would have talked with a friend who announced her engagement and showed me a big rock. What the hell is the big deal?
I like that you're staying more to the middle though and not just on Bethenny's side like you usually do. It shows that you are the only adult among all the women.
Alex!!! *big huggy* I so love you and Simon, I believe this season you two are so terrific. Bravoooooooo!! I hope you don't let this two go anywhere. We sooooooooooo love you both. You bring balance to this show. Specially when some others in the show. Are walking around with there head stuck on themselves like Jill. Just want you to know that you are so loved... And Girl!!! I saw how beautiful you looked for Bethany's Wedding. Oh my God you and Ramona looked so beautiful. You and Simon are good people and friends.
love ya, Diamondgirl
Loved that when Bethenny told you she was engaged and showed her finger, all you could do was be happy for her. It wasn't about the ring, or the size and cost, but about two friends sharing great news. How nice (especially in a series where women are so cruel) to see that kind of friendship still exists.
Should Alex ever see this, I would highly recommend a greyhound! LOL I have 2 retired racers - elegant, quiet (hardly bark) and very easy to maintain - low activity! I have volunteered for years with them. .. they are lazy lazy lazy dogs. Plus, you get to dress them up - they actually like it. (I'm not kidding, they do.) Simon could have a blast.
Alex I have to say, you have become my favorite housewife. I wasn't sure the first season I "met" you, how to take you. But as time goes on I really agree with Bethany, you are a genuine friend. You are the most "real" and honest person on the show. Please don't let the drama and the other women change you.
You are a class act all the way!! I love that B has a caring and classy friend. You are great. Wish I had a friend like you too!
Don't change a thing. You and Simon are the King and Queen of Class. Maybe you should "school" some of those other "ladies".
You are a darling person and a wonderful friend. You make us all want to be more like you. A loving wife, devoted mother and so poised and beautiful. Don't ever stoop to the behavior of the others. I still get upset when I think of Jill and Luann and how they were talking about your sons. Your heart broke and so did mine. Ditch Jill and her sidekick and for the love of Bravo, you and Simon deserve your own show. It will be the one to watch.
Alex, I'm so very happy that bethenny has you. What a wonderful time this is in her life and I'm very happy that she realized that you were "a low maintenance friend" and that you were honestly happy for her. Unconditional friendship,- something she's not familiar with. Brava to you!! You introduce some much needed sanity into this very disfunctional group of women. I've ordered your book and can't wait for it to come! All the best to you and your beautiful, love-filled family.
I just wanted to say first that I thought you looked great at the Gotham party. If you look at the footage that showed you and B getting out of the car and walking toward the event, you were glowing too...Kudos to you, if you have it, then flaunt it! I will be honest and say that on the first season I thought the you were a snob and I didn't like Simon at all. I will be the first to admit I judged you quickly. Now I see that you and Simon seem truly connected and "real", flaws and all. (We all have them. And you were so right when you told B that we're all damaged). I think that your true colors are showing and proving that you are a genuine and classy lady.
I just have to say, Alex I think your the sanest person on the show.I happen to love You and Simon together.I also take my husband everywhere with me because he is my best friend and I enjoy being with him. I love that Simon is exspresive in what he wears. I love the way he picks your clothes and I love the way he loves you it's very Romantic
I wish you to have a happy and safe trip to FL.
I am waiting for my copy of your book I ordered in Borders... I have heard it is GREAT! I can't wait to read it!
I am heartbroken after watching this episone tonight... every week I was thinking something was going to happen and things will go back to normal between Bettenny and Jill... JESS! I WAS WRONG!
Watching the previews for next week... I pray for you and Simon... without YOU TWO and Bettenny... I am not interested in watching mean and spoiled girls.
You and Simon are the ONLY kind, compassionate, head level, down to earth people in this program, the rest are so superficial.
What we are going to do without your insights?
I hope I am wrong.
C in Nevada
I can't wait to read your blog and hear your inciteful comments every week. I really like you and Bethenny the best and your husbands too.
Alex, I am so glad that we have come to really know you this season. You have proven yourself as a mature and lovely person. I am so glad that you have been there for Bethenny. You have such a gift for listening when someone is talking to you. That is something few of us really have. I admire that in you. You are beautiful on the outside but more importantly you are beautiful on the inside.
Also, wanted to tell you I think your home has turned out beautifully. I don't know how you and Simon managed to get through all the removations with 2 little ones!
Alex- You and Simon are a very sweet couple. You two seem to over-look the catty BS that circles around you. Although without that - would there be a show in the first place? I am not a reality show fan, but the New York show is something I do watch. God Bless you and your sweet family.
You have such a level head. I am very happy that you and Betheny have become close. You two are really special. Couldn't Bravo find another one with some sense to join the group? We really needed another bimbo, right? I think Ramona has a good heart most of the time. I am so embarassed for poor Bobby. He seems like such a nice man. Give Simon and the boys a peck on the cheek from this ole granny. Be happy and enjoy life. The jerks in life usually fall by the wayside so do not be bothered by them.
Wow! Have opinions in this house changed about Alex!!( not that it really matters to her bc we are just strangers glimpsing parts of these peoples lives) Anyway, it is really refreshing to watch how real and genuine Alex can be!! It's definately improved the watchability of the show. The other housewives definately could learn a few things from her. So glad Bethenny has found a true friend to have on her life during all the wonderful new beginnings! We are all so glad your on the show Alex!!!!!
Alex, Congratulations on the success of your book and the clarity with which you write your blogs. Watching the show this season has been nothing short of PAINFUL! Truly. Honestly, I believe it may be time for you and Bethenny to move on to other ventures. Let the other "high schoolers" keep attending the W of NYC High.
I like you more and more each episode this season. I can't wait to see what you did to make Jill cry. Whatever it was, way to go!!!
You've been so kind to Bethenny and have seemed to be really genuine all this season. Lots of brownie points for you.
Alex, I want you to be Bethanny's new best friend, you are wonderful!
Good luck with your book and signings!
Alex...you are a very classy lady, and definitely one of my favorite housewives. Best of luck with your book tour.
It was so nice that you were there for Bethenny. When one gets news like that after waiting for the one for so long you need someone who understands that kind of love to share it. I was so sad Bethenny found out she was pregnant, could have been TV but I think even so, she was alone. No one readily available at that moment. Bethenny hit the trifacta now.
It was a cop out for Jill to need Bobby. I think she really did it only because once every other cast member congratulated Bethenny she would have been the only one who said nothing. Sad that Luann congratulates then brought up old drama. It took away from the congratulations.
Well we will be riveted next week when you and Simon are on WWHL after. And hopefully the chums make it to see Mickey one day.
Alex, you are the hero, in this villianista group. I 've never come across such catty women in my life, andmay I never! THey are so ,forget High School! we are watching "middle school" here! I am so proud of you. you have always been the gisselle, in the group, so poised and graceful. Who in this world wouldn't ever want a friend like you in there croner! You are the second best thing to ever come along for Bethenny, only after her now husband. I hope Bethenny, can only be courdial to the rest of the group, but really see ,how her true friend is you. and dump the rest, Who needs them!
Hi Alex, You are such a class act and you look terrific this season. I wish I lived closer to your book signings so I could meet you both. Take care.
Here is a belated comment. I really like your little boys - - they are smart, cute and handsome. I'm not a parent, and my husband and me are both not kid people (we're excellent auntie & uncle) but I really felt your pain over Jill's mean spirited remarks about your son. You were gutted and rightfully so. HOLY S--T, if anyone ever said anything about her child like that, well we don't have to go there do we, look at what she did to her friendship with Bethenny.
Hi Alex, maybe Jill did act weird but I think she just doesn't know how to turn off her emotions when it comes to Bethenny.I think she was just so hurt that she can't even put on an act.Bethenny hasn't helped in any way.Now that she has Jason and is expecting, she just doesn't care about Jill at all and that's sickening to me.I wish you and Simon a good trip and hope the booksignings go well.I hope the rumors I'm hearing about you and Simon leaving are not true.NYC Housewives were always my favorite but this season things have gone downhill. And the new wife thinks she's all that and FYI, she's not! Thanks for the blog Alex.
Alex, I'm very glad there is a third season of Real Houswives, because this season, I believe, is your best. So far, at least. You've really shown that you have a great head on your shoulders. You're genuine, down-to-earth, very hardworking, and a great mother. You're also not really involved in any of the catyness or drama that ensues on the show with the other ladies ever so much. I just want to say I am very impressed. Keep on being the wonderful Alex that we all love.
