Bethenny Frankel Is So Obsessed With Trader Joe’s, She Considered Camping Out at a Store Opening: “I’m Not Normal”

The Real Housewives of New York City mogul is just like us — seriously pumped about Trader Joe's.

Sure, Bethenny Frankel might have sold her Skinnygirl brand for an estimated $100 million, and she might have an NYC apartment that seems plucked out of a wild urban real-estate fantasy — but she'd rather be at a cult-favorite grocery store that prices bananas at $0.19 apiece than at some fancy Fifth Avenue boutique any day.

Bethenny shared a series of effusive videos to her Instagram stories, in which she revealed to fans just how pumped she is for the opening of the new Trader Joe's downtown store location.

"This is how crazy I am," she says in a selfie clip, tagging the grocery chain. "Literally more excited about the opening of a Trader Joe's downtown than like... U2 tickets or something. I mean, I was ready to take a lounge chair and park last night outside waiting for the opening. So that's my big news this morning, Trader mother f---ing Joe's!"

When the big moment arrived, she took her dog, Biggy, along for the ride to the store. "Biggy!" she told the pup excitedly. "Trader Joe's before hos!"

Continuing her thought process, Bethenny mused, "Yes it's real, people are excited. I think there's going to be a stampede like Ikea —  I just don't want anyone to get killed. When Ikea opened in London, there was a stampede."

But, whatever — for Bethenny, the risk was way worth the reward.

Rolling up to the new store, Bethenny noted greeters waving from the door, beckoning customers with plastic leis. "I'm going in! They knew I was coming."

Inside, the bash continued with steel drummers. "There's a calypso party at 8 in the morning. Wow, OK!" she said. And yes, she scooped up that lei and wore it proudly.

"I'm not normal," Bethenny told fans. "I'm happier in Trader Joe's and TJ Maxx than Fifth Avenue."

And that's why we love you, Bethenny.
