Season 4
Season 3
Well the weeks are flying by - only a few more episodes and then we will pass the baton onto NYC. I hope you are enjoying this season. To tell you the truth, the last few weeks have been difficult for me to watch. I lived the drama and the bickering once already and then to re-watch it only stirs up the sadness and emotion that I felt during those times. It's good to put them behind us. I don't live my life that way and don't have any conflicts in my "real reality," so it's definitely hard to watch "TV reality" with the other girls.
Well, this week you saw Briana tell me about her thyroid condition. I actually couldn't believe she was telling me that she had thyroid nodules. I wanted someone to pinch me and tell me it was just a nightmare. Briana hasn't actually felt right for a couple of years, and her thyroid condition is possibly the reason. She was able to get through her college and graduate, but used to tell me, "Mom, I just don't feel good." No one could ever find out what was wrong with her, until this recent diagnosis. We had the biopsy during the summer and it was benign (thank God) and the Dr. told her to come back in February to see if they have grown. Well unfortunately they have grown, and we will be praying for another benign biopsy next week. Please keep her in your prayers for me. She's my baby and I just want her to be healthy, isn't that every mother's wish? It definitely puts all of this "junk" that you see on TV in perspective when you are facing health issues. The disagreements with the women or arguing and challenging me all the time really doesn't matter to me anymore. I have an amazing career and great family and that's all that is important.
Going to San Francisco and seeing Tamra after Lynne's dinner night was good. Until watching last week's episode, I had NO idea that Tamra spoke so poorly of me at the dinner table after we left. I guess it's better off I didn't know about it, because it would have made the tension between us pretty bad on that trip. At least this way I was able to go and have a nice time with her without having my feelings being hurt. Even though I was upset with her comments to me while I was there about Simon, I knew she was doing what she had to do to keep peace in her marriage.
Vicki...you seem to be the most normal HW in the group. As a working woman (as is my hubby to be) I can totally relate to you.
My doctor also found thyroid nodules last year. I had a biopsy, but the results were inconclusive, so I elected to have a total thyroidectomy. I was out of work for 10 days, but it wasn't bad at all. I'm currently pregnant, so I need to have my TSH levels monitored each month. If Briana has to have surgery, she will be fine!! No need to worry :-) I know it's so scary to go through it, but things will be okay.
Dear Vicki, you are, without a doubt, my favorite housewife. The way you were talked about by the others is a sad statement for the people they are. This is particularly true of Tamara who many times claimed to "have your back." We will keep your lovely daughter in our prayers. hugs!
Vicki, you are right about the show and I didn't think it was right for Alexia to try and punk you down in front of your daughter. I am a foot-in-the-mouth kind of girl so I know that it isn't easy to keep our mouths shut when we should but at the end of the day, you are the ONLY housewife that has remained the same from the start of the show until now. You have been true to yourself and as a viewer it is admirable. As a single-mom in school I really like your your version of life out there in the O.C.
Donn is a terrific person and you guys have a seemingly good relationship. It IS different but I have the same kind of understanding with my bf as it seems you do. You like each other, you want each other to be happy, and you need some space and autonomy...I get it.
You also have done a really great job raising two kids that seem to be genuinely nice adults and I can't imagine it was easy with your money and means.
I don't always agree with you but I respect where you come from because it's an honest place. Don't go changing and Brianna's in our prayers here in snowpocalypse!
Vicki. You are the truly an inspiration for all Americans. Have you considered maybe running for V. Pres with Palin?
I hope that everything turns out good for your daughter. She seems to be an amazing person, you should be very proud.
Hi Vicki!
You and your family are in my prayers! Keep telling Brianna you love her, and that the Lord will take care of her. God Bless and take care!
Vicki,
When my husband and I watched this weeks episode and saw your daughter talk about her health issues we literally bursted into tears. My friend who I've known for basically all my life had cancer at about 9 years old, ( and I care very deeply about her ) and I know the pain you're going through. I hope she's okay, and please keep us informed! I'm sure she'll be alright! I can feel in my heart she's a fighter.
Now onto the San Francisco trip....
I think bringing Brianna to keep her mind off of what's currently going on with her&her health was a great idea. I bet she truly did have fun. I agree, after two or three times she should of excused herself from the table&left. I don't understand why putting Jim on speaker? I mean... really? haha. Now onto Alexis spitting out the liver... I truly think that she did the right thing... I mean c'mon, if the taste wasn't appealing to her, I don't see why she should of swallowed it. Alexis is a very classy woman.. you shouldn't of said that. I truly think you should call Lynne up and give her some advice on her struggles.
Anywho, have a great week Vicki!
Vicki, I will keep your daughter, Briana, in my thoughts and prayers. Really life is all about family, what is more important, and our health. Some things just seem to be out of our hands and in HIS at times. Someday we may know why. But with the love of you and Don, Briana will be fine. You seem to be a great person, normal as normal can be on a "reality show" that I am sure shows things that make good television. You have a great family, a terrific job - which has employed alot of people, and a good life. I loved all the Havasu trips that we saw in past seasons and hope the show gets back to more about friendship verses the catfights. No matter what best wishes to you and prayers for Briana.
u are my favorite! i do agree with your daughter, you don't fit in anymore. i love you on the show but not with those girls. i admire that you went on the trip. Alexis acts very juvenile. vicki, take care of yourself! you are beyond them!
Vicki, You are the only one that has any idea of "reality". A group of us watch the show and more and more get disgusted with the others, so self-centered and no sense of what is going on around them. This last show you really summed it up. We are wondering if, like some others, you will walk away from this Show, would not blame you.
Vicki I respect you owning your own business and working daily. You are smart and know what is going on. You have my vote for the Favorite Housewife, you display what is truly a good person.
Vicki, have grown to like you a lot more this season. You can be mean, but you're the only one with common sense.
That being said, sometimes you need to listen to what people say. Alexis had a valid point, even if you didn't like the timing (her timing was inappropriate). I'm praying for your daughter, you can't be all bad, especially since you're the only one with well-adjusted adult children. One might be a fluke, but two is just good parenting.
Best to you and yours.
I wish Briana all the best and hope for good news. My father was diagnosed with bowel cancer two years ago and he is almost 81 and still going strong and clear. Five years ago I didn't know anyone with cancer now I know of so many people with cancer, it just doesn't make sense. Do yourself a favour and leave the show. You have such a strong personality and work ethic you are in a league of your own. You don't need to be involved in all the drama, you don't do yourself justice and can come off as a bully, even though you keep it real where as the other ladies are so superficial. When the show first started I watched it thinking theses are the real millionaires lets have a look into the life of the mega rich. Now I am realising that I might actually be richer than most of them, guess that is the difference between spending money wisely as opposed to spending more than you can afford.
Vicki,
I have watched you ladies each season and I every season you have always been the leader. I look forward to the following season to see which direction you will take the ladies. This season I must say with all the drama and hard times people are facing you seem very sad to me. I know you are happy with your career and your home life, but as you blogged you are a very successful woman. Don't let this show drag you down. For the small amount of money the show pays you would be better off without all the drama.
I wish you the best in everything you do and I will keep your daughter in my prayers.
~Dustin
Vickie,
It was good to see your motherly side come out and put your work aside to be there for your daughter. She is in my prayers and I hope she makes a full recovery. Now for Alexis; I think you just met your match. Not often have you held your tongue with the others ladies and I think she is one to come right back and speak her mind just as you do. Sorry, but I agree it is hard for you to take what you dish out. I agree with Alexis that being a stay at home mom is a JOB!!! I have been a stay at home Mom for 4 years and to be honest, it was easier going to work each day.
I think Vicki is the only one of the houswives who has any sense, and she's a very smart and good lady. I will be praying for Brianna's health and all good things for the Gunvalson family.
Vicki, I watched in astonishment the episode about your daughter and her thyroid condition. I have low thyroid but fortunately I am able to treat it with vitamins. BUT, I HIGHLY recommend this book: Thyroid Power - 10 steps to a healthier thyroid. It will change your life, for the better. Please get it, it will really educate you on this condition.
Vicki I LOVE YOU I think u r the only one that is real on this show You r the only one I can stand to see treat thereself and there family because you truely work for it So if you ever need a real friend and not a backstabing bitch let me know lol. On a more serious note I think ur Daughter is a wonderful human being and sweet as can be and behaves with such maturity and class Be Proud U raised Her and I will be praying for u all Luv Ya
wow...in previous seasons I really talked trashed about you on your blogs. but I really like this blog...ad you are changing. I really like the fact that your renewed your vows. Please don't worry about other people. I wish your daughter well.
I will definitely keep Brianna in my thoughts and prayers as well as your entire family. I love her, she has such a beautiful smile and you can tell shes got a good heart to go with it.
I really do hope youll get off the show, and I dont mean that in a bad way, it just seems to be going downhill. Pretty soon theres going to be another Alexis lol Lord help us all!
Briana is my favorite girl on the show! :) She has the brightest smile-very happy to hear that her biopsy was benign. I wish they would have mentioned something about that during the show tonight. She's young & hot, tell her not to worry about love right now!! It will find her when she's ready :)
Vicki, I'll be the first to admit that I used to think you were a little abraisive. After watching all the superficial, petty drama this season you have become (without a doubt) my favorite housewife. Your priorities are admirable and honest. I love that you are self sufficient and independent. Alexa is so fake and hypocritical. I think she wants to be front and center all of the time and feels threatened by you. Keep doing what you're doing. Don't let the petty bitches get to you!

Hi Vicki tell Briana to hang in there I've been dealing with a thyroid disease since I was 14 yrs old now I am 35 it is very hard I'll tell ya. You just have to take it day by day and excercise alot to keep your energy because there are times when getting out of bed is very hard... My thyroids were removed about 3 years ago and just last year I was diagnosed with stage 1 lupus.. When you have family there making you fight it helps a whole lot I will be praying for Briana and tell her don't ever stop fighting..
My prayers and support for Briana! Wishing that she gets better soon! As to the rest of the show...I agree with your blog 100 percent! You are like a shining light and example on that show of an accomplished woman!
i really like vicky and im starting to feel like she and gretchen and lynn are the only real genuine housewives. and I hope vickys daughter is doing well and continues to do well.
I recognized the change in you over this past season.I was moved to tears when you and Don remarried as you did.NOt only did we see changes needed to be made in order to restore a good relationship with your husband.. you made a plan and put it into action.I agree that the latest addition should leave. As a CHristian wife and husband, they represent the faith poorly.I also am a believer and they make me cringe.Anyway, prayers for you all and healing for your daughter. You must be very proud of your kids. They are real.Take care Vicke.Ps.sorry for the crummy remarks from some of the people on the show.Obviously as men, they are challenged by a strong woman and one in particular is just a fool. sincerely, Cindy
LOVE YOU VICKI! You work hard and deserve to reap the rewards of that hard work. Those "bitches" need to be reminded what a real job is! Real jobs dont allow you time off to run to cooking party during the day! And real full-time moms dont have full-time nannies and full-time maid service! Real full-time moms work very, very hard and dont get to punch out to run to the spa for the day! You and Don are sooo adorable! Marriage is hard...you guys hit your bottom but were able to get through it and move forward. To see the love you have for eachother is amazing. Best Wishes!!! Also, I hope everything works out for your daughter. She is a beautiful person inside and out! You should be very proud of her! Stay strong.
I will keep Brianna in my prayers. She really is such a pretty and sweet girl. It's so obvious to see the love you feel for her.Family is truly the most important and our children are our heart.
Cheers to you, Vicki! You, Donn and your kids are a terrific example of a loving family, and I'm sorry the others have been so harsh to you about it this season. Stay strong, dear, and know that we're praying for Briana's good health.
My heart goes out to Briana and your family, I will keep you in my prayers. Briana is a strong girl with a good head on her shoulders so I have faith that whatever the outcome, she will be okay. I have always thought she was the most well mannered and classy RHOC kid. I haven't always agreed with the things you do Vicki, but I have always thought you did a wonderful job with your kids, they seem to be amazing! I'm 24 and have been afraid to go to the doctor for fear of a thyroid related illness and I know how scary it can be not knowing what exactly is wrong with you.
Shame on Alexis for bringing up drama in front of your daughter, that is one of the most low class things I have ever seen on tv! To start a fight with someone in front of their child, especially knowing that you are going through a hard time.
Keep us posted on Briana, a lot of us will be praying for a healthy diagnosis.
Oh and P.S. I know you probably don't read these responses, but I thought you were totally IN LINE at Lynn's party. I would have been so annoyed by Alexis' babbling too. The show is not the same as it used to be. : /
Hi Vicki, I am a Briana's prayer. She is a so brave young lady. You must very proud of her.
God bless you and Breana, and your family.
Hi Vicki, I am a Briana's prayer. She is a so brave young lady. You must very proud of her.
God bless you and Breana, and your family.
hooray for Vicky, she tells it like it is. Some of the men feel threatened by her assertiveness. The other women are a little bit like "stepford wives" whose husbands are controlling and don't want Vicky to influence them.
Vicki and Briana, I am so sorry for this diffucult time in your life. I've always looked up to Briana, being that she is close to my age, is ambitious and always smiling; I think she is a really sweet, smart soul, and I wish her and the entire family the best. May God bless you and yours. Keep smiling that sunny smile Briana, we watching the TV at home enjoy seeing it.
Love,
Stephanie Black
Vicki,
I'm sorry to hear about everything that's going on with Briana. I hope everything goes well with her. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
Vicki, you have become more likable this season and I'm rooting for you. With that said, your response to your daughter when she told you about her biopsy was so off putting. It clearly hurt her and I am sure you spoke without thinking but it does show that you still need to work on your impulsiveness.
Vicki- Over the past few years watching the show....You are amazing! In every episode I look up too you! I hope your daughter is doing well! The one episode that just hit my heart was renewing your vows with Don! Outstanding! I honestly couldnt not tell you enough that you are the real housewife of orange county! You remind me so much of my mother =) so caring and loving no matter what it takes! Your kids come first!Awesome!!!!! You are genuine and true! ali
Vicki, you are such a strong women! I love how you stand up for what you believe you remind so much of my mom she is also a strong women who would never let a man talk to her like Simon did to you. Personally I dont dont think that you made for the girls anymore you are on a completely different level. They should give you your own show! I so happy that you and Donn renewed your vows it made me cry even now I want to cry thinking about it! We two people are so in love and stand by each other the can do anything. I sorry to hear about Brianna I know how that feels to go through something so scary and your not sure where to turn to, how to feel, or even what to do. In March I was going through something similar but all you can do is pray and put it in lords hands. I hope that everything goes good for Brianna next Appt. I will pray for her. Keep us updated
I will pray for you daughter and your family at this time. I have cancer and I wish we could find a cure for this .
Hey Vicki!! You are my favorite OC Housewive.. & I am in college right now and I understand why you work so hard. You inspire me to pursue my dreams and be determine & not depend on a man! I know Briana is happy she has graduated and I am going to school to be a nurse too..So sad to hear about the thyroid problems but you know God works in mysterious ways and I heard Briana say that even though she is a nurse it just stills feel weird to be in that situation.. Have FAITH, because God may be taking her through that situation so that she may be even a better nurse than she already is.. Stay strong!!
Vicki,
My heart goes out to you and your family. Prayers for Briana.
The rest of the episode seems so pointless. You have taken the high road. Very classy. They only talk about you because they are jealous.
Stay strong!
I am already praying for your daughter,I started praying after this show went off tonight I was so happy to read that there was no cancer.and that's what will happen again with this test no cancer, I was so mad at tamra last week she is so two face for down talking you and alexis was putting me to sleep also so don't feel bad about anything that they say.I think you are a great, strong and hard working woman and you and don are great, I also feel that alexis was wrong trying to make you feel bad after you told them what you and your daughter were going threw they are what we call in detroit haters. I love you you are great and don is right they are not your real friends.
Vicki! I hope everything is ok with you daughter she is my age ...she is a real tough cookie. My boyfriend is cancer surviver and it took it like your daughter said she would. Watching the show makes me mad! Business is business and today you need to take the business when you can get it. So taking a business phone call is ok . Alexis is annoying she does not need to talk to Jim that much, he should of just came i mean really how are you suppose to miss someone if they never go away! Donn is the best! did you see he has the most votes for " what husband would you hit on?" so watch out!! He is awesome , laidback and calm and NOT over protective. Its sad to see the show move in the direction its moving in. I love watching you but i dont blame you if you leave.. i understand why! Ill be thinking about you and your family! Hope all goes well!
I can't remember laughing as hard as I did during the 'food reaction' at the Fleur de Lys. I thought your gag reflex reaction combined with Alexis' was hysterical. You are endearing & at your best when you're unable to 'control' your reactions. The nasty comment you made about Alexis after you regained your composure ruined what would have been one of your best 'fun' Vicki moments. It's like a switch is flipped and this viper comment comes out of you. Perhaps was it a defense mechanism, you holding Alexis responsible for you having a reaction you couldn't control and prefered not be captured for viewers to see? Remember there are viewers who appreciate & enjoy seeing Vicki's unguarded self. As a strong independent(also married) woman who served over 27 years in police work, I SO connect with many of your qualities, good & bad. Keep in mind that what you mean & how you are percieved often are not remotely familiar. You are my favorite O.C. wife so this is said with the best of intentions. Will include your daughter & entire family in my prayers. God Bless!

Hi Vicki. I'm so happy to hear that your daughters thyroid nodules are benign and will keep her in my thoughts with the continued growth of them. I also have thyroid nodules (found 3 yrs ago). Did the ultrasound and biopsy. Everything was fine and it turns out they are actually very, very common though there is as you know the small percentage that it can be cancer. I wish more doctots would stress that point so theres not such a devestation when finding out you have them.
Its also great to see the growth of you and Dons relationship and in other areas! Keep it up!
