Telling It Like It Is
Bethenny talks buinsess ventures and shares her six dating tips!
Wow, some of you are mad at me from last week, and I apologize. I'm a "tell it like it is" person, and there are 8 months of the year that we aren't shooting together, and some things do happen behind the scenes.
Alex and Simon have done some upsetting things to divide the cast, and I really should have left my blog to what happened on the episode. My bad.
A lot of you have asked about my clothing on the show. At least 75 percent of what I wear is by Ginny H (Tommy Hilfiger's sister.) Visit her website: www.ginnyh.com. If you mention the show, she might give you a discount.
As for the logo, I used Alex to help me and to help her. The show hadn't really highlighted her as a graphic designer and I wanted to help her get some airtime for her business. As you can see, many of the cast didn't shoot with them that much because of their antics last season, so I wanted to help weave her into the show.
I appreciate her help with my logo, but I ended up going in another creative direction. I'm specific about my brand and business (it's how I survive and pay my rent) so I made the best business choice. You can judge for yourself at www.skinnygirlcocktails.com. Also on www.bethennybakes.com we're selling SkinnyGirl active wear and I thank you for your purchases.
Now to the show, I support Jill in all of her ventures and events, so her store party was fun. I love being with Jill and Bobby. We see each other all the time and support each other. Jill bought 10 Naturally Thin copies the day they went on sale, and I'd do the same for her.
I actually thought Ramona's dating rules were pretty spot on, but we're in a different world than we were 15 to 20 years ago (plus I love a good joke) so I created some tongue and cheek rules of my own.
1) No textual relationships.
Once you've launched a relationship, it's fine, but tell a guy you're not a textual person and they'll finally call.
2) Think of your vagina as a vase.
Even if they do die, flowers should be sent when courting.
3) Spend weekends and holidays together.
If you're not spending weekends and holidays together, he's not your boyfriend.
4) Let the man be the man.
He chooses the restaurant, he absolutely should pick you up for a date and no matter how far out of his way, he must drop you off.
5) Easy on the booze.
Don't get wasted on the first date, or your promiscuous side will come right out and you'll end it before it begins.
6) It always ends up the way it starts.
Remember the first phone call, date, the way he treats you because things always come full circle and don't waste time.
As far as Kelly's relationship with Max, it seems like a casual flirtation that she's trying to portray as a boyfriend. Communication with someone is difficult in English much less with a language barrier. I wish them luck. He seems nice.
As far as Ramona madness, she just can't help herself. She is fine one minute, and then like a Venus Flytrap the next. It's very jarring because it's like a hurricane that no one warned you about.
I think Ramona called me the underdog just to zing Jill. She has tried to before at our lunch in the Hamptons which you saw in the second episode, and neither time did I let her get away with it. As far as my business advice, Ramona has asked me to meet with her to give her business advice. In the end, people do what they want.
My photo shoot for Naturally Thin was great. I ended up using a much more casual photo than you saw. Photo shoots are still hard work, and this one was my most important one by far. We're in our fourth week and holding strong on the New York Times list at number 3. Now I have to beat "what to expect when you're expecting at number 2." We were off by 500 books last week. Very grateful.
As far as the business ventures everyone is working on, I wish them the best. I give Jill all the business advice in the world and she usually listens. I think Ramona could have a good shot with the jewelry line being successful. I hope that the Countess does well with the etiquette topic particularly during this economy. Her picture was lovely. I want everyone in the class to get an A as long as I get one.
As for my moronic supermarket appearance, it was humorous. The store didn't promote the event and some people wanted no part of me or the cameras. Life is rose petals and thorns and I love Bravo for showing all of it. I've made many mistakes in my life and each has made me stronger. Mistakes are gifts were given to make us work harder.
