Healthy And Smiling

A new addition to the family helps start a busy summer!

June 3, 2008

I have the most wonderful news. Bobby and I are grandparents to a beautiful baby boy. You can see his picture at jillzarin.com. Bobby's oldest son and his wife brought him to us May 14. It was out of a movie that night. We were at a black tie event when the call came that he was almost here. We rushed to Mount Sinai, Marc Bauer gown and all, and sat in the waiting room. He arrived healthy and smiling. We are trying to decide what he should call us. Any good ideas? LuAnn told Bobby he should be called Grandfather. It sounds a little weird but maybe that will stick. I think we should let him decide.

JILL YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR GRANDCHILDREN TO ADDRESS YOU AS, HOWEVER, THEY FOR SURE NO DOUBT CALL YOU BY WHAT THEY WANT. WITH MY HUSBAND, WE TRIED PAPA BUT SHE HAD BETTER IDEAS HERSELF.... HE WAS IN THE GROCERY STORE AFTER WORK, AND KEPT HEARIG A LITTLE GIRL SAYING PEE-PAW ALMOST YELLING IT. AND FINALLY SHE SAID PEE-PAW IT IS ME ALYSSA. AND HE TURNED AROUND AND SHE AND HER DADDY WERE BEHIND HIM IN THE GROCERY STORE. CUTE NAME SHE CAME UP WITH TO CALL HER PEE-PAW. WITH ME SHE CALLS ME MAMA, SHE WAS ALWAYS CALLING ME MOM NO MATTER WHAT AND THEN ONE DAY SHE STARTED CALLING ME MAMA, THE REST OF OUR GRANDCHILDREN CALL HIM PAPA AND THEY CALL ME GRAMMY. SO THIS LITTLE ONE WILL CHOOSE FOR HIMSELF WHAT HE DEEMS IS FULFILLING TO HIM. BEST WISHES TO YOU AND YOUR AMILY. AND I AM GLAD BOBBY IS CANCER FREE. I AM A CANCER SURVIVOR MYSELF. LOTS OF PRAYERS ARE COMING YOUR WAY.

Love you guys! Ally too! Please dear God!Stay real,we love your outspoken and honest remarks! You and Bethany are so unlike all the other" Housewives" on Bravo, not snotty, just real and down to earth! we love it! I am extremely envious of your relationship with your mom, I was adopted, and missed out on such a close Family bond, cherish your closeness, as I know you do! P.s. we need an orange silk , checked fabric, maybe we can order from Zarin Fabrics! God Bless!
by the way, Bethany had your back in Mn.!

Hi Jill. I started wathing your show a couple months ago and quickly got hooked. There is never a dull moment; I even like watching the reruns. You and Bethenny are definitely my favorites with Luann coming in third. You are so warmhearted and giving yet you speak your mind, which I love. And, let me tell you, you have nothing to feel guilty about just because you are living comfortably. Those that try to make you feel like that are just jealous. You will make a wonderful bubbie. Congratulations to you and Bobby.

Jill, please, please do not do with Luann's advise to have
your new grandchild call Bobby, grandfather. Luann is
so old school to the point she is just boring. Come on.
We live in the real world and it's very acceptable to have
fun with kids names these days. Luann is so pompous and
condescending. If I book her book, it would be used as
very expensive toilet paper. I think Pop-pop is cute for
Booby and Grammie for you and Gram-gram for Gloria. There
that takes care of everyone. I love Gloria and since I
lost my grandmother several years ago, would love for her
to adopt me as well. There is a special bond between
grandchildren and grandparents. I would love to send her
a card someday. Her appearance on the show was so heart
felt that I cry everytime I view it again. You summed it
up right. " SHE IS THE BEST". Love to you all.

Congratulations Jill and to all of your family on the addition to your family. I would suggest naming him Daniel, because I believe we are truly blessed when we are given a baby to continue the family heritage. What a lucky baby he is, to have such a young and beautiful and loving grandmother and grandfather, and to also have the gift of knowing his great grandparents and having so many people to love him, how could that baby come out anything but confident, caring and a joy. I wish similar happiness for Bethenny because i can feel her pain and the lonliness of of being in this world without parent's. She has been given other things to help to enrich her life, even though i dont know her we tend to draw close to people who have similar heart's. Please let me know if you need a Personnel Assistant, with 23 years of business exp. i still know that I could learn a lot from you, as well as offering a lot of the detail work you may need.
No matter what, I wish you so much success and best wishes , 2009 is a wonderful year for your family!

JIll, I'm late to posting, love the show, but most of all you, Bettenny and Bobby.

Just a quick note on names for you and Bobby: we've found that the first grandchild usually picks the name for you and it comes from their hearing your name being said back and forth. My Dad's name is also Bobby/Bob. First grandchild started calling him "Bompa". We loved it. My Mother had an unusual name, and the baby picked up on the last syllable and that was it, so it's not going to help in this situation but I do think you'll find they will come up with a unique variation of your name if you want to just let it ride.

I really don't see formal Grandmother or Grandfather for either of you. Roll with the flow!

Jill,

GRANNY and PAPA! Those are the best of all grand names.

Only one name will do.......GrammyJill!

Jill,
Hi. Sometime this past year, I got "hooked" on Housewives. It is similar to moving to a new town and suddenly being in the middle of new girlfriends, or as my friend calls it, "sistas". Some of the women annoy me and some I wish I knew personally. I love your honesty and despite your obvious wealth and social standing, you seem so down to earth and seem to be so grounded. I have nothing "important" to say other than I wish you the best. For all of your charity work, I wish you the wonderful Karma that you should get in return because your heart seems to be sincerely there in terms of helping others less fortunate. Take good care.
Sincerely,
Arlene from Long Island

Congratulations to you and Bobby! Grandchildren are our rewards from God!

I think Barbara G's suggestion is cute - Lolli & Pop. As an only child & grandchild (can you smell the "spoil" on me? LOL!), let me share my personal grandparent naming story. My dad's mother is Grandmother Tuta although her name was Gladys. This came about because my dad and my grandmother's youngest sister are only 11 mos apart. When my dad was a toddler he heard my Grandmother's sister call her "sister" but he couldn't say it, so it came out "Tuta". Every since then he called her Tuta instead of mom and that stuck. So, when I came along I called my grandmothers, Grandmother and added their first names. Grandmother Tuta and Grandmother Louese. However, my Grandmother Louese said that I would go to the back of her house and call to her "Grandmother Louese Mills" - too funny! And my grandfather was Paw-Paw. I don't have much love for Luann (Countless), so I wouldn't put much stock in her opinion on Bobby's grandpa name. CONGRATS on your new addition!!! Love watching you & the others!

Jill, love the show, love you, love Bethenny (alone or together with you...brwahhhh). So much has been said, but I want to add that you and Bethenny add an approach that not only allows us to see as much of the real us as possible, but you also bring us along for the ride, almost as co-conspirators, lol. There's entirely too much seriously in this world already (exceptions charities-that are't ripped off by Kelamenties...cheap shot).
One last note, Wonderful news on the new grandson! It iw true, they will come up with names themselves in the most unusual manner: My father's name was Bobby, and the first grandchild suddenly one day said "Bompa".That was it for all that entered the clan henceforth. MY mother received her's due to the baby always being at the breakfast table with Mom and Dad early morning and hearing Dad call her by her real name as they read a variety of newspapers: the baby misunderstood her name, took one half of the consenents and thus Reen was born. Soon, all her friend started calling her that, and my father most of all, "Reenie". What stories we all have inside to tell that we think are nothing...Again enjoy that baby,as I know you all will, and I'm really happy that it seems Allies arthritis is under control.

congratulations on becoming grandparents.i can't wait until i am a grandmother.i have a ways to go though.i always loved to just call mine grandma and grandpa.it might sound old,but that shouldn't matter.your both still young.the important thing is that your grandparents.that is so special.

Hi Jill,

Congratulations! I have the distinct privilege of being grandmother to 5 beautiful children. My crew calls me MIMI.

Jill, I just started watching Bravo the end of last year when I was very ill. I LOVE it!!!!
You look fantastic and have lost inches, pounds, whatever it is, you look the best!!!! Please share your secret so that the rest of us can only attempt to look 1/2 as good!
Blessings to you and your family.

We love you and you are a very kind person. Use your kindness and get Brad dancing lessons. But you look fab. and are so funny. Don't take Bethany's immitation of you as anything other than a compliment. She is funny and so are you. That is why you are such close friends and normal. You have a loving family as we can see how Bobby adores you and loves you to death. You have such a great relationship with your daughter who is a beautiful, smart girl. I hope that in years to come, I continue to have the same relationship with my daughter that you and Ali have. My daughter is only 7 years old and adopted from China, but we are so close. I would never put her in boarding school and viewers can see you are the same way. Thankfully you and Bethany are the only real women on a reality show. Our entire family loves you, please never change.

Jill, you have such a big heart! You really try to be a good friend to everyone and share in your good fortune. I admire you very much.

Jill,
I am your fan. You are transparent and real. I would love to have you as a friend. You are also a great mother and I would love to be like you. thanks for being in the show, you are great!!!!

Jill I just love your enthusiasm and sense of humor!
I'd love to spend the day with you. You are a real women, mother and friend to those oher crazy women.

I think Bobby would be a great "Papa", thats what we Italians call our grandfather. Its much less harse than Grandfather and calls to attention that he is actually this little bundle of joys' "advanced" father!! Also Jill, you have the most amazing skin, I wish you would post what your skincare is. Hey...tell Luanne to get the stick out of her butt!!

To the viewer that made reference to you and Bethenny as a comedy team. That is extremely finny to me, I was thinking that as well. You two ladies should have a comedy series. Like a Seinfeld, and just be yourselves. That is probably why the "real housewives" do so well. It's like a sitcom but it is not scripted. Is it? I didn't think so. ~~V

Jill, I am so very happy to know you are a happy new granny. Please don't be offended, being a granny is a privilege. Is this your step-grandbaby? I have a question? Will your fans get to meet your stepson and yours and Mr. Zarin's grandbaby? I think it would make for a fabulous episode if we could see you and your kids visit your new grandbaby. On another note, how is your daughter doing with her medical situation, was that some form of arthritis she had? Well, she looks wonderful and very happy.
Lastly, Bethenny did a wonderful job with her "Jill Zarin" impression. You have every right to feel complimented. Not flattered because flattery is insincere, Bethenny obviously loves you. She has the biggest heart and most wonderful aura, so do the rest of the NYC ladies. I think Ramona is cute as a button too, but she is too quick to judge people when she should not. I understand, all of us are guilty of judging at one point or other but if I had the fabulous and fortunate life she does, I would wake every morning and extend blessings not disparage anyone. I once had a fabulous life and now I have to struggle to keep my grades up in college. I am a 38 year old, twice divorced woman, who lives back at home and cares for my sick mother. My father passed away 2 years ago and for the first time in my life I am finally attending college. I now have to build up my dreams all over again. I watch you ladies and am so inspired. I commend all of you and you happen to be a real inspiration for me. Your generous and charitable soul shines and don't every feel bad about being inquisitive. Being in the know is being in the now. People who want to be nosy read tabloids. I really don't see you reading to many starr magazines, do you? ~~Virginia E. Hiley

Jill I just love your enthusiasm and sense of humor!
I'd love to spend the day with you.
You are truly the most real of ALL the housewives!
You and Bethenny make a great female comedy team. :-)

Jill, you represent all the good things I remember about New Yorkers...upfront, funny, warm, and generous of spirit. I wasn't born in New York but spent a lot of childhood there. Watching you makes me homesick. You have nothing to apologize for! Your daughter seems so unspoiled and funny...obviously you are a great mom too.

You will love grandparenting. I have two grandsons and they are a real joy.

Congratulations sweetheart!! May I say You Look Fabulous! Did you lose weight? You look it versus last year, and I do not mean that in a bad way, you were still fab last year, You are More Fab this year with a Great Heart! You go girl. Again, congrats on the new member to your family, another baby for you to love. Angel

Congradulations on your new grandson, we have 3 grandchildren and I cannot tell what a blessing. As you get older and your children get older, lives are seperated into different roads, and grandchildren bring everything together. We are called Nona and Pappa, try it on, if the name fits, you'll know.

I just started watching your show in December 08. You and Betthany I like. Both of you are real. Without the money, my mother and I are alot like you and your daughter. Very close and she is always there for me, but let's me make wrong decisions just to make me grow. Thanks for making my early mornings with a cup of tea enjoyable. And as for the "Countess", I like her, until she got on Betthany (sp?) about how she should be introduced. She needs to get over it and just be herself. Keep up the good work Jill, congrats on the grandchild, I am known as Mimi and my husband is Papaw.

Jill and Bobby,

CONGRATULATIONS!

My husband Edward and I are grandparents to six beautiful children.

Olivia Grace, our second grand child, named us. I am MIMI and Edward is P-POP.

Sometimes, Edward is called: Pau-Pau.

I think the new grandson should call Jill Lolli and call Bobby Pop. Lolli & Pop!

A grandchild is amazing. We just became grandparents 5 months ago to Emma Grace. I'm having the time of my life with her.
We are Mimi and Poppy - cause I too am to old to be grandma, grandmother or eeegads granny.
Enjoy him - you will have the time of your life.

MAZAL TOV !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POST HIS HEBREW NAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
