One of the wonderful things that has come from such a horrible loss has been the ability to bring awareness to this disease that affects close to 900,000 individuals today! Did you know that every 10 minutes someone dies of this disease? What a shame that so many people have to lose their loved ones to this horrible cancer. The good news is that The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is doing something about it! With all the recent research there has been so much advancement in cures and drugs that even within the nine grueling months Jeff struggled with this cancer, new developments were happening. This was due to the everyday people like you making a difference by donating to this great charity! WE can all do something to help, even if it is small!
It was a great honor to be nominated as one of the candidates for Man/Woman of the year campaign for LLS! I decided to take that nomination in honor of Jeff because it made me feel like I was able to still do something despite losing him. Lots of times after losing someone and especially during the time they are sick, you feel so hopeless and depressed. The campaign gave me a new mission - to make Jeff’s life count! Raising awareness and money for a great cause helped bring me back to life after losing someone so close to me.
I have started my 10-week fundraising campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We had our kickoff gala March 27th where I was announced as part of the Man/Woman of the Year campaign. It was a very special night and my dear family and some close friends were there to support me in my efforts to raise money, and awareness in honor of Jeff.
You are such a strong woman and your positive attitude does inspire me to understand that people will talk, let them say what they want it doesn't help to be as mean and hateful as they are.
Are you coming back next season?
I hope! Melissa G
before we donate can you clarify what the funds for Jeff's "memorial fund" go to? YOu didn't mention if they'll be used to help fund a scholarship, or help fund you and the kids. Which is fine but it looks like most of the activities you are doing benefit both the Lukemia Society (good job!) but also go to this fund...can you explain more just to help in the decision making of what to give? thanks!
whatever...you are quite the self-promotor. thanks for wasting my time reading about all the crap we didn't want to hear about. what about slade? what about jay? avoiding clearing up all the "crap" that is being said about you only makes it clear it's not crap.
Holy Invest in Gretchen Commercial! I thought these blogs were there so that people could gain some insight into the personality and depth of our favorite reality stars. I am rethinking who my favorites are. I do now and always will, support any kind of cancer research, but that could be taken care of before moving on to your own personal comments.
I was your biggest advocate at first. I thought everyone was just plan mean to you but now my ideas have changed. I made excuses for your partying and your actions when Jeff was so sick. I can't say that you are a golddigger as much as I believe you are a lady of convience. You are doing whatever it takes to further Gretchen. I do not understand how you can take up with Slade so quickly after Jeff's death. It does not make sense to me. I do believe there was more to the story of why you were with Jeff other than love. I don't believe everything the other housewives said on the Reunion show but I don't believe you either. Somewhere in the middle is the truth and I just don't believe you are the giving person that you wanted your fans to believe you are.
I think I fell asleep during this blog... droneing on and on with self promotion and unclear charity work....hmmmmmmm You still make me just shake my head.
Gretchen, no cares about the business ventures. You should have answered things like what Tamra accused you of, having a boyfriend. Is Slade (yuck) your boyfriend? And have you had it out with Tamra again? That's what we want to know. You self absorbed business ventures..we don't care!
I just want to thank you for your fundraising accomplishments. My dad has Hairy-cell Lukemia. Thankfully he is in remission but I know how scary this disease can be. Keep up the good work! You obviously know what's important in life.
It's great to hear about your fund raising and bringing awareness to this disease. Keep up the good fight.
You have always seemed like a very nice and genuine person. I am pleased that you can see past the mean and heartless people that have taken pleasure in trashing a person unknown to them.
There will always be people that want to hurt others in order to feel good about themselves. I feel sorry for them since, as you know, life is too short to be filled with such negative energy.
I hope you'll be on the show next season, it needs some balance. You, Lynne and Jeana are fun to watch and know how to treat other people with respect regardless of the nasty treatment you've received.
Best of luck to you.
As you infomercial ... I mean blog, suggested I went to your website and GAG ME!!! Your shirt is open with your boobs showing on the main page.... you have no class or self-respect at all. You can be sure that I will not be checking in on yor trashy shamless self-promtoing crap of a website.
Don't you think its odd, Slade goes for the youngest prettiest "housewife" of the season? Don't let him be around the "next" one for any length of time- Br Careful, he seems to latch on.
what a lie...i thought bravo (and most channels) send tapes of episodes to the stars before they air the show? sounds like someone is lying again!!
i saw your pics, and your tattoo of "jay" on your ring finger. I really hope you didnt take advantage of Jeff while he was dying because that would be the lowest thing anyone could ever do.
boy that was literally the most boring blog ive ever read. arent u suppose to be commenting on the shows and not advertising your freaking entire itinerary? come on every single paragrah - im working on this, im doing this, please help me with this. honestly it sounds like a broken record, you shoulve said - if you guys are interested in any of my charity work plese log on to my site. then u should start dishing on the housewives not all ur freakin events. come on 7 pages of that is tttoooo much. and it makes u look phoney. get real we all saw the pics of u and slade u couldnt comment on that? give us a break wasnt he ur best friends ex dude. like they lived together for petes sakes. and now u hooked up with him? doesnt hurt that hes rich eh? so who cares that he banged ur best friend. shame on u for not clearing that up. read tamras blog and take notes honey ur blogs are loooong and boooring.
Thank you for bringing attention to Leukemia research. My mother is currently recovering from AML Leukemia. Many are not aware of the constant week long 24 7 Chemo drips and month stays in the hospital for each treatment. It is a tremendous strain on any Leukemia patient’s caregiver. Keep up the fundraising and hopefully together we can prevent people from living through the hell that our loved ones have!
What about Slade??? How come you didn't mention how you were dating him? But if you were Jo de La Rosa's friend then you would have never dated him! And just for the record, you are right for the first time! You are a Gild Digger! A girl who goes after men for their money!
I absolutly love you!! Your are so amazing and turning a terrible situation into a positive by doing charity events in honor of Jeff. You are a true role model and someone who I really look up to!
I hope you don't take all the terrible things people have to say about you to heart, because you truly are an inspiration.
One day, I hope you and Tamara can work things out, you both are strong women with strong personalities. Bless you!
Noticed you didn't put up my post. Gretchen I used to like you on the show but the things going on now make me not. Get over yourself. Your 15 minutes are up!
Do any of the housewives use these blogs for legitimate purposes and not just to hawk their products?! Yuck!
Best of luck to you Gretchen, glad you are working on charities for Jeff. But c'mon you can do better than Slade.. you do not need a man, you can take care of yourself!
Hi Gretchen, It's good to hear from you. Sounds as though you have been a very busy lady. You are working hard, and the rewards will pay off! Hang in there honey, you have my full support, in everything you do.
Please tell us, you will be back for Season 5. I can't wait to see you smack the heck out of Tamra! lol...
Sounds like you are doing good. How are you and Slade doing? Are you comeing back next season ? When? love you girl stay positive.
Gretchen: Gid Bless ya Hunnie: Wow Great for you taking your pain and doing nothing but Great with it: I agree with you 100 percent no one knows your pain or feelings and you must deal the way you do;Good For You Gurlfriend; I am still dealing with heartache over my daddy and its been 16 years~ I am so Happy to hear of all the wonderful ways you are going forward ~ STANDING OVATION ~ Take Care Gretchen and GOD BLESS REAL GOOD~
Team TAMRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gretchen all you did in that long blog was yadda yadda (me) yadda yadda (me). I can not believe that you even have 1 fan. Anyone that is a fan of yours is not mentally right in the head. You are a manipulator and so fake. I like REAL people with flaws, not fake people with flaws that they hide or lie about.
i liked you so much on the show and felt sorry for you most of the time when the girls were mean to you. come to find out you are an absolute FAKE and PHONY person! All the pictures of you floating around the internet kissing all kinds of guys with your engagement ring on and yes, some are with the Jay person Tamra mentioned. She had you right all along. you are a master manipulator--i enjoy your character (on the show) and drama-- keep it coming just be honest about it.
We all know too well that you don't do anything that doesn't benefit YOU. You are doing all this charity because you need to repair your image. You don't fool us....that's why you didn't mention Slade, because it would hurt your image. I wouldn't buy ANYTHING you are selling...I'd rather just donate directly to them with nothing to do with you. You are using Jeff to this day to get a brighter star. It's really sickening!
You have been exposed and are trying to make us think you are a saint and everyone else that knows you personally is wrong. We have your number lady.....no amount of charity will make me think any better of you....but keep doing the charity thing because we all need to give more.
Gretchen, You are a real, classy, fun, and fabulous woman. You MADE the housewives show last season. So full of life and vibrant. Just a breathe of fresh air, after watching those rude, insensitive and cruel women Tamra and Vicki. Can they please leave now? Geez, how much more do we have to watch? We won't forget how horrible those women treated you, and we have your back...any day!!
Gretchen you rock! You have more class and personality than all the other housewives put together. Stay away from the toxic losers (we all know who they are....one being a housewife that will hopefully not be returning next season!).
You are so much better than all of that. TEAM GRETCHEN!
These "hard times" that you are going through... don't you think you could have avoided them by oh.. I don't know not pretending to be so in love with Jeff? I doubt your commitment to him by how you have moved on from Jay to now Slade. As much as you want to be the victim, it appears as though Vickie and Tamara were right to doubt your intentions. The photos all over the internet paint a much clearer picture of who and what you are.
you go girl.....keep thriving and living the good life! i love that you didn't acknowledge the gossip....you are sooooo above it all!!
I absolutely love Gretchen ! Nobody has the right to say what's in another's heart. Gretchen made Jeff happy during the last stages of his life----and that's good enough for me. People that have a terminal illness, ---we are supposed to respect their wishes, and they have a right to spend their final days-final months as they wish, and with whom they wish.
I would never attempt to judge one's love for another. If two people say they love each other, what gives me, or anybody else the right to say they don't ?
It appears that Gretchen has such a great heart. I'm sure she is not perfect and has made mistakes before; however, to bring joy into someone's life, at the very end of his life....to me that is the ultimate act of giving. She brightened Jeff's day when he was having a hard time. She was an ear for him to listen to when things looked very bleak for him. If that's not love, I don't know what is.
It's amazing to me that some people have such rigid, narrow definitions of love. I see Gretchen and Jeff's relationship as something to celebrate, whether it meets the traditional definitions of love or not, and it would seem this whole experience of terminal illness has brought Gretchen a new kind of wisdom when it comes to grief, bereavement, and loss. I see her as being able to help others who are going through the same thing.
Whether Gretchen and Jeff had a traditional "perfect" relationship or not, I am very touched by their sweet relationship !
This is fun - I just read this on Nene's blog, and I quote:
" At lunch it was really big of Tamra to apologize to Gretchen for the comments she made about her! It's always a good thing to realize your mistakes, acknowledge them, and move on."
I'm so glad Tamra apologized!!!!! She should have, and it's so nice to see that she did the right thing!!
Wow, talk about damage control.
I have watched RHOC from it's first season. And this is the first season I have ever been truly disgusted and insulted by this show and your story line. You see I had a loved one that died from Acute Leukmia and we were with him evey minute of the day, until he drew his last breath. I think that you are as fake as a 3 dollar bill.
I will really be suprised if this gets posted, since most of the posts here are pro Gretchen.
As you put it no one knows unless they have been in your shoes....well honey I have been in your shoes...and I call a big BS on yours.
Welcome Back Gretchen! So glad to hear you're doing something productive with your life. You use your time productively and it's inspiring to see that you don't waste your time with the "petty bitches". You left us in suspense though, you didn't mention whether you were returning next season. If so, it would be a good place to plug your charity like the NY Housewives do! Also, to all the people that judge you for being with Slade, who cares! You're young and single and can date whomever you please. Besides, Jo never treated him nice anyways, it's about time he found someone intelligent.
I am so proud of you Gretchen, you have shown you are a strong woman who can take care of herself. A couple of the women on Housewives of OC only show that they are the real "Gold Diggers" because all they do is spend their husbands money, not something I would be proud of doing. There are more important things than money. Good luck with whatever you do in your life. You will love again, with Jeff's blessing. You are one classy lady Gretchen, Vickie and Tamara could take a few lessons from you.
Hi Gretchen!! Its great to hear about you again, you are as sweet and as beautiful as ever and I look forward to your new website. Best of luck in all you do and stay true to who you are!!!
your my fav!! and i think all the other girls were really mean to you i didnt like it!! just keep being real!!
Gretchen - great blog ! I totally agree with you that no one can no what you went through -- I get it because I went through a very similar situation. For all of the people who profess to be friends that can never understand yet say the most hurtful of things. My involvement with a critically ill man lasted 10 years and most of it in and out of the hospitals. It is very hard to do - your entries in the blog and fundraising says a lot - hope others can see your heart and allow you some breathing room without being so critical
