YOu and Gina are my favorites...both of you have a heart of gold and a sincerity that Vicki and Tamara clearly don't. Even though both girls (they are not women in my mind even though they old) say that they're misunderstood and that tv captures glimps of their lives, you mean to tell me that the camera just so happen to catch them being crazy jealous, mean, hurtful all the time?...all i can say is I truely admire your spirit in keeping positive in light of all that has gone through in your life with Jeff and to top that off having Vicki and Tamara being cruel to you. I love watching you on the show Gretchen. You're so funny! And so sincere. It's a shame that Tamra & Vicky's jealousy of you turns them so rotten! It's really apparent that they are jealous of your beauty and honesty. They are the 'mean girls' of the show! I'm glad that you are 'making Jeff's life count' by all of your charity work. Although I think you are a shallow narcissist, I do hope you are on the next season...

When they started the story line of you and Jeff, a lump formed in my throat. Someone that was going through the same thing I was. But then how untrue that was. Seriously going to the lake, hanging out while he was in the hospital or at home recovering from treatment. Please, my husband has been fighting leukemia for 4 years we have spent half of that in the hospital. I say we because I have been there too. Except for work, which I had to do in order to have a home to bring him back to. So yes you can spend all the time in the hospital. My husband is beating this disease, he says all because I have been there with him through it all, not at the lake or out with the girls. Get a clue, when you truely love them your there for it all.

Ya know what the best thing about you was, Gretchen??? You were real!! As real as it gets..at least I hope!! Who cares what everyone else thinks. You are a good women. You endured what alot of people would not, and you did it with your head held high and your morals and beliefs in tact. God and your husband are looking down on you and are proud of the woman that you are. I know you took a lot of heat for the stuff you did, but no one but god can judge you. You are right about one thing....I agree It was in bad taste for Gretchen to do a reality show while her beloved was dying. Those were times she can never get back.
But at least she is out there doing something possetive with her new 'real' reality. Not like tha COW Tamra who has nothing better to do than watch other reality shoes and write about them on her blog.
This is the first time I have ever wasted time on irrelevant stuff like this and it makes me realise how blessed I am in my life, here downunder.
I'm glad I have true friends that care for each other and not what shade of eye shadow to wear with what frock!!!

I don't understand all of the adoration that it given to this girl. I initially wanted to sympathize with her because my husband and I have an 18 year age difference between us but really I'm tired of the poor Gretchen card being played. Doesn't anyone realize that she's using her celebrity(if you can call it that) and playing on viewers sympathy over her fiances death to cash in? Everyone knows there are many loopholes in not for profit organizations and if she really wanted to raise money and awareness there are ways in which she could have done so without benifiting herself monetarily. I would have had more respect for her then. Gretchen I wish you had never been added to the cast. Who does a reality show when their beloved is dying anyway?

I live in australia and just had my 4th baby so I have had plenty of "feeding time" on the couch surfing the Foxtel chanels.
I became addicted to the show mainly because I thought the girls were so tragic....and then along came you. I loved the way you gave that egocentric Tamra a run for her money. Man....she frustrates me.
I am sorry to hear you lost Jeff. We are so far behind in the shows here, I've only just last week seen the 'Dinner Party' episode.
My daughter had Leukemia when she was a toddler. It was apretty hard couple of years. She had a Bone Marrow Transplant from her baby brother who was born 2 weeks after she was diagnosed. She will be turning 15 at the end of may. She is a beautiful, caring, sensetive and aware young lady. I know the disease is much harder to treat when it strikes an adult.
I wish you all the best in your new quest and if you ever come to do any work in Australia, be sure to let me know, I can show you some of our divine country 'downunder'.

Remember, what we want the most of for the people who are left behind when we die is for them to be happy. What do people expect you to do; go into seclusion, not eat, sleep or eat because Jeff died? His death was a great loss to you and his children but he would have wanted all of you to get over it and LIVE! I have a child of my own and a wonderful man in my life....I would want them to live their lives to the fullest! SO you ignore all the morons who have not walked in your shoes. Since you have much to tell and to give, perhaps writing a book about you experiences with Jeff and including in it tips to caregivers while giving part of the proceeds to charity is something to think about. what does Jeff's Memorial Fund go towards?

I see that SOME money goes to the lukemia fund (not all, as the person from the lukemia society noted...every fundraiser you mentioned splits the money...what percentage??) but everything you are doing also funds Jeff's Memorial Fund.

You didn't mention a scholarship, etc...
I am assuming it is to help fund his children and things like their education?

Seriously? It's just a big commercial!!! We want to know what's GOING on in your life, not a bunch of 'donate here' and 'buy this'. Ugh! All the reality shows go down the tubes when they start to be about causes & businesses instead of a balanced, normal life.

Gretchen: I was appalled at the way you were treated by the majority of the "Real" Housewives. Tamara and Vicki were the worst but, in the end, their treatment of and statements to you boomer-ranged back on them and showed their shallow, nasty self-centered way of approaching life. Concepts like: honor, intergrity, compassion and true, genuine warmth are in short supply these days. For such a young woman you have a centered apporach to life and that is admirable. In the last few years I've lost both my parents to long, painful, debilitating diseases - NO ONE has the right to critique the way the caretaker deals with the situation. Tamara was WAY out of line with her comments about the long weekend you took and, if she had a brain in her head she would have realized that - having not been in your shoes - she had no right to say or treat you in any way that was not supportive.
Srew the people on this site who are only interested in gossip, personal tidbits, etc. It is obvious that you are moving forward and involved in things that are truly important. You Go Girl!!!

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my fiance in 1999 and it broke my heart.

You will never get over it, but the pain will lessen with time, and memories wont be as painful, but will bring a smail once again to your face.

I thought it looked like a silly book, but I tell ya, I have read it over and over again, and it helped me tremendously. It is a book that you read and come away with answers to questions you have about death, & about yourself. It is a fabulous read.

I never email anyone on tv so this is a first. I want to tell you I am going through a seperation right now, and watching you guys gives me strength, and determination, for what i want in the future.

Luckily i have no children,and feel there is hope to meet the right man one day.
I truly believe we are on this earth to learn "life" lessons.....like a school for the soul.
And right now I would like o think I am starting summer vacation.

May you future be brighter, and your dreams sweeter, and your pain lessoned.

Gretchen, I admire you. My father-in-law died of leukemia at the age of 39. My husband was 16 years old at the time and had to become the man of the house rather quickly. I know that experience has made my husband the man he is tody. I am also angry at this horrible disease, because he died way too young, before I got to meet him or before he was able to meet his future grandchildren, our two wonderful children. It is a hard thing to live through, and you did it with compassion and keeping your head high. Don't listen to anything those jealous beeothches have to say. You Rock!

I was a huge fan of yours, and thought the others were just haters. But after all the stuff that has come out about you, I can't with a good conscience believe that you are as innocent as you proclaim to be. Hey Gretchen.. I love you on the show. I hated watching some of the others seem to be trying to bring you down!! Stay strong in your crusade to help fight this ugly disease! I know about the trash websites trying to spread all this garbage!! If you can handle all the strong personalities on "Houswives" you can handle anything!

Maybe others do not know this but I do. Anyone starting their own charity and holding fundraising events to make money for the charity...well it is also a form of income for the CEO of the charity. Personally I was thinking of a way to make some quick money and alot of it ...so I was thinking about starting up a non-profit charity about reality show stars and I was thinking about holding the event to raise money to help support reality stars after the shows are cancelled. What do you think? I could pay for a great office and a new wardrobe..go on all expense paid vacations, I mean trips promoting the charity...what do you think?

Gretchen - great blog ! I totally agree with you that no one can no what you went through -- I get it because I went through a very similar situation. For all of the people who profess to be friends that can never understand yet say the most hurtful of things. My involvement with a critically ill man lasted 10 years and most of it in and out of the hospitals. It is very hard to do - your entries in the blog and fundraising says a lot - hope others can see your heart and allow you some breathing room without being so critical

I am so proud of you Gretchen, you have shown you are a strong woman who can take care of herself. A couple of the women on Housewives of OC only show that they are the real "Gold Diggers" because all they do is spend their husbands money, not something I would be proud of doing. There are more important things than money.
Good luck with whatever you do in your life. You will love again, with Jeff's blessing. You are one classy lady Gretchen, Vickie and Tamara could take a few lessons from you.

Welcome Back Gretchen! So glad to hear you're doing something productive with your life. You use your time productively and it's inspiring to see that you don't waste your time with the "petty bitches". You left us in suspense though, you didn't mention whether you were returning next season. If so, it would be a good place to plug your charity like the NY Housewives do! Also, to all the people that judge you for being with Slade, who cares!You're young and single and can date whomever you please. Besides, Jo never treated him nice anyways, it's about time he found someone intelligent.

I have watched RHOC from it's first season. And this is the first season I have ever been truly disgusted and insulted by this show and your story line. You see I had a loved one that died from Acute Leukmia and we were with him evey minute of the day, until he drew his last breath. I think that you are as fake as a 3 dollar bill.

I will really be suprised if this gets posted, since most of the posts here are pro Gretchen.

As you put it no one knows unless they have been in your shoes....well honey I have been in your shoes...and I call a big BS on yours.

This is fun - I just read this on Nene's blog, and I quote:

" At lunch it was really big of Tamra to apologize to Gretchen for the comments she made about her! It's always a good thing to realize your mistakes, acknowledge them, and move on."

I'm so glad Tamra apologized!!!!! She should have, and it's so nice to see that she did the right thing!!

I absolutely love Gretchen ! Nobody has the right to say what's in another's heart. Gretchen made Jeff happy during the last stages of his life----and that's good enough for me. People that have a terminal illness, ---we are supposed to respect their wishes, and they have a right to spend their final days-final months as they wish, and with whom they wish.

I would never attempt to judge one's love for another. If two people say they love each other, what gives me, or anybody else the right to say they don't ?

It appears that Gretchen has such a great heart. I'm sure she is not perfect and has made mistakes before; however, to bring joy into someone's life, at the very end of his life....to me that is the ultimate act of giving. She brightened Jeff's day when he was having a hard time. She was an ear for him to listen to when things looked very bleak for him. If that's not love, I don't know what is.

It's amazing to me that some people have such rigid, narrow definitions of love. I see Gretchen and Jeff's relationship as something to celebrate, whether it meets the traditional definitions of love or not, and it would seem this whole experience of terminal illness has brought Gretchen a new kind of wisdom when it comes to grief, bereavement, and loss. I see her as being able to help others who are going through the same thing.

Whether Gretchen and Jeff had a traditional "perfect" relationship or not, I am very touched by their sweet relationship !

These "hard times" that you are going through... don't you think you could have avoided them by oh.. I don't know not pretending to be so in love with Jeff? I doubt your commitment to him by how you have moved on from Jay to now Slade. As much as you want to be the victim, it appears as though Vickie and Tamara were right to doubt your intentions. The photos all over the internet paint a much clearer picture of who and what you are.

Gretchen you rock! You have more class and personality than all the other housewives put together. Stay away from the toxic losers (we all know who they are....one being a housewife that will hopefully not be returning next season!).
