Going South

Sonja covers her breakfast with Cindy and LuAnn's ill-fated lunch with Ramona.

Fun episode with Lu Lu's video. Turned out I couldn't go. Anyone who knows me knows I'm geographically challenged. I don't like going to Tribeca, Govenors Island, Quogue, and now Atlantic City, when I can just be ensconced in my home with family and the menagerie of pets! I really am married to my house!

My daughter didn't want me to leave her overnight during the week. Or even a whole day away. I am with her everyday after school and it's precious to us to have that time. The after-school snack when we perfect our toaster oven recipes for our book, homework, and then the time we relax together until bath/dinnertime/bedtime is priceless. I want her to know I am there, though not perfect. They grow up so fast, and I hear eleven is crazy! There will be a time she won't want me around so much?

I also have so much going on in my life right now with my divorce, and movie deal that went south, on top of managing my household, that my time is strapped.

I can see Alex and Ramona are not dying to support LuAnn and her video. Let's face it we are all so busy with our families, business, charities, and we just can't attend everything we are invited to. One really has to streamline it down to have anytime left over for themselves in fact. Me time is so important!

I was glad Jill and Kelly were going. That should make a good video! Very glamorous at minimum. How funny was it when the director couldn't say anything but great? Come on! Wrap your arms around this project.

I love working out at the Equinox. I do the spin, yoga, and mini trampoline classes and it's within waling distance, of course. Ramona can be hard core so I play it up a bit so she doesn't push me too hard! I have her number after all these years. LOL!

I thought Alex's hair and makeup was the best ever by the fire pit with the family and her friends. Just stellar. She does have a point about class being something better not spoken about in certain situations. Grace under fire in this group should suffice!

Ramona's lunch with LuAnn is a disaster. As far as being a parent, my view is no one is perfect, and what is important is that your children know you are there for them when they need you. Why is LuAnn so upset Ramona doesn't want to do the video? I would respect Avery's point of view. Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with Turtle Time on vacation! Oh no, then she brings up the fortuneteller again. Boy oh boy, these girls really can give it to each other.

Jill was the perfect choice for our visit to Dr. Eric Braverman's PATH Medical suites. Xudoung Fu must have found Jill and I to be fine specimens for the Brain Electrical activity mapping. This is to test the balance of ones neurotransmitters. This controls cravings and feeling of satiety. Turns out my brain is too fast and wears me out! I'm also learning that weight has a lot to do with sleep. Sleep is everything! Getting to bed early and getting eight good hours takes the weight off your mid section. Many of us. Moms take advantage of the hours when the rest of the family is sleeping to pay bills online, clean house, return emails. Not good! Hormones are important too. No wonder they used to drown us in the old days, and say we were witches! We keep living longer and longer and are not equipped to do that without help from supplements for brain health. The brain controls appetite and mood. Dr. Eric Braverman's nutritionist extraordinaire Christina Santini gave me vitamins and food tips. Wow! You saw the difference no? When I met with the plumber from Liquidtech? And with the Feng Sui expert Judith Wendell? So healthy! And my waistline is back! I am so grateful to Dr. Braverman for helping me get on track. I love his facilities and to be able to treat Jill. They have everything you need under one roof. "I don't want to be raisin like". Check out his website they have free quizzes to see what nutrients your brain is missing and needs.

Back to Jill, I like that she can joke about guilt and drama with me and we move on. I think we have an understanding that we want the best for each other though neither of us are perfect.

Wow! That breakfast for Cindy so we could get to know each other also went -- South! Just like when I went South to Tribeca, 35 minutes away to meet with Cindy to get to know her, when she knew she couldn't even have lunch with me when I left. She came to my home for homemade breakfast tailored to what I thought she would enjoy when she knew she couldn't have breakfast. I canceled my business meetings with the usual gaggle of lawyers and advisers, had three interns waiting to work with me upstairs on my social media and appearances, rescheduled my complimentary Burlesque dance class with Jo Boobs Weldon to be able to have breakfast at 11:30 when it worked for Cindy and still be available to my daughter after school. I don't think Cindy really wants a friend. She has shown no interest in getting to know me. I think she has labeled me, put me in neat box, and that's where she wants to keep me. Everyone's time is important, however they choose to spend it, and one should respect that when given the priceless gift of time.

Mario and Ramona were nice to pick me up to get me to Brooklyn. You all know by now I am geographically challenged. That's my theme! I really like to stay within walking distance of my home. Always have.

Don't you just love my Foxy Brown hat at dance class? I have had it for more than 15 years. I keep my clothes, shoes, and hats in mint condition. I consider good quality clothing an investment. Cesar Gaviria, my friend who helps style me appreciates my vintage closet! Oh, and the leopard coat is from Zara. I love that store. Don't you?

Maybe LuAnn after seeing us dance the Dougie is happy that we didn't make it to her video!?! LOL!

Kelly is smart she always drops in and then leaves early. Poor Jill is stuck for the whole video alone. I know she really wanted me there as she said for her own selfish reasons but I really have to pick and choose what I can do these heavy days. The girls know I am managing an awful lot. 10 years old is the best age and my little girl loves her time with me now. I find it so hard juggling everything at times and to still have me time as well! We can't be there for others if we don't take care of ourselves first. Thanks for watching and as you see my lovely friend Natalie Cole is on next Thursday. She is amazing to do this for LuAnn's special celebration with Jacques, for our viewers, and for RHONY. Love you Natalie, you look better than ever, and sing like a bird.

Sonja: Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously

Sonja explains why she and Ramona are family, why she's hiring Aviva, and why LuAnn is still her friend.

At this point, I am numb to the whole BookGate debate. I am not on anyone's side, I just hope that both books are bestsellers and that Carole and Aviva are making enough money to pay the bills with their books because BookGate has definitely taken an emotional toll on their friendship. I know that they were close and had great times together. In fact, Carole was once the godmother to Aviva's daughter. How can this come between them? Such contention over the accusations! I don't know why they let it get so heated. It's not worth it! I just hope that they can forgive each other at some point. As you get to know someone, you get to see their strengths and weaknesses -- and you have to accept those if you're going to be friends.

I was surprised when the girls laughed at me discussing my ability to forgive and voicing my Christianity. I think that it is one of the reasons that I can live my own life and not worry about everyone else's or the grass being greener. It's all relative. We are on Earth for such a short time. I am enjoying every day of my life. I am grateful for the family and friends that I have and my beautiful daughter.

I have so much more than many other people, and I remind myself of that every day with the charity work that I do. That's why I feel so much more comfortable working with artists, animals, the LGBT, and children. It's such a sensitive, caring, and loving place to be. I love my Sonja In The City event planning business because it lets me be me -- an artist and a promoter -- while helping others reach their highest capabilities. Plus I get to do all that while helping me get my daughter through school in a stable environment. It keeps me connected to the movers and shakers who help me manage my investments. I love to produce and to contribute. It makes me feel good.

I believe some of the women fail to take me seriously because I only show them my party side. There is a private side to me that most people don't see, because they only see me out at social events and while I'm entertaining. I throw a lot of events, so a lot of people only see that side, as it's my business and the way I broker some of my deals.

It is amazing how moms like Heather find strength to do dealing with their children's issues, like her son's health and hearing loss. It's what we do with loved ones. We do it with marriage partners too! I surprised myself when my ex had a terrible accident and I was called upon to deal with all of the doctors, therapists, and financial advisors.

I dont feel that Ramona called Aviva vile. She said that she had a vile side. That's different!

I'm not upset that Ramona spoke behind my back about my financial problems. She's human, and I spoke my feelings then and we worked through it the way that family does. We have too much water under the bridge to let opinions or men get in between us.

Heather questioning the legitimacy of my friendship with Ramona is just silly. She knows that we have been friends forever and whatever I have said about Ramona I have told her to her face. Heather knows this very well -- since I'm very upfront about my feelings with her.

The girls saying that Aviva's leg throw was staged is silly. I let Aviva know that everyone was saying she was fake. Even if she plans to throw it on the table to make a point, that doesn't make it staged. It just means she was pushed to a limit. I thought she was hilarious. After all, it was a private party in the back room. We weren't in the actual restaurant. Aviva doesn't go around throwing her leg around in normal restaurant situations. Maybe she and I should take her act on the road! A real dog and pony show! I always said I was a performer, a comedian, and a producer. At my Sonja In The City parties, now we can include Aviva as part of the show!

My overall thoughts of the season was that the reunion had more drama. I felt the season flip-flopped around quite a bit. Harry and I will always have a very strong relationship, just as Ramona and Aviva will always be in my life. Aviva's son Harrison is like my family.

Ramona was definitely going through something this season. I let her know I was upset, but I can't change her and she can't change me. We accept each other the way we are and we work our differences out.

I didn't know LuAnn was going through a breakup. She never shared that with me, and I was getting upset that she wasn't trusting my friendship and was blaming me for everything. I didn't give any credence to any of the rumors that were going around town through the salon that Satoko worked at. Kristen and I just asked the facialist to tell us for fun. I can't stop LuAnn from running out of parties with my guys -- just like I can't stop Harry from taking off and leaving me because he knows I want commitment and he wants to fool around. But that doesn't mean LuAnn's not my friend and that I can't speak my mind in front of her, and it doesn't mean that Harry isn't someone that I love as well.

I hope that you found the season entertaining. I hope that you don't take yourself too seriously! And when the naysayers back you into the corner, just say what Glinda the Good Witch said to the Wicked Witch of the West "Be off with you, your black magic doesn't work here!"
