SoulCycle and Jake's Legs
I have this crazy metabolism. It's an unsolved mystery of my life, this weird ability I have to eat pizza and M&Ms and still bike at easy levels. It's how I know there's a God. It's a miracle. Usually when I feel the urge to exercise I lay down and it passes. Don't hate me, God is fair, he gave me a bunch other issues.
Jake, though, is why my soul is healthy and intact. Jake is good for the soul, he's better than SoulCycle. I'm not sure if the cameras captured his spirit, but it was more exalted than any of those sweaty cyclists at the event. This is why you make the extra effort. Because then you don't miss the chance to witness something extraordinary. You think it all might happen with fanfare and pomp but it happens in the quiet moments, sometimes, when you're just showing up for your friends.

Hello, I wanted to drop a note and say that you amaze me, I had no idea the cards that were handed to you in life, and even the high metabolism does not balance your strength, character, and the way you treat people. Thank you for showing how women can be funny, intelligent and real. Take Care Tina
Carole, does it really take an intellectual to rise above? Cannot women, like you all, represent and have the differences that divide you be less than what you all might have in common? I can't help but think that the impact for good you all could make- for anything- kids, women with cancer, or single moms that are abused, ANYTHING? I don't know why I am surprised, it is a reality TV show.... afterall.
Just a parting thought, I have never met anyone who was really smart, tell me or anyone, how smart they are and how much they think they "know". Have you?
You would be doing your friend Aviva, a favor....by telling her to find a modicum of decorum and not try and convince the world how "smart" and "accomplished" she thinks she is....Wow! That was rich.
Good luck to you.
Carole, you are the only one with brains on this show! Ramona and Sjonia are just idiots! Can barely tolerate them!
Carole- love you on this show. Where was the sweater from that you were wearing at the crazy lunch at Ramona's house? Loved it! Need it!
So funny when you whispered to your boyfriend that the girls are always fighting and you don't even know what they're fighting about. It's the Loud Family. LOL!
Carole - I must agree with so many other people who have commented what a breath of fresh air your intelligence, humor and calm in a sea of hormones & wine are. Your addition to RHONY is the best of all the Housewives shows. It is interesting how someone who dispassionately observes the crazy drama can become so much more interesting than the drama queens (and countesses). Hope you stay. Good luck on your new book, and keep writing your hilarious, insightful blog!
You have a soul, a conscience and substance...3 things I have yet to see ANY of the "Housewives" envelope. I'm not quite sure why I continue to watch the show... but I am so happy to have stuck it out so I can "meet" you. As native New Yorker living in Santa Cruz, Ca. I watch films and shows that take place in NYC because I miss it so (do fly out once-twice a year) I have never read one of these blogs nor have I ever cared what these women think... however you are different .. and I thank you for sharing your insights, your wisdom and your vast and interesting experiences. You are a true gem!
Carole you are so funny and give the show a wonderful new spin. I love all your comments but then you know just when to sit back and watch everything unfold. You are just darling with a great spirit. You crack me up with your very insightful remarks and you truly have an A+ personality.
You're awesome Carole. You bring reason and sanity to all the calamity that goes on. Thank goodness for Carole. :) Muah! xoxo
Carole - You are my favorite on this show... you're smart, funny, and just a real pleasure to watch every week. I enjoy reading your blog too!
Carole, I think you are marvelous. I love your wit and I totally agree with you that, for the most part, this is a bunch of bored housewives acting without much intelligence. I find this a shame as they all have businesses which they manage very successfully...maybe it's their way to blow off steam! I would LOVE to go to St. Bart's. I've never been and cannot afford to vacation in such a beautiful location. So I will live vicariously through you while you relax!!
I also want to add that I hope you continue to stay with the show as I love the way you have ALL of these women figured out!
Thank you for bringing honest dignity to some of the self absorbed, think they are some kind of special fools on this show. You are wonderful to listen to - from a widow, mother, self employed person. Thanks from Michigan.
You are such a breathe of honest fresh air on the show, but honestly I have no idea of how you do it. I grew up always wanting to be able to afford to live in Manhattan, a dream that never came true for me. Instead I grew in a trailer park in Baltimore, joined the Navy and stayed for 30 years and now retired in my small little modest home. I can honestly say that with my background, I now look at some of the "ladies" of NYC I feel that I am much better off. How you can tolerate their antics, drama and behaviors is beyond me. My friends from the trailer park were and still are much better behaved, and certainly more loyal as a friend.
I love your remarks, and your blogs, you certainly are a hell of lot classier than the others, thank you,
As a native New Mexican, I'm doing my annual pilgrimage to Santa Fe from Oregon. That's my annual vacation most years. My family helped found The City Different.
Ever been there, Carole?
Carole, you crack me up. You're witty, intelligent and you make the show SO much more interesting to watch than those self-centered, lunatic women. I'm happy you joined the show!
I didn't like you at first, but you won me over with your intelligence and wit. You are the first person on this show to whom I could relate. Subtle self-complement. You are the voice of reason among a group of self-obliterating grandiophiles. I just invented that word for you. Love.
Carole, I love reading your blog. You have the best perspective on things! I suppose it comes from being a real person unlike some of your co-stars.
Carole, I can't believe how you can ignore all the stupid unfiltered comments some of these women say especially Romona wish someone had enough balls to tell Ramona off. Can you do that please would be an interesting episode watch!
I love your sense of humor. I enjoy watching how laid back you are and calmly stand with all the chaos going on around you. I just wish you'd tone it down on the liberal democrat lecturing. Isn't there one show we can watch without getting a political arm twisting?
I'm pretty sure I had the same look on my face as you did watching Ramona and Sonja give their bogus excuses to Aviva. I don't understand them, but their antics sure make for good TV. Love reading your blogs, your writing and wit are equally fantastic!!
You are very funny and, as usual, understand the insanity surrounding you. I try to believe this isn't "scripted" ...or at least "situationally-set-up", but it's hard to believe these women ~ with the exception of you~ lead successful lives and haven't been institutionalized for excessive inappropriate behavior.
Loved the taxi driver note...I never comment except to you! Hope your book is coming out soon. I must continue to watch to see the ultimate train wreck I know is on the horizon.
Great blog. I enjoyed your thoughts and insights. There's one conclusion you've reached that I'm not sure is correct. There are no intended jokes with these women. If you're laughing inside, it's because you see humor in everything. Enjoy your private laughter. Ramona decided to bond a little with Luann because she can't keep too many hate balls in the air at the same time. Right then, she was p.o'd at Heather (from ep 1) and has only so much venom to spew. I appreciate your lighter tone and ironic flow to the situations, though.
Love the line "when I feel the urge to exercise I lay down and it passes". It gave me a good chuckle. I may need to borrow that one:)
"But as he was writing it down in the notepad that Ramona advised him to use, he ran a red light. It wasn't his fault because he was looking at the notepad so he couldn't see the light change from yellow to red."
Looking at a notepad instead of the traffic signals doesn't clear him of guilt... it was still his fault!
I'm really glad you were there to calm things down at lunch.
I hope that you stay on the show. Ramona says that she says what others are thinking but as for me, I feel you are speaking for many viewers. You can look and see just how crazy these people are and you can laugh with them as we laugh at them.
I really love your blogs! Plus as an addition to the RHNY, you are the best! Clever writing and behavior.
You are normal with a capital N - which I didn't use because it would have been redundant to then say capital N...love your book, love your posts, love your snarkiness...
Carole, I vowed to quit watching reality TV as it is mindless and a total waste of my time on earth. But I can't help but watch RHONYC for your reactions alone.
Carole----I've been around crazy, rich woman who are so miserable with their lives that all they do is argue and backstab. I guess you can call it gossip when I "report back" to my more grounded friends whose lives revolve around picking their children up from daycare or soccer practice, but i do it anyway. At least you have a video to show the world and dont have to reenact with the hopes that you have left nothing out. These women are unbelievable.....you handle them with grace......BRAVO!!
Carole - you had the best line of the show. Ramona WAS ACTING CRAZY. I'm so glad you confirmed it, so Heather doesn't feel like she's in the twilight zone.
So true about thinking there is always going to time ... I recently experienced that when someone I loved very much passed away without warning. The worst part is that we were on the outs and I always thought there would be time to make amends. Sadly there was not. A regret I will have until the day that I pass. I am so sad, but I have learned a very valuable lesson. Never go to bed angry and always make peace with those you may not be at peace with. Love your blogs and hope that you can hang in there for another season on the show and find the humor in it all. In the big picture these women come off as just silly. Ramona and her double standards, Luann and her improper properness, Sonja and a toaster oven??? Really? The jury is stlll out on Heather and Aviva for me. I am definitely a fan of Heathers. Aviva comes off as a fixer of other peoples problems with a little bit of pot stirrer mixed in... When reading your blog I feel like ok, she gets it. This is exactly what I was thinking... lol.. So I'm not the only one who feels this way about what I just watched... lol.... Love the way you express yourself without coming off as mean and having an agenda. Happy belated birthday! Stay true to yourself and happy!
omG I just saw the photo of your dog, he is FABULOUS!
Obviously I am a dog nut and a mid 40's gal w/ no kids who loves my own dogs a bit too much, well, never enough!
Also as an upstate living, ex downtown (lower east side since early 80's when i ran away to nyc at 16, childless and fine w/ it, art loving mid 40's bad ass) I appreciate the addition of you the most on the show (she reads!)
So being a bullmastiff owner I flipped at this photo!
Is he great dane and boxer cross or mastiff cross?
In any case he is gorgeous and we should see him in more shots as opposed to all these little yapper designer bag dogs (not the dogs fault I know).
Clearly I am not a writer and love a run on sentence..
I will keep watching if your contract is renewed.
I laughed at some of your comparisons... Ramona/LuAnn -- Yassar/YitzHak analogy ... I am still giggling .... I laughed at the "exnay about the god-day" .... Very funny comparisons and analogies. BUT ... the best part of this was your closing... it made me cry.... You captured the essence of "greatness" ... JAKE ..... Good Blog! You are definitely one classy lady!
A dream to read your blogs. You see the light in everything, as it should be! Life is too short. Hopefully your charm will rub off on a few members of the cast, & even the viewers:-)
You are the voice of reason in the sea of insanity on this program. Which probably means you won't return for another season. I hope you get out while you still have all your wits and your awesome sense of humor! Thanks for writing what the rest of us are thinking!
I think Sonja's gay intern that she boards with her incontinent animals deserves a name. Personally, I like the Marble Faun.
@Donna1019 Donna, don't sell your life short. you probably are way happier than 80percent of this franchise put together. and 100 percent happier than anyone on New Jersey,
I enjoy Carol, too, but I agree with you about the lecturing- and I don't belong to any political party, either!
I believe Carole's dog is female. You can always tell women without children...they give their dogs the names they might have named their children had they given birth. Margaret is definitely one of those names. Such a people name.
I on the other had have 5 children and my pets are appropriately named: Puck, Bushel and Duncan.....two cats and a dog....with silly names. My kids all have good solid Irish names. You can't even Squeeze a nickname out of them. Separation between church and state in my home.
@lemisanthrope Marble Faun could work. At this point I am sure he would not want his real name used. This whole story of Sonja's left me embarrassed for everyone involved. And I think this unpaid intern deserves hazard pay if those are his working conditions. Definitely something to keep off his resume!
what the heck is up w/ the intern laying in the wet bed w/sonja and an incontinent
dying:( dog.one heck of a dude Marble Faun sounds good
