Mea culpa my friends! After the episode aired last week, I received many comments regarding my American Indian/Native American debate with Carole. I want to apologize for any disrespect I showed to people of native heritage in that scene and even though Carole was getting on my nerves, I should have chosen a better way to refute her assertions.
I had the pleasure of meeting Aviva's father George at Carole's Christmas party and thought he was charming and funny but way over the top! His behavior doesn't seem to bother Aviva very much and she loves to bring him out with her. Carole knew that seating me next to George was no problem because I can handle him.
Sonja is a diva and she behaved like one at the photo shoot. If you notice, she may have arrived late and had some wardrobe issues -- but once she got down to work, she was all business.
Since you are clearly determined to "move on" from the wine game incident with Ramona, I'll try to keep this brief. First of all, I cannot stand Ramona Singer. She is an absolute trainwreck and had NO right to insult your parenting. That being said, it was obvious to anyone with a brain that your intention was to have Ramona embarrass herself by (hopefully) saying something stupid about what would turn out to be her own wine. What is so annoying is not the fact that you did this to her, but that you are so bound and determined to lie about your motivation. Just admit that you really hold a lot of animosity toward Ramona (who could blame you?) and that you were trying to set her up with the wine game. I think you'd earn a lot more respect from viewers if you'd have the courage to admit your intentions and stop pretending to be innocent. It just makes you look like a liar.
that's your opinion , doesnt make it truth. looks like u have no sense of humor, either. Y admit something u didnt do?
Hi Luanne! I have to agree, I did think the wine thing was a set up and did not reflect well on you or Jacques. For once I was on Ramona's side--and I am never on her side most of the time due to her dramatics and operatic self-oriented personality which becomes very wearying. Had it been done to you both you two would have been so upset. You don't live in a vacuum and know the wine business is something Ramona has involved herself in. I hope you both learned a big lesson. Good luck with your relationship and life. Overall I find you quite entertaining. I just had an issue with this one incident.
LuAnn- hopefully you read these comments because what I really want to know is what you use on your skin?! You have such a luminescent complexion.
I agree! Simply beautiful. Ramona has the skin care line and I don't get it. Ramona is attractive, but LuAnn is beautiful and her complexion is just lovely
Having been to many Napa wine tasting parties at a variety of vineyards, the game looked very familiar. You use the essences of the primary flavors in the wine, and the wine is enhanced as a result. It is a game used to promote a wine and sell more bottles of it, not to make the winemaker look silly. There was no point in harping on the game, other than to draw attention to Ramona. Ramona's drama is very immature...and tiring.
I like all of RHNY crazy characters honestly... Yes there's behind the back talk.. But you've all participated at one point, or another. THAT's THE SHOW! I really like Jacques, and Luanne- your friends do too. Ramona - let things GO! You spend ur precious energy on bologna! Luanne- She knows not what she speaks. Be happy all of you. I have lost a friend today, they don't come around often.
Unless we are to believe that Ramona's wine party happened after the incident where Carole and Luann had the disagreement about Indians vs. Native Americans, then Aviva knew that Mario had already confronted Jacques about the wine tasting. Therefore, there was no need for her to bring it up again. That may be why Luann felt like the wine game incident had been discussed many times over.
I completely agree that the wine news is old but the only reason why people around you harp about it is they feel unsatisfied that you did not own up to the fact that you were out to embarrass Ramona when it was so clear to everyone else. If Jacques featured all his clients wines by blind folding them and not tell them its their own wine he would not be in business. And this is not the first time you have tried to embarrass and discredit Ramona, having persisted that Ramona repeated several times the region in Italy in which she gets her grapes for her wine so you can correct her on camera on it.
If you can apologize for the Indian remarks I hope you find the will to keep it classy and apologize to Ramona of this faux pas as well.
I was shocked how Mario brought up the wine game at the dinner party, he was a bit confrontational. I can see why Ramona and Mario were upset about the wine game, but it's passed and I think you were graceful about it at the Christmas Party. I've checked and you can say American Indian despite Carole's political correctness: The two terms Native American and American Indian ARE interchangeable depending on the individual. Aviva stirs the pot like there's no tomorrow... I'm too am glad that Heather stood up for Jacques. I concur, Ramona, Mario and Aviva should apologise to Jacques. I too like Jacques, it's great to see you two happy together!
Love ya Lu--keep being you! The way Ramona, Aviva, and the others spoke about Jacques after you guys lefts speaks volumes about their maturity and character--stay away from them!! On the other hand, I see a strong friendship in the works between you and Heather--good for you guys! Two strong, fun-loving women, who don't need to cut others down to be awesome!
Luann, Jacques has really proven himself to quite a gentleman this season. He has been verbally attacked by Sonja, Ramona and Mario, and Aviva and yet he remained calm and cool. He definitely seems like a keeper. I hope you both stay together and have a beautiful healthy baby. Best of luck!
LuAnn I must admit, past seasons I didn't really care for you, but this season I am starting to really like you. I feel like you are letting your true self shine through more and I absolutely love it! I think Ramona likes to say you are not a business woman because besides her business she has NOTHING. So it makes herself feel better than you. Whether you have a dollar and ramona has a million you will always have the class that she will never have. Your words of "money can't by you class" just scream into my head every time Ramona is on the screen. You to me used to come off quite snobby and acted like you were better than everyone, but I don't believe that to be the case (at least I hope not) I feel like if I were to meet you (which believe me we are from two different worlds! I am covered in tattoos.) I still feel like you would treat me with respect and get to know me as a person before you passed judgement. Which maybe that is why you come across judgemental, because you do know who these woman are and quite frankly you are above them. They stoop to such low levels that are just rude and tasteless and why would you want to associate with that? Just keep being you, like I said I hope the you that is showing on this season is the real you, because I have grown a huge admiration for you that I thought I never would! And people really need to get over the wine tasting. Who cares if Ramona did make a fool of herself? Someone gave her a taste of her own medicine and now all of a sudden she is soooo offended. Maybe she should take a look at her actions and what comes out of her mouth before she decides to tell people what is wrong or right. I thought the game was funny. And as much as she wants to play it off she had NO IDEA that was her wine in that glass, that's why she is so mad. Honestly, does she really think you make her look like a fool? She does that very well on her own! Hope you might actually read these comments and reply back to some of them! :-)
I feel you are one person in front of everyone and another in your interviews. You say some horrible things during your interviews that you do not say to the person your referring to. I did like it when you told Ramona that you would not have her at a shoot because she was annoying and she agreed. That is the true Ramona and I like that about her but you need to be more real.
Did anyone else notice the nice dinner party at the start of this episode? It was a joy to watch because there was NO drama! Just grown, sophisticated, New York City women socializing. Everything seems to go smoothly when Ramona, and her sidekick Sonja, aren't around!
Why is everyone still going on about the wine tasting... LuAnn and Jacques were not setting Ramona up. The game was not to say whether or not you like or dislike a wine, it was to taste a wine, describe it, then have your senses changed, by smelling something different, and then tasting the wine again to see the difference. Why does no one get that? It was a good idea to use her wine and let her taste and see how different scents can change the way a wine tastes.
DeniseW I totally agree with you. No one gets it and it would have been easier if Jacques just used some other wine.
DeniseW I agree with you. The wine game was explained as you described. The problem was that the ones who made a big deal of it, didn't understand the English language. Perhaps English is not their first language?
DeniseW I'm wondering that what if Jacques did not include Ramona's wine during the wine tasting if she would have been just as insulted. With Ramona she cannot be please either way, she will always find a way to make a statement and argument just to be relevant. Just my two cents as I can see that there is no way to please Ramona. The fact that she did not recognize her own wine, she's embarrassed and therefore not making a wave of it. But her husband is not going to let it rest, Ramona is his bread & butter now.
You have such style and class. Why do you still try to be friends with Ramona? She says she hates when other "talk behind my back"....but that is ALL she does to others. That was uncalled for and mean when she says that you are not a business woman and all you do is "marry up". She needs to get over herself and maybe you should call her out once in awhile.
Love you on the show and Heather is a welcome "normal" change. It's a pleasure to watch bot of you. What's the deal with Aviva. She is so judgmental and feels se has the right to lecture to everyone on how she thinks they shold act. She seemingly loves to stir up trouble and doesn't have the guts to write a blog which I thought was a criteria to be a Housewife. You and Ramona came to terms on the wine tasting evening. Eviva had to start trouble with Ramona (and it doesn't take much for her sicko mind to go off the deep end) and Mario when they went to dinner. Mario confronted Jacques and it should have been over right then and there. But, oh no, Aviva had to start with you and Jacque at Ramona wine launching party. You explained to her your real intentinos and short of calling you a liar she created a scene. This woman seems to dwell in causing trouble. IT IS NONE OF HER BUSINESS AND WHO IS SHE TO JUDGE OR CLAIM TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING.. This is just another example of a woman who does nothing and has too much time on her hands. She'll get her due with Ramona and Sonja and she'll probably turn to all of you to support her -which sould be interesting since since she's already burned those bridges. Ramona and Mario has gone their distance on the show - they are so beyond boring and noting but camera hogs. Here's a clue, we are tired of seeing them so I usually switch the channel. I'm sure Ramona's daughter is emabarrssed by her Mother and should be. Can't believe Bravo still has her on the show - bad move.
Romona and the other gals are so incredibly jealous of you it is unbelievable. They would do anything to break you and Jacques up. As for Mario, imagine how bummed he must feel all the time stuck with that perfectly awful Ramona. And as for Aviva she is the new Alex, a pot stirrer with a totally obnoxious father and little else to contribute except for her constant whining about her too many to name phobias.
LuAnn, I don't think Ramona and Mario should apologize to you and Jacques. They do not owe you one. Both of you tried to set her up at the wine tasting. You owe her one. You have been cutting her done for years behind her back so call it even. With Alex gone, who are you going to SLAUGHTER this year at the reunion show? I can't wait for it.
Oh LuAnn, what Ramona said to Jacques about getting the accent right was idiotic! She has said some stupid things before but that took the cake. I love his accent and he can't change the way he speaks no more than she can change how dumb she looks and sounds.
LuAnn--Aviva has her "fears" about travelling to St. Bart's. None of you have been through a horrifying experience like she has, and I can't see any of these ladies supporting her as she tries to face her fears.
It's called money. That's why she did it. They do it for money and/or pushig whatever product and/or talent they need help selling.
Well it is clear that Mario is backing up his wife and I love that..Ramona is getting a bum rap with the pack so to speak. Alot of you have terrible faults as well but keep pointing out hers every time you all are together. Jacques knew you both stepped over the line about the wine incident so left on good terms but decided not to entertain any confrontation. He is also not stupid, there were husbands present and he is feeling the boyfriend push to step up and propose.
Seriously girl, how can you stand to be around Ramona? She doesn't seem to respect you, doesn't support you, talks behind your back, sucks all the life out of the room, and makes everyone's blood pressure go up about 20 points. Furthermore, she's not your intellectual equal.
LuAnn you are my favorite! My Husband says he wishes you were his Mother! ; ) Your so funny and your quick one liners are always on par! The looks you give are priceless too!
I love you & so wish Jill was on with you! I was shocked that they kept Ramona on the show & not Jill. I would have thought if they were going to cut one of the two, Jill would not be the one going! I am not sure about the new girls yet. Not that I don't like Ramona, she brings some comic relief to my Monday, but what a hand full! Exhausting! Come on Andy, we want our Jill Zarin back...NOW PLEASE!
Hi LuAnn, It was none of Aviva's business about the wine tasting with Ramona. It was shameful the way they talked about Jacques. I was actually horrified. You are exactly right about Sonja.
I agree with everything you said. Regarding filming, ou've been around RaMONa the longest and know when she's about to erupt. Hence, your swift departure from any scene where the insanity is about to boil over... I find RamONa's and Marry-Oh's attitude toward Jacques to be infantile. They act as though they've never met someone from another country before. They act like narrow minded hillbillies. I enjoy your "bon mots" (comments) to RaMONa's face. You actually insult her and she laughs at it because she's too focused on her faux fight with Heather. Thanks for keeping your composure and good humor when around that dirty old man. Frankly, I can't stand George's raunchy remarks. I don't find him funny, clever or interesting.
LuAnn, In the middle of all the craziness this season, you are looking like one of the only grown-ups on the show...Heather being the other one. Ramona keeps getting worse and doesn't seem to be able to play well with others. She even has Mario joining in her craziness. Aviva really needs some professional help for all her anxieties and her desperation to be relevant has caused her to have ridiculous confrontations with you and others. Sonja and Ramona are codependent and feed each others worst behaviors. Like you said, Heather should have thought twice about offering to help Sonja. I hope that your relationship with Jacque will continue to be all that you wish for.
ocdeb65 Hi, I so disagree with you on LuAnn and Heather looking like the only grown-ups on the show. Watch the show from the beginning again. They both look pretty petty to me. In fact they all have done some stupid things so far. What has happened to this show?
Hi LuAnn! :)
Well, here is my so-so but I liked the wine game
Lu, out of asll the RHW you and Heather are my favs, love y'all's honesty.
Now I will run for cover!
Luann, I have to say, your about the only housewife, I can stand this season. Although, I don't always agree with you, you are always willing to admit your mistakes..PS...stay away from crazy Ramona
OMG even if the wine thing was meant as a joke for Ramona, she got "one up" on you and Jacques but recognizing every note presented. She may not be able to pronounce words correctly (remember last year?), but she knows her wine. That may not be a good thing considering how much she consumes though LOL I don't know why its still such a big deal. I'm getting the idea Aviva likes to stir the pot and if she doesn't stop, she's going to be the next Alex (the one no one else likes).
LuAnn, I think you did a great job dealing with Ramona. I just cannot stand her. Aviva is one confused lady, and she needs to get a sense of humor. I thought the wine game was funny. Jacques is French, and since Aviva and Ramona are NOT, I daresay they have no clue how one's French accent should sound. Just consider the source of the comments and continue to take the high road and leave stupid people to their own devices! :-)
LuAnn, I rarely agree with you but find myself on your side in Indian-gate. I grew up near a large reservation and the kids from the tribe who were my friends and classmates referred to themselves as Nez Perce or as "tribal members." "Native Americans" was coined by apologetic liberals who have probably never spoke to an aboriginal American/ Indian/tribal member in their Upper East Side lives.
LuAnn, you were so graceful the way you quietly exited the negative interaction at the party. Ramona should realize that she is at someone else's party and not be disrespectful of that.
Even though Aviva doesn't want to travel, the pressure from the ladies was clearly uncomfortable for her. Her husband going would be fun!
And, will someone mention to Sonja that she needs to say, "Thank you!" to Heather for putting in so much effort and sacrificing other professionals' time? She was leaning toward Heather's business partner because he is a MALE! She thinks she can get what she wants through him and not be required to give thanks!
You were wise to apologize for your remarks and gestures regarding the indigenous people of America. Thank you.
I completely agree that the wine discussion is old news. However, it's wrong to pretend that you and Jacques weren't trying to embarrass Ramona. You'll be able to move on if you apologize.
I thought you were trying to get back at Ramona because of what she said about your kids. It was obvious she did not recognize her own wine.
I don't understand why Aviva brought up the wine issue with you when she was sitting right there when Mario confronted Jacques at the restaurant. The parties involved resolved it, so why the hell does Aviva need to stick her nose in and give her 2 cents? Plus, it wouldn't have been an issue if she didn't say anything to Ramona way back when she, Reid, Ramona and Mario were out to dinner together. I think Jacques is a sweetheart and is taking these Housewives' crazy antics like a champ. He's definitely a keeper, LOL.
Great blog and spot on, however, disagree with you on the wine party issue. It was a set up and Ramona would have looked horrible if she had said she didn't like her own wine. I understand it was a "joke" to you, but it was a mean joke. Enough about that, let's all move on. Not sure why Aviva felt it was her place to even address that with you - it was between you and Ramona. Sorry to see people being nasty to Jacques when he left - no one deserves that, however, it's very typical of Ramona to be immature and mean.
HotMamma40 Everyone is jumping on the same bandwagon that poor Ramona would have looked bad IF she said something negative about her wine. That is so, "What if?...." situation. The fact is that nothing horrible was said. Therefore, no harm, no foul. People have to let go of the "what if"... and get off the loop of that dead subject.
