First Impressions

Carole reveals what she thought of each of the ladies when they met at Sonja's party.

Jun 4, 2012

Ramona toasted to bashert. What is bashert anyway? It sounds like a stain on your blouse. Heather said it’s about fate, that makes sense. I think we all were fated to meet up in this cosmic Haley's-Comet-gone-wrong little world, don’t you?

Since I missed the Hamptons, I asked the girls to lunch to fill me in. LuAnn was so wound up she forgot to drink her coffee! After she left, the three rookies -- me, Heather, Aviva -- vowed to not be mean. Let’s see how that goes.

After watching this first episode, there are five things you should have learned. Luann knows other languages, Aviva has three legs, Heather talks fast, Ramona reads fast, Sonja played pool with Eric Clapton and most important of all...I love kids.

Did I mention I love kids?

Ciao!

(I got that from Google translate. It means “Goodbye.”)

Oh, by the way, I wrote a book called What Remains. You can find it here.

Carol, after the trip to that beautiful island you so graciously asked these ladies to share with you, I am even more perplexed than I have been all season as to how you ended up with these loud and self- absorbed women. You can't be enjoying them. You might rightfully ask why I am watching this show. :) My husband thinks I'm insane. I think I am just fascinated; they are like an alien breed to me. I certainly exclude you. I get it. You are a little shy and very sweet. Take care.

Yes,

thank you Carol not only are you a refreshing change to our guilty New York housewives obsessions /pleasure, but after having  read  your book (what remains) this summer, I wan't to say that I personally discovered something that I would describe as unifying.  It was, and you are truly inspiring.

I liked your book a lot..read it before I knew you were a "Housewife"..I've had a challenging year and wanted to read books by strong women..yours gave me hope about many things. Thank you ever so much!

Best RH blog post I have ever read! I'm an instant fan after reading this. Can't wait to see more of you this season.

Only one episode and I like you already, and I hope you keep up the no mean plan. Be nice and you'll always win admiration. Also keep up the blog, I'm going to bookmark it.

PS I used to live in the W Village too!

Hmmm....so far, I like you...let's hope you don't disappoint like most of the other crazy broads on these shows.

You are a hoot. How refreshing to have a lady as intelligent as yourself who doesn't take herself too seriously. I will be staying tuned for your upcoming blogs

You are such a welcome addition. Your blog is hilarious and you obviously are educated...I am so excited for more of you!

You are simply adorable!!

Oh I'm in love with you just from your blog. A housewife with a sense of humor! There are so few of you. I am going straight for your book.

Your blog is entirely too long!

You are way too classy for this show.

you're right, ramona is a hoot....the brunette is out to get her.....hope you don't get caught up in her, the brunette's, drama.....she's great at twisting the truth....still don't get her agenda and it's actually a good thing. i think i like you....hope i'm right....i want to like you.

funniest housewife blog to date hahaha love you already!!

I read your book, thank you so much for that. You seem like an incredible woman and I wish you the best of everything!

Hilarious!! Carole, you are officially my new favorite housewife, ok you're in my top 3.

Enjoyed your interpretation of tonight's episode..... Looking forward to reading your books!

So far you're okay. LOL.

I appreciated that you said "allegedly" after Luann's story about Ramona calling her ... keep that attitude and you'll come out on top at the reunion.

Carole you are hilarious! Your blog is right up there with reading Hugh Acheson's Top Chef blogs. Going off of first episode impressions I would have to say you are my new favorite of the New York bunch. I think you will be an excellent addition and breath of fresh air! Can't wait to see what this season has in store for you and the rest of the ladies.

You sound really smart and fun. Looking forward to seeing this season.

Carole, I have missed watching Bethenny on the show and vowed never to watch again. But I somehow found myself programming the DVR and there you were (cue the choir). The show had its funny bone amputated a couple of seasons ago and I'm glad your there to restore it.

Hope I am speaking to the correct housewife. I am also a widow, my husband died in our bed from a heart attach. I appreciate your discussion regarding widow rules, however we don't all live in NYC. Perhaps you could broaden your knowledge pool. Sorry..but me and my 12 year old son are struggling. Any advice?

I love your blog!! What a creative way to write:) Very entertaining and I look forward to you in future episodes.

Love, love loving, love to love, love kids. Too. :) I'm very excited for this season. You (and the other new housewives) bring life into this season. I could have done with you lowering yourself to do a story on the Kardashians. Ick.

What I meant, I was very interested in checking out your book before I saw you were going to write an article on the Kardashians. Is there not anything you could do an article on? You just seem to be lowering yourself. Ew.

Carole, it was so interesting to see you on the show. I read your book when it came out and recently re-read it before I passed it along to a friend. Your story was so wonderfully, poignantly told. I have since lost one family member to cancer and seen another through three different kinds of cancer. It touches us all. You are an inspiration to me.

Thank you for joining the cast of the RHoNY. You, as well as Heather and Aviva seem like great choices to join the existing housewives and I can't wait to watch the rest of the season.

I officially love you!

Love you on this show. Love your blog!

Best addition to the cast out of the three. Of course I say that after one show, Carole. Don't hold me to it!

You call it like you see it and don't act like a mean high school chick. And you're funny on top of it. All good.

"Can you see my ti**?"

Carole, You are lovely and charming and smart and witty and I am so scared for you!!!

These women are going to sharpen their jungle red claws and try to drag you down to their level, where they can tear you to shreds. They won't be satisfied until they get you to blow up on cameral and have an ugly scene. Oh, the mendacity!

PS you remember what the victory is for a cat on a hot tin roof, don't you?

I read "What Remains" when it came out and thought it was beautifully written and poignant. What struck me the most is how you did not exploit the Kennedy name or family. You told a beautiful story from your point of view. Good Luck on the Housewives - with that crew, you are going to need it!

I like you, Carole! You are smart, funny and "cool as a cat". I read your book and loved it. I hope you don't change at all as the season goes on.

Seeing you in the first episode, I'm looking forward to getting to know an intelligent woman who has a filter and tons of class!

Haha! Don't we all love kids! I didn't have my children until a bit later in life so I can totally see where you are coming from. Personally, I don't find discussing kids boring at all. It let's me know that my kids whom I sometimes think are CRAZY are indeed perfectly normal. We compare notes then take a deep breath glad that maybe just maybe this is the way kids are and we as parents aren't warping them...it's nice to have back up.

What a great addition to the show! Finally someone who is smart and witty- and LOVES KIDS!!

WOW! Love the way you write...SMART and FUNNY. BTW, I also read your book and love kids too. What a small world.

Very funny blog.... looking forward to more.

Can't wait to see more of you this season, but truly can't wait to read your blog each week. Fabulous and fun recap!

OMG. Not a fan. Please say thats your only appearance

Wow....so far loving your BLOG.....hope I continue to like you on the show.
