Making Memories

Jill shares what she'll remember most about the riad and her thoughts on Alex's entrance.

Jun 10, 2011

Hi everyone!

It is 100 degrees outside! It is August? I am really loving my time off and trying to reconnect with friends I haven't seen all winter. Last weekend Bobby's sister Zina and her husband came to visit us from Florida. We had a great time and went to a few BBQs in the Hamptons. I went back to the city to see my friend Irina Dvorovenko in Lady of Camellias at the MET. This weekend I am hosting some of my girlfriends from Harpo/Oprah, who were so generous and invited me and my family to see one of Oprah's final shows. They have never been to the Hamptons so I am obsessing over what to show them. Allyson comes home this weekend from Africa. I will post some of her photos in next weeks newsletter, which you can sign up for at jillzarin.com.

Now onto the show!

I really wish I believed Ramona's feelings about our talk. She hits below the belt and thinks it's OK. I can't listen to her continue to say she sometimes puts her foot in her mouth and thinks that it is alright to do so -- only to then throw stones at me if I say something she doesn't like. I really don't know what to do about our relationship at this point. I guess we'll see what happens at the reunion.

The scene when Alex walked in on LuAnn was so funny. Alex said Ramona was vulnerable and sad, giving us the image of her crying upstairs and all the while Ramona and Sonja were laughing and sneaking out of the house. Ramona's pain over our fight didn't last long did it?

Afterwards, I was really trying to be nice to Alex and see if we could have a friendship. I know she felt better after I walked over. I was happy.

The trip to Morocco was truly amazing -- the riad, the souk, the camel ride to the tent in the desert, just to name a few. I want to thank Luann for being the hostess. I know we're not the easiest group! It was also nice to meet up with my dear friend Brad in such an amazing place. In midst of all the drama, I have special memories that will live in my heart forever. I hope that all of you enjoyed watching these episodes and seeing the beauty and mystery of this exotic country.

I very recently hit 50,000 newsletter subscribers. Thank you all so much. That 50,000th person will be receiving a phone call from yours truly! Thank you all so much. The next goal is 55,000 and that person will receive a call as well, so sign up at jillzarin.com.

SkweezCouture.com is now up! Please check it out. Visit Skweez Couture on Facebook and Twitter as well. Jennifer Zarin has a new blog up that you can read on her Facebook page, The Birthmark Project. The blog is entitled "No Place For Hate," and it is amazing. My sister Lisa Wexler also has a great Facebook page, be sure to drop by.

Finally, thank you for all of the comments you have left on jillzarin.com. I read them all so please keep posting them.

Love,

Jill

So glad to have the humble Jill back. Ramona is not responsible for your Bethenny situation.

Jill,

I really appreciated the olive branch you extended to Ramona... way to take the high road.

Sarah

I like how you went back to talk to Ramona a second time to smooth things over. That showed real class.

I can see that you have changed and are trying to improve and grow as a person. You are the one person on the show who I actually like more now than I did last season. Keep being authentic, kind, and forgiving! I like the new Jill!

It makes me so happy to see friendliness between you and Alex. In fact, you seem like you would be such a good friend, that it always makes me sad when you are estranged from someone and I always want you to make up!

I love, love, love you Jill! You're the only reason I still watch the show. Looking forward to the reunion, and Go Team Brunette!

You were one of the few behaving civilly on the trip and trying to enjoy yourself. I don't know if you and Ramona are friends or not. Just because you've know someone 20 years, doesn't make them your friend.

Love this episode. You are funny, pleasant and forgiving!

Your going back and smoothing things over shows what a kind hearted person you are, good work, Ramona is a tough sensative cookie!

Jill you do seem to have a big heart. I think you learned from your fight with Bethanny, not to let arguments go too far. At least that's a positive from that unfortunate situation.

I agree with all the comments. I wish you and Bethanney could build your friendship, as you both seem like such nice souls.

I am glad you and Ramona are working out your differences. I wish, as I am sure you do that the same could have happened with Bethanny. Please be very careful of LuAnn, she enjoys when you have conflicts with others. She is not as good a friend as you think.

You really were awesome this episode!

Love, love, love you this season.

I just can't see how Luann was at all funny the way she was treating Alex. Between the 2 of them (kelly& Luanne) Alex couldn't get a word in and was "dismissed from the table" All I can say if you want to better yourself please stop spending so much time with with Luanne. .

Jill, Once again, the bigger, better person. You are a very caring person and it always shows. However, that is the person who gets hurt the most when the unthinking throw hand grenades and walk blithely on their way. That is what you are dealing with when you interact with Ramona. Accept it and call her out when she does something you don't like...right on the spot. Then it is over. Don't tell LuAnn or Kelly or Cindy....just handle it. And then zip it. Let her be the gossip. Being upfront will be the best way to handle her.

It makes me happy too whenever I see you reconcile with someone. Lately, I've enjoyed seeing you and Alex being kind to each other.

Maybe you and Ramona don't get along because you're two of a kind.

Jill, You are definately a more likeable person this season over past ones.

Jill, I am really impressed by how much you have changed (in a good way) since last season! It really seems like you are making a huge effort! You seem to really be listening and taking into account the other womens' feelings!! This has made the show much more enjoyable to watch!

Jill - you proved last night to be as good as your word. You said you were going to change and you have. When you went to Rs room to make peace, it made me cry. I hope you all can be friends. Not everyone is best friends and that's okay. And I also hope someday that you and Bethany are friends again. Here's hoping.

Jill,

You won me back. You are showing you are the bigger person. Alex truly does not want to see you and Ramona unhappy with each other.

I am glad to see you re-approach Ramona and be the bigger person.

Glad to see you take the higher road. It shows class.

There wasn't anything funny about the scene with Alex and Luanne.

Jill,

You have always been my favorite NY housewife, but I am so excited to see the new & improved Jill. Through out this entire Morrocco trip, you have truly shown grace, maturity, and (as the Countess likes to say) class. Before, when LuAnn was griping about Alex, you would have joined in. This time, at dinner you said "Can we talk about what an amazing day I had," deferring the negative attention to something much more constructive & positive. Good for you! I'm loving this new Jill, and my husband has gotten hooked on the show because of you! I know you were gracious enough to smooth things over with Ramona - but watch out....she's not a true friend like some of the other girls are (or could be!) to you.

You were so awesome and did such a good job at lightening the mood with your comments about your hair! Love you Jill, you get better with age and the fortune teller was right, you talk a lot, but your heart is bigger than your mouth and that is what matters!

thank you for rescuing Alex from Kelly, you were the one with class

Jill, that was so elequent the way you went back to Ramona, what a great thing to do, we all teared up at that moment. You are a great friend, we all put our best face forward with friends and try not to be back stabbers, but don't want to be mean, so you are right, we all have 2 faces.

The trip looked fabulous, you were so lovely to everyone, and I commend you on what a loving person you truly are.

Love your newsletter as well as your SqweezCouture!

Jill, I am glad that you did not bash Alex in your blog. I was upset with your character last year, but your olive branch toward Alex was really mature. Maybe you did change for the better!!

Jill again loved reading your blog. It is a shame though that you and Alex are not better friends. She really comes across as being very authentic, something you always claim to be yourself. Why LuAnn, she might defend you but she is TROUBLE........

I like the new you. I know you were humbled by the loss of your friendship with Bethenny. I can see you are completely destroyed by that and trying not to encounter a similar situation. God Bless you!

Jill, I absolutely adore you, and I really am sad that you and B are no longer friends. But let's get something clear. Ramona is not the reason for it. Luann is! I don't understand how you are able to stand to be around such a snake! It just makes you look bad! Even Kelly is not altogether there! I am not saying to be bff with Ramona or Alex, but you should prob take a more neutral stance with everyone. What can I say? Show me who your friends are and I'll show you who you are!

Also, I am proud of how you acted with Ramona at the end. It is a definite change from last season and it was nice to watch.

We SOOO love you, Jill! My group of girlfriends ALL said they'd choose you over any of the other ladies to have as a friend! You are down-to-earth, fun, smart & sincere! We just can't figure out how you & Ramona became friends in the first place, as she is such a head case! Please distance yourself from her before she causes you any more tears. She's not worth it and I've thought this since season1!!!

Team Jill & LuAnn!

Jill, You and Ramona have had your ups and downs over the last season of the show, Seems like the two of you go at each other,,,two topics at the same time..Then make up and hug, Matters get worse when others get involved, After last night, it seems that Luanne and Alex are the ones wanted the drama.

Jill, you and Ramona are so much alike.

I liked the olive branch move as well, until I saw the previews for next week's episode. Leaving Ramona out of whatever you invited the other ladies to? Doesn't seem very "I love you Ramona and have your back" to me.

Jill I have always really liked you except for last season. But I do feel that you are making an effort to return to the true Jill this season and I am starting to root for you again. I love how when you returned the bathing suit you were a truly big person and smoothed things over with Ramona. I hate to see Luann getting in between you and your friends. I think that she sabotaged any efforts others made to help your friendship with Bethanny and now she is really working on your relationship with Ramona. You and Ramona have plenty of ups and downs on your own and don't need her negative energy buzzing in your ears. Anyway I look forward to watching you the rest of the season.

Jill, I like you but be careful with your relationship with Luann..she see's herself as your defender "WHY???" just remember how she defended your from Bethenny and look how that turned out..

Love you Jill and completely understand your side of this situation. Please stay as you are, there is no need for change.

I was glad to see you approach Ramona. That was the right thing to do. Maybe you could coach Luann in taking it down a notch, she was so uptight and demanding at times in Morocco.

You did good with Ramona to move forward and try to perserve your friendship. Keep moving forward!

Jill you seem like a genuine person and Romana is lucky to have you as a friend:)

Jill keep cool and just let Ramona spout her nasty comments and false accusations. Don't sink to her level on here or Twitter. I'm happy to see you back to your old self this season, we missed you! Forget about any relationship with Ramona.

Jill, I am soooo proud of you. You have been true to your word to take the high road and try to stay away from conflict. You and Ramona will always have your differences and you seem to rise above them. I hope that you two will find a peace w/each other. You may not be close as before, but will be able to be graceful to each other. Have a great summer and I wish you well.

Jill - I have to admit it is refreshing seeing a change in you this season. I don't think I could take another season like the last one. All the best to you - you are an amazing mom!

I'm still lovin' your new leaf of growing, trying to think of others, watching what comes out of your mouth, etc. You're now one of the great ones to watch! xoxo

Hi Jill,

You and Ramona are two strong women, with very different interpretations to life, but I think at the end of the day you do truly care about one another even though you both bug the $h!t out of each other! I have to admit I was a little taken aback at how upset both of you were over the fight, it was a little nice to see that at the end of day, neither of you wanted to walk away from the friendship. Granted Ramona feels things differently than you, she's able to compartmentalize and turn things on and off i.e. one minute crying, the next minute off with Sonja, but I truly do think she was very upset at the idea of losing you in her life. not that you guys are going to be Besties (you never were) but I think you all have become permanent fixtures in each other lives bc of the cirlces you run in and the years behind it. Granted Ramona is an adult women, I would also venture to say that somewhere along the line the way she acts is a result of learning how to survive in an abusive family. She is emotionally stifled and I think you are emotionally more intelligent than her so you have to keep that in mind when you deal with her. At the end of the day, I do not think either of you are sinister mean people, just complicated. Now Luann on the otherhand is gross to me. She actually has invented this life in her mind, and really beleives she has some sort of pedigree or blue-blood breeding. 6 brothers and sisters...no college education, the 4rth or 5th wife of some old guy who belonged to some arcaic french aristocracy that has long since been disolved, her "hit" single, her "classy book", her cheesy young boyfriend, I mean the woman is a walking joke. I would be embarrassed to acknowledge her in public much less count her as a friend! For all her dribbble about class and pedigree, perhaps she should take note of some real Classy women...Jackie O., Princess Di, Kate Middleton, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn....those were classy women....not LuAnn Du la blahblahblah the 40-something single mom who's works on a cable TV reality show and sits nex to Andy Cohen on WWHL to find out who won the "who is the weirdest houswife" poll!

I definitely see improvement in you this season. You have a ways to go, but you definitely are trying, and I give you all the credit in the world for that:)

Hi Jill I think you are the sweetest on the show. I have to say season two with you and Bethanny is truly my favorite. I cant bear to watch season three because it makes me soooo sad to see the fight with you and Bethanny. I have to say this to you (dont know if you read these or not) Luann stood in the way of you and Bethanny regaining your friendship. I'm so sorry for you because when you watch season 1 and 2 its so clear the depth of love and friendship between you two. If only you could get that friendship back I don't see you with anyone else on the show makes you as happy as Bethanny. I feel your pain because I lost a friend that I was that close to and its such a profound loss I can't tell you how many times I wish I could have it back but there is no way. So I wish you the best, your a doll and you made a mistake, a good friend like (luann) would have pulled you aside and said ENOUGH straighten this out.

Jill , really liking you this season! I really think you are trying to better yourself! Liked how you made peace with Alex ! Glad you and Ramona worked things out! Just wish that when you and Ramona have problems that it wouldn't turn in a blonde vs brunette situation.
