Grrrr-Reunion

Kelly discusses the differences between an RHONY reunion and a family reunion and chats about the "real" New York.

Jul 25, 2011

Most reunions are celebrations where people are nervous and eager to see how everyone has evolved. The RHONY reunion show, which is filmed over a full day, in contrast, is literally a free-for-all where women attempt to portray who they think they are. Fortunately, the viewers and I always see through the "pinot-vision."

Where do I start? I was raised by a lawyer and facts always come first. On this show, facts are always railroaded by people's delusion. This is also what makes it so funny, and why I secretly enjoy filming. Last season, we were bombarded by constant infomercials for various products, and I, like you, was confused and offended. This season we are bombarded with situations like burlesque parties, pinot parties, and odd interactions that aren't "what New York really looks like." There are drunk blondes in every city in America, in the Midwest we call them "bar flies." New York is an amazing place that's inspiring on so many levels with endless opportunities and outlets for creative expression. It’s not just me who realizes how tacky some of the women act and look. Most NY women, like most American women, are usually in an office or at places like Chelsea Piers waiting for their kids to finish practice. Seriously? In my opinion, the luckier women in NY are usually very busy being supportive mothers, philanthropists, and standing in line at Whole Foods. Not everyone is hawking their wares and branding themselves during a conversation.

That's why I stick out. I speak my mind with the goal to be effective, but not necessarily always right. Do I want to see a 40-something year old women's vulva? I'm not a gyno, FYI. Do I want to go to an anniversary party and be alarmed by a potential pregnancy from a 54 year-old woman? (P.S. that's half way to 109) These are questions we all have the answers to.

Love you Kelly but u need to stay out of the other crazy women's fights and be more like lou anne. You are very likable when u don't bud in the other fights.

This reunion was full of drama (which is great!) but these women are ruthless! They all need to get lives. Cindy is ridiculous and Kelly is NOT nice.

Kelly - you have changed the least of all the housewives! You are always yourself and people just don't understand how totally authentic you are.

Kelly, You are right, those blondes are crazy. I am sure business NY women have to be offended to be portrayed like this. Stay real .

This is one time that I agree with you! This whole season of RHNY has been an affront to the REAL housewives of America!!!! These women need to be taught some manners! This will be the final time for me!

Kelly you actually behaved with class and dignity tonight unlike the blondes who spent most of the reunion yelling and insulting and talking over everyone! I did feel like this season was all about pimping Ramona's wine and jewelery and it got really old, I was hoping we were done with the women trying to promote their goods on the show after Betheny left. I was proud of how you held your head high this season and did not let the other ladies drag you down, stay true and hope to see you next season!

Kelly- We Love You Girl!!!! Keep talking about Alex's Crazy Train because she really is on some ride!

Kelly I love you! You are so witty and cool and I love the way you have been keeping it real! I think you have a ton of class and you just know where the boundaries are in social situations. Alex is so transparent, I am really happy you called her out this season.

KELLY! I LOVE YOU! BY FAR THE BEST HOUSEWIFE!

Over the rainbow, through the woods, down the yellow brick road, through the looking glass....and back to Kelly Land.

That was quite possibly one of the funniest things I've read in a while.

Kelly - no matter how you try to distance yourself, you are all one and the same. So you'd better zip it. Please.

I am not sure why you are known as the voice of reason, I get the impression that you are always one feather away from flying off the handle.

I love you Kelly, but 54 is halfway to 108! LOL! You crack me up....never stop being you!! Best wishes....

If any of the brunetts are on next season I will not watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand any of them!

You're the best Kelly!!! I absolutely love you on the show!!!

These days you sound like the only one that has any sense. Nice posting.

This season was so much better for you - enjoyed watching you and the fact that you were always smiling. You seem to really enjoy your life and appreciate what you have. Love that you aren't competing like so many of the other women.

If you are the voice of reason, then the world is coming to an end!

Totally agree with you Kelly! Alex just wants to brand herself...just look at her weekly blogs! Trying to do the hard sell! Anyway, I love you say what you think and totally agree with the comments about old woman not wearing underwear and woman that like to think they are 30 when knocking on 54! Come on...pregnant....u wish Ramona! Go have another pinot!

Kelly, I have to say this year you were my favorite. Such a contrast from last year. Your blog was spot on! There is nothing "Real" about people who are not genuine. And you are right, the viewers see through that mess. You were the voice of reason this year and I am glad you allowed us to get to know you better this year. Alex needs to give it a rest. I love how you shut people down when they are making a fool of themselves. I think you did Alex a favor at times. LOL Thank you for not wanting to stir up the drama to make good television. I wish you and your lovely daughters the very best.

Love you Kelley.........just keep being you!

KKB, YOU ROCK ON, girl!! I know that you will come out strong and grounded and I watch you evovle from 2 seasons past. You have been right, there were cast members that were really intimidated and jealous of you when you came on board that's why THEY (they stand out as sore thumbs-the one's that interrupts you in midsentence with their AKA's) planted in the viewers mind that you have lost you mind....smear campaign!!! Same here, I know successful NYorkers areproductively busybody and have that classy edge to them.... You are so dead on that 3 ahem 4 of the RHONY are/were obviously there to plug their business and has no SHAME to ACT as lowlife as ghetto street fighters. It's a matter of who's real and secure in their life that will survive the media frenzy. I mean, if you have 'IT' you will be "IT" come high and low...Good luck, I am happy for you and your girls!!!

You are the voice of sanity. Many thanks.

You're so right about seeing more than was necessary.

Stay the way you are. Honesty and facts usually will show in the end.

You make the decision to go to the affore mentioned events. If they disgust you-don't go.

Kelly, I love how you shoot from the hip.

Kelly, I have truly 100% fallen in love with you this season in many ways.... First and for most I love what a WONDERFUL, LOVING and CARING Mother you are!!! I feel the same as you when it comes to life, my children & their happiness will ALWAYS be first!!! I also love how you have finally have come to speak your mind, because you truly do have a voice of reason! I am happy to see you finally speaking up to Ramona, it has to be hard to deal with that woman! I also agree that yes maybe you should not have spoken about Sonja's home and her being messy but I understand your point as well. You were speaking the truth and your mind at the time and I am sure that in no way did you say that with the intent to hurt her. As you said the REAL NY is not a bunch of drunk blondes - we can get them a dime a dozen anywhere in this world. Real is a single mother doing the best she can raising her children as you, Jill, Cindy and the Countess do. Real is having a lunch date with a friend or going to the dentist or the spa with a friend as all the Brunettes do, unlike the blondes. I feel so badly for you Cindy, Jill and the Countess with having to deal with the craziness that Sonja, Romona especailly and their sidekick Alex bring. I thought you were so sweet trying to help Alex but obviously she likes to have an over bearing husband that embarrasses her, yells at her and her friends and most likely is the reason she is red all the time. I believe you have true friends in Jill, Cindy and the Countess and I hope that you 4 continue on and Bravo brings in 3 other new women that are not drunken (Ramona) hot messes(Sonja) or fame seeking actresses (Alex). Love you Kelly and you are a sweet person that is a awesome mom and friend!!! You are one of the REALIST RHONY!!!!!

Kelly you are AMAZING!

Voice of reason??? LMAO!

Kelly you certainly were more pleasant to watch this season. Keep it up!

LMAO...you may not know it ...but you have branded yourself quite well!

Kelly, The fashion look from the 60's is my favorite! I look at old photos of my family and want their dresses today!. Wish they would bring the look back. Tailored but comformtable. (I want an empire dress!) You and LuAnn always photogragh so well like a model. The others look awkward. Keep uplifting us. You do it well.

I love your blog-very refined and intellectual. Kelly u r a fine woman!

Glad to be Brunette!!!

Kelly, I loved you yesterday! I thought you were the most grounded although, you should have owned up to the comments you made about Sonja and her house. Look the other ladies talk way more trash than you do but I would have liked for you to have acknowledged and then say your sorry for the comments...but then again maybe you are not sorry you said them and in the case it was not nice!

Kelly, you have become my favorite, Cosmo was right! your are a super nice chic! Alex is just jealous that she or Simon didn't make it into cosmopolitan nice list. Stay sweet and hope to see you next season, minus the blondes

You continue to not make too much sense and you are not really nice; no wonder I stopped my Cosmo subscription. Stop criticizing Sonja's home and instead stop living in your ex husband's home and try buying your own home with your own money.

I'm sorry, but the things you say rarely make sense. (This is why the few times you ARE reasonable, everyone sits up in amazement.) You are hurt by seeing a mature woman's private parts, yet you, in your 40s, pose for Playboy? And 54 is halfway to 108, not 109.

You just make me tired...you contradict yourself constantly! do you not watch yourself or has all those jelly beans, lollipops and rainbows warped your brain? Bless your heart!

Kelly i really enjoyed watching you this season, Sometimes you were very witty and funny, I like how nice your lunch with Ramona and Sonja, She said sorry and you thanked her with a smile. However I think you really hurt Sonja's feelings when you made the comments about her house. Really think you owe her an apology for those comments.

I could have you for a best friend any day. Your loyalty oozes from the screen. And your children. Such manners and respect, you are truly blessed. Whatever happened to you cannot compare to the reward at the end. Don't let them bully you, it is not true that blondes have more fun they can be a miserable lot lol. Looking forward to seeing much more of you in the future. And I don't normally do reality TV but got hooked on NY. But I get such a kick out of watching Ramona constantly shaking her head and her eyes bulging out. She seriously reminds me of a sharpee'. Okay that was low but true.

I honestly can't tell you how much I just enjoyed reading your post. You're a writer and I adore that about you. I'm beyond refreshed at your effervescent tone and how you manage to balance it out with the most endearing sense of genuine realism. In short, I think I may be your newest fan.

kelly, You are the prettiest and they are jealous of you!! Get out of the LIONS DEN before they eat you alive!!!!

Kelly- You carried yourself beautifully. You don't need to shout above their nonsense and I love that you don't try to. They are Crazy and while you keep your cool and they lose it, it only makes them look crazier! Ramona, Sonja and Alex are terrible and make the show hard to watch. I hope Bravo Takes note and shows us more of the interesting "real" things that go on in such a wonderful city. I want to hear about amazing people making a difference in their city and in the world, not Ramona's wine!
