“I usually bring my own food on the airplane,” she told Jet Set as she got ready for the reunion taping in Los Angeles (video above). She said she has a special carrying case with compartments, “so depending on where I’m traveling to, I bring all my snacks.” Raw nuts, rice cakes, and almond butter are among her faves.
Her biggest advice for others who want to eat healthy on the road? Well, it’s to follow her example of preparation. “In order to eat healthy, you have to prep your meals,” she said. “You have to be organized and prepared because that’s when you start eating the bad stuff. ‘I’m at the airport, I didn’t bring anything, so what am i going to eat?’”
She said that after you’ve landed and arrived at your hotel, that’s when things get way easier. “[At] hotels you pretty much get anything you want,” she said. “I always think of it as they’re my private chefs.”
Stick to the basics — that all full-service hotels are likely to have — and ask for a simple but custom order if need be. “Everybody has eggs — egg whites, vegetables, done,” she said. “And every hotel has oatmeal! Just make sure it’s not instant — lots of sodium.”
