Bonjour my friends! As I write this, I'm working hard at relaxing on the lovely island of Corsica.
In this episode, Victoria and I spend some mother-daughter time while I teach her how to drive. What could be a tense situation turns into a really fun mother-daughter afternoon because we truly enjoy each other's company. It's hard as a mother to watch your daughter grow up and become more independent, but it's important that we teach our girls to become self-sufficient adults.
One of the things I love about Sonja is that she doesn’t take herself too seriously. I think Sonja helps Ramona to lighten up and on their shopping trip to the burlesque store, you can see that Sonja insists on enjoying life, regardless of what it brings her.
Jill’s visit to see Ally at college was instructive to me, since Victoria will be heading off to college in a year. I thought freshman took the basics like English and math, but when Ally told Jill about her Latino film and human sexuality classes, I quickly realized that a lot has changed since I went to college! It was fun to watch Jill, who is very practical, listen to Ally’s defense of her course choices. Of course in true Zarin fashion, shopping ensued and both girls seemed to enjoy seeing each other.
I had to chuckle when Avery shared her thoughts on Ramona’s parenting skills. Wasn't it just a couple of episodes ago when Ramona shared her opinion of my parenting? I'm sure that Ramona feels she is a good mother and that she spends enough time with her daughter. Nonetheless, this scene goes to show you that it’s difficult to make teenagers happy while balancing family and work.
I really enjoyed you tonight, the time you spent with your daughter & Kelly showed me what a fantastic person you are. I usually tend to be in the other direction but tonight I changed my mind. I changed my mind because I saw your POV & it is pretty positive. Thanks for being supportive of Sonya & enjoying her party the way she wanted ALL of her guests to.
Glad to see that you have yet to turn on Sonja like you have so many others. But, really, was the dig at Ramona necessary?
As I have always said and always will you truly have class. I love seeing you and Kelly together I wonder if any of us would of gotten to know her so well without you.
Good blog Luann, all teens have a need to speed. You are a good mom and so is Ramona. Teens are so unpredictable one day they wants to be every where you are and somedays they need their space.
I can't help but wonder what you would say if Ramona would have offered her opinion in the studio like Jill did. Would you have excused it like you did with Jill.
I love your confidence and I like how you can fit in with different social groups around the world. Some people are just born this way. You remind me of my sister-in-law. She is tall, attractive, confident, intelligent, and she just has that essence of upper class. I think it makes some people jealous.
It would be nice if you showed us your roots(where you came from) on the show.
I think Avery's paper about Ramona shows that she thinks Ramona is a good mother as well. Avery is able to openly discuss her feelings with her mother and that is a sign of good parenting and a healthy relationship. They also obviously enjoy being together as well.
Be a little more gentle, please, in critiquing other's parenting skills and relationships with their children.
I really like your quote about what makes you interested make you interesting! I will use that going forward today. Thanks, Amy
Wasn't Avery's report on her mother touching? I love how choked up Ramona got. Ramona really does seem to be a good mom, her child is proof of that.
Thugh it doesn't appear in this episode I can't believe that Ramona came up with the "I'm a better parent than you" line and by default "My daughter is therefore better than yours!" Glad she wasn't in the video production, you never know what she would have cost you!
Totally loved this weeks show. All the daughters, very touching moments. I thought you teaching Victoria how to drive was priceless. She's an amazing woman, be proud!
You are amazing this season, a real treat. The scene with Victoria learning to drive was very, very real!! I love your family, especially your new addition named Jacques.
Dear LuAnn --
Funny that I should love the Housewives series so much (I am a country girl), but I truly enjoy it and you are one of my favorite Housewives. You have so much class and just seem the most sane out of the group.
I am a jewelry designer and love seeing the various pieces you wear in each episode. I have been creating jewelry for over 15 years. Each piece I create is one-of-a-kind. I specialize in Native American and nature themes made in bronze, and copper and rare exotic stones. I would not normally do something like this, but I think you would love my design aesthetic, and I would like to send you a necklace and earring set as a gift, but don't know how to go about such a thing.
I live in Clear Creek Canyon in central Utah in Fishlake National Forest -- in otherwords, you don't have to worry about me stalking you in New York (or anywhere else for that matter). I just sincerely think you would truly enjoy my jewelry.
If you are interested in receiving a gift from me or seeing my work, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Sorry to post this on your blog, but I didn't know any other way to contact you.
I like you the best of all the housewives and you always show class and sophistication. I love your jewelries too!!!
With all due respect, like it or not Avery is a well spoken, behaved and confident young lady. That is a testament to good parenting!
Your comment about Ramona was not a dig as others have commented. I feel the same as you.
I loved the driving lesson with Victoria. it was so funny. I have the same type of relationship with my daughters. Victoria seems like a genuinely nice girl, you must be very proud.
Luann, I got such a kick out of you and Victoria in the car! What a great mom/daughter moment for you both. It looked fun (and a little scary), but also what a poignant moment too. Love your new video for "Chic C'est La Vie". You all look like you are having so much fun. I think it's fabulous that you happily share your renewed zest for life with us all. As for those unhappy with your Ramona comments, you certainly have the right to speak your mind just as Ramona does (who for the record I also enjoy). I do seem to remember a few weeks back Ramona making some negative comments on your parenting skills on air. You both seem like good parents and that showed in this episode with your interactions with your daugthers. I'll continue to enjoy watching both of you!
Tonight's show was fun Sonja's party & dance was great fun. Seeing you with your daughter Victoria was like looking at a new person. You seemed relaxed not uptight at all, real. Was like you were just you without the proper rules, just a laugh with your daughter. Wish we could see more of you like that.
Actually, you, Jill and Ramona can be considered very good parents. All of your children are respectful, kind and smart in school. Enough said.
It's nice to see your moments with your children and your boyfriend, you seem so much more relaxed and genuine. Your behavior to some of the other housesives portrays you as pretenrious and condescending and is not becoming ay all. Like you so much better when you are not putting on airs.
Jacque brings out the best in you! Hope it continues to go well. He is a breath of fresh air. Love his sense of humor.
So jealous of the relationship you have with your daughter. Wish I had that with my mother but it's really great to see! You seem to be a really great friend to kelly. Can't wait to check out the new video!
Dear Countess, Your conversation with Kelly about the simple things in life being what matters was very touching and very true. If we have our health and are able to care for our families, we're very fortunate.
Your video conveys the opposite message. At a time when many people are out of work and children are living in shelters, it's hard to watch a video that celebrates wealth and status. Perhaps, if you do another video, you might keep this in mind. You could sing about NYC or friendship or any number of things that a wider audience could relate to. You could have a hit on your hands!
It's been fun reading about your adventures in Paris. I hope you and Victoria are able to enjoy a mother daughter trip to the Louvre. Warmly, Wendy
Actually, I thought only Jill and Kelly were morons. I think you are added to the list. You really aren't any better than anyone else. If you are such an expert on everything why the divorce? I think the countess is a SNOB!
The scene between Ramona and Avery was great! One can only wish that their children will write such a beautiful tribute to their own mom. Hopefully one of my three will do that someday. However, I found it classless that you had to find something wrong with the scene and give Ramona a dig! Take the blinders off countess!
Luanna I love you, I think you are fabulous. I am super happy to see ALEX AND RAMONA NOT BEING PART OF YOUR VIDEO.
I can't wait for watch your video. Your voice is wonder and you are pure classy.
can anyone please tell me what the name of the pearl and leather lariat style necklace is that Cindy is wearing in some of the interview portions of the show? I have searched and cannot find one similiar. Even the designer name would be even better. Pamela .
Wow im really shocked by how many people call you classless they all must be blondes lol! Anyways I think that your relationship with your daughter is awesome you seem to have very well round children that respect you, enjoy your company, and appreciate the things you do for them. Your daughter showed so much graditude toward you for the party you threw her which you probally spent alot less tha romona did and your daughter didnt act like she desevered it for turning 16 she real proper good job congrats. Oh and one more thing its really crappy how everyone was throwing you under the bus for spending so much time away from your kids and your kids couldnt be happier and other peoples children are complianing on reality tv about not spending enough time with their parents CLASSIC!
