Things I wish would have made it in: the Fulton Ferry Landing playdate with my best bud from college, his partner and their adorable kiddo. The Brooklyn Passport presentation at our housewarming party by the fabulous Marty Markowitz, Borough President of Brooklyn. Axelle Brooklyn and the night that Simon played pool better than he played tennis. The slightly cocktail-lubricated duet from Annie sung onstage by Alex McCord and Bethenny Frankel at the Help for Orphans benefit. Yes, really. For that matter, the moment when the whole cast jumped onstage at Creaky Joints to sing “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” If there’s a band and a stage, at least one of us will start singing. This is why, if you live in the NY area, you have to actually buy a ticket to one of these benefits – your money goes to a worthy cause and something crazily entertaining will always happen. And say I invited you. LOL.
Next week the reunion special will air in two parts, and I cannot WAIT to see what made the cut. We filmed the whole day and really, the editors could just run the tape as so much happened. Things occurred that none of us expected – questions were cleared up, buried tensions came out to play, season one even reared its head….and more than one male cast member showed up for the martini. In acting, the martini is the final shot of the day. In reality-land, it’s an actual martini (or champagne or gin,) downed for medicinal purposes after the cameras are shut off. Watch what happens!
I just have to say I enjoy very the way Alex and Simon are so into each, I enjoy watching them together and they enjoy hanging out with each other. I don't really see the big deal. I find it very refreshing so please keep doing what your both doing.
Alex! You're awesome!!I love your humour..You are a classy, smart, beautful woman. No wonder Simon cant get enough of you!!
Alex, I still can not believe that I have become such a fan of a t.v. show, let alone a reality show. You have 2 lovely sons, and you and simon seem to really enjoy life together. I have a wonderful three year old daughter, but not a husband to share everything with seeing your family, well I want someone to share it all with too. Have a wonderful summer.
((Alex)) KUDOS to you for your poise and grace on the final reunion shows. As with the rest of the season you were kind and gracious. You do not have to apologize for having a loving husband, normal active children, or any other part of your life, home and career. I was glad to see that you did not apologize or buckle under to the socialista pressures. I adore all the women on the show for different reasons with the exception of Kelly and she is just to far out there for me. Best of luck to you and your family, look forward to seeing you on next year.
ALEX YOU TRULY ARE THE EPITOMY OF WOMAN, THROUGH ALL THAT B.S. YOU HAVE ALWAYS MANAGED TO REMAIN POISED AND COMPOSED. THE COMMENT'S ON YOUR FAMILY ARE UNWARENTED. I SEE JEALOUSY AND REGRET THAT SOME OF THOSE WOMEN DON'T HAVE WHAT YOU HAVE. AND WHAT YOU HAVE MY DEAR IS ALL , YOU HAVE IT ALL. YOU STAY TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE , AND REAR YOURHEAD TO THE SNAKES ON THE SHOW....
Alex and Simon and the Boys! You are the real family! I love the way that you and Simon adore one another! That is what marriage should be! I think you have gotten a bum rap. Alex you have so much class. You maintain your composure during absolute chaos. Which is what a lot of wives and mothers face everyday! You have Grace under pressure, I think the Countess needs to learn a thing or two from you! I could have punched Ramona in the nose for ridiculing you for saying that you had a horrendous week without Simon, so you sat on the couch and had a cocktail instead of going out and socializing. She does not have the capacity to understand that everyone does not live as she does and maybe to others her life isn't so wonderful. She lacks empathy. You have been accused of being a social climber and not real by Ramona and others. Is is so wrong to try to better ourselves, or our situation? I think the others feel that they have "arrived", but really they just feel intimidated by you. I think Simon is hilarious! The boys are adorable and rambunctious, just as boys should be! Relax more Alex, you deserve it! Don't feel guilty about going to the spa! Your a role model for many of us.
I really enjoyed watching you and simon. I like how you handle yourselves when confronted and I think you two are very gracious.
I just wanna say, you are a very classy lady. I'm glad you stick up for yourself for whatever comes at you. Those girls can get catty. I enjoyed watching you on the show. Simon he is a character he seems to be different. I bet he keeps the laughter in the home going.
WTF with your HUSBAND lifting your dress twice for all the world to see? That is just too freaking weird. If my husband did that to me... well, he never would, because that is what a Normal husband WOULD NOT do.
Alex, you are all right. It took me all season to get there, but you write well, act pretty classy, actually, and seem honest. It's that skeevy, creepy weirdo husband of yours that I don't like. Is he really the best you could have done??
You guys are great! Everybody can see you guys aren't the run on the mill people. Who whats that anyway. Yall seem to be nice, honest, and care people. To take the grap that gets dish out to you guys and not just go off is a real view as to what kind of people you guys are. Alex good luck with the new job. Good luck with the house(God bless you, with two small kids too) I'm looking forward to next season. Joy
Alex, I ended up loving you the most (along with Bethenny). Alex, you are so refined, elegant, articulate, and quietly explode with class. (not knocking Bethenny. LuAnne, or Jill: Love them also). Fortunately, I see a lot of my husband in Simon. But those red pants have to go; ironically, I threw out my husbands red sweat pants a few years ago because it was a funny thing in our circle. But fashion is an extension of one's own opinion and you can't please all the people all the time... Anyway, you are genuine, beautiful, a great mom. Love you, your family the hell with those cast members who breed evil and insecurity (Kelly and Ramona only). Don't change. Your marriage is what everyone wants.
I am sittinh here watching the reunion and it came to me you said that you've taught your boys to not say rude things and I realized through all of the hurtful comments and things that have been done to u and simon I can't remember a cruel or hurtful thing coming out of either of your mouths. There is really something to be said for that, that is true character. Bravo for being above what we found so easy to do...
Alex, you’re a great writer! Everything you compose, whether here, or on the Huffington Post is always precise, well laid out, flows smoothly, and is fun and ‘right on. I admire that, and continue to search out everything I can find that you write. I enjoy your honesty, your relaxed way of looking at things, and I think you have a really wonderful sense of honor and priorities.
We here in Hawaii say Mahalo. YOU GO GIRL………
Dear Alex and Simon...........
I absolutely adore both of you. Besides Bethenny, you two are the reason I watch the sgow.
Alex - you are smart, kind, level headed and a pleasure to watch. I was so angry last season when you were criticized. You are your own woman and totally real.
Simon - god bless you. You are a devoted family man and my better half could take some lessons from you.
Best wishes to the two of you and I cannot wait til next seaon. Take care!!!!!!!!!
I think you are the best housewife by far! I admit I didn't care for you and Simon in the first season, but in true Tortoise-and-the-Hare fashion, you have demonstrated that you are THE real housewife with class and character! Plus, your blog indicates you are the only true writer/journalist of the bunch. Lots of luck, Alex!!!!
Hi Alex:::I have to admit, when the show first aired, I couldn't stand to watch you and your husband, but as time goes on, you have become, aside from Betheny my favorites to watch.
You seem to be a good person inside and always balance out the crazy thing's that is said to you and your husband. As always, I love your style, you are always beautiful and classy.
Look forward to the re-union and to the next season.
Alex, I am so sad that the season is over. I am originally from New York and lived in Manhattan for many years. I started watching so that I could enjoy New York places and events. I lived in Brooklyn for a few years and it is great. I just had to write a note and say that I love watching the episodes with you and Simon. Despite any criticism that you may have received, you two are so great together.
Your children are beautiful, and you two are terrific.
I've said it before and I'll say it again-Alex is my most favorite. She is truly classy and I would love to know her. She's a great listener and I can tell she would be a great friend. See you all next season. Love the show.
I have never responded to a blog before, but felt I needed to. Your show is my guilty pleasure. Last season, I did not care for you and Simon. This season, I watched because of you. While Bethanny and Jill seem to define a new yorker (and I love it!), you and Simon define sanity. I think more people actually relate to you more than want to admit. I will have to say that your boys are out of control at times, but again, I can relate because I too am a mom to boys and they are a different breed!
Despite his odd sense of style, your husband seems to be a wonderful father and husband. You are blessed by the love he shows.
Good luck in the future.
Alex, you and Simon were rat this season. Everyone else seems to have lost their mind. Well, not everyone just Ramona. What is wrong with that lady. She is not a happy lady! Her intent was mean and to be hurtful and to create problems. Bethany is great! I wish you so much success.. LuAnn or may I say the Countess. You have been also fun to watch. I enjoy watching you and your time with your daughter. Jill you are so much fun to watch and your husband is awesome. He seems to be a very sweet and loving person. I especially like how he asked you as a gentlemen if he should say something to Mario. Mario is a moron, he is the one seeking his 5 minutes of fame. Him and Ramona need therapy...Well, that is all for now. I hope you all come back. Oh, I almost forgot Kelly..She is in the show also..I'm sorry I forgot you. You see I'm up here and you are down there so I couldn't see you. bye
Dear Alex and Simon: I just think both of you are precious. I told my husband he needed to watch, because you and Simon are so incredibly nice to EVERYONE. You listen, you reach out, you measure your comments carefully, you are dignified and I just love to hear both of speak, especially when debating a topic. I love also the control in your life, meaning the preciseness (is that a word?)of your actions. I find it reassuring and calming to watch. Take care! Hope to see more of you next seasion! All the best!
Alex, I honestly changed my opinion about you and your husband-but in a good way. Last season, I thought, that both of you are trying so hard to be noticed. This season, you earned my respect!!!!!!!! I see now, that you are the only couple on the show, that actually -“ Real House Wife”. You work full time, have two kids and at the same time trying to be on the show... The only thing I would recommend to you, is to teach your little ones to behave better in public. Over all, I wish you well in future.
You and Simon are such good sports.. and so patient. You didn't show anger at the negatives and you didn't attack anyone or ridicule. The two of you do your own thing, as you are smart enough to see through the superficial lives of the rest. You are both confident in your ways and your family life and stick together to support each other. Keep being yourselves.. forget the outside (clothes, money, keeping up with the NYC social scene), and just continue to look and be yourselves.. Your kids will grow up in a heartbeat and then, you can spend the money on parties, clothes, art, whatever... In the end, who cares who has the "most toys"????
Alex & Simon, Loved you both this season. Much more than I did last season. Your love and adoration for each other is inspiring. It's so interesting to see how well that you two get along and make family your priority. Simon took a beating this year but he doesn't let any of that b-s to heart and rises above the cattiness that especially Ramona dishes out. Your renovation turned out incredible and showed both of your quirky style but in a classy and retro way. Way to go. Hope you're enjoying your new digs. Good job staying above the drama this year, Alex. You're a class act!
Hi Alex! I've enjoyed watching you and your family these past two seasons. I enjoy the relationship you and Simon have and all the sweet things he says. Just one little idea.It is time to start teaching your sons how to behave in public. I know that they are small boys but if you are going to bring them to the places they go they need to behave.Good manners are as important as French lessons and they should be learned at an early age too.
I liked you both last season, because I thought you both really loved each other and were a union. You WERE arrivistes, but that's your thing. I felt that even though I liked you, if I were on the street at an art fair and bumped into you, you'd look down on me or people like me. Since that's not likely to happen...
I like you as characters again this season. Behind all the folderol, you two have healthy personalities and breezy but respectful outlooks.
But don't write a self-help parenting book! Try: "Here's a collection of Francois and Johann stories, what we learned and appreciate, and can't you just relate to this?"
I just wanted to say that watching the show that Alex carried herself in the best way. She wasn't petty despite others trying to bring her and her husband down and I appreciated that. Alex is the closest to being the person that I would consider a good friend.
I think the logo you made for Bethenny is much better than the one she ended up choosing. Also, I think you and Simon are the most mature people on the show, behaviorally speaking: you rose above the pettiness of the others, didn't let their insults bother you and lived your life for yourselves, not others. Your relationship with Simon is amazing and something others should aspire to: you allow each other be who you really are, are very loving and respectful of each other and it's obvious that you two truly enjoy each other's company. What else? Oh, your blogs are very witty, like Bethenny's, but much nicer. Thanks for not turning them into infomercials like all the others have done.
You and Simon were great this season, your family has so grown on me. Simon is now one of my favorites, last year, perhaps with the editing, he made my skin crawl. But ya'll were great, especially you, you never get trashy like some of them, and I wish I had a crazy husband who loved me like Simon loves you. Bravo.
You and your husband have become my favorites. Class, great love for each other and your life. Can't wait til next season.
I find it very nice to see that you and Simon get along so well. I think you guys have a wonderful bond. I understand your marriage and I think it's great. Don't mind Ramona or anyone else who thinks otherwise. You and Simon are unique and I truely admire that.
Alex , I think you are so awesome, I just love how confident you are and how you just keep smiling through the fray with your simon and your lovely misbehaving children smile............. Dont let the haters (Ramona) get to you you are way above her in every way, and you are skinnier Ha Habhtersav
Alex, I don't think you give a rats a$$ what any of the other housewives think of you and Simon. And that is why you're my favorite. You guys seem to be very happy doing what you do. I thought it was funny the way Kelly questioned the location of your flat in proximity to NYC! She was doing to you what Louann did to her when she came out to visit her flat for the luncheon with her kids and the young chef! The other housewives complained you and Simon were pretentious, but I think it was the pot calling the kettle black! Hope you're both back next season
Alex, I really enjoy you and Simon, he is so attentive to you. I like the way he goes shopping with you, and knows what will look good on you. Kelly and Romona are such phony's, they both need to come down a few feet, they are suffering from the Me, Me, Me. syndrome. love what you did to your home.
Alex, after two years, you and Simon have come out as my two very favorite people on the show. You are the only two who never show a mean spirited moment.
Simon just plain has heart. Accepting the tennis invitation, whilst sick, without hesitation shows the standup guy that he is. And no, I dont believe that he in anyway played to be the center of attention. He did that out of the goodness of his heart.
Also, Alex, please never, EVER, feel like you should apologize for putting your family and career above the duties of a charitable event. Everyone has priorities and your family should always be first and foremost. I had five children myself, and still found myself never turning down membership to the medical auxilary, being on a committee etc. HUGE mistake. I'm a people pleaser and hated to say "no". I am also extremely prompt and diligent in every activity I attach myself to so I tried to complete everything with excellence. If I had it to do over, I would definitely wait until all the children were in college before volunteering my time. You should carefully weigh all the requests that you receive, be sure that you have the time and that it can be done without sacrificing one moment of time with either Simon or your boys. Your friends played the guilt card on you and that was unfair. Next time you may have to decline their offer just to keep some normalcy in your life.
I just adored the hug you and Simon had when he gave you your flowers. It was warm and genuine and your love for each other shined through. You are a very fortunate couple. All the best.
Alex & Simon: You two never creeped me out. I always thought you were both just doing your own thing and visiting the other girls when invited. I applaud Simon's efforts to do anything asked of him this season, from tennis to dancing with Ramona on the final show. I think you're a great team and enjoy your kids as well. I just think Simon and you know the difference between personal and professional and you keep each in its place. Have a great Summer!
Alex, I think that you are one of the classiest women on the show! You never have an unkind word to say about anyone! I love the fact that you and Simon do everything together. It is obvious that you are both truly happy. If anyone has anything unkind to say about the two of you, I honestly believe that they are just envious of your confidence, beauty, kindness, happiness, talent, and zest for life!!! Your remodel was absolutely fantastic. I loved everything about it. Simon has got to be one of the sweetest guys I have ever seen. There are not many men in this world that can be spoken to with such disrespect(as he was on the show), and hold no grudge. Forgiveness is such an under rated attribute. I wish the very best for your whole family!
I want your staying thin tips as well as Bethenny's. Can't believe you've had two children. WOW. Love you and the gentle Pisces Simon.
Alex, from the beginning I have liked you and Simon. You are wonderful together and it is so refreshing to see a couple in love who respect each other too. I think you are the level headed one of the housewives who doesn't offend like someone we know. Ramona drives me nuts! She thinks she is so hot, if she could only see what a fool she makes out of her self half the time. Basically, she is insecure. Anyway, I LOVE YOU TWO and can't wait for next season. I am not liken Kelly either just for the record. SHE IS A PHONY!
Alex and Simon,
You are good people. It is nothing wrong liking fashion and wanting to be better.
For all the viewers that are mean to you, WHO CARES. I don't care for Ramona but I like her better than that mean spirit and malicious Bethany.
Don't you forget it You and Simon are awesome. (:
(Apparently I was typing a novelette as I went over the limit in an over-explanation of the absurdity of my posting here, being drained on social politics in various formats.)
The things which I envy are the things most familiar to me and somewhat distant from me now, which draws me to commenting here rather than elsewhere.
... hopefully the translation won't take it the wrong way, but the flaws sparkle with more worth than the polish shine the camera intends to show or the drama that it sometimes creates both behind and in front, for all the things this unscripted soap opera was meant to be.
The flaws which are only named by the criticism that appears more suited for the colosseum of Nero, though touched all of the cast. Yet undoubtedly, as I suppose it should for the risks we take in making ourselves or our opinions known.
But I rather found the story of your family charming. Down to earth while still being able to touch the clouds ... with seemingly little hestitation and walking your path as it crosses so many others, and leaning into the obstacles that you'll likely survive another season, for the better or worse of what that brings.
Just for irrelevant opinion.... I'd rather think the story that would sell is one of family... of the relationship both you and your husband share, that which extends onto your children and how this translates into the family you both have created in a celebration of style and fashion, of friendship and love, of patience in learning, of living in the moment while still looking to the future and the negotiations of peer pressure which doesn't disappear in our teen years. But maybe that's for a sequel.
If life in the surreal world gets too much, I found Anti-Œdipus (1972) by Deleuze and Guattari to be helpful, to be adapted to the constructs of your own situation, of course.
Your favorite moments that did not air sound wonderful. Bravo should bring them to the bonus clips ASAP!!
Alex, I have grown to just adore you and Simon. You always handle youself with the utmost of class no matter what the situation.I find you both to be so articulate and seem to be genuinely nice people.I do think Ra-meana is very childish and the fact that you and Simon continue to be so nice to her amazes me-my hat's off to you both for that.I love the renovation and yes-the Alice print is way cool!Continue to be true to yourselves and I do hope you and your family have a great summer.I look forward to the reunion show as well as next season!
I was out of the country for 2 weeks and haven't seen the last two episodes. But, I read your blog and all of the comments are so positive. I think that's great that you and Simon shined this season. I think you were both a bit more savvy this season about the cameras and what they were catching. Season 2 showed a different side of you more clearly.
Where is Simon's blog? I can't wait to read it. You two are the most articulate of the bunch.
GL on the reunion show.
lots of air time has been spent about you and simon writing a parenting book. i had an idea this morning and i am not sure if it has been done before ... pick a place and a historical time and a child's age and develop a book about what a child's life would be like during that time. perhaps you could include craft projects for making simple toys/outfits/whatever. perhaps write it in the language of the time/place. (include a translation for parents to use :) just a thought. ps ~ i really hate snakes :)
I would love to spend an afternoon with you. A cup of coffee, glass of wine, perhaps tea. What I'm after is an upclose and personal to see if these internet dating sites really do pair you with your exact self in the opposite gender. Also, why you kept taking the abuse from the band of high school bullies is beyond me, especially Ramona. However, she voiced her opinions, rude and hurtful as they were, to your face and not behind your back. The world you and Simon see is not view the rest of us have, but it's your view so skip through life believeing someone really cares what you do or wear. Kelly would be the obvious choice for a lasting pal based on her utter delusionary skills . Conversation is not her strong suit and it may take her days to find her way to Brooklyn, but you can empathize, commiserate and talk fashion. Compared to the others, and I can't believe I'm saying this, you're the most down to Earth. Can't wait for the "Reunion". Till next week..It's Francesca!
