The Road Less Traveled

Kelly discusses her travel partners and gives us her tips on international travel.

By Kelly Killoren Bensimon

I cannot believe we are flying to Morocco! As a model, I traveled all over the world -- but it was from hotel, to van, to location, and back. I never really saw much, only what I could take in through the window. I am now traveling to Africa with ladies whom I have grown to feel so comfortable with. The informal education and unknown is what makes it so alluring -- not the thread count.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Peacock and catch up on the Bravo app

Can you believe what Ramona packed? It was both an infomercial for her jewelry line and handpicked from the ‘80s.

Sonja has made it official. She does not wear underwear at any time. I have been privy to her parts and am saying, for the record, every woman should wear panties. Discovering is much more flattering than be blasted with nakedness, just sayin'.

The riad we stayed in was amazing and reflective of pure Moroccan style. I loved all of the colors and the aesthetic of the house. Sometimes you have to pinch yourself.

I was disappointed that the "blondes" didn't join us for lunch. I was hoping they would participate more in the trip. It's hard to see the good in people when they continually show you the bad. I felt bad for LuAnn, but I respected that she remained the hostess and tried to include everyone. Cindy and I are the only single women, and we are the ones hanging at home? Really? Now, the whole world is going to see what it's like to travel with Ramona and Sonja. Fasten your caftan.

Rules to travel by: Don't chew gum in public. Don't speak ill of a country in front of a native. When traveling with a group of people, invite everyone to do everything. Exclusive is boring, and inclusive is cool -- and HOT. You'll never know what you will learn from someone. Listen to all psychics, especially those who tell you that you are going to get married and have another baby. Drink what the Moroccans drink even if its weird green tea (it was actually good). And if you are lured by a snake charmer, make sure you have Jill Zarin with you to put it on her head. I couldn’t believe how brave she was.

I am obsessed with home décor and fashion. Morocco was a visual playground for me. The colors and the textures put me into decorating hyperspace. I love all the easy ways of making your home Moroccan inspired. #kkbhome tips: paint your walls red or warm yellow, put slippers or flip flops in a basket in your front hall, and make your house a no shoe zone. Put colored paned lanterns on the ground to bring the light low and sexy in a room. HomeGoods has amazing lanterns, wooden baskets, and exotic candles. Cover your bed with a fun piece of ethnic fabric and keep the pillowcases white. Add green and white tile in a pattern instead of wainscoting in your bathroom and paint the walls white. Instead of lounging in a T-shirt and sweats, wear long fun caftans from H&M. And, never be afraid of adding color to a couch, chair, ottoman, or huge cozy pillows.
