I have just started to watch the season 4 reruns and was unaware that Jeff had died. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a nice man. You are a courageous lady and you will be okay in time. I enjoy watching you on the show. I started watching the show because I spent my years in California (LA) where my step-parents lived in a gated community (Park Labrea). I now live in Canada, in a rural area (lots of horses).

I thought that your burlesque party idea was great. Where did you get those cool outfits from? I especially like that some of them had feathers. Thanks.

Gretchen, regardless of what others may have called your relationship with Jeff, only you truly knew the truth. Some may speculate that you were with him for his money and others may say you were in it for love. Long as your were happy and you made him happy why is it a concern for others to judge. It seems to me that his kids really did like your in there father's life. You keep on bringing your flavor to the show. Look forward to seeing you in the new season!

Gretchen, I think you handeled yourself as well as anyone could and or can. Losing someone close to you, well it is very hard nomatter who it is. I had a male friend I was very close to, who passed away suddeenly, and it's been many years, and yet, i still think of him often, I still get angry..it lessens, but never goes away. As for those who think of you as, well whatever they think, that is thier opinion and don't really seem to know you very well only you know how you are! don't let anyone ever bring you down, or make you second guess yourself!

Gretchen- You and Jeana are the only reason why me and all my friends watch the show!!! Stay strong and always keep the haters in your prayers. I Love watching you.

i loved you being on the show and no one knows how they would react if they were going through the inevitable death of a loved one and still try to keep on living. my husband died and i had to keep on going for my four kids. it was tough to keep up appearances. only he and i knew how we felt about each other. the outside world can only speculate. I thought you did a great job because his children had the utmost respect for you. That says a lot. God bless you.

You should get out of the lime-light before it destroys you. You appear to have some real class developing and you might need to look closer at that opportunity.

I think you are an amazing person. Even without knowing you personally I can see that you truly loved Jeff. My sisters and I have always been a fan of this show and we can always pick out the gold diggers. No matter what anyone says we know you were not in that relationship only for the money. I do not know if I would ever have had the strength to take care of Jeff the way you did and still manage to stay strong through the entire process. I just wanted to let you know even though I am sure you already do, do not let anyone bring you down. You are obviously a strong, caring, and amazing person and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Lastly, I wanted to congratulate you on all of your recent hard work. I'm planning on becoming a social worker when I grow older so I admire you for being such a strong advocate for your charity. I already saw from the show that you have a soft heart but now I know that you've persevered through your grief by making a difference in the world, I've gained an added respect for you. And helping to raise money for cancer research strikes a cord within me because I lost my dad to bone cancer 17 years ago before my fifth birthday.

Anyhow, I wanted to tell you THANK YOU! I lost my beautiful sister to leukemia (berkitt's) and lymphoma. It's been over 20 years since her death but not a day goes by that I don't think about her and how much I truly miss her.

The stresses you go through on a day to day bases is something only people who live it can truly understand. I am sorry for your loss. On a lighter note...I think you are sooo beautiful and unique. I totally miss this show being on Bravo! I could barely take the Wives of NY, I mean "Oh my Gawd" that was just horrible. Any chance there's a reunioun show in the works for these sassy ladies to entertain us for one more season? Although I could really take a LOT less of Tamra and Vicki. Tamra is turning into a solid piece of plastic right before our very eyes and would turn on anyone in a heart beat. Hi Gretchen I just wanted to make a comment i usually dont read blogs or even do this but I just had to say I think you have a heart of gold and to be hobest I think what you did was competly bold. You did not know any of the women and with how catty and univnviting they were in the begginning you still moved forth and smiled and opend your heart and cared for them. I think that shows the type of individual you are its hard to go in somewhere new like that and I praise you for doing it and not just that but you stood up for what you believed in and you stayed pure the whole way. I think you are this amazing person with a beautiful heart and a gorgeous personality shinning through. Gretchen, I just watched the reunion show. I want to share with you an idea I have about Tamra's motivations toward you since you kept asking her why she was so interested in your business and why she was so mean to you. First off, I don't think it's anyone's business about your relationships, Tamra's accusations about you being immoral are out of line. Who is she to judge you?! I think the reason why she is so nasty to you is because she is jealous of your beauty and sex appeal. More importantly, she seems to be transferring the identity of her father's wife (the one he left her mother for)onto YOU (if you remember, she accused you of being a husband-stealer after she heard rumors of this...why would she care about this? I think it's because she is transferring). When people overreact to situations, it means that there are bigger issues there, often issues from childhood. You see how she is overcome with emotion, to this day, whenever talking about her father. There is tremendous pain. So you see, you are the perfect target for her. She has MAJOR issues. I couldn't stand the way she spoke to you on the reunion show; it was very low-class and disgusting. I have to give you so much credit for remaining composed, very lady-like. I was very impressed with you. I wish you the best.

I have just finished watch a few episodes of the OAC & the reunion show. That was a large eye opener because my instinct of Tamera & Vicky have been right on. Those 2 have a lot to worry about as far as life goes. Sure do have the correct tools for being the GREASTEST BITCHES OF CA.

My heart does go out for you as you are trying to get out of the depression hole from the loss of Jeff. At first I had my doubts, but wanted to just sit back & watch the show. My change of heart happened pretty fast as I kept watching. You really are a pretty okay gal & you just keep it up. I do hope that you keep in close touch w/ the gal Jena? She is pretty wise & has really also been through a lot w/ Matt & all. I do hope that you will continue w/ the show & what ever you do don't let the BITCHES,(Tamera & Vicky) tear you down. Life is way to short to let them have their way, which I think is way to much of the time.

Sorry for your loss. I wish all the housewives would stop using these blogs to promote their businesses or causes. It's becoming a real drag. I watch these shows to escape the constant soliciation I face on a daily basis.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for you and Jeff's children's loss. I lost my beloved in-laws, my husband, and my father within one year. I was enraged at the stupid and thoughtless comments directed at you from Tamra regarding how she wouldn't be going out if her loved one was so gravely ill. WRONG. Having been a caregiver, I know first hand how there are never enough breaks, how they don't carry you for very long. I would do it over again in a heart beat, but she should not assume that she wouldn't need to be having her own life too. Cancer is a huge burden on everyone. It just sucks the air out of everyone involved. It changes everyone too. The drugs are hard on every part of the ill person and the effects are hard on everyone else too. I keep you in my prayers. She shouldn't be so judgemental.

Gretchen- I can't wait to see what next season holds for you and you should never think twice about what Tamra says about you. She is completely jealous of you and is upset that you took the focus away from her on the show. She continues to show what an immature spoiled brat she is. She is too irresponsible to own up to her own terrible behavior. You have always expressed yourself in an articulate way and you don't have to justify anything to anyone. Tamra will continue to attack you out of jealousy so just stay as far away from her as you can. She only out for herself and will never be a good friend to anyone. Take care- you are beautiful!

Gretchen, I started watching the OC Housewives when you came on the show, so I don't really know the history of the show. I have to say that your love and devotion to Jeff is what attracted me to watch the episodes. I think you are a physically beautiful woman, but you are even more beautiful on the inside. I have a feeling that you are going to meet the most awesome man who will recognize and love you for all of your inner qualities, and not just because of your physical beauty. That kind of love is a lasting love, and he will be your soulmate, defender and protector.

I'm sickened by the way Tamra has treated you on the show. You shouldn't have to spend your air time trying to defend yourself. When I went through a divorce (which is similar to death of a spouse) I had a male friend who supported me for about a year. None of my friends approved of him or liked him. They picked apart all his faults and shortcomings. I saw a side to him that they didn't see, so his friendship meant everything to me while I was going through such a difficult time in my life. I sensed the same thing with you. This Scott is a friend that you might need in your life right now, but it doesn't mean its a romantic relationship. Maybe Tamra is jealous of your having someone - a man - in your life while she thinks you should be home alone grieving over Jeff. Sometimes we just can't worry about what other people think or say about us. They haven't walked in our shoes and sometimes they are too shallow to even begin to understand us. I just watched the lost footage from the reunion and saw how horrible Tamra acted towards you. I just want you to know that you handled her attacks on National TV with dignity and honor. I have a lot of respect for you and I know your true qualities will always shine from your heart in all you say and do. I believe your devotion and sacrifice to loving Jeff and staying by his side for a whole year, while you put your own career and life on hold, will be rewarded. Stay true to yourself, don't listen to the lies people try to use against you....they will be exposed! God Bless.

Gretchen: I know exactly what you went through with Jeff; My boyfriend, Paul, was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia in November of 2004. I am thrilled to say that he is currently in remission, after beating many odds. He went through a stem cell transplant which caused Graft vs Host Disease which is a form or rejection; he developed and beat brain fungus; You name it, he beat it! Best of luck with your fundraising. I admire you for doing so.

I am a Dallas girl and we have to stick together. First, I want to say how sorry I was to hear Jeff lost his battle. You did an outstanding job with him and it showed how much you loved him. Second, it was a pleasure watching this last season with you on there. You were a delight!! I was very disappointed in some of the other ladies on the show. I thought they would have shown more class and compassion than what they did. Lastly, I think you brought something very real and refreshing to the show. Keep it up!!! We love you in Dallas...:)

Hey Gretchen:

You go girl! So glad to hear from you again and to hear you are slowly but surely picking up the pieces and moving forward. It was obvious that Jeff really loved you and appreciated all you did for him in his final days. It is really admirable that you took all you learned about the illness and are applying it to outreach support for others and are healing yourself in the process. You are an inspiration to all the women out there who married older men for "love" not money. My husband and I have a 15 year age difference and when we got married I was labeled a "gold digger" and people said it would never last. Now we have 2 children and are coming up on our 20th anniversary this year. We sure proved everyone wrong! So than you for proving that love isn't confined by age restrictions and good luck in all you future endeavors. I will be looking for you when the Real Housewives of Orange County return next season.

You are awesome!! Keep on being America's Hottest Housewife. You and Lynne have have endured sooooo much crap from Tammara and Vickie, way to keep your head up.It is soooo obvious that they are only mad of the fact that you are perfect in every way. Tammara's party set up was totally out of line and was all about making you look bad and nothing more. You acted exactly how anyone who's had way too much to drink would act so don't feel that you need to defend yourself over it. Everyone i know that watches the show, agree's that comparing you to Tamara and Vickie is like comparing a Bentley to a Hooptie. Goodluck in everything you do. I look forward to seeing my favorite and America's Favorite and Hottest Housewife next season.

I agree with all of the posts. You are a beautiful, strong, intelligent woman. I do not personally understand what you have gone thru, but I do know just with the stress of even just every day life... you NEED a break at times. Don't let others try to bring you down. I would recommend you choose your friends (female & male) wisely. It is true what they say, "you are who you hang out with". A real friend will be there no matter what!
And as for Slade, I thought you two would be a great couple even before you were dating. I don't know if you still are, but hope it works out.

Hi Gretchen! I ADORE you! I hope you will be back next season, as you are what keeps the OC housewives interesting. Actually I think you might fit in well with the New Jersey housewives better than the OC ones, just because that group is a bit hipper and would not be jealous of you as Vicky and Tamra are. You are truly a nice person, anyone can see that in your face, just as we can see in the countenances of Vicky and Tamra what kind of people they are. Also, I love your hair!
