Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. It's been pretty crazy around here! We were traveling (business), filmed the reunion (yikes!), and Terry and I celebrated our anniversary (AMAZING get away with @drdubrow)!
The best news is -- the kids are finally done with school today! Yeah! I love summer! We are taking the family on a much needed vacation next week -- can't wait!
So, about the last few episodes. . .
It's hard for me to discuss Costa Rica because we have just filmed the reunion and I think everyone should watch that and then I will explain my thoughts and actions better. Here is a little teaser. . .
We all actually had a lot of fun despite the tension. I haven't been on a girls' trip since before I was married -- and I rarely leave my children -- so this was a big deal for me to go on this adventure.
I spent a lot of time with Gretchen. We had massages and drinks. I really enjoyed hanging out with her.
After seeing your immature, mean girl behavior towards Sarah in front of all your guests, I kinda wish she would have eaten all the bows off your silly cake.
ClearSkys " I kinda wish she would have eaten all the bows off your silly cake." That right there shows what kind of morals you have.
Heather- When you watch this last episode and see your facial expressions you are going to be embarrassed. Alexis isn't the only one who needs an acting coach.
To AVA1
My heart goes out to you and you very brave daughter.....Hope your post wakes them up and the next time they eat cake they will remember the truly important things in life are family, health and faith.
You are so classy and elegant. I really love you on the show this season! You did NOT overreact about the cake incident! I wouldn't have handled it as well as you did. I would have thrown her out of the party immediately after she did it. While I was a bit saddened about the incident in Costa Rica, Alexis wanted to talk about the whole phony thing to begin with and had brought it up herself. It was not the best situation, but you really had some good points. It's not like she always has nice things to say about you. I love how you handle situations without swearing and throwing things, and I love how you and Terry interact. You have been a great addition to the show and hope you will be back next season!
Stop it! I can't take it anymore!! You girls need to seriously step out of Beverly Hills...WITHOUT EACH OTHER!!!! In the past 2 years I've watched my 7 year old daughter suffer through cancer treatment!! I've been to hell and back a hundred times...I really can't get over the way you are ALL behaving!! I use to enjoy watching...but now I'm feeling embarrassed. You CRUCIFIED someone over a cake bow!!!!!!! REALLY!! Do you hear that!! YOU GOT MAD AT SOMEONE OVER A CAKE BOW!!!!!!!!!! What does it symbolize? Really? Your marriage?? I thought it was stronger than that!! Being gorgeous, happy, healthy, happily married, hot husband, beautiful healthy kids, incredibly gorgeous homes, a career, a view that I only see in dreams...LADY ARE YOU FRICKIN' KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!! You know that Sarah was drunk! Clearly there are some issues there!! But the manner in which you all ganged up on her!! It was AWFUL!! Yes, I agree it was CLASSLESS to defile your cake!! I personally, would have laughed!! If I were in your shoes, MY response would have been , "I have more important things to worry about"!!! Enjoy your summer!! My favorite time too...I'll be taking my daughter to chemo next Tuesday (just days before her 8th birthday)....I just hope she feels well enough to be at her birthday party. When I asked her what kind of cake she wanted, she said she didn't care! She was just happy to be having a party!!
that pretty much puts it in perspective, now doesn't it !! God bless you and your daughter - my daughter was diagnosed at age 10 and was in chemo for 5 years - she is now 29 ! So I can certainly identify with what you mean.
@ava1 All good thoughts and best wishes for your daughter.
ava1 I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your daughter. My prayers are with you and your family. Your trials and challenges certainly do elevate above the petty, obnoxious, shallow lives we watch on majority of reality tv. Thank you for bringing "reality" back to earth. May God be with all of you.
@Alycat9705 You make an excellent point about her selective behavior filter.
Absolutely love your home and your style for the most part. Do you think that planning Alexis's intervention during a vacation in paradise was appropriate? Esp. considering it was only a 2 day trip for Alexis.
Nope, wrong, it was NOT your place to have that kind of conversation with Alexis -- you barely know her! Stop making excuses for your bad behavior. And I love how you're all up in it but sit back and allow that nimrod Tamra to do most of the dirty work. You brag every bit as much as Alexis, you just say it in hushed tones whereas Alexis and the rest tend to scream it.
You need a vacation? From what? Your vacation to Costa Rica? Planning a party? Shopping?
And why are you throwing a bridal shower for Tamra? It seems as if none of you would have any other friends had this show not been created. That's pretty pitiful and speaks volumes.
I do not know you of course. However, your representation on this show is one of pettiness and pretention. Please get over yourself before you defend yourself. No excuses, just accountability.
You are too pretentious for me to enjoy watching you.
I think you handled the Sarah situation very well. It wasn't just that she broke a piece off your special cake, it was the fact she was very drunk/high, uninvited and wanted to create drama around herself again. Good for you, for handling her with class and getting her friends to 'see her out' . You seem like a great hostess.
I don't think that you all were bullying Alexis and I agree that your tone was conversatonal. It is also hard for me to be around someone who is always bragging about what they have. But I'm sure Alexis is crying at the reunion.
I have to give Bravo a shout out about the new format to post comments; this way i can see right away if my comments will be posted without having to hit post button several time to be sure.
Please Heather...do you really think Tamra needs ANOTHER bridal shower? You really need to step down from your pedestal...how about a little humility?
Heather,
I like you. You added a much-needed shot in the arm to the show. I hope you return next season.
You had every right to be upset about the cake. A cake like that is a centerpiece. For someone to come along and dig their fingers in is not only rude, it's UNSANITARY! Ya know, I'm not rich, elegant, or sophisticated, but even I know you don't do something like that. When you are a guest in someone's home, whether it be a mansion or a trailer, you treat your host/hostess AND their home with RESPECT. PERIOD!
I don't buy the ''sugar problem'' defense either. A person with hypoglycemic tendencies generally has the presence of mind to carry something with them for such emergencies, and even in the absence of that, I'm quite sure that if she had approached you or one of the servers there, and explained the situation, you or one of the servers would have been more than happy to provide her with something sweet to munch on to tide her over until the cake had been cut and served. NO, Sarah does not have a sugar problem. She has a manners problem that is exacerbated by the consumption of too much alcohol. Haven't seen part 2 yet, but I think that you would have been well within your right to ask Sarah to leave.
I really like you and Terry, and I think your children are adorable. And your house is fabulous. What a view!!
Have a wonderful summer, and again, I hope to see you next season on the show.
heather, i know you meant well, and tamra tricked you into doing this for alexis's "own good." she knew all along that she was going to make it a free-for-all and bully and attack her relentlessly! i wish you had stepped in when it got out of hand, and apologized to her for your part in it. it is my opinion that the whole idea was ill-conceived to begin with...it is not appropriate to demonize someone on vacation, or any time for that matter! perhaps if it was such a problem, gretchen should have been the one to have a heart-to-heart with her and told her what the perception was. that is the most that should have been done! you are quite pretentious in my opinion. you did go on the camping trip with the girls so this was the second time you went away with them that i've seen. you made the poor guy at the market feel so bad when you said you had never heard of any of the wines before, and were actually spending time looking for red wine glasses! who cares what glasses you use on a camping trip! you were so "offended" when the poor baker wanted to make a fun cake for your party. everything is all about appearances with you...i would never have a big party to celebrate changing your name. why didn't you just quietly celebrate it with your husband and tell the girls your good news? you're very self-impressed and it's not becoming. i don't know why you associate with these women anyway when you obviously think you're so much smarter and more sophisticated. you don't belong in orange county and neither did i, because it's so superficial and flashy. go back to new york to your nice friends where you do have some common ground.
@judyann325 I agree. She comes across as very pretentious, but is very offended if anyone else does. In most circles that is called having a double standard; Heather seems to have many of these.
I must admit I am so happy she has joined the cast because I love to see her beautiful home so much! Finally someone with real wealth! Most wealthy would never go on a reality show. It would be tacky and in bad taste. that is why we get all these people struggling and juggling to be rich. But there is a big difference between rich and wealth! Youcan easily lose riches but wealth is there to stay!
When in a tricky situation, as a hostess, I always ask myself,"What would Lisa (Vanderpump) do?".
Hey Heather,
As a viewer of the OC since day one, I do admit I was abit unsure of you when I watched the
promos but you won me over! You and your wonderful husband are so down to earth! Your
home is just beautiful! I have vacationed in the OC and have stayed in Laguna Niguel and I
just love it there. Unfortunately, I'm divorced now and the kids and I haven't been to the
OC since 2008 but I love watching the show and kind of reliving those wonderful vacations!
All the best. PS, my daughter has had the acting bug since she was cast in Annie in the 4th
grade. She is now a theatre major in college!
To The New Mrs. Debrow, I absoutly ADORE you! You have such SPETACULAR social graces! You bring out the VERY BEST in the other cast members. I have a confession to make, I was never really hooked on RHOC until you came along. I LOVE Tamera and Gretchen. But Vicki and Alexis are a hard pill to swollow! Broing drama, and their drama is boring! Brooks is DISGUSTING...uurrgghh! You Heather have set the bar for the show now. I love your friendship with Tamera and I hope you'll be around a whole lot more!!!
Dreamer68 Yes, we saw just how socially graceful she was. We saw her not only gasp at the idea of Sarah eating the bow off the cake but gather a whole entourage to approach her on the subject, making a scene out of it. A graceful hostess would have thanked the woman who brought to her attention and then taken Sarah aside and expressed her feelings....it was a flipping bow.....for a stupid over the top pretentious party for something she should have done when she first married her husband...or at least when she had her first child. Heather is more phony than she claims Alexis to be. .
Heather seems pretty cool man. I know that I would have been much more upset at 'ol girl for breaking that piece off of her cake and eating it. I'm just your typical laid-back guy, but when I was watching that with my wife (and, from time to tie, I actually pay more attention that I pretend I am ;) my jaw dropped. Some people need to re-enroll in elementary aged house training.
i think Sarah was inserted to RHOC for pure drama purposes. Heather, I think you're a good addition to the show and have the class that Luann from RHNY wishes she has!
JV282 Amen to that!
I saw the clip about the cake. Yes, it was rude of Sarah to have taken a piece of the bow, but to gather Vicki, Tamra and your husband and make a mountain out of a mole hill is ridiuculus. You acted like a child.
I like you, Heather and I love to see you with your family. You guys are really sweet. I realize that we don't see everything that happens when we watch the show, however, I still think that the conversation between you and Alexis should have been between just the two of you. I am not a fan of Alexis but I don't believe in ganging up on a person. Especially when that person is in a different country and has no support. Imagine how sad and lonely she must have felt. I can't wait for the reunion show and I hope you are on the show next season. : )
Heather - I don't normally comment on these blogs but I just have to say that I absolutely adore you and you have made a wonderful addition to the show! I sincerely hope you will be returning next season!! :)
I'm still trying to figure you out. You seem to be a very nice person. I love the relationship you have with your family. It is evident that you have been pampered and are used to, and expect certain things to be just right. People aren't always the way they "should be" according to your standards (which are not too lofty but lofty just the same) and this is where Alexis comes in. From the start I had her pegged as someone who was very needy in seeking approval whether it's from her husband or friends. This doesn't mean that she is a weak person, or even needs to change. It just means that she needs to be loved and appreciated and reminded of it occasionally (I have a friend like this and while she is high maintenance, our friendship is worth it). It is not up to you to "fix her". I am glad to hear that you went to her the next day after "the intervention" to make sure she was OK, otherwise it just looked like you were joining in with the mean girls. It was an ugly confrontation plain and simple.
I love the fact you are real. I know lots of people think why does she want to know so much about Alexis,I think you are a real person and it's hard for you to be around such a fake one. I do the same thing. I wish you the best for this summer and I am so happy you are on the show. Be safe.
What a great addition to the cast. I really enjoy watching you and your family this season. But I really hope you run from Tamara. She is not a true friend to anyone. She is a bully. She did it to Gretchen, then Vicki. I'm sure you are next, since you are so well liked on the show. I hope Eddie brings her the security And self confidence she is lacking. He is a great guy!
I love you!! I think you are by far the most classy and sophisticated on the show. Be careful that you don't allow the show or other women to cheapen you!
Heather...I love you on the show but I have to disagree with you about it being appropriate to do an "intervention" and take sides with Tamra and Gretchen about Alexis....a gal you never even took 5 minutes to truly get to know. Once Tamra told you about her, you simply accepted her words and you too became a disliker/hater of Alexis. It is NEVER appropriate on a vacation to discuss in front of cameras something that sensitive and personal. It is NEVER appropriate to point out flaws in another person...especially when you truly have never tried to know them...even if you think you wouldnt like them. You were very sweet to go and apologize , but even then, you put conditions out there for her to "meet" with you. That is very arrogant! Alexis did nothing to YOU personally. She isnt an angel and she makes mistakes in social gatherings, but her heart is in a good place. You are such a poised, gracious woman and very very fun to watch, but I hope next season isnt going to be all about Alexis and her flaws!
Great blog and great comments on the intervention. I think Alexis is lacking humility, bottom line. You are classy and elegant without being snooty. Think you are a great friend and a loyal one. Priorities in order- love that. Seriously though, how do your kids navigate the steps in your home? (coming from a fellow mother of 4)
I am on the fence with you --- like you most of the time but think you should definitely stay away from Tamara. She is just a mean girl and has no significance whatsoever. I do think you can be mean when you're with her but don't really see you as that type. Can't stand her or her cheezy boyfriend so would love, love, love you if you were not in an allegiance with her. Love your husband - he looks like a LOT of fun!
Heather,
I too realize we don't see everything that is filmed and have just a taste of what you ladies are experiencing, however, I did not care for your "intervention" with Alexis. You ladies bullied her and that's the bottom line. I wish you would have spoken to her alone, just the two of you. That would have appeared more authentic. Although I know you would be terribly condescending and snarky to her no matter the time, situation or environment.
Anyway, I hope more of your fun and spirited personality will be shown. I've seen some of it but you are being portrayed as a real mean girl out to hurt a fellow cast member.
Heather, you should have spoken to Alexis privately. Tamara is a mean person and you look bad being so friendly with her. Funny how you criticize the way Alexis dresses when Tamara dresses the same way. Make sure you read Alexis's blog. There is never any justification for ganging up on someone.
Heather honey, I would DIE to have you throw my bridal shower and I'm pretty sure Tamra feels the same. ;)
Love you Heather!! Wish Peggy was still on the show because you and her would bring some real class to the show!
I wish Bravo would trade Alexis for Peggy. I am about DONE with Jesus-Barbie!
I do not blame you for being totally upset at Sara for eating the bow from your cake. She rude, crude and socially unacceptable! Who would ever even think of doing such a thing. You and your family are a wonderful addition to the show and I am hoping you remain with the show for following seasons.
Hey Heather, As some of the viewers stated, I also like you on the show, and love your hubby and adorable children.
It was hard to watch the "intervention" on Alexis, I'm not a huge fan of her but she is pretty harmless. It was too much and you should have spoken with her alone without Tamra... she already had her party last week. At any rate, i'm looking forward to the reunion show.

Wasn't sure if I would, but I do like you. You are just what this show needed, it's fun to watch you and your hubbie interact. I would have gone nuts over the bow too.
