There's One Thing Soon-to-be-Divorced Gina Kirschenheiter Needs in a New House

And the housing demand is non-negotiable for The Real Housewives of Orange County mom's 5-year-old son.

By Patricia Cunningham

Gina Kirschenheiter may have put a move on the backburner for now, while she and her husband, Matt, finalize the details of their divorce. But that doesn’t mean a new house isn't on the horizon for The Real Housewives of Orange County mom in the future. In fact, she’s even started to attend open houses to get the lay of the land of the Coto de Caza housing market.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

“I actually have been going to open houses randomly,” she said recently during a chat with Home and Design. “And it’s so fun to pretend that you’re going to buy every house that you walk into.” Girl, you're speaking our language, crashing open houses is our favorite Sunday pastime!

So, just what is Gina looking for in a new home? A set of stairs, for one, as it’s her son Nicholas’s non-negotiable and, trust those who know, you never want to disappoint a 5-year-old. “He has this thing — I don’t know what it is — but he has this thing in his head where your house is not good unless you have stairs, and I live in a one-level home, so I’d really like to get him some stairs.”

Secondly, unlike many of her Real Housewives counterparts, she does not want a home that is too big. “I get scared in the house alone so I just want something that’s like a nice feel, a nice layout, good vibe.”

Lastly, in true "modern family" fashion, Gina says she will need an extra bedroom for someone unexpected. In her case, that would be her soon-to-be ex Matt since he'll still be staying with her on the weekends, as he has been, when he's not working in LA. “I need an extra bedroom for Matt because wherever I move we’re going to probably do the same thing, so a four-bedroom house and that’s it,” she notes, adding, “Plus, you always need a guest room when you’re a transplant because people come visit you, so you need a guest room.”
