Season 4
Season 3
Season 2
Season 1
Back uptown, no one is feeding Sonja. (There is a theme emerging in this episode, of hungry women and their arduous quests for food.) Sonja Morgan does a star turn in this episode as Blanche DuBois. How does she wake up looking like that? I bet it has everything to do with Millsaps. I'm stealing Millsaps. I want a bosomy Southern intern, I want one for everyone. I think if everyone had Millsaps the economy wouldn't have collapsed, we’d all be titled 100 percenters and gross national blood pressure would be down. Instead of asking Mario and Jacques if they have a brother, I should be asking if Millsaps has a sister. Is that a crumb tray in Sonja's bed? Hurricanes, dogs, electrical work, missing light bulbs. . .with all of that, how can Sonja find time to answer a phone? Except for royalty. Royalty leave a message. Beep.
In the first moment of this episode, I have a character flaw. Fine. I talked behind Heather's back about her talking so much in front of us. I also did a strange urban handshake thing with Ramona, I had low blood sugar. But in the last scene, I have a much more serious flaw involving fashion. You know what I'm talking about.
What. Am. I. Wearing?
I swear, the cape dress, the bunned hair, all looked cool in real life -- but on-screen I look like the love child of Princess Leia and Darth Vader! I look like I raced over to Sonja's Social Life party straight from a Star Wars Convention, and with apparently no time to change. And unfortunately, because I stayed so long at the Star Wars Convention, I missed the drama at this party. All of it!
Quick Princess sidebar: There's been a lot made of the Countess and the Princess. Title title blah title blah Princess Countess blah. I call LuAnn, "LuAnn" and she doesn't seem to mind. Sonja calls her "Countess" and she doesn't seem to mind that either. (By the way, I looked up Borghese and it IS the name of a cosmetics company. I told you!)
I do not call myself or ask anyone else to call me Princess. I used it for the tag line in the show, but that was in fun -- I couldn't resist the word play. I married a man who had a title, but that doesn't represent who I am. My identity comes from what I've earned in my life. I'm as All-American as they come -- a product of the American Dream, really, and I'm proud of that. I respect my late husband's legacy and the legacy of his family. They have a rich and storied history that goes back centuries and is an integral part of their country. But that belonged to Anthony and his family, not to me.
I think all of guys talk a lot on the show and you guys talk to much about Heather. She fresh air for the show. Ramona talks more then Heather does.
You crack me up! And that is a supreme compliment. I was done with the RHNYC but tuned in the first night and you hooked me! Just bought your book and am absorbed kindling. I love your sense or humor ~ humility~honesty~ and talent rise you head and shoulders above the others! Downtown works! You are great!
Carole.... You are the bomb! O.M.G. I just can not believe how real.. humble... and funny u are. I can totally relate to u... It's like you're one of my homegirls and were chattin it up about last weeks episode over lunch! BRAVO, Bravo!
Carole, I thought you were so funny when you were on your date. Also, I love that you have a different clothing style then the other women. I think you always look good. As far as talking behind Heather's back, no big deal. Its not bad to say someone talks alot. I say that to my friend all the time. Ramona talks as much or even more then Heather. I don't blame Heather for not inviting Ramona, I wouldn't either. I give you credit for being able to spend time with her. She would drive me insane. I am so glad you are on the show. You are a breath of fresh air. Congrats on your pilot!
Amazing. Amazing. Please Bravo, we need more of this.
It's pretty clear from the responses that you are the one addition to the show that people really like and I must agree. You are a real kick and someone I feel I could really be great friends with. :)
O.M.G. I haven't ready anything as creative and intelligent from any housewife of any season or location. Clearly a talented writer! I've found my new favorite housewife! Yes!
O.M.G. This is the best entry I've had the pleasure to read of all housewives of any location. Clearly a writer and a damn good one at that. Hooray.
I ADORE YOU!
Carole, you are a breath of fresh air on the show since Bethenny's unfortunate departure from the New York Housewives. You seem to be genuine and your authentic self.
You have taken away one of the largest pleasures in my life: Feeling superior to all the Housewives because their blogs are borderline illiterate.
Oh well, I'll get over it, because you are a delight. Smart, humble, informed, good sense of humor -- are you sure you're a Real Housewife?
Carole I love watching you on the show. You are so down to earth and funny. Glad Bravo put you on the show.
Pretty is as pretty does. Girl you are pretty! Really though, one truly does become more beautiful, the kinder and more loving they are. You work your way through those housewives with a wit that leaves them all in the dust, and you do it so lovingly! So obviously all I noticed whilst your Stars Wars themed outing took place, was how pretty you looked, and the Party that so cruely taunted Ramona!
Carole is the best on the show! I, too, am attracted to crazy! lol Love the blog! <3
Carole, you are what RHONYC needed! Love love love your blogs!!! I thought you looked very glamorous at Sonja's party! Rock on girl!
You had me rotflmao! You almost have me wanting to go back to school to get a Journalism degree so I may write as well as you! You are a breath of fresh air and a great addition! Your "rules" are spot on and apply with real life, too! Please, keep up the light hearted blogs!
I adore! The writer in me appreciates the writer in you :)
You respect the title of Princess and Luann abuses the title of Countess.
Carole--love your blogs !! You have an entertaining way of sorting through all the nonsense on this show. Going out this weekend to buy your book.
My favorite Carol-line or Carolism of this blog is "Finally, Mario has to whisk Ramona off to the bathroom, where I can only assume he spritzed her with his calming Mario scent." LOL, Carol!! You're hilarious. Thanks for the much needed laugh. I'm catching up reading all your blogs today after Andy mention them on WWHL this week. I AM A FAN!!
I want to tell you that I do enjoy watching you on the show and your writings are entertaining. Kudos. However, I just have to respond to you comments regarding the OWS event you attended. You wrote, "Right now, in 2012, we are witnessing the greatest wage inequality our country has ever seen and no one knows how to fix it. I'm technically a part of that 1 percent now, but I grew up a 99-percenter. And you can take the girl out of the 99 perecent, but you can't take the 99 percent out of the girl. I get it." I can't help but to think your attendance at this event was more to increase your fan base than it was to really support the cause. I believe in capitalism and working hard for your large paycheck although I am considered middle class, not rich by any means and my husband's salary is now half of what it was 4 years ago. I also believe that the grossly paid polititans, celebrities and athletes who are in the top 1 percent, only pretend to care about this issue. I say either embrace your success and don't make the CEO's the bad guys or, if you feel compelled to help those with less success than you have achieved, try to live off a measly 100 thousand dollars a year (not measly to most) and donate everything else in your account to those in need. Don't bash the CEO's for the money they have made yet sit on your own pot of gold. Without the CEO's, we wouldn't have jobs. Our biggest problem right now is the economy and the fact that complanies are not growing, expanding, creating new products. They have spent 4 years downsizing so they don't go out of business. Fix the economy; show this country the light at the end of the tunnel and companies will feel the confidence to grow again and bring back the jobs they eliminated.
Sorry for the rant, but I can't sit back anymore listening to people who have the golden ticket blame CEO's with golden tickets for the problems in this country. If you want the CEO's to give up their golden ticket, you give up yours.
@Linky your are suffering from delusions....
Linky Wow!
Agreed, as much as I am thrilled about the thoughtful addition of Carole to the bunch, I am certain this comment gave her pause for thought and an added way of looking at it.
So happy you've joined The Housewives. You are by far the smartest gal in the group. Oops, I didn't mean that as a backhanded compliment. I'm sure The Countess is happy you're not using your title since Princess trumps Countess. And you and your husband had a real marriage unlike the one she had with Count-No-Account. I find Heather to be a nasty piece of work who is insufferably rude and a helicopter parent. Poor Ramona. She's a successful business woman with a loving husband and what appears to be a lovely daughter. I think she often means well. But just as LuAnn and Jill and wacko Kelly gunned to isolate Bethenny, LuAnn is rallying the troops to isolate Ramona. But we see how well that turned out. Cut yourself a break. You looked fab, as always, with your cape and your hair was cool. I've been to Zucotti Park and downtown for many rallies.....good on you girl. I wonder if the others even know about Occupy Wallstreet. If so, I'm sure they disapprove. Continue to be your charming, funny, smart and sexy self. And if anyone can put THE COUNTESS in her place it will be you. Ooh, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Bravo and the Housewives franchise is my guilty pleasure.....Carole, you make it not so guilty! I love your insight and intelligence and your great commentary - it's like watching with a great gal pal!
Thank you for bringing your humor to the RH series! Love to read your blogs!
It didn't take you long to become a mean girl did it?
Thanks Carole, great post!!
O and I diiiiid think your look was a little off star-wars wise haha but my first thought was how gorgeous you look with your hair swept back
Carole I read your blogs like I read the recaps on other sites to get a funny and intelligent take on the shows, I love your writing. I also think you're a great addition to the cast, and what's been missing since bethenny left - a voice of reason to make funny, interesting, and most importantly intelligent and dead-on comments on the show. You're extremely likable by staying out of the drama but liking to be around it/hear about it for the entertainment value and a few laughs. I love how you like Ramona even tho I think you are nothing alike. I also love your drama-free side stories - very interesting, different, and "sex and the city"-esque (I love Aerosmith, go girl!). Thank you Bravo and Carole!
kali_hwfan she has nothing to do w/ aerosmith and has said so herself.
and PLEASE dont compare this new great addition as having any resemblance to any of that horrible, insulting sex in the city non sense.
THAT show had alot to do with drawing countless young stupid chicks to nyc from small towns for the wrong reasons and stealing the soul and art from nyc.
As much as I like Carole, her "downtown" of now is not the downtown of only a few years ago when it really was filled w/ creative people, not just transplants who "go buy the downtown outfit".
Just remember what you promised in the first episode,
I am so happy that finally one of the "Housewives" actually have the ability to reflect. I can't wait to read more of your blog and analysis of this strange culture. I think the publicity that you gave to the Occupy Movement is wonderful. The Beverly Hills housewives have really helped the Occupy Movement. People are shocked and disgusted by the conspicuous consumption. With the amount of poverty in the country the "Let them eat cake" attitude is callous. When I traveled cross country I was at a gas station in North Dakota and they asked if I would contribute to their food bank. I gave them $20 and the cashier was so suprised at my generosity she came around the counter and shook my hand. A received a similiar reaction in Montana when I tipped the person who brought my room service $5.
I guess there is no limit to greed though. I understand that in Brazil there is a similiar show called Rich Women (translated). Can you imagine how this show plays in that poor country!
YOU are the MOST hysterical PERSON! Your blog had me totally laughing out loud this afternoon - THANK you for that!
Carole, thank you for being so intelligent and well-spoken and FUNNY! Your level of intellect that you convey both on the show and in your blog have helped me prove to my parents that everything on my favorite channel (bravo) is NOT trash...so there. Nicely done.
Carole,
What in the world are you doing on this show? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching you, it’s just that you seem a bit out of place with these wacko women. Oh well, I'm sure you know what you're doing!
I hope you read these comments because I wanted to tell you that I read your book recently and thought it was wonderful. I was so impressed by your honesty about how you dealt with the death of your husband. It was also nice to hear about your friendship with Carolyn Kennedy. It was a very loving tribute.
Stay strong and don't let these ladies drag you over to the dark side.
Peace,
SuziQ
We Love Carol. She's sexy, fun, delightful, kind, sweet & royally awesome. You are the epitome of the NYC girl... and yes... we all want to be like you. You are the girl that makes US Manhattan girls look good.... thanks for being you.
"Upper East Side water boarding"? God, I love you! Although Ramona seemed to be suffering from Upper East Side Pinot Boarding...
Your blogs are so hilarious yet so insightful! I love that you openly admit your mistakes and make no excuses. You are definitely the most authentic housewife to date.
Carole,
I love you!! I really think that it is so refreshing and nice to have another member of royalty on the show. I love your attitude with it and how you don't take yourself so seriously and demand respect or use your title like LuAnn does. LuAnn made it seem like everyone who was a part of royalty was a snob or a pompous jerk, so it is really nice to know that that is not the case! I love how you said on WWHL that you don't like to use it because you married into it and you felt it was their's and not yours. Interesting that not only did LuAnn marry into it but she is now divorced, so why is she still using it and demanding the use of it?!
Regardless of that issue, I think you are a GREAT addition to the housewives! On the show you are amazing to watch and hilarious and I love how relaxed and carefree you seem to be and your blogs are just so witty and entertaining that it reminds me why I began watching the housewives franchise in the first place!! I also like how you have a neutral stance when it comes to the drama, that is the way to go on this show!!
Carole is far better royalty then the other housewife on the show. At least she isn't a darn snob where the other one is so snobbish it turns my stomach.
Like it much. Everyone KNOWS that it is what you end up as don't they? If I had a title even my dogs would have to call me by it. All those housewives that complain about the Countess would make Bravo put it in everyone's contract that they be addressed by their title. You are silly not to use your title.. Every female wants to be a Princess! But you are you...just Carole. It did sound like quite a dig about the Countess when you said that she speaks about royalty when speaking with you. Was it? Are you going to be a mean and nasty girl but do it with humor? I have to admit that I am interested.
Please don't ruin the Housewives experience by shoving your smug misguided politics in our face. If you're embarrassed to be a Housewife on Bravo, and feel like you have to discuss something highbrow so your special special friends don't laugh at you behind your back, just leave. Don't muck the Bravo blog up with your lemming progressive claptrap. But since you brought it up...Talent, hard work and risk taking should be rewarded. Sloth and mediocrity should not be rewarded. Socialism doesn't work...Capitalism does. We are having economic problems because socialist policies were imposed on us when the Democrats had control of Congress. Are you proposing that Steve Jobs and other innovators should not have gotten rich by coming up with great ideas and managing them well? There are wide gaps in income because good ideas can take off exponentially. That's not a crime. That's just good business (which employs a lot of people by the way!).
beaconofjoy is your name really "Beacon of Joy"? You can express your opinion ; let Carole express hers! Your reasoning skills seem akin to a butterknife rather than a scalpel. Talk about oversimplifications!
CAROLE YOU ARE SO FUNNY.LOVE YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR. TELL RAMONA SHE SHOULD BE ON A STAGE. THERES ONE LEAVING IN TEN MINS. LOL
OMG, I haven't enjoyed or laughed so hard over a blog Since Jay Mohr blogged for RHNJ! You are so witty and intelligent and wonderfully self-deprecating! And I love how you juxtapose true social issues with the pettiness the NY Wives get mucked up in too frequently.
What an amazing addition you are! I'd given up on the show because of the cast up until last season, but thought I'd peek in to see what you new Wives were all about. And I am so glad I did--thanks to you!
Dear Carole, You are a great housewife!!! You are truly bright, charming and natural. There is no fakeness about you and I admire that. We also seem to share the same opinions on: The phony EX COUNTLESS name dropping & phony bs!! She might know some sentences of french or Italian here and there and fool 95% of the American public that can only speak english. She is definitely not fluent in either. On the other hand, there is no such Countless Deleseps title given to her ex husband. She was a Countless of appearances and not a real one. I hope Ramona goes to London with you ladies and show us some fun!! I also thought the same thing as you since the fist time I watched Ramona...she is like the pink fluffy energizer bunny!!. I believe she is a fluffy crazy& very entertaining bunny! Have fun in London!!
Wow, do you have these women pegged or what? Thank you for having your feet on the ground, your eyes looking towards the horizon and what's to come and your heart in the right place. I have a new New York fave, and her name is Carole!
Carole, your Blog is fantastic. In fitting with the Occupy Wall Street theme, your blog makes me smile 99% of the time and want to puke 1% of the time (i.e. when you compare your cape/hair combo to the love child of Princess Leia and Darth Vader. Vader is Leia's FATHER!)

Btw, my moniker is my bullmastiff's name, having nothing to do with Romonas new nick name.
I named him after the debauched protagonist in Nick Cave's last book, just saying...
Carole, LOVE the slap and kiss to Luann on the countess thing.
We all know it is horribly cheesy and pretentious to keep the title welll after the old guy is gone.
Thanks, it has always bothered me and I keep waiting for someone to address this with her, year after year until I am assured that she really "gets" how goofy and ditzy it really is.
Perhaps at some point it will really hit her that it IS about her own identitiy and accomplishments, or are there none?
