I arrived a day late because I was in New York City hosting a Soul Cycle class with US Weekly. If you haven't tried spinning, and it's in your neighborhood or at your local Curves, try it!!!
I digress. I got into the car after the spinning class and jumped out of the car in my sweatshirt and filmed LuAnn's video. Friends show up for friends. Period.
So, when I got to the Borgata (an amazing hotel which makes Atlantic City feel like Vegas) I was excited to try my hand at gambling. Not everyone tries gambling for the first time, and is filmed doing it for a music video. So, now the entire world knows my gambling prowess, or the lack there of. Everyone has a lucky number, I'm just not sure what mine is.
Music videos are fun to film. They are! It was my first, and it was a blast. And, I can honestly say I feel sorry the other ladies missed out on that experience. LuAnn is not the town crier and the music video is not her on a soapbox telling the world what to do or not to do. Luann took her first book, Class with the Countess and created a hit song, "Money Can't Buy You Class," and "Chic C'est La Vie" is sure to follow in it's footsteps.
Let's get to the thick of it. Does money buy you class? In this group, most of the women think that is does. They think it buys them a rite of passage, a superiority complex and the right to turn their nose up at anything they'd like to disagree with at that moment, even if they are guilty of much worse. Money can't buy you class, but it can buy you an education, which affords you the ability to make your dreams a reality. It is not an outright purchase, no. The word "class" which is more commonly used in Europe than America, is about navigating through all situations with grace, and draws a line in the sand between those who aspire and those who don't. What more can I say. I struggle everyday, trying to do the best for myself, family and friends. Every woman has the ability to be elegant -- don't knock those who want it.
#kkbstyle: This week, Im obsessed with light grey nail polish. My Twitter followers (@kellybensimon) and I are crazed over it. Grey is the new neutral.
What to wear this weekend? Lace it up! Lace is huge trend for summer and you can even layer lace for a more covered look than the beach cover up. Anthropologie has gorgeous lace dresses.
And for your pied, try an espadrille. One of my oldest friends, who you probably have seen on HSN: Curations with Stefani Greenfield, has the sickest espadrille collection. They are available on TheodoraandCallum.com. They are hot with long maxis or even shorts -- if you dare to wear shorts out at night.
As always, check out my offerings on OpenSky and see what I am wearing, eating, and how I am exercising on my Facebook fanpage. Follow me @KellyBensimon. And, my jewelry will be available at Wink, W Hotels, and at Dash.
Until next week, as the Housewives turnnnnnnnn. . .
can anyone please tell me what the name of the pearl and leather lariat style necklace is that Cindy is wearing in some of the interview portions of the show? I have searched and cannot find one similiar. Even the designer name would be even better. Pamela .
Kelly, on the show you say you are disappointed that Alex, Ramona, and Sonja didn't show up for Luann's video....why did you leave Cindy out of that admonishment? She didn't show up either...
Big eye roll... Yes friends support friends BUT the brunettes have made it clear that they are not friends with the blondes. So...whatever...
You mentioned Curves in your blog this week. If you're not already aware, please be advised that its founder, Gary Heaven, is a major contributor to anti-choice organizations that seek to deny women reproductive freedom. As a pro-choice woman, I do not patronize Curves. Like you, I'm a mother with two daughters, and I am fighting to make sure that abortion remains safe and legal. PP
KELLY, YOU ARE A TRUE FRIEND, LUANN NEEDED ALL THE LADIES TO BE THEIR FOR HER, AND HER TURE FRIENDS WERE THEIR FOR HER, THE OTHER LADIES JEALOUS SIDE CAME OUT. BUT YOU ARE ALWAYS THEIR FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND ARE HAPPY FOR THEM, WHEN GOOD THINGS COME THEIR WAY. YOU HAVE A HEART OF GOLD. THEY ARE LUCKY TO HAVE A FRIEND LIKE YOU. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. GO TEAM KELLY
Kelly your great this season, i love you! Its great to see you building a close relationship with LuAnn...your a good friend.
kelly, you have turned out to be the voice of reason on this show. While the others just criticize and condemn eachother for the very characteristics they embody themselves, you have shown yourself to be a kind, supportive, gracious if sometimes a bit zany woman who manages to be entertaining without being crude and unkind.
Kelly, you are so perceptive and honest. I had thought to label The Countess the town crier just the other night while nodding off to dreamland listening to her new song. You gals were just perfect for the video, glamorous and attentive to LuAnn. One shouldn't chide the others for not participating, it's their loss and I'm sure each one is kicking themselves for not joining in on the fun. All the Mom's have busy lives and their children's needs to consider.
I am so on TEAM KELLY now... You've done an amazing turn this season and I look forward to your entertaining missives on RHONY!
Kelly, you are my favorite HW. You're not snobby like the other ones and it seems you greatly appreciate your wonderful lifestyle. It also seems like you just wanna enjoy life and you don't sweat the small stuff.
I think you should try to get along with Alex, Ramona and Sonya. You act as though you are better than them.
I was happy to see the positive change in you this season. You really tried to get along with everyone. At the Reunion I was so pleased that you mentioned Bethanny and her successful business venture. You were the villain last season because of the way you kept saying Bethanny was a cook and not a chef. Not good. Way to redeem yourself!!
