I must say it was very interesting to see the various responses to my last blog. Many of you appreciated the humor, but I would like to address a couple of comments that I received from a number of people.
First is my comment about LuAnn’s impending divorce that was written about in the media. Some of you thought I was “mean spirited” or striking a “low blow." However, if some thought is given to this, LuAnn could actually help couples who are faced with what often becomes a very ugly experience. When married couples decide to end their relationship, they often resort to some insane behavior and not only accuse each other of horrible acts, but fight over some of the least important possessions that have been accumulated during their years of marriage. Driven by their attorneys, the accusations begin to fly, the feelings of their children are forgotten and civil behavior goes out the window. I think it would be very helpful for someone to address this issue and offer people a way of facing this difficult process with dignity and grace during a time when they are at their worst. I hope that if LuAnn does decide to write about her experience she will at least give me an acknowledgement for coming up with the idea.
Next is the question about my faith or lack thereof. I’m not sure what this has to do with a reality show, but the answer is yes, I am a Christian and member of the Catholic faith. I regularly attend church and when in Southampton I enjoy the 9:30AM children’s mass given by Father Jeff at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary. I love some of the responses that children give to his questions. The church is magnificent with amazing stained glass windows. My daughter Avery was baptized there and I hope that one day (not very soon) she will be married there as well. I strongly believe in the power of prayer no matter what faith one practices.
I love your blog this week, Mario! You're a great part of the series and like the way the men are involved this season. It is always interesting to see what the guys think!
wow merry-o. thanks for clearing up that you are not a chauvinist by listing a bunch of sexist jokes.
I gotta say I like your blog this week more than previous ones, however, I didn't buy your reason of attacking LuAnn last week about her divorce. It did not come out right last week and I don't think the lame reason can make you a better person. Try to be more respectful to other people and yes, be funny as that's what guys do best!
I have never blogged before but this blog was the BEST!!!! The "Men are just Happier" part is so true, sad but true and anyone being honest will admit it.
Hahah! Mario you are funny! You have been coming off crazy on the show, but we forgive you. Avery is the best, and obviously gets her charm from you!!!
Thanks Mario for this week's blog:) It was funny, thoughtful and real. I like you and Ramona and the rest of the cast except for Bethenny who seems angry, hurtful and two face.
Mario: Thanks for the chuckle. I think you are a good man and I enjoy your humor. The only other man I would want to be married to is Bobby, he has so much dough re me!!! heh heh
OK come on Mario - stop it already. Just be a man and own up to the fact that you made an inappropriate comment about Luann's divorce. Stop trying to dig yourself out of it with that ridiculously eloquent rebuttle.
Grow up. Although the Countess thoroughly annoys me with her holier than though attitude, your comment was clearly out of line. At first, I thought a 14 year old girl wrote that blog.....
Why do you hate Jill so much? Do you realize how petty you look every time you make reference to her in a negative light?
Thank you for writing a blog again this week. By the way, your joke at the end was very funny. Yes, there is someone that comes to mind, Jill, Jill, Jill! Lucky her. I just wanted to say you are so good looking, so is your wife, your child, hell even your dog is gorgeous. You have a beautiful home(s), a successful business, and a fabulous sports car, too. Personally, I think it's incredibly generous and thoughtful of you to even respond to negative comments made towards your blog. I love you on the show. Sure, I'm a red-blooded girl, so who can blame me, but honestly I just think you're great. I would really love to see that tennis match that never got televised as well. Any chance of that?
Good Blog! Don't ever listen to the haters. Your a good man with a great family. And here's a tip for you, keep your distance from Jill. She has a disconnect between her words and her actions. (Ex: She sensitive to the economy by only buying a $16,000 handbag. She needs a dress for a charity event and tries on a $300,000 gown. Insanity!) Loved, "Why men are happier".
Too late now to backtrack Mario. You meant the comment about LuAnne just as everyone took it. Mean, catty and petty. It was a very cruel comment and we all got it!
Mario, your comment on offspring is funny and true, but you have been a little catty like women can be.......
Love your writing style, Mario. It's very to-the-point and understandable. Also, I agree with many fans: you're definitely a very handsome man and a great husband.
Pls. keep blogging! Cheers :)
GO AWAY!!! Why do you and Simon think anyone cares about your opinion? Actually, I prefer Simon over you. You were much more enjoyable last season when you were seen but not heard. And your jealousy of Jill is nauseating.
"Natural: Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed."
oh mario, now i know why you had problems with silex-- you were into it all along...
Hey Mario . . . I think you, Ramona and Avery are great! Jill IS a horrid prima dona and I am shocked with the postive support she gets from the fans. To me, she rarely does anything nice for the sake of just doing it to be nice. She always has a hidden or not so hidden agenda of being lauded as a good person . . . nice friend . . . charity provider. Why not do something kind VERY quietly Jill??? With ZERO recognition and applause expected. She says she "tell it like it is" or "is honest" but what she fails to acknowledge is that this is all HER version of what the reality is. We ALL have our own version of what we see as the truth. She seems to think that her way . . . is the only way.
Mario I like you your a real man not afraid to speak his mind there should be more like you. kudos....
Wow - some of your 'humor' was really kind of sexist. Ouch. I actually thought mor ehighly of you before I read this. Think I'll be avoiding you blog.
I know your type. We'd be at each other's throats at any social gathering with everyone watching. Then we'd turn to our spouses, relieved that they are used to this competitive showiness and didnt give it a thought, and say: we should invite them to dinner. Say Whaaaaaat? I just love a good roiling debate.
your comments this week were very funny, especially about women going out to lunch...always happens.. they are never as casual as men when it comes to money.
It's a real problem when men think they are being "funny" when in fact, their humor is thinly disguised passive aggressive behavior.
Bravo Mario. I am laughing so hard. Don't be so hard on him. The truth is, he's correct on about 80% of those items.
We see a tiny little portion of what really goes on. On the other hand, our economy is in the tank and Jill is buying a 16,000 dollar purse, redecorating her apartment for an enormous amount of money and upset when she thinks her IPOD might not work in her new Mercedes, boo-hoo!!!
Give Mario, Ramona and Avery, any day of the week.
I got a kick out of your post. It was very funny and spot on. I totally buy things on sale that I don't need, I have a closet full to prove it.
Your comment regarding LuAnn WAS mean spirited, and actually none of your business. (That is a very feminine attribute you have--being a busy body). Your suggestion for LuAnn in today's blog sounds even more catty. Naughty kitty, Mario! Put your claws away, and act like a dude!
Mario you are a riot. Why men are just happier was right on. You need to write a book. I would find it more enjoyable reading than LouAnn's. Hello to Ramona and Avery they are just lovely, you are truly blessed.
I still think you are you hilarious. I am glad that you addressed your faith and I feel that it is important since you and Ramona seem to have a solid marriage andfamily life. You are both grounded and wonderful parents. Women who can't handle your jokes need to stick with Simon since he is almost a woman.
Very good, Mario! I know it's hard to believe, but some women do have a good sense of humor and can appreciate it in others (even men) without being offended. Your insight into "Arguments" is spot on (speaking as one who has been married to member of the male species for 19 years).
Firstly, I totally understood your comments last week regarding Luann adding a chapter to her book about dealing with divorce. I thought it was a compliment to her in saying that she was handling her current situation well.
Secondly, I do like reading your blog as well as Simon's since both of you are profiled in the show. It's sometimes good to get a man's perspective.
Thank you for at least acknowledging the blog comments. It's nice to know that since the viewers do take the time to write them, they are read.
Have a great summer and hope to see you again next season. All the best!
Why are you doing this? In your heart you yearn to be a Housewife? LuAnn's divorce was released by the media. This does not mean you have to comment on it. Slamming the others on the show is not funny. This is a show about the Housewives, not Mario!
...that luanne acknowledges it was YOUR idea for her to speak about HER divorce? are you insane? how is that your brainchild? and why would you even want her to acknowledge you for such an obvious concept?
I agree with everyone. Go away!!!! This is not the Real Househusbands of New York City. None of the casts have husbands that blog. If you were my husband, I would be so beyond embarrassed about the things you say and write. Grow up, and leave the blogging to the ladies.
Some of those are spot-on, esp the bathroom remark! My husband figures all my jars, tools etc. fall under the general category of "complicated & scary woman things!"
Although it's odd that the show has become the Housewives & Husbands of NYC, I'll read ANYTHING you or Simon put out over anything Kelly-related. I hope she doesn't get renewed for next season; I don't watch any of her video clips and don't read her blog posts any more b/c she makes my skin crawl. I think it's because I am allergic to fake things...
You and Ramona have the kind of marriage so many wish they could have...it's obvious you love and respect each other and your daughter. Keep it up, you handsome, hearty, happy hunk o'man!!!
I didn't really care for you or Ramona last season, but I find you both much more tolerable this season. However, I thought the tennis thing was a little petty on your part, but that keeps things interesting...I wouldn't be watching if there wasn't a little pettiness going on. Also, I couldn't help but laugh at your jokes. I am a woman and proud to admit that all of them are somewhat true.
You sometimes come off a little strong but I imagine you have to be strong to be married to Ramona. No dig. I like you both. I enjoyed the jokes you posted even if they have circulated in emails a hundred times by my friends. Had a good laugh. I can appreciate everybody on the cast except Kelly. She makes the OC cast look like brain surgeons and Silex as the Joneses. (I hope I spelled that right.)
