On April 29th The Real Housewives of OC cast is helping Sir Richard Branson launch Virgin Airlines, OC to San Francisco! It sounds like a great event and we are so excited to meet royalty! The closest I have ever been to royalty was meeting the President of Botswana in Africa, and of course Princess Lauri Peterson!
Shane Keough has joined the Stockton Port’s high A minor league ball and will be playing in Bakersfield Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If anyone is in the area, give him a shout. He is playing well and getting some hits. He has made some great catches in the outfield and I love listening to his games on the MILB website. There are no 4-star hotels in Bakersfield - what’s up with that!? The back seat of my car looks better then the accommodations there!
Losing weight makes you so much more aware of what you are putting in your mouth. My Duzoxin has cut my appetite - I feel great and have tons of energy. I went to Houston for an Amerisciences conference this week, great fun and learned a lot about nutrition. My dad is legally blind, and I am interested in learning how to prevent these health issues for my own well-being. Macular degeneration, I guess I have a bigger chance of getting it if it is in my genes.
Jeana,
I love how your blog is so positive and conversational. Just as if we were chatting like old friends. I am glad to hear your children are doing well since as a Mom myself, I know the best happiness a Mom can have is to see her kids happy, healthy and thriving :o) Congrats on the weight loss, you looked fabulous at the A-List Awards. I don't watch a lot of reality TV but I do like the Housewives (OC and NYC) and I think of you as the one I would most want to have lunch (and maybe go shopping) with! Have a great summer!
Jeana,
Why do you refer to Gretchen' negative press and her "ex stalker friend" when on the reunion show you acknowledge that his clothes were on the floor.
Us viewers are sick of being lied to. The truth needs to be told. Maybe if we were told the truth we wouldnt have to revert to the press
Suzanne
College pictures ? Gretchen's pictures in the press are not from college. They are from last year. One picture where her ex-boyfriend is cramming his tongue down her throat Gretchen is wearing the exact same dress she wore to Fred Segal. Bravo Stop Lying to us !!!!!!!!!!!
I laughed so hard when I read the part about bakersfield. Its soo true! I'm from Sacramento, Ca and my older brother in high school, got his girlfriend Pregnant. My mom nearly died when she found out, but the worst of it was that the girls family is extremely religious and they threatened my brother and my mom, that if my mom didn't sign permission for him to marry her at 17 none of us will ever see the child ever! My mom completely caved, which she really shouldn't have. but My brother ended up moving down to bakersfield to live with her grandparents, because her grandfather has a carpentry business and he gave my brother a job. Everytime We drove the 5 hours down there, I thought I was gonna die. When you first drive in there is the smell in the air. My brother says its from the Garlic fields..or something like that. Just completely awful. The whole town is just dusty and dirty. Probably the worst place to live! The Moral I learned from this story from becoming an aunt at 13, was I'm never having children until I'm married and in love and have been married for a least a couple years. My brother ended up divorcing her, she went all crazy and abandoned the child with us. So, I would come home from high school and have to watch my 2 year old nephew from the time I got home until 2 in the morning, so my brother and mom could work. I was pretty much raising him at 15 years old. It was hard and when I think of Bakersfield I think of that. Always.
J- enjoyed your blog. I attend Lakewood and sorry I missed you. I'm sure the "look" was just a feeling...we specialize in love not judging. Love you, congrats on the weight lose and best wishes to you kids and there success in all they do!
Kim from Houston
Jeana you remind me of Jill from Housewives NY. She also seems like a genuine kind person, something more than just a body with nice clothes. I really like watching both of you, God knows what the show would be like without your calming personality. Best wishes to you.
Jeana--you have always been one of my favorite housewives. I was, however, blown away by some of your comments in this blog. "The girls seem to be getting along better and I really like that-women picking at each other bugs me. I love the closeness and caring the OC girls have for each other." So many of you are cattier than the Broadway play that I laughed out loud when I read those words. Maybe you should watch your reruns--you pick each other to pieces!!!!!!!
Jeanna,
If you like Joel Osteen and Rick Warren, you will love Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest. He does the Harvest Crusades at the Big A every summer and other states. He is church is not local, but he started a bible study on Thursday nights in Irvine, one block of of Jamboree. Please stop by and check it out. I can't decide whom I like better the OC housewives or NY housewives.
Jeana,
Your blog was great! It so silly to be petty! Glad all your children are doing well. I just discovered Beth Moore's work for Bible Study. She is terrific, you may like her work!
WOW Stockton is in my neck of the woods. I'll have to root for Shane next time we go to a Ports game.
Thanks for being such a sweetheart Jeana!
Hi Jeana, I enjoy you on RHWOC as you seem to be the most stable and level headed of the women. However, your comment tonight that you enjoy the closeness of the OC housewives seems a bit odd. Seriously? They are close? They seem close to killing each other. Last season there was so much cattiness, backstabbing, rude comments, etc! I am not saying you were that way, but others definately were. It doesn't seem the wives are close at all (and if that is what is considered close - no thank you, I'd rather not be a friend of theirs). I seriously hope some of the wives who were so mean and petty last year get a grip or I won't be able to endure another season of watching how badly they treat each other.
"The (NYC) girls seem to be getting along better and I really like that - women picking at each other bugs me. I love the closeness and caring the OC girls have for each other."
Jeana--ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Did you watch the last season of OC?? You call Vicki and Tamara supportive of Gretchen?? And how about Vicki's treatment of the new housewife (can't think of her name)? Come on . . . get with reality!
Hello Jeana. Thanks for the blog you wrote, as much as I enjoy you on the OC, and I prettymuch like all the wives, this blog you wrote was really good. You share more down to earth things.
I can't wait to see you, as you looked wonderful at the end of last season. I have a hard time with weight and I'm going to research the Duzoxin, and the Tozal. I do have the macular degeneration, so maybe that will help.
Anyway your blog was really positive and informative. It's a shame about those boys. Everyone needs to slow down, and put the cells down. Glad too to hear your kids are doing good. Take care, be well
Patty B Newport, DE
Jeana, I love your positive attitude - you are my favorite OC housewife. But to claim that all of you in the OC get along and you don't like the bickering of the NYC ladies??? Please. Your group is like a mean sorority. Don't believe me? Just ask Gretchen and Tamra. And Vickie, she's gotten a lot meaner as the seasons go on.
I don't know what show you were on last year but the wives from OC are anything but close. There was so much backstabbing going on that I could hardly watch the show for all the blood.
Tamara and Vicky treated Lynn and Gretchen horribly. So please don't embarass yourself by saying how close and how well all of the OC wives get along. Because if that is friendship, leave me out.
Jeanna, I am a big fan and I think you are the best housewife in the OC. Kara seems like a wonderful young lady and she's lucky to have you for her mother.
However, I don't understand how it is you think the OC cast was less catty than the NY cast. Did you watch the last season of the OC? The way Vicki and Tamra treated Gretchen and Lynn (and sometimes you) was beyond anything I've seen happen in NY (except maybe Kelly's "I'm up here, you're down here" tirade).
Here's hoping they all realize how ridiculous it all is and support each other better in the future.
Hi Jeana,
I loved you on OC but we're talking about NYC. Why do you constantly give us updates on OC? And what are you talking about...the OC ladies didn't get along at all. Tamra and Grethcen and let's not mention Vicki, stayed in some sort of confrontation. In fact you and Lynn were the only ones who acted mature and were pleasant. I enjoy the updates every once in a while but it seems your focus should be NYC. Your season will be back soon-hopefully!!!
Jeana, you continuously prove to be the classiest of the housewives with your positive encouragement and lack of competitive peer pressure, that is all too sadly often associated with women. Thanks for being an uplift amongst the other catty behavior!
Jeana, Jeana, Jeana....just saw a recent photo...Wow! You are always classy and beautiful but now you look gorgeous, classy and toned...just fabulous! The best thing about you is your positive vibe and attitude. It always comes through and shows that your inner beauty matches your outer. Kudos to you!
Jeana, You are spot on regarding health insurance. Even a healthy young man can be become ill or suffer a traumatic injury. Ryan is a grown man (remember his girlfriend was pregnant)and needs to take responsibility for his health care not his mother. Does this bring up the topic of affordable health care for all.
Haha, Bakersfield is still a very small city!! Eventually there will probably be larger hotels and stuff there but take it from someone who lived there for twenty years...it's nice to visit but not to stay! lol
You talk about how you are happy to see the NY Girls getting along as well as the OC girls. Are you serious? Do you think we have terrible memories? The thing about the NY Housewives is that they tend to say things right to one another's faces. OC housewives...it's all behind the scenes and behind the backs.
As always, you're a classy lady Jeanna! It was your ability to centrally tie together the entire cast of the OC that got me hooked on it. Your down to Earth relity is refreshing, and I love how your blog focuses not only on the show but on much less gossipy tid bits as well.
Keep up the good work, enjoy the down time, and I can't wait to see the next season!
Okay, did you watch a different show of the OC then what we did? "I love the closeness and caring the OC girls have for each other." Um, where was that last season?? We saw Vicki and Tamra pick on and be rude to Gretchen and Lynne all season. Did you miss the part where Vicki was in your face saying "you just don't get it?"
Did you watch your reunion show?? Didn't look all warm and fuzzy from this view!
I don't see the NYC ladies trying to be anything like the OC ladies which is good b/c if all of you girls are trying to be alike then what's the point of having all of these different seasons??
Jeana: Thanks for writing this insightful blog, I agree women picking on each other does NOT make good television.
Jeana, I think you are great, but how can you say the O.C. wives are supportive of their colleagues? This past season the show welcomed 2 new wives who were basically snubbed, sneered and mocked. You were the only one who reached out to them. Although I love the show, at times it felt like I was watching a bad production of the movie Mean Girls
Jeana, I usually love to see what you have to say, but your comment about parents providing insurance for their adult children really makes me angry. Maybe in the OC things are different, but throughout the rest of the country working people struggle every day to provide for their families' basic needs, and if they could provide insurance for their grown children they would. Hard-working people across this country are losing jobs, and in turn losing insurance, many times through no fault of their own and that is something that they can't control. To insinuate that you are a bad parent for not paying for your grown child's insurance is just wrong. When I graduated college I knew that I would have no insurance until I found a job that provided some and that meant that I went almost 3 years without. Everyone in this country has a right to be insured, no matter the situation.
Jeana,
I really like you and the positive messages you send. I'm insulted about your harsh words against Bakersfield. I am a Bakersfield native currently living in Marin County and much prefer Bakersfield over Marin. There are several nice hotels in Bakersfield. Your note about Victoria Osteens' message about clothes and digging deeper inside could also relate to hotels, cars, jewelry. It not about what's on the outside and being "showy" it's about what's on the inside that matters.
Linda
Jeana: I watch Joel Osteen every week and absolutely love his messages. As you said, they are always so positive and uplifting. I would absolutely love to attend one of his church services.
My heart goes out to the families that lost their sons.
I just admire and love you Jeana. You speak from the heart and don't meddle in nonsense. You're awesome!
Jeana rocks socks!! My fave on the REAL housewives! Even my hubby adores you, so pos., friendly and downright believable.
I have been following the Stockton Ports. My son is a big fan of Pitcher Justin Friend. Any plans to come watch your son play in Stockton? He has been hittiing pretty well lately.
I LOVE that you're still blogging and I ALWAYS read your blog when I see it...
You're amazing and there are so many people that love you !!!
jeana...so excited you were here in houston & @ lakewood - we watch joel every week...such an inspiration. hope to see you during the broadcast...you know when they pan the audience! thxs for sticking up for gretchen...have felt so bad for her w/those pics. so looking forward to next season - oc will always be the best & definitely my fav.
Jeana, I love your positive outlook and you really are my favorite housewife, but honestly, isn't it time for Shane to grow up and get a real job? If he was going to make it in baseball I think the publicity you've given him would have called attention to him from the majors. I really wish that he had made it for your sake, but it's time to quit supporting an unrealistic dream and start supporting himself.
Actually it doesn't seem as if the OC wives are supportive of one another. All of the housewife shows exhibit some level cattyness and backbiting. I think that the charity work done by the NYC housewives has rubbed off on the usually self-absorbed OC gang.
love you, Jeana. Would love to see a full shot of you now. Please get us one so we can enjoy your success with you!

I'm not sure these days but I was hoping meeting Sir Richard Branson and royalty was a joke.
