Happy Summer!

Alex talks stylist secrets, runway modeling lessons, and off-season plans.

June 29, 2010

Happy Summer! It’s the last day of school for the chums and I can’t quite believe the preschool days are over in this house. Sigh. More book signings coming up this summer, along with some exciting other things you’ll find out about later, and I have to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has come to meet us and bought the book or downloaded the Kindle.

So I have to tell you, when this episode aired Simon and I were in a restaurant and had just ordered our main courses ... what did I order? Veal, of course. At least it wasn’t a veal chop, or an armpit! And didn’t have a juice box attached. Oh, Sonja is a very good friend for that, and Ramona never seems to sweat so I guess it worked! Did she do both sides? She must have.

I think I’m officially going to start calling KKB "Kellybean" (and not in a mean way – the girl just likes her candy!) I actually agree that it’s probably not the smartest thing to do to invite a guy over for one-on-one drinks when the kids are around. Sonja knew what she was talking about with the side entrances. Luckily I’m married so I don’t need to install another door ...

I was pleased to see the S. Kuhlman event that our stylist Alegra organized – she was a big help throughout season 3 keeping us fabulously dressed, and turned her attentions to Jason and Mario that evening ... until Mario and Ramona disappeared into the dressing room, that is! In my opinion the secret of a good stylist is to get you dressed the way you would dress yourself if you had the time and the immediate knowledge of where to get the perfect piece, right now, and Alegra definitely got inside our heads. During the shopping trip we all kind of horrified Bethenny with our pregnancy stories; oops. I think she rallied, though, and looked pretty amazing on the PETA billboard.

The Anita Kaufman foundation invited me to model in their show during fashion week, an event which raised money for epilepsy awareness in schools. I was thrilled to participate, and loved it that Ramona came out in support (AND stayed, even though she thought about leaving). That night I wore long, heavy dresses and definitely learned a valuable lesson for Brooklyn Fashion Week{end} – make sure the dress doesn’t get caught between your legs when you walk!

What can I say I'm such a FAN of the show...You and Bethany were my favourite also I think you both are very honest people and I respect that.. Love Lara for the U.K x

Hi Alex,

A big fan of yours from the UK here. You and Bethany were my favourite on the show. You, especially because of your unique insight into all the drama, you are wise. Every time you spoke to the wives about any drama, I always thought, that is just what I would've said too. Its a shame TV bosses only want drama & have taken you off the show, what a bunch of short sighted A**holes!. I think you balanced out the dynamics of the show. You and Simon make marriage look easy peasy. Keep up the good work and know that there are many of us out here wishing you to do even better.

Alex,

It seemed tonight that Kelly and Sonja were kind of not so nice to you. Any hurt feeling?

apple pie

Alex. I commend you for keeping it real. Must be very hard in a world where drama is the IN thing.

Your my favorite housewife! I think you have true class and am so happy you found your voice, that was much needed! I think the way Sonja treated you and Simon at the equlity march was very rude! I hope Sonja has appoligized to you and I wish you were able to speak, I think you two really would have done a much better job than Sonja anyway! Keep your head up and by the way I LOVE your modeling pics, Beautiful lady.

I Love your style!! I have been watchig reruns on Bravo today and I am always surprised how sane and genuine you are. You are just about the nicest, sweetest, kindest person of all the different housewives on Bravo. please don't change ever. You are like the lamb being ready for slaughter. I hope you don't become jaded by their self promoting, self absored ways. Love you so very much for your goodness, take care.

You are a bright and articulate women compared to the rest of the "girls", so very refreshing:)

you are bright and articulate, so refreshing of all the housewives combined.

ALEX YOU LOOK LIKE ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY FROM BEWITCHED THAT'S A GOOD THINK YOU QUIET SEXY SWEET BUT YOU HAVE A WILD SIDE TOO I LIKE THAT ABOUT YOU DONT CHANGE

Greetings Alex,

Although I am entertained by all of the Housewives of New York, and think each of you are very intelligent, benevolent, loving individuals, I appreciate and admire your individuality the most. The relationship that you and Simon enjoy is no doubt unique and special. Have all the fun that you two can muster up; maybe it will teach others a thing or two. Stay grounded and SANE throughout it all...

Best Wishes in 2011...

Alex you are a drama queen and mean girl this season! If you did not gossip so much everyone could have gotten along. Shame on you.

You should listen to your daughter.

Oh.....And the whole, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Just sayin'.

Hi Alex,

I love the show and they just finished showing the reunion and I think your fantastic.
Your honest and your real and thats a great qaulity. keep it up.
Stay away from Jill and Kelly, they are not worth it.

Cheers.

Keep on shining
Hi from Australia.
Love the show - Beth, Rom and
Jill however, Kelly and LuAnn add
the thriller and scary element.
You looked fab at Rom wedding
very beautiful and elegant.
Don't change.

Hi Alex
Enjoyed you alot this season.
You go girl and love Romona and
Bethany. I also enjoy Jill but
Kelly and LuAnn seem like they
are both missing the 8 ball.

I looovvveeee your laugh =)

Alex being in Australia we are delayed in our viewing, I have to say please stay away from Jill, she used to be such a nice person what the hell has Luann done to her, stay yourself which is intelligent, lady like.

Hope you are not affected in your section of Brooklyn by the storm today. Let your fans know you are okay.

Luv you. You have come into your own on this show. Stay away from Jill.I think she is blaming you for her distance from Bethanney when it was her who did it. Jill has no real storyline on this show so, she's creating conflict with you to stay on. The countess has no storyline either, why are they still there?

Alex, stay the way you are & continue to grow & tell it like it is.

Thanks for the entertainment.

Ciao,
Dear Alex so glad to see a peek of you & Simon at Bethenny's wedding. You were so gracious in your gown. Loved your hair. And Simon looked decent. Glad to hear that your charities are doing well. And your book. I've just read excerpts from different news blogs. I hope Hoda will have you on the Today Show to talk about the epilepsy. I hear Ramona went on a safari to Kenya. Wow what a wedding night. lol Can't wait for the new season to come on to see you and your family. Glad to hear your job situation has become so fulfilling for you. Would love to have an autographed picture of you, Simon and the boys. How can I request an autographed picture of Ramona and her family since she evidently doesn't do blogs (like she says about not doing windows either, lol). Appreciate the help if you can. If not, we still love you here in redneck Kentucky. In my crowd, I'm the only one from New York City so needless to say, my girlfriends watch it with me. (they like the way that I tawk, lol)
Ciao,
Carlyne

Alex, you are so humble, gracious and one of the purest woman on this show. Stay true to yourself. Some of the other women seem to take advantage of what they see as weakness and you get hurt by this. The biggest strength is that you stay away from the bull and you don't have to prove yourself to anyone as your inner strength naturally shines through with your kind heart and true intensions. You are someone that others can aspire to be like. All the other women are not bad people, however they fall victim to the ways of this world which we all do. Everyone can resonate at some time or another with a character on the show whether they are in good or bad form. Its how we reflect upon this and strive to better ourselves that counts. all my love. Australian fan xx

Alex, you are great and so is Simon, i am a pediatrician, and i have worked with children my whole life. Your boys are adorable , although i honestly think that if they don't get help and discipline, they will grow to be out of control as they are now. some tough love would do them good. at least admit to your self that they are a bit out of control. nothing wrong with being modest. best of luck, again you are a great mother and wife and person. that is why i am giving you this advice.

I want to say your marriage is wonderful, hope you'll stay that happy.

Hey Alex and Simon from Australia.........you guys are fabulous. Love watching you down here. We are of course behind in shows, we have just seen the episode with Ramona inviting Bethanny and Jill to her apartment....but I dont want to hijack your blog with comments on that!!!

Say Gday to Simon :)

Alex, you really got your style on this past season! You looked great. I am so happy you stood up to jill. The only problem was that it was so public. Jill did deserve to be confronted though! Good job!

Alex - I would love for Bravo to keep You [Simon], Ramona [Mario], Bethenny [Jason] and Sonja...maybe guests visits from Shawn [event planner] and our own Andy Cohen [and Andy's significant other invited to events].... Why Not on the real housewives of NYC. You all could make a TERRIFIC show...filled with love, some bickering...natural day to day events and fun! Andy Cohen--This was proven with Bethenny's Getting Married...day to day drama...NO HATE, NO MEANNESS--and it is still a hit show. Your fans would LOVE IT. I love You all...Hugs and blessings, #1 Nana fm MD

Alex,
Thank you for all the wonderful shows. I have enjoyed watching them greatly. I have a query, I believe I saw you in Kate & Leopold (2001) at the very end of the movie with a glass in your hand next to a younger woman after Kate (Meg) came through the crowd to dance with Leopold. Am I correct, this has been a quiet & deliberate nag in the back of my mind??

Alex, I am so glad you finally found your voice and stood up to these women. You are the only one on the show who has shown grace and poise and maturity. The others are all a bunch of drama queens as far as I can see. You and Simon and the boys are a wonderful family unit and I know you will go far. I love Simon's fashion sense myself. He is a man who is comfortable with himself. Wish more men were like that. Good luck.

So sorry to miss your book signing this past Saturday--but was so, SO HAPPY to meet you and Simon at Paradise! [Even though the a/c was not working, the two of you looked as cool and graceful as anyone possibly could.] It was truely the highlight of my summer! Thanks for being you, a true lady--it was a thrill to meet you both!

Alex, You were always one of my favorites. I loved you and Simon but what happened to you??? I can't get over how badly you were treated by Ramona and Bethany last season and now you are BFF's with those ladies. I don't ever remember Jill saying very mean things to you or about you and your kids and if she did she apologized. I think you need to watch last season over again and see who was really the mean girls!!! It wasn't Jill! I think you are doing to this get more air time. I think you wanted more attention. You are no longer one of my favorite housewives. You have no class and considering how we have seen your kids behave on camara...Im not sure why you have a book on parenting...What you did to Jill infront of everybody shows no class or mannors. Those are just a few important things parents should be teaching their children and you set a bad example.

i totally disagree, i think Alex is the only one who is real on the show, the rest are fake, want to be the centre of attention all the time, and i think they thrive on putting others down so they appear better. Alex just continue to be yourself and feel free to make friends with whoever you wish to be friendly with. I love your family too, your kids behave like any normal kids that age, and just a point to note they are not acters and so we don't expect them to behave like they are in a movie-- all perfect and stuff.

I miss you this summer already. I am enjoying your blog on the new jersey side. I thank God we had your cool grace and elegance this season. With so much hate and craziness spewing, you were the calm in the storm. Can't wait to see more of you and Simon!!!

This is directed to BRAVO. I love Bethany. BUT, not one of the housewives on any of the shows is interesting enough to carry a whole season. Bethany getting married is downright boring for most of the 44 minutes each week. I continue to watch each week, but not the whole show. I usually tune out after 20 minutes or so. Bethany telling Jayson he is lucky he got some this week is just none of our business. Keep that at home in private. Anyway, please rush this season and do not give anyone else their own spin-off. I like them all but not enough for a season. Maybe you could do a week in the life and condense it to one hour of each lady on each show so that we can get to know them. Like a biography. But not a season of the same person.

Dear ALex,
you need to leave the show. You have nothing to offer. I think you and Simon need to move on to something else that is more up your alley.

negative!!!

Your accent, manners and attitude remind me of my life (born and raised in Kansas - (except for a stay in Georgia to go to collage) Now living in Oklahoma. I have always wondered when you were going to show the Kansas attitude You are to smart for them. By the way were in Kansas were you from?

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
Maybe it's a time to spend with your boys and husband, reflecting on who you really are.
It is interesting to watch the old re-runs from season 1 and 2 that are currently being aired here and there. I think those seasons show the real you, not the mean girl you became, jumping on Bethenny's fight against Jill so as to boost your position on the show. Without Bethenny's alliance, what do you really have to offer the viewers on your own that is of interest?
Mixing the old season shows in with the season 3 reunion really conveys a contrast in you. It's like Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hide. I mean, all those times in seasons 1 & 2 when you were telling us you didn't care at all about status and what people thought of you were really just lies??? Because if we watch season 3 reunion, you are having a near nervous breakdown yelling at Jill for all the replies you built up within yourself and never said to her in seasons 1 and 2.
That means you really did care what she said. Why her and not the others? It is still so strange, because these re-runs show Bethenny and Ramona as the ones who said truly cruel things to you on a regular basis.

Alex,
You are an asset to the show. I enjoyed watching you the season before, but especially liked you this last season. Your fine personality really came out this season. I like the way you were there for Bethenny. I think she found a true friend in you. You were also a stronger person this season. I'm glad that you are speaking your mind and defending youself against Jill. I also enjoy seeing you on "Bethenny Getting Married". I look forward to seeing you more on both shows.

I think you are great and deserve to be commended for keeping your cool while dealing with all the wackiness you have dealt with. But I do have to say how can you get upset when someones says your child misbehaves when you dont believe in discipline. That is so strange to me. Life has rules and if you dont follow them there are consequinces. I think that is really unfair to your children and thier future. In my opinion a good loving mother teaches her children right from wrong and enforces good behavior. If you dont want your kids to be thought of as wild urchins then make them behave!

The only reason why Alex created drama between Jill and Bethanny this season is so she can stay on the show. Think about it. She was quiet, awkward, and unattractive in the previous seasons. Since she lost her job, she needed to do something to make viewers interested in her. So why not get in the middle of the Jill and Bethanny drama? Alex, leave the show. You are awkward and cannot hang with the rest of the housewives.

Alex, when you first came onto the show, I didn't know what to make of you. But you have grown in a way that is an inspiration for me, sticking up for yourself and what you believe, and even more importantly, taking a step back to decide what that is for you in every situation. I'm not putting you on a pedestal, you're not perfect lol...and that's the best part...you come off as a real person, and I have yet to see you be condescending to anyone. The way you love your children is the best thing, you are very warm with them. And posing nude? My gosh, it's 2010, when are we going to get over our hang-ups about the human body on display? Do what you do Alex!

Your dress for B's wedding was horrible.. Who wears black to a wedding? It was classless and looked more like lingerie.

You are very pretty!
but have little to offer...watching you at Bethenny's wedding I kept wondering why you exist on either show.
Simon was smashed and puffy. Not so pretty.

Hey you are my fav of the housewives. Jill is just jealous of your friendship with Bethany. that is why she was so mean to you. and Kelly is just crazy. You didn't deserve there attacks. i wish you the best..

That's not a real friendship. That's a friendship by default.

Love your style, your hair, your attitude this season.
You are CLASS ACT woman, Alex with a great sense of humor.
LOVE reading your posts
Cheers from Sunny California :-)

Of all the ladies, I would have thought that you would have been the one to help repair everyone's relationship with Jill. I wish you would look at season one again and watch how Ramona and her husband treated you and your husband.....and pay close attention to who backed you up...Jill.
How sad.

Alex, your hair has started to look different from the first two seasons. I love it. It was nice before, but it looks really smooth and shiny.
