Sonja Morgan

On a Lighter Note

Sonja shares her heartbreak over the financial troubles -- and the way her so-called friends reacted.

Jun 16, 2011

Well this is a tough episode for me as it brings back all the emotion I went through when I filed my Chapter 11 and when it became public I was battling a $7 million judgement against me by a movie producer for a film that was never made. I was advised by my lawyers to file to protect my assets. I have a lot of outstanding business, my assets tied up in divorce, and needed some time to sort it out. Never in my life did I imagine being in this situation. I pay my credit cards in full every month -- as well as all my bills and mortgages. I have stellar credit, so it was a scary move for me.

On a lighter note I am so happy to see the ladies catching up with their guys and romancing. Ramona looks amazing in the red slip. I don't know how she does it all. Alex cracks me up with her long sexy dresses and giving just a peek a boo peek of her skin. Her and Simon are very close, and it shows.

Whew! Glad that scandal is cleared up by Mario right off the bat. The only other woman in his life is Avery. I love LOVE. I want everyone to be happy and healthy.

I was asked by Jill to take pics since I wasn't riding a camel -- and yes, I did cut Cindy out them. One of the reasons I was shaky and didn't feel well enough to ride was because Cindy that very morning had sic'ed herself on me at the souk, of all places. Mustapha had just warned us to be careful, and she was distracting me. She says I was screaming at her in the van ride the night before -- which never happened, I don't scream at people. I tried to break the ice between her and Ramona and made some light self-deprecating jokes. She really got on my last nerve, so I didn't go out of my way to get the last camel in every pic -- but I did get some nice pics. It was just beautiful in the desert with all the rusty colors highlighted by the sunset. I thought everyone dressed so beautifully for the ride.

I love Jill when she says "Can I pick out what YOU like?" to Bobby. Best Housewife line ever. I used to represent a custom tailor from Italy, and I would meet celebrity, and powerset clients in LA and NY to order from him, so I know the routine of picking from the luxurious bolts of fabric. You know me, I have a taste for luxury, and luxury has a taste for me! I think Jill is hilarious putting her initials on her husbands clothes. Very smart.

Sonja, you are by far my favorite! You are so much fun and don't engage in all the drama. If you got something to say about somebody, you say it to them. You could teach The "Countess" about Class. Good Luck with everything. Love ya

I think Jill was just trying to help you. I think you ladies are way to hard on her.

One of the reasons you cut Cindy out was because you were shaky and didn't feel well, but in your commentary I thought you did it on purpose and you owned it.

Love Sonja. So true about the attack at Jill's party-but then that is Jill. Why on earth would anyone discuss that in public? Well, I guess we shall have to ask the "Countess" to find out how THAT is classy?

I think you and Alex and Ramona are wrong about Jill and her intent on asking you all of those questions. She is just the type of person to ask questions and be nosey, she owns that. She even asked a million questions on the trip in Morocco. She's not doing it to be hurtful or rude or gang up on you - she is just that way. She wanted to try and figure out what was going on so that she could offer advice and give her two cents. She's not a "here's a huge, does this help?" kind of person. She wants to give you more than that. She may not always be right (clearly), but she does have good intentions.

While this episode might have been hard for you, it was the first time this season that you've been likable. You've been putting on so many airs over this season that it's hard to see the nice, down-to-earth working woman from Saratoga Springs. That woman is neat. The woman who insists on claiming that she's made brioche for Churchills in her toaster oven is not.

You are a wonderful person, hey we all make mistakes and it is wrong for someone to sit there and list what you have or don't have. You remained poised and well collected while Jill was going through things and is not easy. You will rise from this...... stay positive!

Go girl, you have a positive attitude you will be ok. I wish you the best!! You, Ramona and Alex are my favorite.

How can you be mad at Jill for talking about your financial situation when Alex brought it up right when you walked in the door????? I'm confused on who your "so called friends" are too. Anyway, I like you Sonja but your making me wonder about you this season.

Love you...I'm truly sorry you are going through some issues, & those you trusted have proved to be unworthy! Thumbs up to you! My friends & I are here to support you. Glad Ramona is a good friend to you...

Love that you cut Cindy out of the pictures. Hilarious moment!!

Perhaps Jill was saying that's how 'they' got 19 mil, not her. She may have been explaining the media's error.

Sonja - You're the star of this silly show - funny, beautiful, kind hearted, but a tiny bit wicked. Money issues -blah blah blah. Who cares - join the club. No matter - you know it will all be fine. Love watching you on the TV.

Sonja - You're the star of this silly show - funny, beautiful, kind hearted, but a tiny bit wicked. Money issues -blah blah blah. Who cares - join the club. No matter - you know it will all be fine. Love watching you on the TV.

I hope things work out for you. You seem so nice and positive.

Stay strong and good luck with everything!

Love you Sonja, and Cindy deserved to be cut out of the pictures.

Oh God, no wonder honey. You are a smart cookie with an amazing personality. You will be fine. Stay with the blondes. Love you.

Keep ur chin up girl...ur gonna make it!

I like you Sonja. I know you are not perfect. None of us is. But you are one of the good girls. I thank you and Alex for being the fun, kind people in a sea of petty kooks. :D

Sonja, hold your head up, you'll recover just fine. As for the nosey housewives who pretend to have your best interests at heart, direct them to the nearest short pier for their long, long walk. Lastly, fantastic job with the camera!!

As you were, I was surprised as well that Alex was the first one to bring up your bankruptcy by saying she saw it in the Wall Street journal. Had she did that privately no one else, including Jill, would have been going on and on with their thoughts. Alex is doing a lot of jumping in where she is not needed and stirring the pot. It was also not Alex's place to bring up your bankruptcy conversation to Ramona nor Alex's place to make sure Ramona heard about Jill's not extending an invite. Seems this season and going forward, Alex is the chosen one to stir the pot behind everyones backs. I'm sure you make enough monies outside the bankruptcy to protect yours and yours daughters home, etc., but wish you the best.

Love love love you Sonja!! That was really too much that some people acted like your bankruptcy was an entertaining subject to chat about! GH! Some people have no empathy. You look great and are always upbeat and funny. Keep it up!

I love you on the show. You are down to earth and a fresh breath of air. Hope you get your financial issues fixed.

I'm so sorry for your financial pain. I can't even imagine having my personal business made so public at such a painful time. Just want you to know that there are people out in the world who know what you are going through and thinking good thoughts for your success.

Hang in there sweetie. It will get better.

Sonia, you're strong Nd resilient. You are a fighter and an amazing women and mom. Take that strength and go forward to the future of positive thing. F#### the rest of people's opinions. Love and blessings, S. Iba

Sonja, you are a class act and I am truly sorry for your troubles, you make me laugh and realize that regardless of how much money ( or lack of it) there is a way to conduct yourself in life.

These women are not your friends by any means. As much as I adore Ramona, I wouldn't discuss your finances with her either. The ONLY decent person on this god forsaken show besides yourself is Alex. Ramona is a character for sure but lacks loyalty and substance. Alex is true blue till the end. You can trust her sweet girl. God bless you sweet Sonja.

Sonja, my heart goes out to you and your daughter. Keep your chin up. On another note, you are so fun to watch!

Wishing you all the best life has to offer. Ditto what Ramona said, u r a smart, strong woman. U will get through this.

Sonja, I can't believe Jill brought up your finances like that. How rude! Hang in there. I know you have the elusive "it" factor. That is a great asset. It's hard to reinvent yourself, but you will do it. I have faith in you! I'm sending you light and good wishes.

D.

Sonya...I hope your financial situation will turn around for you. You are by far the one housewife that I can most identify with..Kelley is pitifully crazy...and I wish that someone would stuff a sock in LuAnn's mouth and put her in her place...I cannot believe that those two could continue filming if they ever sat down and watched themselves as we viewers do. They probably do, actually.... SCARY. The rest of the cast are tolerable for the most part.

I really liked you the first season. But the way you acted with Cindy was really out of character. A peking order.

I think that Kelly (for once) is right. You married money and now you keep living like you have that money.

This season your self confidence to not wear panties and tell the world. In addition to your DUI (if you are so freaking rich get a taxi or driver), and all your boy toys you are coming off as a very classless person.

Interesting how you and Ramona have become such good friends when it was Lou Ann.

Did you catch the comments of sweet little Kelly about you? Not so nice.

I have watched the excess of the housewives (all cities) and the recession is hitting the rich, middle class and poor. But you seem to not stop spending.

I guess I have to know how much they want you to fight for the show success. And how much money you get to make yourself look like a possible alcoholic.

I don't feel sorry for you. You have lived a very privilged life and flaunt it. Luxary you may like...but you may not be able to continue to afford.

Throwing around I've been here and I can get us in there, etc. is sickening when I learn you are bankrupt. Manhatten is to big of a place to be a fish. It is far to big of a pond.

I hope all works out for you financially and personally. I love watching you!

love you sonja..you are one classy lady

My prayers are with you and I know that you will get through this mess. Keep your chin up. You are one class act.

Love you! That's all I can say. You are easy to relate to and so much fun. Good and bad, I enjoy your presence on the show! Keep doing you!

You never like to hear of someone having a financial hardship. However, in your case it is pretty ironic. Hopefully this situation will make you a bit more humbler and perhaps you won't walk around thinking you have it all or you're the best at everything. I've always said that people who have money don't talk about it, because they just don't care!

I admire you! Classy all the way!

Sonja I wish you the best of luck as you sort out your financial issues. You are a class act, and a sparkle on this show. I loved that you owned not including Cindy in the photos. Own it. Move on. Next.

Sonja, I know you will bounce back from all the chaos that is happening to you. You have great friends in Alex and Ramona! You can see they really care about you. I wish you all the best! You deserve it!

I love you sonja! Thanks for not trying to cover up the truth and admitting your faults and mistakes! You are the best housewife EVER! Good luck to you and if I had lots of money I would help you!

Sonja keep your chin up. Life does have a way of sometimes taking an unexpected turn and I hope this glich in your financial well being is just that a glich. Romona and Alex seem to really care about you and want to give you support without offering finacial advice. That is a good thing for you, so keep them close to you. You are probably getting more than your share of advice right now and it is hard to sort it all out. I hope all goes well with your life from now on. Stay away from people that stress you, you do not need them right now in your life. Take care.

I thought I was the only one who caught Jill's expert opinion and went, huh?? Must be some new math. You have nothing to be embarrassed about. Any one of these ladies could easily end up in the same boat (if not for their husband's $$$)

Sonja, I am terribly sorry to hear what you are going through. But I do have to laugh when you admitted to purposely cutting out Cindy. Little did she realize her rude and inappropriate behavior will have consequences!! I LOVE IT! It sounds like something I would do.

You are a strong person Sonya and you will get through this financial sitation and move one. However, DO NOT talk to Jill about your finances. First of all she should have never brought up your finances at the focal group meeting. Howrude of her. That was not the time nor the place. Secondly, if you discuss the details of your finances with Jill, you and I and the rest of the world know that she will be sharing that information with the rest of the "I am better than you girls", Luann, Kelly and Cindy.

Stay strong Sonya.

Love that you cut Cindy out of the pictures! I laughed out loud. Sounds like something I would do. Just hang on and you will recover from these financial troubles. I am sure of it. I love the sexy sassyness that is Sonja Morgan!

Sonja you have become one of my favorite housewives. You keep me laughing every week with your honesty!

Hang in there...I know it must be very difficult for you right now. Everything is hoing to be fine. Good luck!
