Meanwhile, Gretchen and Tamra continued to bond by eating a raw oyster together (at the very least that halves their chance of getting sick). Gretchen and Tamra also sat near each other, allowing them to make plenty of Frito jokes, much to Vicki's chagrin. However the hot and cheesy honeymoon barely lasts, since Tamra decides to call out Gretchen's plump lips in front of the whole table. Is this already the beginning of the end of these two. I just put their names together Gretmra? Tamen?
But all of that was quickly silenced when the food came to the table. I'll let Gretchen surmise this: "All of the sudden comes out a trash bag of fish." Now I am Cajun, myself, and have eaten my fair share of crustaceans. It's not perhaps the best serving situation to plop them onto the table in a bag, nor would I have picked such a messy food for this group of gals. That stuff gets under your nails, which I doubt this crew was into. Also the claws are sharp, which I feel is a terrifying thing to arm the 'Wives went.
Which is why I was particularly worried seeing Peggy try to confront Alexis in the limo. Have we learned nothing from the many unsuccessful back of the limo confrontations of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? It never works out. . .
And so, it looks like that might be the end of their friendship, and the end of Peggy and the ladies all together.
Isn't everything about Gretchen cute? Everything she owns is pink, but not in a Lisa Vanderpump way, in a cute way.
How can you people be so out of touch with Cajun food? You should be ashamed of yourselves. The flavors seal when you place the shellfish inside the plastic bag!!!!! Maybe you should watch Food Network in between Bravo shows.....
Considering down here in the Southland we just dump the boil on the tabletop with some newspaper, the ladies ought to be glad they got a bag. Someone should have not been so pretentious and just dug in, the rest would have followed and fun could have been had by all. But Vicki forgot the beer. You have to have beer at a crawfish boil.
"That S--t Crayfish" is the best title for a blog yet.
Can I give big ups to the OC Wives for actually blogging?! Thank you. Take a lesson, Atlanta, Kim Richards, and Taylor.
Bravo to bravo for letting Peggy go, she is toxic, mean, jealous and pathetic. It is really strange how obsessed she is with Alexis......if you got rid of Tamra it would be a much better show. The show used to be a good show before trashy tamra came on.
Another episode where Tamra is ridiculous, cannot believe she put Brooks' hand on her breast-idiot!!! But, she needs to be the center of attention all the time. Her being nice to Gretchen will not last and Gretchen best keep her at arms length. Love Gretchen's shoot; she's the perfect housewife to pose nude. Last, we love crawfish but I would never serve them to friends for their first time and especially in that type of vessel-crazy!
I agree with Nedzaj! I was surprised these girls have never experienced some sort of seafood boil! I'm sure these girls have no problem putting a bib on in a fancy restaurant for some lobster, but they probably have it fed to them so they don't get their pretty nails dirty. Here in WA state we crab for dungenous and we enjoy trying new ways of serving it. My husband and I have served up a tasty crab boil in our backyard for our neighbors and friends, and they all enjoyed it, no snide remarks here, only gratefulness for a new tasty experience. (though, they should have dumped it out of the bag and onto the table). If you ever find yourself at a Chinese restaurant that serves black bean dungenous crab, I highly recommend it! It's messy like the boil, but your taste buds will be extremely happy!
I was wanting to find out the pinkish cocktail drink all the the girls were drinking at Vicki's Cajun Party.. Anybody... Thanks...
I'm a Cajun girl through and through and I find it sad that so many people put some seasoning in something and call it Cajun or watch a few episodes of "Swamp People" and think they know what our culture is about. First, Vicki stated she was embracing Brooks culture of being from Mississippi by serving Cajun food. For the record Cajun culture does not come from Mississippi it comes from a place called Louisiana more specifically Acadaina a small section of Louisiana. Second, true Cajun gumbo is not served with Fritos, tomatoes, large chucks of okra or any ridiculous stuff like that. If something is tomato based or has such things as tomato chunks in it, it is Creole based which is a total different culture than Cajun. Down here in our parts...lol..we pride ourselves with being hardworking, family-oriented, living a simple but fun joyful life. I hope that's what people learn from these Louisiana based shows.
How about putting the boil on a platter or bowl? Good grief! The wives were party-poopers and rude. You takr a little on your plate and express pleasure and then move it around if you do not want it. No need to insult the hostess and the chef.
Uh-huh...it's not craYfish...it's crawfish and it's never served in a plastic bag with shrimp. Crawfish is has a strong flavor...that's why it's boiled with corn and potatoes. It's a travesty to serve it with gloves and a bib, too. bromo is right, it's dumped on the table on newspaper or in a beer flat. At restaurants they get a little fancier and serve it in a round plastic platter. BeeTeeDub...Mississippians aren't Cajun, so I don't know where Vicki got the idea that Mississippi + Food = Cajun "Cuisine". I'm a little upset at the misinformation, but y'all come to New Orleans and we'll show ya a good time and you'll leave with a full belly and a big smile on your face.
I thought the bags just thrown on the table looked to trashy. I dont blame the ladies for not knowing what was going on, Vicky should have told them what was coming and how it was to be served. Thats just me talking though
Vicky's dinner party was a lovely gesture - the ladies were rude. Good riddance to Peggy, I don't think she's suitable for reality TV - certainly not emotionally mature enough to handle it.
I see some of the Cajun's are up in arms about Vicki's CAJUN cuisine. I guess I would be too, if that was my heritage, however, I'm not CAJUN, I'm CREOLE, and like many Creole's my heritage didn't stem from Louisianna, but South Carolina, which makes my family Gullah or given the nature in which the term is used GEECHIE. We have adopted some AUTHENTIC Cajun cuisine, and vice-verse. I also see that many are correcting Vickieis implication that she's been traveling to the South, particularly Mississipi and began learning about their "cuisine". I don't think she meant that she got the idea of Cajun cuisine FROM Mississipi, but probably from the surrounding Southern states. It was said that tomato based dishes a primarily Creole, that is NOT necessarily true. For the most part it is, but not a rule. I have seen many people serve boiled crawfish and shrimp in a bag, however the comments ring true in that NO self respecting Cajun would serve it that way. There ARE many Cajuns (and Creoles) in Mississippi, particular around the Mississipi Delta which is a stones throw from Louisianna. "Laissez le Bon temp rouler" = Let the good times roll
