Andy Warhol said everyone gets his or her 15 minutes of fame - well we had a lot of fame abuse on the "Naked Wasted" episode of RHOC.

When Bravo and the ladies came calling for me to take a nice drive up to OC and throw a dinner party, I thought, "I'll take another minute." I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I've never really watched the show, but I figured I knew what it was all about. I was so wrong. I was always curious about how they shoot these types of shows - are they scripted? Where do the camera and sound crews hide, etc.? I learned that it is impossible to script something as wild as an episode with these ladies. When the cameras start rolling - and they are rolling from the minute the ladies walk through the front door - all hell breaks loose. Now you see, I was on Top Chef to of course exploit my cooking skills, skills being the key word here, and myself. These ladies are exploiting themselves for popularity (cheap fame) and this is achieved by doing the outrageous.

I was in the kitchen focusing on the multi-course dinner I was preparing and I didn't realize all of the drama that was going on just a few steps away. Now I knew Gretchen was extremely drunk and making a mess of herself on camera for the whole nation to see, but I didn't know that Tamra, Simon and Ryan were plotting it all along. I thought Tamra and Simon were really great to work with, but I must say I was not impressed with the way they went after Gretchen. Now I'm not going to say I didn't think she had it coming, but this was over the top and sending Ryan after her was just wrong on so many levels. I mentioned I was curious as to where they hid the camera - well they don't hide the cameras. Cameras are everywhere and Ryan loves them. The crew was following him all over as he pawed at the defenseless Gretchen, which reminded me of the Hyena (I was going to say Lion, but Ryan is much more of a Hyena) hunting the Gazelle. And for the record, he didn't make a single drink that night.

Brian, it was a nice surprise to see you at tamra's dinner party. Enjoyed your cooking on Top Chef.
After seeing the episode 3 times, you kept your cool well amidst this madness. I have a feeling they did NOT really appreciate your great menu, since drinking and getting back at Gretchen seemed to be the main focus. I hope you cook to a classier crowd as a rule. I was really disappointed in in Tamra and Gretchen. Hope your business is doing well..

oh please brian, i was a fan of yours on top chef but you know thats not what happened at the party. The obviously went into the bathroom together so she had to of shown him something. The only reason your defending that whore gretchen is probably because she hooked up with you at that party too. Nobody can force anybody to drink and get as drunk as gretchen did. Maybe if she wasn't so concerned about always being the center of attention she wouldn't have shown America what a slut she was.

Your dinner was great and it was so good to see your catering style. I'm in the wedding business and I thought you handled everything with a lot of grace which is sometimes very hard to find under difficult situations. Good luck and hope to see your work again on the tv

I have comments for the blogger on 2/26/09 at 3:25p.
I disagree with a number of comments this viewer made... She said, Gretchen was after Ryan from the minute she was introduced to him at the bar when she first entered Tamra's house. That is not true. She was introduced to Ryan, who was standing behind the bar. Gretchen was not after him. Also, When Gretchen made the comment about cleansing her palate, it was obvious that she was drunk at that time. I thought Ryan had alot of nerve and no manners to tuck her strap into her shirt. She was not shoving her boobs in his face. She is a seductive woman and there is nothing wrong with that. Also the comment "Why would she drive her ex. boyfriend home from a party, then, blame him for making a move on her, yet, Jeana says his clothes were on Gretchen's bedroom floor?" I have the same problem with 2 ex boyfriends. I try to remain friends, because I value friendship, but they want more than that. It gets to a point where you have to lose them as a friend. Jeana's comment about his clothes on Gretchen's bedroom floor - does make it look bad for Gretchen. Gretchen never addressed the comment. However, if this incident was after Jeff's passing, then it is nobody's business but Gretchens. I think Gretchen's learned her lesson about getting drunk like that.

I really enjoyed reading your blog. It's not surprising that you think Vicki is really sweet. Of course she's sweet to you. You are a nice looking younger man. Vicki must have been really tired that night - she wasn't fighting for the spotlight.

Brian- You are great and you were one of my favorites on Top Chef...thank you for being so 'real' about what happened that night, as a viewer you never really know what's going on behind the camera.

Malarkey YOU are my new hero! YOU are awesome! thank you so much for the 'reveal' of what happened at the non etiquette party. I hope Bravo takes a hold of this golden moment and brings you back on the show!
I wondered about the disconnect of Tamara throwing this elaborate, and amazingly tasteful dinner party, and her mopping her own floor! The disconnect is that the mopping the floor is the real her (meaning that she tried to pose herself as something she is not by throwing a party way above her), and the dinner menu is the REAL YOU! Well done on the food! The party looked as good as it did because you were the helm of the cooking part of it. You brought real class to an otherwise tasteless situation. LOVE YOU! Please come back to the show if you get asked!

Are any of you naive people out there finally seeing what Gretchen is/was? Check out the true facts/watch the reunion.. She's been a total fake from episode one.. made the rest of the cast look mean.. She is sly as a fox... no one poured any drinks down her throat.. She was after Ryan from the minute she was introduced to him at the bar when she first entered Tamra's house...before anyone had a drink.. She's s "wolf" in sheep's clothing and took the cameras away from Brian, Tamra, and any chance they had of describing the food, etc.. while she was "cleansing her palate", shoving her "real" boobs in Ryan's face, screaming at the table, being seductive with the oysters/appetizers, etc..... Before anyone was drinking/drunk.. They caught Tamra making that comment and ran with it to make Gretchen look like the "poor" little victim,, as they always did all season..She could have controlled herself. She's 30 years old!! Jeana and Lynne took drinks away from her!! She was even flirting with Tamra and Vicki's husbands!! How dedicated of a "fiancee" was she to Jeff? She did the same at the track, restaurants, the gym, etc. She's a vixen/flirt and blames everything on everyone else.. Why would she drive her ex. boyfriend home from a party, then, blame him for making a move on her, yet, Jeana says his clothes were on Gretchen's bedroom floor? Come on, people!! This is the girl who plays dumb..just like at the blackjack table in Vegas with Vicki, then, gets away with her little Miss Innocence act. Just like she did with Jeff's poor kids.. It was awful to watch her expose him.his illness/his kids on TV like this...all for her fame/attention/glory/show off her "beauty"..? She's a typical cheerleader/actress.

Brian, I loved you on Top Chef so I was excited to see you on this episode. It was ashamed that we could not see more of your culinary expertise because of these wild hyenas hooting and hollering. just a quick comment on Tamra, she is trash and along with her husband and obviously Ryan that was raised by her to be just like her...etiquette dinner....? sooo funny, she needs a lifetime of courses.

To Tamara/"Viewer" I am glad that I now have an unbiased opinion from somebody that YOU hired. He could of committed career suicide by telling behind the scenes secrets about his employer that night but obviously felt morally obligated to come to Gretchen's defense about the sick behavior of Tamara, Simon, Ryan, camera and crew. Somebody should of stepped in.

Does anyone really believe that Tamra was interested in throwing a formal dinner party that night? Give me a break! If this was to show off her supposed etiquette training, then she failed miserably as she was beyond rude to her guests, especially Gretchen. Trying to get Gretchen "naked wasted" was pathetic, if not blatantly sick. What kind of a 40+ year old woman who is trying to have a "formal" dinner party tries to embarrass one of her guests by having her get fall down drunk and then laughs when her loser son tries to hit on her? Not one with any class that's for sure. I'm sure this event was hard for Brian.

Amazed..

Wow.. I am amazed .. I, too, thought, Brain got no air time on this episode...Why does everyone condone Gretchen's awful behavior? Not just in this episode, but all of them? Anyone who did not think that Gretchen was rude/seductive, and made sure that all attention was on her/her seductive eating, "palate cleansing"/showing her breasts/body to all/Ryan at this formal dinner party when Tamra and Brian were trying to describe the food, etc., needs to watch it again!!

Brian,

Thank you for being honest of what really transpired during that night. It is just sad that the hosts did not seem to appreciate your cooking because they looked like more focused on having someone wasted on camera instead of complimenting the foods you prepared. Good luck on everything. I believe that great thing happens with honest and sincere people like you!!
