Playboy and a Slightly Emptier Nest

Jeana Keough talks Glamourcom and moving her daughter Kara into college dorms.

By Jeana Keough

Glamourcom was strange, not my idea of a good time. It was great seeing all the girls, but the fans were a bit odd. They had cases of magazines to get signed, and to them it is a business. I had a great time in L.A., though — limos, fine restaurants, great shopping, and the added perk of Victoria Cooke, my dear friend and former Playmate who I hadn't seen in 10 years. We had a great time with her husband and brother, Edward Cooke, from Colorado. They took me to a beach party in Santa Monica. There was great people watching and I got to meet Tracy, a Realtor from L.A. It was great comparing notes and watching drunk women try to do the stripper pole. We need more of those in the O.C.— what a conversation starter! I used to see my favorite Playmate Lisa Welch once a year on her son's birthday. She has 1700 acres and lamas, ostriches, and the coolest farm ever. The birthday parties she through were the talk of our house for months. As the kids got older they had sports on the weekends and I couldn't make the trek to Calabasas. I miss her! She is the most like me of the Playmates — she wasn't much of a partier. She makes jams with all of her fruit trees and taught me how to dry fruit. She has six or seven children. She is Supermom! Kara was flattered to be asked to pose in Playboy — who wouldn't be — but she is just not interested at this point in her life. She is an avid reader of Playboy. I still get my free issue for life every month.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on Peacock and the Bravo App.

I just got Kara settled in to her dorm, no tears on either side — she was ready. Frankie designed her room with her and Cheryl and Dan Uribe helped drive us around, take us to dinner, and show us the town. Uncle Richie took us to Pastime Ace Hardware in El Cerrito's to get her refrigerator, and all her college things, and she was so excited because Uncle Richie's friend Jeff owns the store and gave it all to her for free! Jeff has been to the OC with us several times, and it is nice to know she has all these great friends to call on for help. Jeff personally came to her room and showed her how to use her new tools! Kara with a hammer and trying to put things together was quite funny. All of us were exhausted carrying the truck full up to the second floor.

Kara met a soccer player, and a basketball player who told her about their games Thursday. She has made friends already. Her roommates play softball and her suite is nice and cozy. I think she will be a good roommate — she is very considerate of people's space. It will be an adjustment though after living in an 8000-square-foot space. She is so excited, and I know she is going to have a great time. She has pictures of her friends and her boyfriend all over her room in big collages. Today is her first day of a new chapter of her life. She is ready for it. She knows that home will never be the same, just a place to visit in between studies and work. That will probably hit me on the way home.

Colton is the only one home now. Baseball starts for him this weekend so it will keep him busy. He will miss his sister — they were very close.
